Fight The Smears

June 12th, 2008, 6:13 PM EDT

That’s fightthesmears.com, where there are responses to the various smears of Barack Obama. There is no tape where Michelle Obama says “Whitey”, he was never a Muslim, his birth certificate is available, and, shock of shocks, here is Obama leading the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance with his hand over his heart:

Responses to this post...

  1. So everyone can see Obama birth certificate, what so there is nothing interesting about that. I guess that is the researcher in me who has seen multiple of birth and/or death certificates legally.

His mother was a US citizen, so therefore he is a US citizen. Regardless of what the truth is or how much we tell them, there will be a few people who will believe in these lies. I feel sorry for them.

  2. This website is a waste of time. If Obama wants to prove he’s not a Muslim, just have him eat a rib or a pork sausage this BBQ season. If he won’t eat the pig, then the people will dig. Anyone who thinks Kerry got beat by not responding didn’t pay close attention to the election. Kerry saved his money because the attacks were rebutted by the record. Kerry was ahead after the first debate. Bush had the box for the second debate. Clinton took over the campaign and that CBS AWOL story “Swiftboated” Kerry. The documents were false and that attacked Kerry’s integrity. Kerry had 10 million dollars left. The strategy used was “Rope-a-dope.” We did.

  4. ^ See what I mean? It never ends. Yes it IS a smear when it is a LIE. All this racism and bigotry continues. Even Michelle Malkin is disgusted over the Michelle Obama “whitey” tape which was and is a HOAX! She wrote a column about it on her site. So I must begrudgingly thank her. Thanks Michelle.

I know a lot more than what is currently available but I’m not going to talk about it at this point. I’ll just say there are other “smears” in the works against Obama right now…

I signed up for the site this morning. Yay!

Oh and John McCain. The political ad about Obama being a Muslim produced by the Willy Horton guy? Senator McCain did not disavow himself from it. He said he doesn’t want to be a referee. He did not distance himself from it at all. Shame on you Senator McCain.

  5. Justine, I agree there are other “smears” and rumors going around that are not listed here. Just because it is on the internet or someone claim something does not mean it is true. People can make fake photos and video now look real, so we even have to be careful with those.

  6. Ummm… “fight the smears” rhymes with “fight the queers”.

I’m just sayin’ folks, I’m just sayin’. I guess that first caller tonight has got me thinking about hateful attitudes. Anyway, the regulars here know that I’m not anti-gay.

Cecil~ LOL, man! That’s awesome, and SO TRUE! :-D

  7. For the last time Barack Obama is not a Muslim! He’s Jewish! Oy!

  14. Have to clean up the smears my cats make. They are all males and very demanding. Did I mention they whine and complain when the other one is getting attention.

  15. Male cats are no different from any other male animal.

Epiphany, you are crazy girl. :-) I hate pap smears.

I don’t know about this Willie Horton business… have to go search that Google thing McCain was talking about.

  16. Okay, I remembered the Willie Horton thing as soon as I saw the opening clip on YouTube.

At first I thought it a little harsh when a caller a few minutes ago said that Floyd Brown didn’t have a moral bone in his body… but it now seems quite accurate. Playing to someone’s racial fears just solidifies that fear, perpetuating a generational cycle of violence that inevitably hurts everyone.

    What a dick.

  17. I hate pap smears AND mammograms. But they can save your life.

You probably haven’t had a mammogram yet. So I don’t want to scare you… MAMMOGRAMS ARE A FUN TIME! WHOOHOO!

  18. E~ FuryUs cracks me up. She’s like a younger, more coherent Della LOL LOL LOL

Nope, no mammo yet. I can barely handle the pap, who knows how I’ll be able to handle the mammo.

  19. But let us not forgot about DR. Papsmear from “The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!” (1988).

    A fine gentleman indeed.

  20. Speaking of bagels, I just bought some strawberry creamed cheese… my soon to be 4 year old son is always stealing it out of the fridge and eating it with his fingers… so I bought some more this week and hid it in a corner of the fridge this week… went to make some bagels last night and the creamed cheese was GONE!!!! Damn it! And he doesn’t know that it’s called creamed cheese, so I kept asking him “where’s the stuff? where’s the pink stuff?”. *sigh* He didn’t know what I was asking, and I couldn’t discipline him b/c he wouldn’t know what he was being disciplined for.

