Bush Shocks Foreign Leaders With Dumb Remark
Now they know what we have to live with. Before leaving the G-8 meeting in Japan, Shecky Bush did a little joke. The reluctant environmentalist, the one who’s refused to join international efforts to combat global warming, the non-signer of the Kyoto Treaty, said, “Goodbye from the word’s biggest polluter.”
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy appeared shocked at the comment Bush made before leaving the G-8’s last meeting at the Windsor Hotel in Hokkaido, where the leaders of the world’s richest nations had been discussing new targets for cutting carbon emissions.
One official who witnessed the extraordinary scene told the Telegraph: “Everyone was very surprised that he was making a joke about America’s record on pollution.”
This wasn’t the only gaffe the White House made this week during the G-8.
On Tuesday…an embarrassed White House issued a formal apology to Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi for having distributed a biography to reporters that noted his “convictions on a number of corruption charges” (all overturned) and used the word “suave” to describe him.
President Obama will have lots of work to do.

Obama won’t have to do anything except take the oath of office and then look into a television camera, and people the world over will rise in a standing ovation and sing praises to their various gods that the world has survived the Bush presidency–if in fact the Earth does survive it.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:00 am
Perhapse Bush ment ” Noise pollution ” every time he steps up to the mic.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Now I get it. Bush lied. America is no longer the biggest polluter, china is.
Bush lied, china pollutes.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:25 am
Uncouth moron. Only 6 months or so of this fool. What an embarassment. It’s like he has no idea that his actions have consequences. Everything is just a joke to him now. He can go to Crawford and ignore the fact that he has failed in every aspect of his Presidency. One thing we can take from Dubya is that we really know what not to do if you’re President. Absoulte National Embarassament…
July 11th, 2008 at 11:43 am
And I thought Ronald “Bonzo Goes to College” Reagan was an embarrasment. Dubya takes the cake.
July 11th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Impeachment hearing can’t begin soon enough. But I fear a Cheney president as much as a Bush presidency. Impeach them both at the same time.
July 11th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
No, Barack Hussein Obama takes the Cake. That stupid piece of horsesqueeze thinks there are 57 states. Bush isnt the best speaker but I can assure you of one thing, one reason there has not been another attack on this country since 9/11 is the sorry bastards know Bush and the American Military will come and kick their ass! They are just praying for that liberal piece of flycrap named Obama to get in. He will try to talk to them and understand their problems. What a JOKE he will be! I apologize to flycrap in my comparison to Obama.
July 11th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
James:
Are you aware of the fact that we were attacked under Bush’s watch?
Did you know that Bush KNEW we were to be attacked but did nothing to prevent it?
http://www.buzzflash.com/perspectives/911bush.html
A monkey would make a better commander in chief than Dubya. And if you think otherwise, you are living in bizarro world.
July 11th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Let’s try to use as much hyperbole as possible when describing Bush. THE EARTH IS DYING AND IT’S ONE MAN’S FAULT! AND ONLY ONE MAN CAN SAVE IT! Apparently, the 2000 election was the nexus of the universe because both the earth killer and earth savior were running for President.
So we should be morons and impact our economy by trying to adhere to worldwide environmental standards WHILE China is still belching craptons of pollution (with more to come) into the atmosphere? Isn’t that a little illogical?
I still wouldn’t want us to sign onto Kyoto, but IF everyone else was on board and we were not, then perhaps it would make more sense. And by not signing onto Kyoto, that obviously means that I am for things like 1) smog, 2) dirty water, 3) killing polar bears, and 4) using as much energy as Al Gore’s house used last year.
President Obama? Did he become in charge of his local community-organizer group? Congrats to him!
July 11th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
TDro, please, easy on the conspiracy theories.
July 11th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
The danger of a man with nothing left to lose is the fact that they no longer have to care. Is President Bush so stupid and so emotional, that he wouldn’t care what comes next for America and the world? Don’t judge me, look at his words and deeds. America is facing a new Constitutional crisis. We need to test the power of the 9-11 Commission and their suggestions in keeping America safe. Taking President Bush out of the analysis loop was a good thing. Can he still act unilaterally? Do we have a King?
July 11th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Dont worry Flap, The Messiah “Obama” will save the world and the USSA, the United Socialist States of America! Just hang on, blue skies, world peace and no cares are just around the bend, all we need is CHANGE!!!!
July 11th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
“one reason there has not been another attack on this country since 9/11 is the sorry bastards know Bush and the American Military will come and kick their ass…”
That’s an appealing idea, but not so sure it’s based in reality.
I caught an interview with some informed person, forget who, but the gist of the talk was that an element in Iran would not be deterred by the US military, or even the certainty of annihilation via a US nuclear strike, because of some Islamic/jihadist notion about cleansing the world of infidels or something. In other words, national suicide would be an option for these people, if it aided in attaining their goals.
But I’d have to say that what appears to pose the greatest danger in any of this is that our leaders give few signs of actually understanding anything about our enemies.
July 11th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
I understand they want to kill us, and that is enough for me. There isnt much to talk about.
July 11th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Hell yeah James, kill everyone that isn’t American! Idiot…
July 11th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Do you know what a schmuck is? George Bush is a schmuck. That’s what it is. King of the schmucks.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Our enemies definitely had a respect for Bush, back before the Iraq invasion I remember reading a news report where one of Saddam’s son told someone “The Americans are serious this time. This Bush is nothing like Clinton.”
And Al Qaeda definately expects the US to hvae much less will to continue the fight.
You anti-war people are the ones who gives them their hope.
How does it feel to know you are the tools they are hoping on to defeat the US

