Hastert’s Seat Goes Blue

Democratic businessman Bill Foster won the Illinois seat previously occupied by Republican House Speaker Denny Hastert, in a predominantly Republican district. Predictably, Republicans downplay the significance of this.
“The one thing 2008 has shown is that one election in one state does not prove a trend,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokeswoman Karen Hanretty said in a statement.
Oh yeah? What would Karen say if Nancy Pelosi lost her seat to a Republican?

Republicans cannot even win Denny Hastert’s seat and Tom Delay’s seat is in the hands of a Democrat. And how did they do it? By espousing views like, “People who think we need to wiretap indiscriminately are INSANE!”
If a Democrat can win in Denny Hastert’s district by dumping on President Bush’s anti-Constitutional agenda, why do the Democrats in the national leadership constantly roll over and play dead in the face of attacks by Mr. 29 percent’s party?
The general public is hungry for an end of Republican misrule and a return to Americanism.

and
“i am not gay!” -larry craig
