Jimmy Carter Continues To Earn His Nobel Peace Prize
Carter’s meeting with Hamas has produced a 3-point peace proposal.
- A ceasefire between Hamas and Israel
- Serious negotiations about the release of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit
- The lifting of an international embargo in Gaza
But then why talk to terrorists? Why talk to our enemies? We should only talk to people who like us and who we like, and just threaten our enemies. Right?

Why doesn’t Jimmy make peace with the [boys] from Philly or south central LA.? How about telling the [Rev?] Wright to get some training in the book of Jesus ? How about meeting with the public education system [the real spreaders of terror in the USA]? We can’t EDUCATE our own in the HOOD Jimmy ! CEASEFIRE in the hood Jimmy !

George w bush knows all sees all!!! Jimmy is not going to restore peace on his watch… NO WAY
NO DEAL forget it
April 19th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
All may not be as it appears…ever hear of misdirection? Perhaps Jimmy is delivering a message or someone in his group is, that may be the real reason for his visit. A little ‘backdoor’ diplomacy. No, what was I thinking? I must read too many spy novels.
April 19th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Well, if Carter reprises his success at Camp David between Israel and Egypt, then he won’t appear a boob.
And just maybe the Hamas leopard will shed its tuxedo.
Trying not to be too skeptical.
April 19th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Well, he proved me wrong.
April 19th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
I only talk to people who speak english. And even then I require moral concessions.
April 19th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Alan, of course we should not speak to our enemies!
Come on!, a prick on Sean Hannity who only has a high school diploma sets our nation’s conservative agenda by saying ‘no diplomatic talks!!’
We should just bomb everyone we disagree with!
Thats what conservatives who follow a high school diplom scholar like Hannity want!
Just look at these rightwing bobble heads saying ‘no to peace talks!’
You know we are a nation in trouble when a person like Sean Hannity, who only has a high school diploma, and a college drop-out, is listened to by right-wingers in this country telling them to smear a former president by telling him that ‘peace talks’ suck!
I wonder why Hannity and all his rightwing loons don’t ever condemn The Pope with his peace talks, eh?
You never hear that, right?
When a pope or a Republican wants peace talks, ITS OK
But when Jimmy Carter wants peace talks..’HE WONT DO IT!’ HE IS A TRAITOR!! AHHHH’
My god. look at what this nation has become.
Its scary.
April 19th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Ya; Lou, Jimmy is a BOOB !Talk to the animals, and they will talk to you ! Liberal Bilge. They want to KILL you Lou ! The Pope and the republicans understand that, liberals DONOT. This nation has become cowardly [like liberals].You talk to em, I’ll keep my gun loaded.
Jimmy Carter SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME ! Larry, Moe, Curly, & Jimmy.

Nice ridiculous ad hominem attack, Louie. You’re not using Windows operating system to read this are you? Better dump it – Bill Gates is a college dropout. I hope you don’t want a pizza in thirty minutes – Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza, college dropout.
What’s your degree? BS, M.(ore)S. or P(iled)H(igher) and D(eeper)?

Meanwhile, on the same day you posted this, Alan, Hamas sent 3 suicide bombers out to kill some Israeli’s. (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/20/world/middleeast/20mideast.html?_r=1&ref=world&oref=login)

Some of them may want to kill us, but all of them know that we are capable of wiping them off the face of the planet. Talking with your enemy is not such a new or novel idea , in fact isn’t that what’s going on here in these comments?
April 20th, 2008 at 9:29 am
Once again liberals are going to have to drag conservatives kicking and screaming into political and economic prosperity.
We’ve done the republican thing already. There’s no argument, refuse to talk with enemy nations?
See: Bush
Wage war on the middle east?
See: Bush
Use political might and sanction every country we hate to deal with.
See: Bush
I’ve seen this movie before. No more Bush please.
April 20th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
wow that cease fire sure lasted…NOT EVEN 24 HOURS BOOM!!!!!!!!!! thanks Jim
April 20th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Oh, please people.
What the hell is the problem with TALKING? A lot can be solved through intelligent and patient discussions with another party. Think of civil disobedience, MLK and Ghandi… it is not always necessary to resort to violence to achieve your goals. If talking doesn’t work, then and only then should other more physical options be pursued.
April 20th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
LOL, I guess Tom MonHanna, and Jerryrollin HATE the fact that they support a high school diploma, college drop out like hannity!
LOL, truth hurts doesn’t it?
The pope and the republicans understand what?
Didn’t the pope was AGAINST the Iraq war?
Doesn’t the pope preach peace through his messages he carries?
Oh wait, when the pope wants peace talks, ITS OK
When a Democrat like Jimmy Carter does it, HE IS A TRAITOR TO THIS COUNTRY!!
Neocons like Tom Mchanna, and Jerryrollin are just hypocrites!
Exposed! sorry,
Now, go support your college drop out, with his high school diploma Hannity, telling you what to say and think on his stupid radio show..
LOL
Hey i would love to see if you two boobs have college hours or even a college diploma and for you two to be supporting a college drop out with only a high school diploma like Sean Hannity!
haha

History will judge Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush on their accomplishments in keeping the peace and making peace. I’ll leave it to history, rather than try and spin it.
April 21st, 2008 at 9:06 am
Bi lateral talks?? whats that? If we are going to send a message to the middle east….Arnold Schwartzenager is our man!!
April 21st, 2008 at 4:10 pm
What’s wrong with negotiating peace and we find out that Hamas keeps it’s end of the deal? If Hamas breaks the deal then Israel should deal with them swiftly. I can’t help but think that a world where Israel and their neighbors aren’t fighting would be a better world. I learned years ago that if you keep trying the same thing, you’re always gonna get the same result-unfortunately this administration and those “You’re a great American” Conservatives haven’t learned that.
ps-I don’t know how Colmes can stomach even being in the same room as that twerp Hannity.

Everyone calling the show tonight (Monday, 04/21) is just downing Carter without offering any solutions.
Why is it that those so critical of his actions are unable to propose any alternate actions? One caller was definitely looking at the situation from a more fundamentalist Christian view point. Nothing wrong with that. But I would encourage him and other conservative Christians to remember the whole “blessed are the peacemakers” comment that Jesus made. If opening up a dialog with this people doesn’t work, THEN you pursue other options. Everyone seems to want to skip the ‘dialog’ and ‘diplomacy’ parts, and head straight to the ‘declare war’ part.
