McCain Can Fear Monger, Too
The God card three paragraphs in:
-
I am proud to be a conservative, and I make that claim because I share with you that most basic of conservative principles: that liberty is a right conferred by our Creator, not by governments…
-
the steadfast defense of our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which I have defended my entire career as God-given to the born and unborn.
-
I know that to be denied liberty is an offense to nature and nature’s Creator.
And now the Reagans:
-
I have also always believed, like you, in the wisdom of Ronald Reagan.
-
I attended my first CPAC conference as the invited guest of Ronald Reagan
-
I heard him deliver his “shining city upon a hill” speech…
-
…his words inspired and helped form my own political views.
-
Ronald Reagan’s defense of America’s cause in Vietnam and his evident concern for American prisoners of war in that conflict inspired and were a great comfort…
-
I am proud, very proud, to have come to public office as a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution.
-
…my confidence that conservative pr inciples still appeal to a majority of Americans, Republicans, Independents and Reagan Democrats
And let’s not forget the fear-mongering:
-
Whomever the Democrats nominate, they would govern this country in a way that will, in my opinion, take this country backward…to the timidity and wishful thinking of a time when we averted our eyes from terrible threats to our security that were so plainly gathering strength abroad.
-
It is shameful and dangerous that Senate Democrats are blocking an extension of surveillance powers that enable our intelligence and law enforcement to defend our country against radical Islamic extremists.
(Uh, there’s something called a warrant. It’s called “rule of law”.)
-
Senator Clinton and Senator Obama will withdraw our forces from Iraq based on an arbitrary timetable designed for the sake of political expediency, and which recklessly ignores the profound human calamity and dire threats to our security that would ensue.
God, Reagan, and “elect the Democrats and our enemies will kill us.” Now we know what kind of campaign it’s going to be.

Alan, without telling you who I’m for or not for… I will say that I’m completely agianst fear mongering. Bill Clinton has said that if McCain is the nominee it will be a really clean campaign. I highly doubt that. I really think there will be tons of mud slinging on both sides. Its too bad, I would like to see a campaign built on the issues… not fear.

Damn! Too bad. Looks like McCain is going the fear route. HOW THE FUCK DID THAT WORK FOR THEM IN NOVEMBER OF 2006? The next President will be a Democrat. It’s almost too easy…
February 7th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Oh YUCK to his speech before. But what did you expect? It’s not surprising that McCain has to be a good boy and please his tempermental and suspicious audience. So now he will continue to out-conservative anyone and continue the usual rhetoric about the sanctity of life, they’ll kill us here if we don’t kill them there blah blah blah.
John McCain’s days of being a maverick have now officially ended.
February 7th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
John has only turned to the darkside. He’s made a deal with the devil in exchange for a shot at 4 years at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
The “Straight Talk Express” of 2000 has been traded in for the “BS Express” of 2008.
Listening to Sen. McCain speak these days would make a good drinkin’ game. “My friends”? One shot!! “Tax cuts”? Two shots!! “Radical Islamic terrorists”? Chug-a-lug the whole bottle!!

‘EITHER YOU VOTE REPUBLICAN OR YOU WILL DIE!!!!’ -john mccain
hmmm… will americans buy this fear mongering again in 2008?
If there is another terror attack before November 4th, Mccain will use the “vote for me for you will die” speech and he will win.
So pretty much, the Republicans are hoping for a terror attack in order to get elected into office.
Hey Giuliani bragged about how great 9/11 was for his campaign and he used it to win the white house, too bad it didn’t work.
But mccain is another story…

Romney and McCain, both more palatable when they have their liberal social views. Such a shame they have to pander.

“I am proud to be a conservative, and I make that claim because I share with you that most basic of conservative principles: that liberty is a right conferred by our Creator, not by governments…”
I guess you’re going to explain this to all those coutnries who still have a king, right Johnny?
I also didn’t see anything about “liberty” on the earthly plane in the bible, last time I looked. Seemed like that was a worry much further down the totem pole than say…..God.
Render unto Ceaser what is Ceaser’s,eh?

So, now that McCain’s the presumptive GOP nominee *you liberals* (j/k) don’t love him anymore? How predictable…
For what it’s worth, I hate the fear mongering. I was disgusted to hear Romney use “wartime” as an excuse for dropping out. It’s become the standard cop-out for every mistake and it’s embarrassing to me as a Republican and a conservative.
The first three paragraphs are pretty standard American political philosophy going back to the Declaration of Independence and even earlier. You don’t have to dwell on God to accept the idea that man’s rights are inborn and not a gift of government, to be taken away at government’s whim.

Then stop labeling yourself a Republican or Conservative. Force politicians to form a new party and stop supporting the Left and Right war parties here in the states.

“When your only took is a hammer, everything begins to look like a nail!” McCain is a warrior from a family of (distinguished) warriors and sees the world as he sees it. But there are better ways with less death, disability, violence and loss of treasure better spent at home. That’s why we have civilian control of the military…to provide a more balanced view. Ike, another great warrior, agreed with that and warned us against the thinking and actions of the military-industrial complex. The need is for Obama and Clinton, and more moderate independents to focus on realistic alternative options for the middle east and define them as something other than “surrender” which the conservatives love to use while not clarifying who/what/ will define victory. People with any intellect must percieve more than two choices: “surrender” or “win”

McCain is a pussy! He’ll lick Rush’s boots before this is over. He’s a fruitcake as is anyone who adores Reagan…they seem to forget he raised taxes…ratted out his friends because he thought they were commies…gave medals to the crew of the Vincennes after they shot down a civilian airliner…fucked around on his wife and married his mistress. Oh wait, these ARE the values these retards love. Yet another scumbag. Good luck to the planet if this guy gets elected! “Bomb bomb bomb…bomb bomb Iran…” What kind of talk is this from someone who wants to be respected by other countries?…oh ya, he wants the planet to “bring it on!”.
February 8th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
For clarity,I haven’t trusted McCain for a long, long time. I respect the man for his service to our country, and don’t wish him ill. But in political matters he’s definetly not my cup of tea.
And those “liberals” that supported McCain were never this country boy.
February 9th, 2008 at 5:36 am
Just pointing that out,my apologies. I’m certain that many of us on the Liberal side of the aisle are the same in regards to John McCain.
Not throwing a rock.
February 9th, 2008 at 5:37 am
Why don’t you guys be honest. You are not liberal, just a group that does not believe in the Bible and that there is a creator. That is OK, it is the USA and you have a right to that belief or non belief. Just be honest when running for public office and state your true beliefs that you are secular humanistic socialists.
