  1. H&C is a show run by right-wing producers and Hannity and they control the agenda on that show. Only stories to smear Democrats and ignore Republican scandals. For example, no segments on the over 900 false statements on the Bush Administration, Colmes did bring it up, but no segments on the show. Bush veto on Children’s healthcare, The ex-GOP indicted with terror ties, ETC.. I can go down the list of stories IGNORED by H&C. Since Colmes won’t confront his GOP bosses at Foxnews, he will be confronted by liberals and ignored by the Democratic Party.

  2. Louie,

My co-host does not control the show. And you’d be surprised at the diversity of political opinion among those who work on our show. In terms of “confronting my bosses”, you have no idea what I do or don’t do, what I say or don’t say, and how my input contributes to the show behind the scenes. You may not like the result, but you’d be better off not tossing broadsides about things you know not.

  3. Confront his GOP bosses? If a conservative works for the IRS, is he supposed to confront his IRS bosses about taxation and big government? Colmes’ job on H&C is to combat the conservative message with a mod/progressive viewpoint, which he does quite well.

Fox tilts conservative, sure. Fox has an agenda like every other dang news channel or news organization out there. To say otherwise is being intellectually dishonest.

I don’t expect conservatives at CNN/MSNBC/NYT/WaPo to constantly be “confronting” their bosses. Their job is to provide a viewpoint, simple as that.

Colmes may be ignored by some, but what other liberal voice gets as many viewers and airtime? Fox destroys its competition, so to marginalize Alan is plain stupid. It’d be better to support him and try to feed him talking points.

  4. Alan,
Please explain why most stories aren’t covered on H&C. For example, no segments on the over 900 statements of false statements by the bush administration, Bush veto on children’s healthcare, in fact, no COVERAGE AT ALL on how Republicans against blocked yesterday on funding children’s healthcare on H&C. No segments on ex-GOP indicted with terror ties, etc..Who controls the agenda on that show? Who puts those words on the tv which you read every night?
Why hasn’t H&C covered this stories?
Alan, the floor is all yours…

  5. Well Louie, the answer is simple… they have to fit in time to devote the top 2 segments of their show to the Duke rape case.

  6. I have zero respect for Fox News. But I have immense respect for Alan. He fights the good fight and does it beautifully.

I am also one of those people that does not recognize Fox as being a legitimate news channel. They are a hard right conservative pro-Republican propaganda network. Nothing more and nothing less. And I have never known a Republican in my real life who has disagreed with me about that fact.

CNN and MSNBC, while I also have extreme contempt for them as well for other reasons, does have an equal amount of conservatives and liberals on there. They will tackle stories that Fox will not beause the accent with Fox is to make Republicans and conservatives look as good as possible.

Neil Cavuto, Brit Hume, Bill O’Reilly, John Gibson, Sean Hannity are all hard right conservatives. There is not one show on there hosted ONLY by a liberal. MSNBC has Keith Olbermann, a progressive, and Dan Abrahms and Chris Matthews who are moderates but they also have Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough both conservatives. They all have many conservative guests. I think Pat Buchanan lives at MSNBC.

Fox News hosts all have a conservative/Republican slant. “Fox and Friends” in the morning. One of the hosts was talking about the Daily Kos which is a left wing site. They could have said that, it would have been fair to do so, but instead said that it was an ANTI-AMERICAN web site. That pretty much tells you all you need to know about Fox.

Fox has had the least amount of stories on the Iraq War than any other network.

50% of what’s on Fox is politics. The other 50% is Hollywood gossip, scandal, rumors, missing people, sleazy sex stories, murder mysteries etc etc. In other words garbage. I know the other networks do it too but Fox does it the most.

And is it mandatory for every woman on Fox to be blonde, to wear a short skirt with 4 inch heels, with their legs in the viewers face and oh yes, she MUST show her chest? Must be in their contract.

The other day during Fox and Friends they had a commercial on for HOOTERS. I’m not lying. I saw it again the next day too. Just another fine example of the hypocrisy of Fox News who have hosts on at the same time pushing conservative “family values”.

And speaking of sleaze why is it when Ann Coulter is on, is there not another guest to counter balance with her? No not someone as lame as Jane Hall, how about a genuine kick ass liberal who can really take her on in a similar style to Ann’s? It won’t happen but thank God for Alan being there who exposed Ann’s racism and anti-semitism.

All that is said none-the-less about Fox is why many liberals are down on Alan Colmes, because he works there and refuses to bully the conservative guests as Sean bullys the liberals but they just don’t get it. Alan is the thorn in Fox News’ side. If he weren’t so good then why does he drive the conservatives NUTS?!

Alan is superb at debate, is logical, civil, doesn’t personally attack anyone and presents facts and many conservatives just can’t deal with it. They can’t even deal with his wonderful sense of humor.

And unlike pseudo liberals on there like Juan Williams and Jane Hall he doesn’t kiss anyone’s ring.

  7. Blah blah blah, epiphany. I have zero respect for people who can’t see the truth because they’re blinded by politics. Typical propaganda about Fox. How can you respect Alan if Fox is such a DEN of evil conservativism?

I’m generally a Republican and I disagree with your ad hominem assertion that Fox is a “hard right conservative pro-Republican propaganda network,” so I find your statement that you don’t know any Republican in your real life to disagree with that, at worst a lie, and at best purely anecdotal.

If you have such respect for Alan, which I’m not sure if you do, you might want to read his post up above where he specifically said that “you’d be surprised at the diversity of political opinion…” on H&C. I think the same is true for all Fox shows.

Are you going to, with a straight face, TRY to proclaim that the media is not biased mostly to the left? When a liberal like you sees a news organization that doesn’t tilt this way it automatically must be a propaganda network, right?

    Bunk, sir.

  8. Epiphany-I was debating whether or not to respond again to Louie, but you did it better than I could have. Thank you. Who are you, anyway?

  9. Lets look at it this way….If Alan was not on this show, what would you have. No other guy on our side could do any better than to confront the conservatives, but Alan really gets them rattled too. Take Michael Reagan the other night. The bottom line is what do you want. As a liberal like myself, the only conservative I could stand to listen to and get steamed about is Sean Hannity.

I support Alan on the fact that other liberals don’t come on Fox News and stand up for themselves. We have to have honest debate and more need to stand behind Alan on this.

  10. Alan – You’re welcome. : )

  11. Alan

I listen to your show on Fox in Australia via the internet as often as possible. You made a profound, yet simple statement the other day. You stated that the majority of “pro-lifers” are usually in favor of capital punishment. I believe that to be 100% true.

Please continue being as you are. You are an oasis in a desert of misinformation, sensationalism and pro neo-con propaganda

    regards

    Gail