So, I was forced to use butter and strawberry jelly on my bagel. It was good! I hadn’t done that before.

Anyway, I’m scared that my son left the creamedcheese bowl in a corner under toys to attract a million ants into our home.

  21. Talking about smears just came across this tonight while surfing. I do not think the facts are true and the preacher is nuts. Ok there are several preachers that are nuts, but this one is nuts too.

Alan, I think your co-host might needs a vacation or something from his radio show. Yeah, I am a Republican but please we do not need to do stuff like this to the other political party’s candidate.

  22. I only got halfway through the vid. That guy is CRAZY, and this is a publicity stunt for his church. His anger wasn’t real, it was falsified for effect. Furthermore, the things he’s saying are absolutely atrocious and not founded in Jesus’ teachings. He’s got a “Jesus Is Lord” banner hanging on the podium before him. Oh, please.

Say what you will about Wright, but everything he said in those clips was rooted in fact. Wright had REAL anger about the “U.S. of KKK A”. You may not like it, but he didn’t pull that metaphor out of no where. God “damn” America was rooted in Biblical Scripture, but Conservative Christians are so in love with the New Testament that they conveniently forget about God’s repeated acts of damnation in the Old Testament.

Although I don’t wholeheartedly agree with Wright, up until his performance at the NPR I saw him as an honest man full of righteous anger. This guy here is a “false prophet” and opportunist.

Hannity, Levin, and Limbaugh will give air time to anything that puts Obama in a negative light because it suits their conservative agenda.

  23. the pastor’s website is http://www.atlah.org

    he is an arrogant psycho

  24. shmear. If it’s on a bagel it’s a shmear. Which I know ’cause before Noah’s Bagel’s got all corrupted and corporate it started out right here in Berkeley. And they had lox shmears.

  25. Cheryl, I think blacks have a right to be angry about a lot of things, but the “US of KKK A” is still inappropriate in church, especially for a potential President’s (old) church. Did the white man create AIDS?

I’m sure Rev. Wright is a nice guy and has done a lot of good things…he certainly built up his church and has helped his community. I will even grant you the “G-D-America” vis-a-vis the Old Testament, which I still think is pushing it. But the KKK and AIDS comments are just unequivocally inappropriate, wrong, and very racially insensitive (at the very least) for a potential President’s pastor to be uttering. He never apologized, either, did he?

  26. *sarcasm alert*
GOP: Oh no! The smears won’t stick now! Whatever shall we do?!
McCain: I know! Let’s go after his liberalism!
GOP: That won’t work! The country knows we’re a buncha fascists! We need to go after his race!
    McCain: Perfect!

  27. If Joe from Toadsuck, Arkansas smears Barack Obama and John McCain doesn’t hop on the first puddlejumper into the Toadsuck airport to have a tet-a-tet and denounce him in person, then every Republican in the country is condemned as a mudslinger of the worst sort. Democrats on the other hand aren’t expected to denounce Markos Zuniga, Dan Rather or George Soros when they smear someone. It’s even okay for Barack Obama to **PERSONALLY** lie about John McCain’s record on Guantanamo Bay with nary a peep from his fellow Democrats. When some liberal makes an outrageous statement, Colmes gets to hide behind “I don’t speak for all liberals,” but if a conservative makes an outrageous statement it’s never enough to say, “That is an idiot claiming to be conservative and I don’t agree with him.” Enough with the double standard.

  28. So if this wasn’t a potential President’s church then you wouldn’t care about the remarks? That’s silly. If they’re wrong then they’re wrong.

The KKK remark was not inappropriate for church, especially since he was speaking to a congregation that most likely shared his sentiments. I don’t know if you’d call that a metaphor or figurative speech, but for him and many others it was an accurate statement.

This comment is no different than an anti-abortion preacher announcing that America is now the United States of Abortion, or that abortion is genocide or murder.

You disapprove of him commenting on society in church? What about the people who go to church because they seek spiritual guidance on how best to conduct themselves within their society? I can’t speak for all religions, but in general the Christian church is supposed to help us deal with our social lives, in addition to the life we have with ourselves and our God.

