I Guess This Is Fine As Long As Bush Doesn’t Negotiate With Them
Sometimes our president invades a country and kills its dictator because of human rights violations, and other times our president appears at opening Olympic ceremonies with a country whose dictator is guilty of human rights violations. And Obama gets criticized for wanting to talk to people like that.

The double standard isn’t the worst part, it’s that it’s pointless toward the end goal of holding these despots to account for Bush to live up to the standard imposed on Obama, because the world isn’t affected by it. You can’t guilt the UN, etc., into action.

China is a huge country, with very loose regulations. Can we truly fault them for letting the provinces hold sway over the rights of its people.
Hell I highly dislike Ole Shrub, but we need to quit being judgemental of other countries. Reminds me of that old saying, “I don’t come to your house and throw rocks at you while your mowing the grass.”

It may be different because of the diplomatic implications, but I disagree with the general statement that we should be less jugdmental. If anything, we aren’t judgmental enough. I don’t need perfection of self to know when others are flat scum.

Bush is nothing but a sock-puppet, it’s all show, to save face with the world. I imagine america is looked upon by other nations as the nation with the most lunatic idiots anyway. That’s the way it appears to me, and I live here. If I could get out with my guns and savings, I would gladly leave america.

something tells me this olympic games are going to end up like the 1972 games in munich. Bush would love that,he would leave office the same way he came in.

This is their double standard. Negotiating with dictators or human rights violators is bad — unless they have oil (like Saudi Arabia) or import lots of cheap goods and let corporate executives pay less for labor (China)

Well of course China could solve our problems with waiting lists for organ transplants, because when they execute people they harvest the bodies for transplantables.

hey jerry baby…you make a hell of a TARGET out there with the sun gleaming off your gun and the BS oozing from your mouth! The only good in the scene is the bible. Too bad you don’t practice what it says. Have a great day…and duck periodically.

The ChiComms are our [corporate sponsored] despots.
“What’s good for M & M Enterprises will be good for the country.”
The other despots BO speaks of aren’t ours. Not yet anyway. For now, they’re freelance despots and not to be tolerated or spoken to. Often, toleration can only be achieved through regime change.

You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Bush had to bow down to China because he owes them everything we have. Sometimes an athlete and the individual must decide what is right and wrong. The individual must decide if putting their life at risk for a peice of gold or silver is worth the human rights violations. No country can order them to go or not to go. It’s an individual choice. Bush made his choice when China Fed-Ex’ed our spy plane home.

Lefties always run on being sanctimonious towards China (Clinton made this a huge issue to bash Bush I over) but then they become just as pliable as the people the Left claim to disagree with.
Anyway.. what is the point? Does the Left want war with China?
July 7th, 2008 at 6:48 am
Maybe the real question here is what is the real and actual point of the Olympics, and do we as a nation want to be involved with it?
Mostly it seems like a vehicle for advertising by the Coca-Cola corporation, et al.
