Hillary Clinton Says She Can Control Bill

January 31st, 2008, 11:56 AM EST

Can you imagine if a man had been asked this about his wife?

ABC News’ Eloise Harper Reports: Senator Hillary Clinton, in an interview with ABC News’ Cynthia McFadden for ABC News’ Nightline, was asked about President Clinton’s controversial comments about race and Senator Obama in the past weeks.

Clinton apologized for her husband. “I think whatever he said which was certainly never intended to cause any kind of offense to anyone,” Clinton said, “if it did give offenses then I take responsibility and I’m sorry about that.”

“Can you control him?” asked McFadden.

“Oh of course,” Clinton replied.

Here’s video.

  1. Please. No one can control Bill Clinton. It’s a mute point. We all know she’s full of doo doo. And if he had said it about her? Now that’s comedy! But, he would have been lying – neither of them are controllable. They are both Alpha males.

Now think up something funny to say tonight on H&C or I’m going to flip the channel on you. Smooch!

  2. Who is Hillary Clinon?

  3. Well, actually, if Hillary had left out the, “Oh of course,” she would have made a pretty good answer to an inherently offensive question–a question aptly demonstrating how “insensitive” some women can be.

  5. “Can you control him?” says much more about the questioner than about HC and her reply.

  6. For me the question implies one of two things: 1) Who’s really going to be running the White House if you’re elected, or 2) You better put him on a leash before he costs you the election.

Either way I find it disturbing.

  7. “Can you imagine if a man had been asked this about his wife?”

Oh, come on! You don’t think a man has ever been asked that about his wife before?

It’s her response that would have been unacceptable for a man.

  8. Frankly, while I do believe there’s a double standard, and I’m sure Alan meant would a man say that of his wife to the broader public, not to his buddies while watching a game (that’s for ShesRight), I can’t say I’m bothered by it. So women can say it and I can’t. I can live with that.

  9. “One of Professor Quigley’s most shocking revelations,” wrote Dr. Monteith, “was the fact that the American Communist Party was partly financed by J. P. Morgan and Company…. J. P. Morgan and his associates financed the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, conservative groups, liberal organizations, communist groups and anti-communist organizations. Thus we should not be surprised to learn that someone purchased Professor Quigley’s publisher and destroyed the plates to the first half of his book so it couldn’t be reprinted.”[1, page 99-100]

The CFR would become the U.S. equivalent to the Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA) in Great Britain. Professor Quigley explains:

“At the end of the war of 1914, it became clear that the organization of this system had to be greatly extended… the tasks was entrusted to Lionel Curtis who established, in England and each dominion, a front organization to the existing local Round Table Group. This front organization called the Royal Institute of International Affairs, had as its nucleus in each area the existing submerged Round Table Group. In New York it was known as the Council on Foreign Relations, and was a front for J. P. Morgan and Company…. In fact, the original plans for the Royal Institute of International Affairs and the Council on Foreign Relations were drawn up at Paris.” Quigley, 951-952.

  10. Maybe Hillary kept some of Monika’s whips and chains.
