Grover Norquist: Obama Is John Kerry With A Tan

It’s obviously not enough for these right-wingers to disagree on policy. It’s not enough to criticize the presumptive Democratic nominee on his vision for America. You have to play the race card in order to score points, as conservative darling Grover Norquist of “Americans for Tax Reform” did.
Norquist dropped by The Times’ Washington bureau today and, as part of his negative critique of Obama’s liberal stances on economic issues and other matters, he termed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee “John Kerry with a tan.”

Because liberals never play the race card…oh wait Obama has. Liberals play the race card when it benefits them.

Ya know I seem to say this over and over so maybe I’ll just keep repeating this ever time I see a post.
The Republican attacks aren’t going to work this time and frankly it’s pretty pathetic to watch. They make these completely baseless attacks and don’t realize nobody buys it anymore.
Remember the November 2006 elections? How did they go for the Repubes? Or Feb 7, 2008? The day Romney dropped out and the official end to conservative control continuing past Jan 20, 2009. I think it’s something like 14 or so Repube senators that haven’t endorsed McCain. The McCain campaign makes a misstep every week. Even McCain supporters acknowledge this.
Idiot statements from somebody named Grover are just re-enforcing the perception that the Repubes are the party of racial intolerence and a disgust of the poor. As if being poor is because someone is lazy. Not the fact that the Bush Administration has let company after company leave the country.
This November is going to be a wake-up call to these buffoonish conservative fools that think everyone should be white and upper middle class. The Congress will certainly be a Democratic majority. Obama will have all the help he needs to repair the immense mess Idiot Bush has made…

Calling Obama “John Kerry with a Tan” is actually the key to Obama’s success. John Kerry united the party in 2004 by choosing not to fight internally. He embraced his biggest rival, but Kerry lost his nerve as the election drew close to the end. Kerry listened to all the right information, but he lacked the courage to follow his heart and win. Obama’s meteoric rise was partially due to Kerry’s vision. It’s a compliment because Kerry won 2004 yet he was defeated by the Clinton machine. Obama defeated the machine first and now he’s on track to win without getting tripped. Kerry learned from his past mistakes. Kerry, Edwards, Gore, Kennedy and Howard Dean all deserve much praise for defending this nation. I deserve a little credit too, but only cash pays the bills in Las Vegas. Did you hear the code words, “Toe to Toe?” I went “Toe to Toe” in 2004 for Kerry-Edwards. Obama was a project that began in 2000 under Al Gore. We can was offered in 2004 for Kerry. It seems to be working and this election looks like a landslide if the Clintons are on board.

Kerry was primarily snowballed by the republicans throwing possible future acts of terrorism in the face of Americans.
I would be interested to know what Norquist’s exact context of this statement was. I’m not really offended by it (I’m black). He probably holds equal disdain for both men, and is just siting the only obvious difference between them (the only difference to him).

Seems more of an anti-race card to me, pointing more to the overlapping daftness of Kerry and Obama politics.
Or is “not voting Obama” the new definition for racism?

Wow is that Grover from Sesame Street?
Nahhh doesn’t really look like him. Grover from Sesame Street is cuter. And smarter too.

I vote by according to whom I believe has the views that is closest to mine regardless of skin color, heritage, or anything else. This race is historical in the fact that there is a African-American running for the office for President. It could get more so after Obama and McCain names their vice-presidential running-mates. Even though I am not voting for Obama it is interesting to sit back and watch this election process unfold.
Other Republicans better be careful as referring to Obama as “John Kerry with a tan” or in any other terms simular. For Republicans and Clinton supports, g-e-t o-v-e-r i-t! Obama is not going turn into a white dude by late August nor into a woman. Obama is an African-American with a white mother. It may be hard for some to understand it was never Obama’s fault on who his parents were.

“Grover Norquist: Obama Is John Kerry With A Tan”
So, smart, informed, interested….
What’s wrong with that?

“Obama Is John Kerry With A Tan”
Maybe Norquist is unaware that his statement is factually incorrect, and that we have people in the US who are generally referred to as “African-Americans”.

Democrats used to be called Liberals in Britain, and so the Republicans were the conservatives.
Oh well, I’m a democrat, so did that make me a liberal back in the day when Winston Churchill was alive?
I guess!

Grover Norquist and Jacko Abramoff are/were the “Axis of Evil”.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Lighten up. That’s not even close to “playing the race card.”
June 28th, 2008 at 12:58 am
none should be suprised to hear a new anti O’BAMA comment daily by the republicans operatives at FOX NEWS, AND CNN “journalist” like O’REILY & HANNITY and who TOUT THE PARTY LINE AT ALL COST.
BUT I BELIEVE IN AMERICA. AND THERE ARE ENOUGH GOOD SMART AMERICANS WHO ARE GOING TO MAKE AMERICA LIVE UP TO IT’S PROMISES TOUGHT TO US SINCE PRE-SCHOOL. AND NOT THE PART ABOUT BOMBS BURSTING IN AIR. IT’S EASY TO KILL EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING. THE HONOR IS IN NOT KILLING WHEN YOU CAN, SO EASLILY.

Why is this playing the race card? Are people that sensitive? A non-issue.
June 29th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Do you suppose that Grover Norquist was trying to tell a joke? (Remember “John McCain has been in D.C. since the earth cooled”) Nahhh. Republicans have no sense of humor.
June 30th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
“Republicans have no sense of humor.”
Exactly.
