It’s The Free-For-All

right on, RC
I just finished the pod for Friday’s show and I have two things to say:
1) Gun Rights for Pregnant Lesbian Illegals Seeking Abortions!
Ok, that was a joke.
2) A woman calls supporting gun rights, except she doesn’t want a gun of her own. She’s got a dog. It’s being trained as an attack dog. Break into her house while she’s sleeping and the dog will kill you. Is it illegal in her municipality to keep a trained attack dog in a private residence? She has no idea.
And that, my friends, is what’s wrong with people.
The simple point is that Friedman was disrespected by some punk who thinks her right’s exceed others, and that her actions spoke for the students at Brown. This isn’t about her politics, it’s about her tactics, as relatively benign as they may appear, and the arrogance with which she defends them. She also criticizes Brown U.’s priorities. Even if she has a point on how well the school handles rape/sexual assault cases, she’s distracting from herself, a pitiful defense. I do not respect people like her. She’s a narcissist and Friedman should have gone after her, not been a push over in the name of some ridiculous higher ground which she’s too full of herself to even remotely learn from.
See my post on Thomas Friedman, Cheryl.
WFG~ i followed the link to the story. i guess i’m out of the loop, bc i don’t understand the connection between your comment and the story the link tracks to.

pooh~ you have an ivy down there in texas? it should do okay, as long as you keep it properly watered, but you don’t want to over water it.
it would be interesting to see Powell endorse Obama. i don’t know if it’ll happen though.

June 27th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
sorry Cheryl, had to go water my garden. 90 degree days would be great here. We were a cool 104 today.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
i’ve heard some con pundits say that obama’s ability to understand both sides of the issue as evidence of him being a flip-flopper. well, i personally appreciate someone who comes at an issue with understanding for all parties involved. that’s one hell of an effective way to achieve a good compromise.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
what do you garden LV? i’ve currently got some periwinkle, petunias i don’t like, lillies (pass bloom), celosia, salvia, dusty miller, and zinnia
June 27th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
coleus and begonia in my shade garden
June 27th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I have a pretty good variety of flowers, most of them are dying cause of the heat but they should come back. I love my irises. But I had to go water my tomatos and cucumbers to try to get them through the next couple of months.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Is Steve the trucker drunk?
June 27th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
bob~ did you hear coast last night? that guy (i think his name is gerald calente) predicting all sorts of economic doom?
June 27th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
My black labrador retriever’s name is “Libby.” She’s picking up some habits from lefty the entitlement hound. Libby barks at the computer whenever someone says they are a first time caller. Libby, Bonnie, and Lefty would get along swell.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
I once had an Iranian dentist for awhile. He was a sweetheart. Looked like the actor Andy Garcia. Adorable. Great dentist too!
I still miss him.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:15 pm

June 27th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
well, he was a lot of doom and gloom. i tried to look him up online, and couldn’t find a whole lot that showed whether or not he was reputable.
these are hard times, but they could certainly be worse. that doesn’t make this any easier, though. but sometimes it does make me grateful that i was at least able to get food in my house before my bank balance hit the negatives. :-D

June 27th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Oh no not the gun issue. After todays ruling I dont think anyone has to worry about guns being taken away.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Gun-ability? Gunnability? Who is she?
June 27th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
I love my guns. But that ruling didn’t affect me, no one would have gotten em. What’s that they say, pry them from my cold stiff fingers?

June 27th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Did Mcain reallly refer to Parsley as his spiritual adviser? I thought Mcain was smarter than that..
June 27th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

June 27th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Yeah , way back when this whole mess presidential race began…I think it was in another life and a parallel universe. I don’t even remember anymore.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
LV, did you say what kind of plants/flowers you have in your garden?
June 27th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
I got more conservative when the family came along and taxes started getting higher haha.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
my bad, i scrolled up and saw it. i want to incorporate some iris into the garden next year. and tulips. they’re pretty.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
I wasn’t too specific. There’s not much choice in the desert. I had to water my tomatos and cucumbers though. Only thing not dying off are my roses and irises. Something happened to my hearts n flowers though cause some of them are dying off. I hope they come back.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Cheryl, they are verry pretty. I usually get mine from cottage farms off of qvc. What they sell in the nurseries here are puny compared to them.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
Cheryl..LV said he lives in the desert..Reminds me of where Art Bell used to brodcast from ha ha…
June 27th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
LV~ are you male or female? just curious.
pooh~ are you male or female?
you guys have androgynous usernames.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:37 pm