AL QAEDA’S PLAN B
FAILURES PROMPT NEW IDEAS FOR TERROR FROM THE SHADOWS
[...]
IN a notable departure from past al Qaeda strategy, Naji recommends “countless small operations” that render daily life unbearable, rather than a few spectacular attacks such as 9/11: The “infidel,” leaving his home every morning, should be unsure whether he’ll return in the evening.
Naji recommends kidnappings, the holding of hostages, the use of women and children as human shields, exhibition killings to terrorize the enemy, suicide bombings and countless gestures that make normal life impossible for the “infidel” and Muslim collaborators.
Once parallel societies are established throughout the world, they would exert pressure on non-Muslims to submit. Naji believes that, subjected to constant intimidation and fear of death, most non-Muslims (especially in the West) would submit: “The West has no stomach for a long fight.”
The only Western power still capable of resisting is the United States, he believes. But that, too, will change once President Bush is gone.
NAJI makes it clear that the United States is the chief, if not the exclusive target, of jihad at this time. He mentions Israel only once, as “America’s little female idol.” His only reference to Palestine is in a historical context.
Naji asks jihadis to target oilfields, sea and airports, tourist facilities and especially banking and financial services. He envisages “a very long war,” at the end of which the whole world is brought under the banner of Islam.
[...]
Naji’s theory is built on the concept of terror as the main organizing principle of the mini-states he hopes to set up everywhere in preparation for the coming Caliphate. He claims that the Prophet himself practiced the tactic by making his enemies in Medina, where he ran his version of the “wilderness,” pay “the maximum price” for any deviance, and through constant raids on trade caravans belonging to his enemies in Mecca.
IN a simple language, Naji of fers a synthesis of the themes that appeal to different jihadi groups. With anti-imperialist sentiments, missionary dreams, ethnic and class grievances and puritanical obsessions, he mixes a deadly cocktail.
Naji’s message is stark: Western civilization is doomed. Its last bastion, America, lacks the will for a long war. The “infidel” loves life and treats it as an endless feast. Jihadis have to ruin that feast and persuade the “infidel” to abandon this world in exchange for greater rewards in the next.

