yeah, there’s nothing moral about two guys getting it on…they don’t get it that the poopchute is to get RID of things, not take them in!
Unfortunately morality is a thing few Americans truly understand these days Steve.
That pic Alan posted is disgusting. But sure, let ‘em love each other…I really don’t care. However, the moral roots of marriage between a man and a woman still stand. Otherwise, it’s just not natural.
You ask “Who says they shouldn’t be allowed to love each other legally?”. My answer is no one. They cannot marry legally, but they can love each other. There is a huge difference. Nice red hearing though, it almost worked.
You know, I get so sick of hearing about gay rights. Personally I do not care one single bit about who you love, who you are sleeping with, dating, or anything else. I do not care and I do not want to know…from ANYONE!
I believe that a lot of people are annoyed with gay rights because it is constantly being thrown into everyone’s face.

First!
Lots and lots and LOTS of people say they shouldn’t be able to legally share their love.
The nation is going to have to engage in a lot of loving, intelligent discourse to understand all sides of this issue and agree on a fair solution.

Marriage exceeds the selfish definitions some try to place upon it.
Minds need to be open to the FACT that denying gays something as personally significant in most people’s lives as the right to marry is far the greater “evil” than the assault felt by those trying to deny that to them.
I’m tired of this issue. I don’t care about stupid arguments for the status quo. You feel offended, but they are denied, treated as a lower class. They (gays) have the bulk of my sympathy, as well they should.

That was really well said and I couldn’t agree more.

Why should anyone care what two consenting adults want to do? I could care less.
I don’t go in for that type of thing, but that’s just me, to all else, whatever flips your burger.
June 17th, 2008 at 6:14 am
I love everybody.
What I don’t love is seeing symbols with a specific meaning, like “marriage” corrupted.
Abraham Lincoln: “How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it a leg.”
May the sophists be ignored.

Hey Anybody ever read the Book of Genesis in the Bible about two Cities called Sodom and Gemorahh, They haf Same sex Couples there too, and look what God Almighty did to them. I Believe both California and Massachusetts will have major disasters in the next few years, just both Both Cities in the book of genesis. also read the Books of Leviticus, and Corinthians, and the first Chapter of Romans.

America doesn’t care who we sleep with. America cares who we sleep around with in public. America isn’t against equity. America is against “Public Displays of Affection.” Al Gore’s kiss was just as offensive as lesbians kissing at a baseball game. Stop the inappropriate public displays of affection and all the handsignals in public restrooms and movies. That’s what America wants. Who cares if people wearing comfortable shoes get married?

Epiphany agreed with him. I agree AND disagree. It all depends on your definition of “evil”. I can honestly see both sides of the issue. Let me put my 2 cents in…
Last night Alan asked one of his callers to take him step by step through the process of the collapse of our society (due to legalizing gay marriage). The caller just kept saying gays will get married and our society will collapse, lol. Let me try to speak for him:
1. Gays are not allowed to be married bc homosexuality is abhorrent to God. Bc God doesn’t like homosexuality, same-sex love has historically been illegal, in America and elsewhere.
2. Contemporary Christians believe that America was founded on Christian principles, which for the most part it was. Although a handful of the founding fathers were Deists, many more were members of a particular Christian denomination.
the following link has a list of the fathers, by religious affiliation
http://www.adherents.com/gov/Founding_Fathers_Religion.html
June 17th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Notable Deists- Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin
by “Christian principles” I am of course referring to the Ten Commandments.
3. Americans have had a sense of Manifest Destiny, especially since the Revolution. The feeling that God has ordained America to be a “blessed” nation is a very strong part of our culture. This feeling comes from the escape of European religious persecution in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the victory over Britain during the 18th century.
(Now, forget about the fact that early settlers used their feeling of Diving Providence to kick Indians off their land. Forget that they used the Bible to justify slavery.) In order to retain our blessed status, we must continue to live Godly lives. That means that we don’t establish any laws that are contrary to God’s will. As long as we stay true to our Christian foundation, we will continue to be a magnificent force in the world.
June 17th, 2008 at 10:55 am
4. A Christian person and nation are known by the “fruits” of their labor. In other words, when you behave in a Godly way you receive Godly things. God = Good, so you get good things. (see Matthew 7:16, James 3:12 as examples)
5. When we stop doing Godly things, we will lose that divine blessing.
6. In addition to losing the divine blessing, we will see our society collapse because
June 17th, 2008 at 11:03 am
God didn’t just give us laws to boss us around. Those laws are primarily there for our protection. Because God created life, he knows how our societies should be structured in order for our lives to be as successful as possible. Gay marriage will contribute to the collapse of our society in the same way that premarital sex has- healthy family structures will disappear, children will grow up without morals, contributing to a criminal and self-obsessed culture that will ultimately fail.
June 17th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Now, I don’t necessarily agree with the aforementioned sequence of events. I’m just explaining why the Conservatives are freaking out.
June 17th, 2008 at 11:19 am
I think Christianity is bullshit, so I don’t care if gays get married. All these Christian assholes forget we are supposed to have freedom of religion. Yet here we go again having Christian beliefs forced on everyone. Allowing gays to get married isn’t going to destroy our country. Having a President with disdain towards the Constitution is a slightly bigger problem…
June 17th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
If God did not intend for marriage to be between a man and a woman it would been Adam and Steve instead of Adam and Eve.
Besides I hate seeing gays couples anywhere doing stuff. Sorry it is unnatural and gross.
June 17th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Then stay inside and never go out so your little eyes don’t see anything that hurts your wittle feelwings…
June 17th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Who says they shouldn’t be married? The millions of people that voted gay marriage down.

