Stone And The Family Spitz

March 23rd, 2008, 11:25 AM EDT

It was Republican dirt merchant Roger Stone who tipped off the FBI to the New York Luv Gov’s use of prostitutes, reports the New York Post. And what evidence is there to corroborate Stone’s story?

Stone’s lawyer wrote to the FBI after investigators asked to speak with Stone, although they didn’t specify for what purpose. He refused to talk to them, but sent the letter about Spitzer.

“It is also my client’s understanding from the same source that Governor Spitzer did not remove his mid-calf-length black socks during the sex act. Perhaps you can use this detail to corroborate Mr. Stone’s information,” according to the letter, which was first reported by the Miami Herald.

The Herald reports that Stone learned this information from “a social contact in an adult-themed club.” This is not surprising, given that Stone, before he had to resign as an aide to Bob Dole, was found to have placed ads in swingers magazines looking for threesomes with his wife. Below is the September 24, 1996 cover of the Star.

And this is the same Roger Stone who has been accused of making an invective-laced phone call to Eliot Spitzer’s elderly father, threatening that he would have to testify about “shady campaign loans” to his son’s campaign. Although Stone has denied making this phone call, he admitted that the call came from his telephone number.

“This is a message for Bernard Spitzer. You will be subpoenaed to testify in front of the Senate committee on investigation on your shady campaign loans. You will be compelled by the Senate sergeant at arms, if you resist, you will be arrested and brought to Albany – and there’s not a goddamn thing your phony, psycho piece of s— son can do about it. Bernie, your phony loans are about to catch up with you. You will be forced to tell the truth. The fact that your son is a pathological liar will be known to all.”

After this phone call was revealed, Stone had to resign from yet another job, this time advising New York Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno as to how to deal with Spitzer, his political enemy.

  4. Alan,

I was just wondering how much say you have in the guests and topics on your Hannity and Colmes show? The topics and guests always seem tilted towards right wing talking points and issues, and I was wondering if someone else determines this, and you just comment on it as your job, or if part of your job is chosing the subject matters and guests. Thanks.

  5. Alan- Does FOX put u on the air to be pulverized by Sean Hannity every week ? Youj are the most inarticulate weak-kneed wimp on TV.

    As for Roger Stone- BRAVO.

Spitzer was a would-be dictator who loved to trample on other peoples rights- prison will be good for him.

  6. Unlike your other unsympathetic commentators, I feel the Spitzer case is a tragic one for all concerned. That includes Gov Spitzer, his spouse and girls, and the citizens of NY who expected him to serve and do his job well. Sex addiction like other addictions is an illness much more prevelent in our society than we like to admit. Today, Easter, one would think people fresh from Church might remember the preaching of forgiveness and humility would be slightly more charitable.

  9. You’d think a guy with a name like Stone would at least make some effort to sound like a tough guy, rather than somebody’s pantywaist wimp.

    As for Joe Bruno…

From the Wiki: “Bruno and his wife Barbara Frasier (deceased) have four children: Joseph, Susan, Kenneth and Catherine, and live in Brunswick in Rensselaer County, New York.

There is at least one building named for Bruno in each of the fourteen towns and two cities that comprise Rensselaer County, New York. In addition, the Houston Astros A short-season affiliate “Tri-City ValleyCats” play in Joseph L. Bruno Stadium situated on the Troy-North Greenbush Border.”

Could it be true that there’s a movement afoot to rename the State of New York as “BrunoLand”?