So.. that’s the result of spending 8 doing everything you can to weaken the United States
July 11th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
“…they want to kill us…”
Yeah but who is “they”? I don’t know. I haven’t taken a couple of years to study Iran, the people, the culture, the religion, their current government, who’s got the power, who makes the decisions, or anything else. And the real problem is our president seems to have as much of a command of the subject as the typical television pundit.
What’s his comment about the G-8? “Some people talk too long.” Well it’s a complicated world, Georgie, and there are some subjects that might require a few hours, days, or years of discussion before we even know what the heck we’re talking about.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Fury, if you’d unplug your ears and stop calling people names you’d see that James said that the fact that people that want to KILL HIM is enough for him to take action. I’m peace-loving. If people want to kill me? Different story.
The idea of a large minority of a particular religion wanting me dead based on my nationality or religion doesn’t sit right with me either. It’s easy to intellectualize, talk about all the details, say that it’s bigoted to be against Muslim extremists, but we must always err on the side of protecting ourselves.
Read up on the Middle Ages. Read up on how Muslims tried to take over the world, and came close to doing so. I’m not a historian by far, but it’s pretty easy to see that we came close to ALL being Muslims.
Try having liberal ideas as a Muslim.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
“They” is Muslim extremists, RC. Regime-backed or not. Coming to the New World insulated us from the threat…for a while.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
““They” is Muslim extremists…”
And I’m not really arguing that so much as saying we need to know more than the baloney published by the NY Post before we start advocating “kill kill kill” as our foreign policy.
This is why people buy the Post: http://www.nypost.com/sports/betting/hrpick.htm
July 11th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
RC: My God .. it’s been 8 years since they launched the biggest attack on US soil ever.
And you’ve done squat to educate yourself.
I have spent years studying Islam. The article is right.
It’s funny how some/many Leftists actively avoid learning about Islam and reject all information about it.. and they do so by acting as if they know just enough to know they dont like the source.
So many people do this.. I wish i was a shrink so I can understand the mental illness at work.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Right wingers on this site prove that the guy who wrote the book: Confessions Of A Former Dittohead,
was absolutely right when he said that they believe that ThEY only THEY know truth, and quote only souces that reflect their world view.
All other sources are clearly wrong because they contradict the right wing sources.
One thing many right wingers have in common…. they ALL say they are experts, and nobody knows as much as them when in reality many who disagree with them actually know more.
July 11th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
So, OldLefty, you are claiming to know the TRUTH about who does and doesn’t know the truth? Sounds like you’re just as bad as these supposed right-wingers who supposedly claim to know everything.
And you will honestly tell me that bias is only one-sided? Honestly?
July 11th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
“…there has not been another attack on this country since 9/11…”
I assume the writer meant “in this country,” since there have been many attacks on American interests and their allies since 9/11. And since there wasn’t another attack in this country after the first World Trade Center bombing on Feb. 26, 1993 (for which, unlike the 2001 attacks, the mastermind was actually caught) until after Bush took office–a period of more than eight years–Clinton must have done a great job of protecting us, too.
In two more years, Bush will have “protected” us for just as long, but so far he’s only about three-quarters of the way there.
July 11th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Call me names you liberal jackass. I know I am right when all you can do is call names.
But to anawer, the Islamofacists. Liberal
July 11th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
With this insane and intentionally cruel comment, Bush ‘accidentally’ reveals himself yet again — for the world to see — to be the silly little boy who never moved beyond the level of maturity he “attained” approximately 58 years ago.
His only supporters on the planet live in the USA and argue with our host Alan. Everytime I hear someone on Alan’s show defend this imbecile, my heart sinks. It proves we as a country have learned NOTHING since the Supremes selected this hapless “leader”.
Vince P:
The only PSYCHOANALYSIS NEEDED at this point is of the Americans who voted in 2004 for this attention-seeking little brat who still stomps his feet and figuratively cries for Mommy (his Republican base) when he doesn’t get his way.
July 11th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
NOTE:
Apologies to anyone who may read my prior post and is offended by the word “imbecile”. I don’t intend to insult anyone who is mentally retarded by directly linking him or her to George W. Bush.
July 11th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Get a sense of humor.. Especially since the joke is on you.. there is no global warming.
Oh well I guess that’s why studies show Leftists are miserable people and conservatives tend to be happier.. not that Bush is much of a conservative.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
James: they’re completely unwilling to look at world events objectively. They’re so biased and closed-minded nothing will deviate them from their stupor.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
flap,
It is NOT I claims to know the TRUTH about who does and doesn’t know the truth.
I wouldn’t even mind Vince saying things like,
“And you’ve done squat to educate yourself.
I have spent years studying Islam. The article is right.”
But comments like:
“It’s funny how some/many Leftists actively avoid learning about Islam and reject all information about it.. and they do so by acting as if they know just enough to know they dont like the source.
So many people do this.. I wish i was a shrink so I can understand the mental illness at work.”
Impling that anyone who doesn’t agree with him suffers from mental illness?
You never know if you are talking to someone who was born and raised in the Middle East, or Pakistan or India, OR who works in a hospital or university and has know these people for years OR is married to someone who a Moslem from wherever.
I am pointing out the the guy who wags his proverbial finger at the poster admonishing their “ignorance”, never knows when they are talking to someone who REALLY does know more about the subject.. someone who is reading and just shaking their head and laughing, or saying, “what a buffoon”.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
It’s funny how liberals blah blah blah. It’s funny how conservatives get on this blog, spew their bile, and complain when people don’t like what they say. If you don’t want people to respond to you, go on a conservative blog…
July 11th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Marie of Wilton Manors,
I must disagree with you that Bush’s only supporters on the planet live in the USA.
He has his Wahabi buddies in Saudi Arabia to hold hands with!
July 11th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
“there is no global warming” Sure Vinnie, it’s all a conspiracy. Scientists all over the world agree, but it’s because they all got together and agreed to lie. Thank you for pointing that out. You’re intelligence is astounding…