June 27th, 2008 at 11:38 pm

June 27th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
He was a host on a late night program that Cheryl and I listened to..
June 27th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
bob, epiphany used to listen to art bell way back when. i’m not really a fan of his, remember?
cool, LV. nice to have more women representing here. so you say you order seed from QVC? i’ve only been gardening a year. i’m really enjoying it.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
OOOOO……..I think this caller needs to exercise his constitutional rights and change the dial!
June 27th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
art bell is this guy who used to host a radio show called COAST TO COAST. it’s about paranormal stuff, it comes on after alan’s show.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
QVC sells the plants. no seed. I think they had a bad year in Georgia though cause I had to get refunds on a few things I bought.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
that’s not the guy who does the way out there tv on some obscure tv channel is he? with his wife?
June 27th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
do you ever shop local for plants? i’ve found some good nurseries here where i live (fredericksburg, va).
next year i’m def going to have- calla lily, tulip, zinnia, coleus, hosta, iris. those are my favorites so far.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
no, i dont’ think it’s the same guy. here’s the website:
http://www.coasttocoastam.com
June 27th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I love hostas. My last house I had shady areas and they did so well there. I have no shade here. I go to the nurseries for the native plants and fruit trees. Things that will live here. I’m not real crazy about what they carry for this area, plus sometimes they’ll bring in California plants and they don’t do well here at all.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
spanish love song? beatnik cafe? what the hell is wrong with this lady…
June 27th, 2008 at 11:46 pm

June 27th, 2008 at 11:49 pm

June 27th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Cheryl bloomindesigns seems kinda expensive…do they have a guarantee? Check http://www.cottagefarms.com see if they have anything left.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
i went to that site, it doesn’t look like it’s for plants.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
shoot sorry, it’s cottagefarmsdirect.com
June 27th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
i haven’t ordered from bloomindesigns, i bookmarked them as a potential source for hosta next year. bc it looks like the only way for me to get some really unique hosta is to order it online. plus, i’m not really a big fan of the plain green varieties. i didn’t fall in love with the plant until i saw a large white/green outline in my neighbors garden.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:55 pm

June 28th, 2008 at 12:01 am
ha ha, sorry bob. would you like to talk about our fords again?
June 28th, 2008 at 12:02 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:02 am
Oh I love the daylilies here. They are so low maintenance and bloom nicely. If you get the reblooming daylilies you’ll have blooms from spring to fall.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:02 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:03 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:03 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:04 am
Is the podcast worth it Fury?
June 28th, 2008 at 12:04 am
I go away for five minutes and now it’s all about flowers? I can’t keep up. But then again what could be more apt for a lefty site than flower power. Hmmmm…
June 28th, 2008 at 12:05 am

fury~ you should go to hannity’s site, and join his “conservative singles” dating service. LOL
June 28th, 2008 at 12:05 am

