Mr. Whipple Wants To Squeeze The Boyfriend

March 13th, 2008, 8:30 PM EDT

Yes, that is the name of the sheriff in the case of the girlfriend stuck to the toilet.  Now, Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple wants to charge Kory McFarren with mistreatment of a dependent adult.

“The unfortunate thing is this truly is a case of two people, in my opinion, with diminished mental capacity,” Whipple said

“The only thing I am guilty of is I didn’t get her help sooner,” (McFarren) said.

On Wednesday, McFarren said his girlfriend, Pam Babcock, 35, had a phobia about leaving the bathroom…

McFarren, 36, told the sheriff at that time that Babcock had not left the bathroom in two years, although McFarren now contends he’s unsure how long she was in there. Whipple said Thursday that judging by the woman’s condition – she had open sores on which the toilet seat would stick – it appeared she likely sat on the toilet continually for at least a month.

  1. I agree with the sheriff. McFerren should have tried harder. Yes, there’s only so much one can do, but doing nothing isn’t excusable, and it appears he did very little.

  2. This story and Spitzer’s hooker is giving you a lot of amusement, isn’t it?

  3. A whore who really knows the Spitz; that’s a good ho.

  4. First caller didn’t help matters. No, not Barack’s fault, but if the first caller’s claims are correct, well, that just helped rationalize phobia about black people by making them sound unhinged; brilliant.

  5. Laura’s point might have been that wives and husbands should try harder in their relationships, but she makes it sound as if wives should be spread eagle at her men’s beck and call.

  6. their men’s.

  7. Even in the case when it’s not apparently victimless, the forced compulsion of women can exist. I don’t believe in keeping prostitution illegal, as it’s futile, but I am of the belief that there’s a good risk that you are paying for something brought about by a bad childhood (the prostitute’s; perhaps your own), and the lack of affection certainly doesn’t help. There’s also the risk of being robbed, getting an std.

  9. Does this mean Wright disagrees with the far right’s claim that AIDs is god’s punishment for gays? Also, why am I the only one active here?

  10. It’s because da people wuv my comments.

Anyway, I agree with the God Delusion phrase. The creationist’s intelligent design argument is only valid to them when it’s used to support Jehovah as the designer. The problem is that the concept of a being who creates and is then either hands-on or inactive in his creation’s development, is a premise that applies to virtually any entity which can be claimed to have such power, from Vishnu to Zeus. Also, the notion that it’s more logical to assume a deity is responsible for the world than that evolution, chance, et al, is ridiculous. If you don’t have sufficient information to form a logical conclusion, especially on matters such as this, than don’t make conclusions as if they are fact. Your god’s not proven by the simplicity of it being the reason for the world, and the Bible doesn’t prove god.

  11. than that of..

  12. Now Dawkins is going too far. I don’t think god beliefs are logical, but a person’s not wholly moronic for believing in god.

  13. Dawkins could be referring to the argument of efficient cause from Aquinas. Well, I have to go off now. Too bad, this was interesting.

  14. “’The unfortunate thing is this truly is a case of two people, in my opinion, with diminished mental capacity,’ Whipple said…”

So the answer is you arrest one of them?

  15. That depends on the level of disability of the boyfriend.

  16. “’The only thing I am guilty of is I didn’t get her help sooner,’ (McFarren) said.”

What else really needs to be said?