Right. I understand. And I might be thinking the same thing if I saw you on the street as well.
Life is tough.

From the Daily Kos:
Progress
It’s nice when our society scores against the forces of intolerance, isn’t it?
That’s Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin, who have been in a loving, committed relationship for 50 years. They were the first to marry when San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom challenged the old-fashioned restrictions on same-sex marriage. That challenge led to the litigation that ultimately led to the legalization of love in the Golden State. And now, their marriage is for real.
Lyon and Martin will now be able to inherit from each other, have hospital visitation rights, and share in the many of the same things straight couples do (with the exception of federal benefits.) What won’t change is the state of your marriage. You and your husband or wife will still be able to love each other, raise your kids, file a joint tax return, and all the things you’ve been doing together for years. And if all that comes crashing down around Tony Perkins and Jim Dobson because Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin got married yesterday, they may feel the urge to scapegoat them. If allowing gays to marry is going to affect their marriages, then they probably just have a shitty marriage to begin with.

Re: Epiphany, thank you.
As for how society will be affected, it won’t, if people stop reacting absurdly. If marriages collapse; society degradates, it’ll be due to weak foundations, and the cowardly responses to it will be due to the pitifulness of those persons.

“I hate seeing gays couples anywhere doing stuff. Sorry it is unnatural and gross.”
I hate seeing OLD couples doing stuff. The pic on this thread is okay, but Viagara commercials have traumatized me. Honestly. I’m not trying to be mean, and I know that I’ll be over 40 one day myself (God willing), but still…
Two of my closest friends are lesbians. I had dinner at their house Saturday. They kissed in front of me. It was gross. The same way it’s gross when my brother and his girlfriend kiss in front of me.
June 17th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
The only time PDA’s are not gross, in my opinion (which of course only matters to me) are:
weddings/commitment ceremonies
airports/bus stations/train stations, etc.
clubs, bars, and parties b/c you know that the PDA offenders are probably just toasted and ready to get it on
Just my humble opinion.
June 17th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed because of their greed and their treatment of the poor.
Anyone should be allowed to marry. Who cares?
I’ve got a few weddings to attend coming up!
June 17th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
To each their own.
Not my bag, but I wouldn’t wish to impose that view on others. Where is the hurting party here? I don’t see one. Thus, go for it.
June 17th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Which GOD are we talking about? Christians seem to always fail to remember there were other Gods before the one they hold so dear. Not everyone believes as they do, much to their permanent displeasure.
Typical bigotry from the far right as usual.
June 17th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
My readers will find this hard to believe, but I think it is a state issue to be settled by the lawmakers of that state. The gay marriage in one state may not carry any power in another state however.
I however, would be opposed to a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as a union between two people.
Words mean things and the definition of marriage is the union between a man and a woman.

Go Ahead but don’t forget, this also means that you have to give up one of your Social Security checks, pay alimony, or in Ellen Degenerates case…give half of her big earnings earnings to Portia in case of a split. Does this “love” issue really have any meaning? Everone knows that two alike genetials just don’t go together Except you!
June 19th, 2008 at 12:31 am
lol, jerry. but you need to stop hatin’. you don’t have to be gay to be f’ugly.
