Thank You, Airtightnoodle
whoever you are. Airtightnoodle points out that when I asked Ben Stein why he links Darwin to Hitler in his movie, Stein denied he was claiming that Darwinism leads to atrocities like the Holocaust. Then why bring up the third rail of arguments, Hitler?
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7Wj6_DLV0M]

Yes, Darwinism provided the rationale for Hitler’s atrocities.
And math the rationale for bombs.
And English for Bush’s rationale..the worst atrocity of all.
Look, I see too that evolution has enough holes in it to fill Crispy Creme, but Obama said it best tonight that science should be used to bolster faith, not diminish it.
It’s important Christians do not become niave, bumbling nincompoops who refuse to admit carbon dating proves “this bone or that tooth” dates 50,000 years or older.
But if Christians begin to read the good science and atheist literture like “God The Failed Hypothesis” then our faith will be bolstered by the resiliency and strength of biblical knowledge.
(That and the “Great Flood” of biblical account may have perverted certain carbon dates through massive amounts of great heat, elements, and tremendous pressure -all rampantly powerful during the earth changing flood. -if you believe that biblical stuff. :)

There’s a creationist museum down South that claims Adam and Eve kept a pet dinosaur.
(Been watching too much of the Flintstone cartoons?)
They don’t think much of Darwin either.
Ben Stein: you’re know by the company you keep.

Evolution, as Noel puts it, has enough holes in it to fill Krispy Kreme. That’s number one.
Number two, recognizing intelligent design doesn’t somehow “prove” Yahweh or Christ or Buddha or Allah or any other religion. It does, however, put a stake in the heart of hardcore Darwinism: unswerving belief that this is essentially a big, random, cosmic mistake. Darwinism probably has more zealots than any other fundamentalist belief.
Uncouple science from atheism AND from religion. I’m a quite conservative Christian and I have no issue with that at all. But assuming there cannot possibly be any supernatural forces (and ruling that out) involved with the creation of the universe or development of our world is utter nonsense. It’s just as bad as using religious literature in a scientific manner.

And it is worth saying, Alan, that if we have all evolved then there is a “master genetic race” or “most evolved race” of some sort, right? Wouldn’t there have to be?
April 14th, 2008 at 11:40 am
And it’s also worth saying that I am not a believer of evolution and I believe that all men/women are created (by God) equally! All races are valuable children of God.
Wanted to make sure I made that clear… :)

I wonder if Ben stein was told to hit the bricks by the people at “bulls and bears” so ben is looking for another GIG?

You’re welcome. :)
Can you believe I actually got flak over at my own blog from an atheist for that particular post? And I thought for sure those were the people that would sit there nodding and saying, “Right on!”
Oh well. ;)
To flap–
If you think evolution is full of holes, you need to back that statement up.
Your question about there being some sort of “master genetic race” shows you have little understanding of evolutionary theory. I mean that in the politest way possible because I think you need to educate yourself.
Here are some recommendations, if I may:
A good evolutionary textbook (Evolution by Douglas Futuyma)
“Finding Darwin’s God” by Kenneth Miller
I believe you’ll find the second one particularly interesting as you stated you believe in God; Kenneth Miller does as well AND he accepts evolutionary theory.
Ciao for now.

Thanks, airtightnoodle, for directing me to pro-evolutionist material. I won’t be reading it.
And enough of the smarmy, condescending “poor understanding of evolutionary theory” nonsense. You have a poor understanding of science to accept evolution. Why are there no positive, information-gaining mutations ever found in the scientific literature? Do you assume they are there because you have proven evolution to yourself in your own mind?
I don’t believe in evolution because the evidence is not there, not because of a belief or non-belief in God. I used to believe in it until I realized that this was a pseudoscientific theory at best and scientific zealotry at worst. Aggravating for you to hear that, I’m sure.
At least half of America agrees with me, and I couldn’t be happier.

My statement about a “master genetic race” doesn’t show a poor understanding of evolution. One race is likely more genetically “fit” to persist in our modern world. That would de facto be a master genetic race.
You never specified how it showed such a poor understanding, you just chickened out and gave me book references.

Everybody’s an expert. Everybody’s got a degree in paleontology. Everybody knows because the Almighty told them so. Well I don’t know nothing, but it seems to me that for every claim science makes one can answer, “God made it that way.”
So where’s the conflict? It’s inside our little ape brains which have yet to evolve beyond the stage where our main concern is that somebody else might get all the nuts and berries.

Flap–
I believe I was being as polite as possible and not condescending at all, but I apologize if it came across to you as such. When I say you have a poor understanding of evolution, I truly don’t mean for it to be condescending…though I am certainly very educated on the topic, I don’t think I would call myself an expert. I find that MOST people have little understanding of it. Some of the smartest people I know do not believe in evolution (and in my experience, it is usually for silly reasons, as smart as these people might be).
There is a ton of information about mutations out there if you would just look for it. But you already said you aren’t interested in doing that. That’s a shame.
But in case anyone ELSE is interested…check out the following link, which explains mutations and their effects, and it provides many references for your researching delight at the end:
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/mutations.html
“You never specified how it showed such a poor understanding, you just chickened out and gave me book references.”
Reminiscent to your statement that evolution is full of holes, which you never backed up, as I pointed out previously. At least I provided SOME reference of use.
I was truly trying to help (not just you, but others that will, of course, read these comments), but if you want to think of it as chickening out, go ahead.
To touch on the “master genetic race” thing again…you can’t expect there to be a “master race” of humans as there is only ONE human race. Genetics studies show that humans are pretty much genetically homogenous, so all humans are really only one biological race.

It must be nice to give out financial advice on one day then a weeks later re invent the theory of evolution. Whats on schedule for next month? rocket science?
April 15th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
why don’t you explain independent 3rd party candidates never win. They are spoilers. Teddy Roosevelt did it to Taft in 1912 throwing the election to Woody Wilson. Strom Thurman helped Truman in 1948. Ross Perot divided the Pubs in 1992 giving Clinton the Prez. And Ralphy Nader grabbed just enough Liberals in Florida to throw the State to Bush. Hillary won’t do Bush any favors.
I live in rural NC and can’t be an out-spoken Democrat at work or my Republican boss will fire me. I see it as an extension of the Patriot Act.