I know you won’t respond probably because you’re incapable of it

“Every” in sentence two should be “even”
July 11th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Flap:
You call me a conspiracy theorist? Prove one thing I said that was incorrect. I’ll be waiting.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
The burden of proof is on YOU, TDro. A website full of disconnected quotes proves absolutely nothing. And I didn’t call you a conspiracy theorist, I said to go easy on the conspiracy theories.
By the way, “Bush knowing” versus “Bush should have known” are completely different things. Clinton should have known. Bush should have known. I agree with you there. In other words, our intelligence should have caught that. But if you are implying “Bush knew and ignored it” I think there’s no credible evidence pointing to that.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Flap: it’s been like 5 years now.. if some idiot Leftist refuses to accept the true by now.. he aint ever going to.
Do you expect someone with the belligerent immaturity of TDro to ever acknowledge what you’re saying?
They think because when they all get together and get all wet telling each other “Yeah.. Bush lied! Right?” “Yeah.. He did ! Bush lied”… “Oh yeah!! Bush lied!!!!” “Oh.. Rub on me and call Bush a liar.”
“BUUUUUUSHCOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
July 11th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Flap:
“On April 8, 2004, then-National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice testified before the 9/11 commission that there was ‘nothing that suggested there was going to be a threat to the United States’ in the Presidential Daily Briefing Document on August 6, 2001. However Rice proceeded to admit that the title of the document was ‘Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States.
That was taken from the New York Times “Text of Testimony of Condoleeza Rice Before the 9/11 Commission”, April 8, 2004.
If you and Vince P, along with other misinformed people prefer to stick your heads in the sand and prefer to ignore all the facts staring you in the face, maybe you should check out the right wing sites and stick with your own kind.
Just read the above statement by Vince P. That is basicslly how they converse on the right wing blogs. If you consider that intelligent conversation, this site isn’t for you.
July 12th, 2008 at 12:04 am
Tdro: Whatever Rice does has nothing to do with me.
um… DUH.
July 12th, 2008 at 2:19 am
Generally I’ve found that serious people, who actually know what they’re talking about, have no need to impress everyone with the depth of their knowledge, and do not resort to cheesy personal attacks because, simply, it’s beneath them.
Which is why I suspect we may have a summer intern from the RNC working the blog.
July 12th, 2008 at 3:17 am
i’m more disappointed with the fact that Brown and Sarkozy are “shocked” that Bush is a fucking idiot. that’s like them being shocked at someone for saying the sky is blue. bush is a moron, we all know he’s a moron, and he’s displayed his moron-ity from the very beginning.
it’s hard for me to be upset with bush anymore. he’s mentally retarded. it’s not nice to be upset with someone who can’t help their stupidity.

“The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even a mob with him by the force of his personality.
But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second or third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.
vacuum.
The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the
plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the
White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

Let obama work his magic with the muslims. Since I’ll be out of here, let the muslims control america. Death to america. I’m sure all the liberals are getting a thrill up their leg dreaming of the demise of ameriKKKa.

