On Friday’s Radio Show…
• Former Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-MO), who ran for president in 1988 and 2004, weighs in on the 2008 race.
• Famed historian Howard Zinn discusses his latest book, A People’s History of American Empire.
• It’s the Friday Night Free-For-All!

Ask him about the Jefferson quote on Dissent, which isn’t actually Jefferson’s, as far as can be gathered; not knocking the quote, though. I don’t have an absolute definition for patriotism. I suppose intent matters most.

Alan, there is audio of Billy Graham’s anti-semetic remarks that you just mentioned. Jon Stewart played the audio on his show last week.
I had never heard this before. I was shocked actually. Very disappointing to hear.

hey! no hannity & colmes tonight???
why?
i know what foxnews are doing!
they created Hannity’s America to someday replace hannity & colmes..
they put hannity’s america in the same time slot as H&C to see how the ratings are. if they are good, alan colmes could be gone from foxnews primetime..
just like they did with john gibson
foxnews took down conservative john gibson, imagine what they can do with colmes!
oh boy..

with no offense to alan colmes it might as well be hannity’s america mon thru fri cause hannity’s right wing agenda dominates the show without any input from colmes and colmes is the left wing puppet. if foxnews was truely fair and balanced they would give colmes his own show.

Jon raises an interesting point.
Would people watch an Alan Colmes show? I don’t think that conservative America will be able to stomach it. They don’t know enough about Alan to know that he really does present a ‘fair and balanced’ show, in the sense that all views are welcomed and allowed to defend themselves. Conservative America hates Alan b/c he’s the opposite of Hannity. That’s it. If Alan said exactly what Sean said, agreeing with him on every point, then they’d all be saying how much they love them BOTH. Alan’s the opposing view point, therefore he is to be hated.
With that being said, I think that the only liberal shows that have been successful are THE DAILY SHOW and THE COLBERT REPORT on Comedy Central. So Alan would have to focus on bringin’ on the funny, as opposed to just being funny.

That’s not Alan’s thing. He’s more about encouraging political dialogue.

Conservatives also forget how long the Hannity & Colmes show has been on. If Alan sucked so much, it would have become THE HANNITY SHOW years ago.