lol RC
what you mean “5 minutes”? you’ve been gone for like 2 hours.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:06 am
When I bought this house the backyard was a blank slate. It’s killed off a few plants though because it’s full sun and gets hotter than hell out there for 3 months. I’ve got a couple of trees back there now, but they’re young. So no shade yet. I shelter my veggies with an umbrella during the day. My neighbors must think I’m a nut.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:06 am
down in Texas….90 degrees outside if anyone cares…
June 28th, 2008 at 12:06 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:18 am
If Alan drinks I think he will have a few after fighting through this show tonight.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:19 am
He gets run off the road by an SUV with an American flag sticker on it and this is an analogy to explain all of history. Man, that’s logic.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Did Alan ever mention what flavor ice cream he has at 2 am with his milk and cookies? I forget.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Yah,,,you know when I was stationed in Italy back in the 70’s it was about the same price though. They charged by the liter.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:20 am
oooh….ice cream….hitting the freezer!
June 28th, 2008 at 12:21 am
LV I was stationed in Naples but in the early 90’s
June 28th, 2008 at 12:22 am
actually, i thought it was a pretty good analogy to the ME FIRST, ME NOW mentality in much of our society
June 28th, 2008 at 12:22 am
Why did you have to bring up ice cream.Oh well look out freezer..
June 28th, 2008 at 12:23 am
First, I’m sick of hearing “informed” media personalities and politicians referring to the US as a democracy. It is a republic (thank YVWH), the rule of law, not man or the ‘mob’. It is clearly stated in the Constitution.
Second, people are so ignorant as to their rights that they think the only rights they have are granted to them by the Bill of Rights. This is not so as We The People have every right under the sun and are free to exercise them as long as we don’t interfere with the rights of others. So regardless of whether there is a 2nd Amendment, 4th Amendment, etc the People retain those rights until they give gov’t the power to restrict them via Constitutional amendment. In the case of the 2nd Amendment decision, it wouldn’t matter what the court’s decision was, because the gov’t doesn’t have the power to ban guns. Putting this into practice would be difficult however, because of the ignorance I stated before on all levels from individuals to politicians.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:23 am
In Tiajauna, the border city with San Diego, gas is about 2, 60 a gallon . . how’s that possible . . .? I don’t get it . .
June 28th, 2008 at 12:24 am
Bob, I was in Aviano. Beautiful country.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:24 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Thank you Professorio…
June 28th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Well….getting run off the road was probably an accident, but beating down the indian tribes probably wasn’t.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Thanks for clearing that up, LV . . . : )
June 28th, 2008 at 12:26 am
nateholio~ we’re not a republic, we’re a representative democracy.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:27 am
Naples was ok but dirty LV
June 28th, 2008 at 12:27 am
i also hear that the mexican gas may have a different mix of impurities than what we sell here.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:28 am
I took a trip down there then down to Rome. I don’t remember it being too dirty but that was a long time ago. Drove all through Europe…very pretty
June 28th, 2008 at 12:28 am

Amazing, i just read something that applies to Mexican gas. No not the chili-kind. Apparently the national gas company used to be a model of efficiency, but in the last ten years it’s been taken over by cronies of the Mexican president and now the outfit’s a mess.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:30 am
my sister’s in europe on a 3 week vacation right now. i’m SO jealous. i really want to go someday.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:30 am
I still don’t think Powell has the energy, plus I don’t know how many people even remember him.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:30 am
I remember Powell at the UN: “We know what they have, and we know where it is.”
June 28th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Hmmm. Thanx Cheryl, I am not sure, however alot of my friends live over there and drive over for work reasons, and it seems to work alright in their cars. Most would agree, they preferr the American gas, yet use the Mexican gas, obviously, because it’s cheaper . . .
June 28th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Is she going to a few countries or just one? I loved it over there. The open air markets every week. The climate..you could get anything for a bottle of jack daniels and a carton of cigarettes.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Hope you go someday Cheryl. It is worth to make it to europe…
June 28th, 2008 at 12:32 am
OOOO and the gelato!!!
June 28th, 2008 at 12:32 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:32 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:33 am
C, you could be right, heh.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Boy, you’re full of information Cheryl . . I’ll check in on it . .
June 28th, 2008 at 12:34 am
Hey whatever happened to this Twitty thing? Hitting refresh all the time is a lot of work.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:34 am
I hear ya Cheryl. As things are going now, I’m not willing to fly over there. And I’d definately stay out of the cities but those are what we go over there to see.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:34 am
ALAN THAT’S SO COOL! You know your basic natal astrology information!!! awesome
June 28th, 2008 at 12:35 am
@Cheryl
ROFL, read the Federalist Papers, a book entitled “Founding America: Documents from the Revolution to the Bill of Rights”, and the Constitution.
I’ll make it easy for you – “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government….” Article IV, U.S. Constitution
This is an example of the ignorance which has brought the Republic (yes, I referred to it as a republic) to the state it is in.
If you read various documents, you will find that many of the Framers thought any form of democracy a bad idea.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:36 am
lv~ my sister’s over there with her girl scout troop. she’s 17. they’re hitting all the major spots in europe.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:36 am
Now that is funny Alan.I guess you do have to worry about running into these people…
June 28th, 2008 at 12:37 am
Nate~ being a jerk is not the way to help bring people out of what you consider ignorance. i’ve read several of the federalist papers. we’re a REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:38 am
Cheryl, that is sooo cool. It’ll be a great learning experience for her. I was barely 18 when I got there.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:38 am
Nate, we don’t want facts. We want scurrilous suppositions that support our biased preconceptions. And who are you calling ignorant? I’m an Episcopalian, just like our Founders, so if anything I know best.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:39 am
Alan makes 10 times what the president makes..
June 28th, 2008 at 12:40 am
I’m catholic and THINK I know best lol
June 28th, 2008 at 12:40 am
How does Alan keep from laughing at these people..
June 28th, 2008 at 12:40 am
i don’t have time for heavy thinking right now. it’s friday night for God’s sake. come back with the democracy vs. republic debate on monday. and it IS a debatable issue.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:41 am

