Bush Hasn’t Heard That Gas Prices Are Going Up

February 29th, 2008, 2:20 PM EST

Probably because he’s focused on getting out of office and establishing his library.

Alternet has video of Thursday’s news conference where he showed how in-touch he is.

Q: What’s your advice to the average American who is hurting now, facing the prospect of $4 a gallon gasoline, a lot of people facing -

THE PRESIDENT: Wait, what did you just say? You’re predicting $4 a gallon gasoline?

Q: A number of analysts are predicting -

THE PRESIDENT: Oh, yeah?

Q:– $4 a gallon gasoline this spring when they reformulate.

THE PRESIDENT: That’s interesting. I hadn’t heard that.

Moments later, the president can’t answer a question about funding for his library because he’s  “focused elsewhere, like on gasoline prices…”:

Q Any restrictions on who can give? Will you take foreign money for this?

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, I’ll probably take some foreign money, but don’t know yet, Ken. We just haven’t — we just announced the deal and I, frankly, have been focused elsewhere, like on gasoline prices…

  1. Mr. Bush’s library has already been paid off by his oily friends in Houston and Saudi Arabia. How much can it cost to fill a library with 1000s of copies of “My Pet Goat”?

Mr. Bush and his oily friends are nearly finished plundering America. There’s nothing left to do but turn out the lights.

  2. Of course the idea of $4/Gas. is news to W. His feet have not touched the ground in years…he’s been in La La land since before he took office. The guy is a complete idiot.

  3. All we really need is for our Senate, like that of ancient Rome, to start declaring our Presidents gods.

  4. Focused on something he previously admitted he has no knowledge of..that sums up his entire Presidency.

  5. These Michael Moore wannbe’s taking everything out of context and playing gotcha. I’d like to see the whole interview, know what was going on.
I am very disappointed with Bush, but not with the economy. The gas issue is not due to plundering by Bush, but by the monetizing of the national debt that has been taking place since the 1960’s . Bill Clinton said that State quarters were making money because the only cost 5 cent to make. The happy little counterfeiters at the mint are the major cause of inflation. Congresses lack of fiscal responsibility has nothing to do with it.
It’s all B S anyway, just as soon as a democrat gets back in there and it will be “Happy days are here again”

  6. Maybe he hasn’t heard the particular alarmist projection quoted by the reporter. Here’s what DOE said in its last Short Term Energy Outlook:
“Regular grade gasoline prices, which averaged $2.81 per gallon in 2007, are projected to average $3.07 and $2.97 per gallon, respectively, in 2008 and 2009. Diesel fuel prices, which averaged $2.88 per gallon last year, are projected to average $3.21 and $3.08 per gallon, respectively, in 2008 and 2009.”

Bush could have been focused on the fact that $3.13 (the current retail average) is too high and still not have heard that some off the wall analyst was predicting $4.

  7. I cant wait until bubble boy gets out of office and we get a real president!!

  8. ew. “oily friends”.

  9. Yeah, I seen Bush at the gas station today and he even checked my tires for me. They were low on air so I blamed for it. Oh yeah, the Deli was out of meatballs too, so I blamed Bush for that too. I asked the illegal alien at the deli if they had anything else to eat, he no comprende! I blamed Bush for that too.
