Subject: We love your show but…..Hello—-For years my husband and I have watched your show every night we are able to. We ask to make a suggestion: We are getting tired of Mr. Colmes interrupting Mr. Hannity. Mr. Hannity will begin speaking and he is interrupted often and enough that we then don’t know what the topic of discussion is. This happens particularly when politics are being discussed. Since we have another year of heavy politics, we are afraid we’ll get too tired of so many interruptions. Also if we may suggest, possibly you should just interview politicians with similar views as you each have. When Mr. Colmes interviews a Republican, it is a waste of time to watch because it is a time of interruptions and putdowns and negative references to President Bush too often. Mr. Hannity should interview the Republicans and Mr. Colmes interview the Democrats. Otherwise this year will betoo uneasy to watch your show. I hope you understand what we mean.Thank you, and other than this we love your show. Bob and Betty

We are a debate show. I challenge the Republicans and Hannity challenges the Democrats. He can be hard on Democrats, too. Does that bother you?

Subject: PelosiAlan,Have you ever considered the very real possibility that Nancy Pelosi is a transsexual or crossdresser? She represents the San Francisco area(homo heaven) and have you seen those ‘Man Hands’? Seriously, blow up a picture and take a close look
Seems to me that Bill Clinton is turning into Jimmy Carter. A senile old man with nothing better to do than run around spouting lies about people.
If Hillary is elected President and Congress remains in control of the Democrats, WE ARE FRANCE!!!

Subject: Basic Rules of EttiquetteI have had it with this show and I am resigned to never watching Fox News during the Hanity/Combs program. My reason being Allen Combs cannot keep his mouth shut when someone else is talking. He will ask a question and then talk over the guest who is attempting to state his view or answer the question. This is especially true when Combs disagrees with the other person. The the most basic rule of etiquette one is taught as a child growing up is broken every single program. I thought never went out of style nor was it ever stricken from the rule book. It is true that I have two ears but I can only hear and concentrate on one person speaking at a time. Understand?
My suggestion is that Fox either replace Combs or spend the money to send him to school for basic communications skills/manners.

Subject: Hannity and ColmesHello Alan,I’ve watched your show for years and usually enjoy it. Lately, however, my blood pressure rises whenever it’s your turn to interview a guest. You are becomming more and more like the typical far left liberal by talking over the guests when they are trying to answer your questions if their answers aren’t in agreement with your politics. Hannity lets them talk and, by the way, lets you talk. You even talk over him!
You seem to be getting worse by the day in this and you should think about how it comes across. You’ve apparently adopted the liberal mantra of ‘if they say anything contrary to our point of view, just talk over them’ (is how I would paraphrase it). Basically childish, and from a guy with a good brain. I think you should let them finish speaking, or just admit you can’t handle it and move on.

What is a “far left liberal”? Is that all liberals? Which liberals are not “far left liberals”. Do you feel you need to say “far left” to modify the word “liberal” to make those of us on the left sound out of the mainstream?

I was in New York City, within sight of the World Trade Center. I lived under the mayorship of Giuliani. I’m under no obligation to consider him a hero. And I didn’t know that thinking other than you do makes one mentally ill.

Subject: show tonightAlan,
I listened to you for awhile tonight talking about having to show ID for voting or not. All I can say is you are so opinionated about the law proposed in Indiana and you won’t let anyone express their opinion! Your mind is already made up as with so many talk show hosts it really horrible I feel.
you have an opinion but so do other people and their opinion matters and guess what? they may be right you may be wrong. it seems so many were against the proposed law, we have way to many intrusions in our lives now, WE DO NOT NEED ANYMORE!

If I didn’t let anyone else express opinions I wouldn’t be doing a three-hour nightly call-in show that often features guest who don’t agree with me.

Alan,
Why do people write these things? Just how disturbed is the Fox viewing audience? I’m no Hannity fan but would never send him hate mail. What ever happened to respect and common courtesy?

Perhaps your viewers would prefer you appear on the show as a mime.
(Help! I’m trapped in an invisible box with Ann Coulter!)
That way these hacks can hear all sides of an issue and make up their own minds… without the interruption of other views.
I agree with the previous poster, I can’t stand your partner’s narrow minded opinion, but I wouldn’t inarticulate as much to him directly.
Where’s the decency?

Here’s Bob and Betty’s e-mail, countered by me:
Hello—-For years my husband and I have watched your show every night we are able to. (so your telling me you actually sat through all those night they devoted hours and hours to the Duke rape case and the Natalee Holloway case?) We ask to make a suggestion: We are getting tired of Mr. Colmes interrupting Mr. Hannity. (That doesn’t even make sense… Hannity opened the show laughing at Colmes when they put up a picture of Hillary with Tony Rezko) Mr. Hannity will begin speaking and he is interrupted often and enough that we then don’t know what the topic of discussion is. (Funny, I always understand the topic of discussion… sometimes I don’t agree with the topic of discussion, but I always understand it… perhaps you have another type of problem) This happens particularly when politics are being discussed. (Well it sure doesn’t happen with the Duke rape case is being discussed) Since we have another year of heavy politics (your right, its probably going to take a long time after the election before we get back to our 3 month getaway to Duke University, and that will only happen if a republican is back in office because we have to cover up for his mistakes), we are afraid we’ll get too tired of so many interruptions. Also if we may suggest, possibly you should just interview politicians with similar views as you each have. (That doesn’t even make sense… if journalists just interviewed leaders with similar views to themselves… nobody would ever be challenged… Bush, Clinton, everybody would go completely unchecked and be able to do whatever they want because they would only have to answer questions from people that blindly agree with them) When Mr. Colmes interviews a Republican, it is a waste of time to watch because it is a time of interruptions and putdowns and negative references to President Bush too often. (Well, hes the president… how can you not reference him? His policies shape the world. His policies are responsible for 3,931 dead Americans and 655,000+ dead Iraqi citizens… and your saying its a waste of time to ask questions about that?) Mr. Hannity should interview the Republicans and Mr. Colmes interview the Democrats. (I just told you why that would not work, everybody would go unchecked then) Otherwise this year will betoo uneasy to watch your show. (Don’t worry… hold on a little longer… I hear the bus to Duke University is coming) I hope you understand what we mean. (No, I’m sorry… we don’t)
Thank you, and other than this we love your show. Bob and Betty (Thats sweet)

As rude and mind numbing as most of these letters are, and my gods are they mind numbing. I must agree with one common theme. Alan you do have a tendancy to interrupt your guests and callers. I do understand that you have to keep things moving, after all you’ve only 3 hours to air and 30,000 callers who feel they are the only ones. I doubt there’s anything you can do about it for your radio show, and as for H&C, well I don’t keep a TV in my truck, just a Satellite radio so I really don’t care.
On a side note, I’ve tried calling into other talk shows both left and right, for my own little experiment. What I’ve found is a tad perplexing to me though.
Trying not to think poorly of the hosts, I’ve noticed that with the exceptions of “Brian & The Judge” and “John Gibson” the self labeled “Conservative” talk shows all but hand you a script when you call in.
While the self labeled “Liberal” talk shows are bombarded with disagreeing callers, With the exceptions of durring “Guest Segments” there’s been virtually no screening, at most “Name and City” on the honor system at that.
As I said I rather not think poorly of people, I’m sure they have their legitimate reasons for this. However I can’t think of them. Perhaps you could shed some light on this for me?