Brandon: They have no idea the fire they are playing with.
Both the Eastern Roman Empire and the Persians laughed at the threats the ragtag Muslims in Arabia made. The Arabs had never invaded their neighbors before and had no technology or wealth.
The Romans and the Persians didn’t see the need to defend themselves and didn’t see the need to crush the people who made threats towards them.
The Muslims destroyed both Empires.
When the Islamic Caliphate was disbanded in the 1920s, Muslims around the world reeled in shock.
The Caliphate is the only legitimate system of Government under Islam. The abolishment of Allah’s law was one the biggest humiliations to Muslims ever.
So their thinkers got to thinking “why has Allah abndonded us. Why are things going so wrong for us. Why is the West so powerful, when we are the ones who obey Allah and are obedient, and they are the forces of Satan”
What they determined was that the Muslim world has deviated to far from the Islam of Mohammed and the early Caliphs.
They see their task now as returning the Muslim people back to the form of Islam that existed at the beginning. the kind that permitted them to conquer everywhere from Spain to India within 100 years of its founding.
This work took many generations of effort.. by many different factions.. and there are many , even contradictarty expressions of this work.
Their work continues and will not ever stop until they accomplish what Allah demands they accomplish.
The imposition of Holy Sharia law on all the earth, and the destruction of Man-made law and govt.
Manmade law and govt is idolitry in Islam.
You lefties who think you’re doign the right thing by attacking the US all the time are aiding them. They want us as divided and weak as possible. That is the only way they could defeat us.
July 12th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Oh , Fury.. that is your cue to respond to me with a fart or something smart (for you) like that as you always do.
July 12th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Cheryl, drill here drill now is almost self-evident…why aren’t we drilling everywhere as WELL as developing alternative fuels? Alan often talks about 68 million acres that the oil companies have. FINE. Let them drill there AND offshore. ANWR.
I agree with Pickens’ windmill plan…I agree with hybrids, alternative cars, whatever. But to refuse to drill is patently illogical when we’re in an energy crunch for the foreseeable future.
And how is Bush a moron? I have never understood how a lack of public speaking ability & political disagreement automatically makes him a moron or retarded…it blows my mind. How did he beat Kerry in ‘04 if he’s such an idiot? Oh, yeah, I forgot, TDro, tell me how Diebold handed the election to Bush in 2004.
TDro, of course there was evidence that Bin Laden was going to attack. I think we’ve had evidence of that clear back into the Clinton administration. Are you prepared to give Clinton the same scrutiny? September 11th was mere MONTHS after Bush was inaugurated, remember. I will agree that we should have known or the threat was not taken as seriously as it should have been. But, again, if you are implying that Bush *wanted* us to get attacked or *ignored* threats so we could bomb Iraq, that’s nonsense of the highest degree with no evidence.
RC, who is being personally attacked? Is “leftie” a personal attack?
July 12th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Yes, let’s give the oil companies more land (even though they refuse to drill on the land they already own). Let them buy up everything. To hell with the environment and the whiney conservationists. And if the polar bear and whale are destroyed, so what? I need my SUV.
The bottom line is Bush was the commander-in-chief at the time we were attacked. The American people are paying him to protect the country (granted, not as much as the Saudis are paying him).
He invaded Iraq for their oil. We sacrificed over 4000 American and countless Iraqi men, women and children so Bush could have his precious oil.
Clinton left office with a surplus, Dubya used that up pronto.
It amazes me that you people were eager to hang Clinton because he had consentual sex while in office, but are willing to give Bush a pass for his war crimes and crimes against humanity.
July 12th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
I’d say calling someone a “leftie” or a “con” is kind of a backhanded slap that alot of us sometimes use without being patently offensive. My comment above was directed primarily at cases where people are called “morons” and “assholes” because they’re such “fucking dicks.”
People who have a need to resort to language like this, on a blog of all places, really should try looking in a mirror and asking themselves what it is exactly that they’re trying to accomplish.
[And any operatives for the RNC should take care to cover their tracks.]
July 12th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
the fact that bush is a moron is evident through his inadequate, haphazard political policies for America. his nonexistent public speaking skills are just ICING ON THE CAKE.

Everyone who isn’t brainwashed by the Messiah knows it’s true. Take his teleprompter away and he loses the ability to speak.
And asking me to “prove it” is an interesting tactic since you have shown so many times to be impervious to facts.

OBAMA: What they’ll say is, “Well it costs too much money,” but you know what? It would cost, about… It — it — it would cost about the same as what we would spend… It… Over the course of 10 years it would cost what it would costs us… (nervous laugh) All right. Okay. We’re going to… It… It would cost us about the same as it would cost for about — hold on one second. I can’t hear myself. But I’m glad you’re fired up, though. I’m glad.

Earlier this month in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Obama showed off his knowledge of the war in Afghanistan by homing in on a lack of translators: “We only have a certain number of them, and if they are all in Iraq, then it’s harder for us to use them in Afghanistan.” The real reason it’s “harder for us to use them” in Afghanistan: Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish. The Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi, or other non-Arabic languages.

Oh I love this one… Obama makes an joint appearance with Hillary Clinton.. he’s supposed to introduce her. But ooops.. he leaves and forgets to do so
===============
“Signed, Sealed, Delivered” blasted out of the sound system and Obama bounced off the stage to work the rope line and shake hands, not looking nearly as weary as The Times story says he is.
But about two minutes later Obama bounces back onto the stage. Waves his hands. Had he forgotten to mention about the jobs program?
The music stopped…
“Hold on a second,” he shouted. “I got one more thing.” Oops! It seems Obama had forgotten to mention the part about giving money to Hillary Clinton in the spirit of unity, the whole reason they were gathered there in the first place.
“Sen. Clinton still has some debt. And I could have had some debt — if I hadn’t won — so I know the drill. There are many supporters of mine here who have not yet given something to help her retire that debt. I would be very grateful if you looked under your chair. I think there should be an envelope or a pledge sheet or something.
“If people would take the time not only to pick it up but put something in it and mail it back…that is part of the process of making sure that we’re unified…All right, turn on the music again. Let’s keep on partying.” …

And asking me to “prove it” is an interesting tactic since you have shown so many times to be impervious to facts.
Prove it.

“Bush is Shakespeare compared to Obama.”
Bush is Salvidor Dali to Obama’s Norman Rockwell.
Cheney is Dr. Strangelove.