June 28th, 2008 at 12:44 am
That caller even hurt me all the way in Missouri..
June 28th, 2008 at 12:44 am
Alan: Nobody knows what he’s talking about.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:44 am
i don’t know. i wasn’t listening. i think maybe the guy was nervous.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:44 am
Good Nite, all.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:45 am
see ya Bama..roll tide
June 28th, 2008 at 12:45 am
@Cheryl
If you have read them, then please, enlighten me, where in them is the US referred to as a representative democracy? Im always willing to learn things.
@RC
ROFL, so being the same faith as our Founders (odd that they ALL were Episcopalian) means you know best. That, sir (or ma’am), truly makes my want to laugh. But at least you said “We want scurrilous suppositions that support our biased preconceptions.” which is the truth about most people I’ve met, right and left.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:46 am
Sorry….Bob the union man….
never, never, never roll-tide….

Maybe we should all get together and flood Alan with some “love mail.” It’d be kind of gay for some of us, but just as a joke I could deal with it.
June 28th, 2008 at 12:57 am
That was funny
June 28th, 2008 at 12:57 am
I think Alan is ready for the weekend..
June 28th, 2008 at 12:58 am

June 28th, 2008 at 3:04 am
Alan, you are a witty and smart commentator. But how do you handle all the crazy,i-hate-democrats and sometimes vile guests you have on Hannity & Colmes without bashing your head against the wall? (or against Hannity)
June 28th, 2008 at 3:23 am

by Epiphany June 27, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Why is there a T intruding in the word immoral?
June 28th, 2008 at 10:24 am
what does that mean, W?
June 28th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
wordplay. immortal minus the t
June 28th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Alan, I saw you get the last word in on the TV show and I’ve got to give you props. I’d refuse a “One way ticket to Gitmo”, but what I truly fear is the “Secret VIP Trip.” When you reach this level of threat to the administration, then you can truly wear the “Liberal Label” with pride. Be the “Bush Fly.”
June 28th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
interesting stories in the news. being a fan of alan and posting on LL is forcing me to get more of my stories from the fox news website, lol.
i found these interesting bc they all deal with topics we touched on on the blog last night.
Texas Court: 1st Amendment Protects Church’s Exorcisms

Americans Cross Mexico Border in Search of Cheaper Gas

cnn has an article i couldn’t find on fox, in reference to underage girls prostituting themselves on craigslist. depressing, isn’t it?

I knew that piece of shit would be arrogant and self-righteous. Friedman should have sued her ass.

June 28th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
No you have the trip thing all wrong. It is not just a Bush’s Secret VIP end of term trip. It is part of his plans for his first tv reality show when he gets out of office.
The show working title is “Media Survivior.”
June 28th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
WFG~ i followed the link to the story. i guess i’m out of the loop, bc i don’t understand the connection between your comment and the story the link tracks to.
???
June 28th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
See my post on Thomas Friedman, Cheryl.
June 28th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
June 28th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
I just finished the pod for Friday’s show and I have two things to say:
1) Gun Rights for Pregnant Lesbian Illegals Seeking Abortions!
Ok, that was a joke.
2) A woman calls supporting gun rights, except she doesn’t want a gun of her own. She’s got a dog. It’s being trained as an attack dog. Break into her house while she’s sleeping and the dog will kill you. Is it illegal in her municipality to keep a trained attack dog in a private residence? She has no idea.
And that, my friends, is what’s wrong with people.
June 29th, 2008 at 2:12 am
right on, RC
