Bolton: Bomb Bomb Bomb…Iran

May 7th, 2008, 8:22 PM EDT

He told Martha McCallum on Fox News that he could “definitely” imagine a scenario where Bush hits Iran before he leaves office, and that Israel would be “delighted”. The video is at Think Progress.

Just a few days ago he told Fox’s Jamie Colby that attacking Iran would be “the most prudent thing to do.”

Last August, former CIA agent Bob Baer told FNC that Bush would likely strike Iran in the “next six months.” And Bolton’s take on that was that Bush was “fully entitled” to do so, and that he hopes it’s true.

  1. We loved Bob Baer in “Syriana”. He could stand to drop a few pounds though.

Bolton and the Neocons, they’re kind of crazy aren’t they?

They should all be in jail. Instead, they aren’t only still on the loose but they’re still on TV. Worse, they seem to still hold passes to the West Wing.

  2. December 9 1992: there’s only weeks left in the term of George the First when American forces land in Somalia.

And remember how that turned out?

  3. whats wrong with bombing iran? *cough*

  4. This is why the rest of the world has grown to hate us.

I don’t believe anything these guys say anymore. They’ve established a clear and disgusting record of lying to the public. And I’m not just talking about Iraq, I’m talking about ‘Nam and Iran-Contra (some go as far as WW2/Pearl Harbor).

God… how do we end this cycle?

For anyone who hasn’t seen THE KINGDOM with Jamie Fox yet, I really recommend it. Especially to those with a ‘bomb the hell out of ‘em’ attitude.

  5. Another Bush appointee requiring hasty replacement.

  6. He wants to start another war??? We can’t afford the two wars he’s started already! I’ve had it with these republican clowns. I wish the democrats would grow a pair and throw them all out of office and into jail, where they belong!!!

Throw them out of office? Do you mean a coup? Very Democratic huh? What happened to voting them out?

Jail? On what legal grounds? Please be specific.

  8. Annie~ I agree. There needs to be an official inquiry into all of the bullshit the public was fed regarding Iraq. I mean, really. How is it possible for a government official to get away with creating “facts”?

Damn it. I’m on vacation. No more politics.

  9. yEah, they’ll be voted out and as far as jail goes, well I think the more reasonable thing would be to have them all committed to the funny farm as they could all be certified as totally bonkers.

  10. Oh good grief.

I’m all for having Israel’s back. After all, they are our most important middle eastern ally. But haven’t we learning the lessons of irresponsible pre-emptive war and such overwhelming militarism? I’m sure that Dr. King is rolling is his grave.

Hell, we’re already so bogged down in Iraq in Afganistan (sadly, mostly Iraq), that we can’t keep our OWN country safe. Even the administration admits that there are not enough troops in Afghanistan, but yet we want to go starting ANOTHER war? How can that be possible without I draft.

I can hear the chants starting now….
    “HELL NO, WE WON’T GO!!!”

  11. Yet another neocon scumbag who’d slap a kid out of the way in a race into a bunker if it came down to it!

  12. Iran is interfering in Iraq?! What is the US doing…what a boat load of scumbags. Defencive measures!? What a complete moron this halftard is! Warmongers are all pussies in real life!

  13. I agree that the situation in Iraq has been a horribly flawed and misscalculated operation, and going into Iran without provocation is equally if not, in the light of what has happened with Iraq,a worse idea. I’d just like to see the arguements against this situation contain thought out opinions rather than one line character assumtions and name calling. It doesn’t lend any credence to those views when there is no coherent thoughts presented.

  14. Craig:
You agree that the situation in Iraq has been horribly “flawed”? We’ve lost 4071 (as of 5/5/08) American soldiers and countless Iraqi lives because of this “flaw” you speak of. Perhaps human life isn’t worth as much to you as it is to me.

  15. Again, little one liners lacking any substantive theories or possible solutions.

  16. Uhh…..what was so “one liner” about my post?

Attacking Iran would be a bad move for many reasons. We’ve already seen what harm rushing into a pre-emptive war does…I don’t think that we need to repeat that mistake. On top of that, we’re already so bogged down in Iraq in Afghanistan that we’ve left our own country vulnerable. How will be ever be able to find the troops and the resources to attack Iran without a draft?

  17. Michael,I wasn’t refering to you. You give arguements for your positions. I was refering to Annie’s post, which gave a death count and unsubstanciated comment about how I may view the worth of a human life. Her response was to a previous post of mine that she clearly didn’t understand.

  18. Craig, sorry for the misunderstand. I’ll add that I enjoy having your coherent conservative voice around here. It’s a breath of fresh air with the likes of Ken and suntan trolling this place. :)

  20. Thanks Michael.
I guess due to some of my preferences I could fall in the catagory of conservitism, yet I try to approach things from an objective point of view and am certainly not above changing my stance on things if a coherent and logical arguement is presented.
