McCain Advisor Black: Another Terrorist Attack “Would Be A Big Advantage”
To McCain, that is. In an interview in Fortune Magazine McCain’s chief strategist Charlie Black also said the assassination of Benazir Bhutto was good for them.
The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an “unfortunate event,” says Black. “But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who’s ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us.” As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. “Certainly it would be a big advantage to him,” says Black.
Black has served up the obligatory mea culpa:
Black, interviewed by reporters as he stood outside McCain’s fundraiser, said: “I deeply regret the comments. They were inappropriate. I recognize that John McCain has devoted his entire adult life to protecting his country and placing its security before every other consideration.”

More proof that McCain will only be another Bush.
As if we needed more proof.

I’m real tired of all these bullshit apologies.

It’s Kerry vs. Bush all over again. I’m praying that the public has learned from that lesson… But playing to fears of terrorist attacks has a record of being effective. So does playing on the public’s fear of a weak economy. I feel that this November, much of the low and middle classes will be choosing between a safe nation or an affordable one.
RC~ I hear ya, man. These people need to say what they mean, mean what they say, and stick to their guns regardless of how their statements are received. There’s a lack of honesty in our leaders. Rather than making honest statements, they seek to make socially acceptable statements. Screw that. Give me honesty. Give it to my politely, but give it to me.

Shel Silverstein.

LOL, Fury.
Yeah, that does sound like something from a Shel Silverstein “children’s” book. lol

I love Shel Silverstein.
My favorite is Sylvia Cynthia Platt.
Is he stii alive?
June 23rd, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Silverstein’s gone, I believe. I’ve never heard of Platt.

“…say what they mean…”
And that’s exactly what this guy did, and apparently he doesn’t have the stuff to stand up and say that another attack would fit right in with the Republican strategy of fear.
June 23rd, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Democrats know the playbook that the Republicans will be using so now it’s time to beat them to the punch. We cannot use fear to sway the public to our side. We must prevent the use of fear and this will neutralize the “Terror Advantage.” The Party in power has access to information and the duty to keep us safe. Bush kept us safe after 9-11, but they used the threat unfairly to sway the elections. Osama Bin Laden must not vote in this election. I’d run posters of him “Wanted.” If you see this man, please do not let him cast the deciding vote for you. If he calls his cell phone, ATT must report this call to the proper authorities.

How would another attack help McCain?
– 9/11 happened because Bush ignored the threat to focus on missile shields and invading Iraq.
_ They let Osama and the Saudis off the hook for 9/11.
– They wanted to sell the ports to the United Arab Emirates.
– They did EVERYTHING al Qaeda wanted them to do.
– They resisted a 9/11 investigation.
– They WOULD NOT testify under oath.
– Bush couldn’t even testify by himself… he had to have Cheney with him.
– They did NOTHING about the anthrax attacks… remember that?

I suspected she was a Shel Character. I really just know of Shell from the boiled children line.

Wow, it is sad how far you have to misconstrue comments to make McCain look bad. You know as well as I do what his advisor was saying. It is sad to see someone with such intelligence stoop to such a low level. Honestly, pathetic.
