To Count Or Not To Count

Delegates, that is, from Michigan and Florida.  I don’t want any Democrat to “win ugly“.  You can’t change the rules mid-stream.  But do we disenfranchise voters in two states?  What say you?

Responses to this post...

  1. The voters need to disenfranchise the Democratic leaders of their state. They knew full well what the implications of moving up the primaries were.

  2. Wouldnt using unfair results disenfranchise the voters in the two states? If the dnc is that concerned, shell out the money to have both states do their primary again.

  3. If it slows Hillary down, GO FOR IT !

  4. Alan, I’m reading that it was the Florida legislature that set the date for the primary, and the only info I can find indicates Republicans control both houses of the legislature, and if that’s the case it seems a bit insane for Florida Democrats to be penalized.

Maybe you could illuminate what actually happened?

  5. I think we should seat the delegates but spilt the delegates 50:50 for Hillary and Obama. That way we respect them but not affect the end result. Is that possible?

  6. WOW, Florida taking rights/changing the rules on its citizens? HOLY Terry Shivo batman! but it doesn’t surprise me Michigan got into the game, since that state cant even decide what to do with the mayor of Detroit.

  7. The mayor of Detroit is liberalism on PARADE ! Can’t get a straight answer from him, OR an accounting of the $$$$$$$$$$$. [public money that is]. Disfranchisement all around PLEASE. [Democrats only].

  8. Don’t worry, it’ll all balance out. If Michigan or Florida vote for Obama in November, we won’t count their electoral votes and he’ll be even with Hillary.

  9. How else can Hillary win? Oh wait, that won’t help her either. Who cares! OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA

  10. Hmm—-Do I want my CFR candidate bent on global socialism to be a war monger, black, or have a vagina? So many choices, but after all, this is the land of the free.

  11. One suggestion that’s been floated is to slap together some caucuses here in Michigan, as a cheaper alternative to re-staging the primary. But in general, what a mess.

  12. I find the whole thing irritating.

Some states were allowed to go before the dates, because they had always historically gone early before, as if this was a divine right.

Heck, I live in Indiana – Why exactly is Iowa a better reflection of the nation than we are again? Okay, so our democrats would be republicans anywhere else.

The whole thing smells of privileges – I would be happier if there were some system for allowing states to be queued up randomly, so that some years the coasts might go early, others the southwest. Draw straws or something.
