Chuck Hagel Not Endorsing McCain, But Lilibet Hagel Supports Obama

May 29th, 2008, 12:03 PM EDT

Lilibet Hagel, the wife of retiring Nebraska Repubican Senator Chuck Hagel has donated to the Obama campaign, and Chuck Hagel, once McCain’s closest friend in the Senate, both Vietnam vets with adjacent offices, refuses to endorse the Republican from Arizona.

  1. Interesting. Lilibet’s not interested in the McCain kool-aid.

  2. Ha!!!! My first kool-aid joke!!!!!

  3. I always like Chuck Hagel. I think he’s too good to be republican.

  4. I am pulling for an Obama-Hagel ticket. He is getting out of the Senate and would ripe for the job. Hagel would bring a lot of credibility and experience. Obama ( who is a big fan of D.K. Goodwin’s book Team of Rivals about Lincoln) would be just the candidate to bring a Republican on board.

  5. Forget all of this talk about an Obama-Hillary ticket, in my opinion Obama-Hagel would be the real “dream ticket”. How amazing it would be if we could break party ranks and really have an administration that would unify and strengthen this great land.

  6. I think any of the following tickets would be good tickets for crossing ideological and/or partizan boundaries: Obama/Nunn, Obama/Hagel, Obama/Chafee, Obama/Bloomberg.
