Deepak Chopra Never Wakes Up In A Bad Mood

He explains it here. On radio Monday night with me, he’ll talk about his new book, The Third Jesus: The Christ We Cannot Ignore.

The first Jesus is historical, about whom we know almost nothing. The second Jesus was appropriated by Christianity to fulfill the agenda of the church. This is the Jesus millions worship who Deepak says never existed. The third Jesus is the one who embodies the highest level of enlightenment, the one who, if we truly got to know, would help us achieve God-consciousness.
Deepak’s own blog is here, where he and his team delve into compelling spiritual issues.

This I gotta hear.

I must be failing my cultural literacy this week because somehow I had in my head that Deepak must be a rapsta name, until I looked up the name, and read that the man so-named has weighed in on “intelligent design,” among other things, and thus by the light of this new learning I feel empowered to fling my own two cents into the religion versus science controversy, by saying, simply, science is right, and God made it that way!

I didn’t find myself overly impressed with Mr. Chopra; somewhat, yes, but not very much. He came across as being enlightened, but I think his Yin Yang philosophical ideas are overly simplistic. I don’t think “they,” whether a Muslim, Christian, etc., is after us for our “freedom,” but I also am doubtful that a change of attitude will resolve matters to the extent implied by his confidence in the principle of god consciousness. Certainly, we may accelerate the creation of enemies by militaristic reactions and actions, but can it be assumed that we are as strongly responsible for the motivations behind hits on us; that there are not reasons that exist absent things we’ve done?