Did the white man create AIDS? I don’t know. I understand how Wright can think this, though. I used to wonder if there was a cure for AIDS that was being held back, to allow drug companies to reap the profits from treatment medicines. I haven’t given this issue much thought in recent years b/c I’ve had other things to think about. AIDS is important, but I’ve been busy acclimating myself to single parenthood.

I don’t care that he didn’t apologize. Why should he? Because his comments were wrong to you because they don’t fit your view of reality, and inappropriate because you’ve lived your life in a different context? I don’t think he’s racially insensitive, I think that he’s experienced too much prejudice to let down his guard overnight, so to speak.

I base my opinions on Wright on the series of sound clips that were publicized, and the media circus that followed. I’ve never heard anything that expressed hatred for white America. Furthermore, black liberation theology was largely taken out of context. Liberation theology isn’t the sole intellectual property of blacks, it started with oppressed people in Latin America. Extremists have undoubtedly perverted the intent of this theology- as they do in all theologies- but this is supposed to be about helping people who have been continually told they’re nothing that they’re as much a human being as everyone else.

  29. ALAN WHAT PROOF DO YOU HAVE “THERE IS NO TAPE” OF HER COMMENTS ABOUT WHITEY? HUH? DO YOU HAVE PROOF?

DO YOU HAVE PROOF HE’S EVER DENIED SHE’S EVER SAID IT?

THE ANSWER TO ALL IS “NO” YOU DON’T.

DON’T GET SUCKED IN LIKE BUSH SHEEP DID TO THIS VERY DANGEROUS MAN.

HE IS NOT GOOD FOR THE PARTY, HE IS NOT GOOD FOR THIS COUNTRY.

  31. The Obama’s must run a very dirty house with all those smears that they are worried about, can not take the heat I see! Obama came from a Muslim family and a mostly Muslim country so he is Muslim. Now saying that, why is he so ashame of what he is?

  32. “ALAN WHAT PROOF DO YOU HAVE “THERE IS NO TAPE” OF HER COMMENTS ABOUT WHITEY? HUH? DO YOU HAVE PROOF?”

The burden of proof is on the claimant. If someone says there’s a tape, I’m under no obligation to give it credence until you produce said tape.

It’s just like you cannot prove that there’s no invisible purple dragon in my garage. If I say there is, it’s up to me to give you evidence.

  33. How do you prove that something DOESN’T exist?

Please be concise and succinct. How do you prove a NEGATIVE?

I just had a brilliant idea. Prove it exists by showing the video. Hmmmmm?

I have photographs of Hillary Clinton having sex with Dick Morris in the back of a MacDonalds. Now prove to me they don’t exist.

  34. The claim that AIDS was invented by a white man may be ridiculous, but more than a few blacks think that. That’s based on the experiments the ‘genuine official US government’ experiments on blacks during the 20th century with various STDs.

  35. Flap:
Rev. Wright doesn’t need to apologize. He’s not running for office. He is a preacher who said inflammatory things that were used by Fox “News” as a way to smear Obama.
You want to hear really nasty preacher rantings?
Listen to Pat Robertson, Rev. Parsley, Rev. Hagee, etc. But I guess that wouldn’t interest you – you’re not interested in what white preachers say.

  36. Rev. Parsley? Is he related to Revs. Sage, ROsemary and Thyme?

  37. Tom~ lol, man.

Epiphany~ what the hell?!!! i told you not to tell anyone about the photographs!!!

    :-)

  38. Tom I did that joke 2 months ago. And I copyrighted it. Pay up man.

  39. Cheryl don’t be upset. It’s not like I admitted the truth that you took the shots. Your secret is safe with me.

  40. blast it, E! now they do know it was me!

dammit. now everyone’s going to know where the michelle obama “whitey” tape is being hidden.

  43. I don’t know, folks. I remain skeptical. I’ve seen the “evidence” that “clears President Elect Obama and I could duplicate the birth certificate picture on my computer at home and I find there are some disconnects in the whole school thing. I am not saying the rumors are true and, since he won the election, I sincerely hope they are not. However, I see nothing here that clears things up. Just one side desperately trying to prove the other side wrong while neither side has conclusive evidence.
