Proof That McCain Agrees With Gramm

July 13th, 2008, 11:08 AM EDT

Can’t pay the rent? About to lose your home becaue the mortgage is beyond reach?   Your 401K is now a 201K?  It’s not the economy, stupid.  It’s psychological.

Here are the accolades McCain heaped on Gramm before the “whiners” comment:

McCain: “A person I’ve had the honor and pleasure of knowing as a friend and a great economist… my dear friend and comrade, Senator Phil Gramm.” [McCain Town Hall, CNN Live Feed, (Waco, TX ), 3/3/08]

McCain: “There is no one in America that is more respected on the issue of economics than Senator Phil Gramm. So I’m honored that you are here, Phil. Thank you for your great service.” [Speech at Dell Headquarters, Round Rock, TX, 2/29/08]

McCain: “A lot of the people that I respect that are advising me, like Phil Gramm and Jack Kemp…” [ABC This Week, 2/17/08]

And then:

MCCAIN: “Phil Gramm does not speak for me. I speak for me.” [Media Availability, Belleville, MI, 07/10/08]

  1. Yeah shut up your whinning and complaining.

If you’ve lost your home or cannot afford to drive to work, we have park benches were you and your family can sleep, water fountains were you and your family can take bath, porta-jons here and there and dumpsters behind fine restaurants were you can dig out a free meal. Many of African people would love to have it this good.

It’s all just psychological, in Americans minds.

So vote for Mccain, and shut the hell up your whinning and complaining.

  2. Right on, Frank! That’s such a great lifestyle, I don’t know why these damned middle and working class Americans are whining about it. Losers.

  3. if McCain can say that Gramm is a “good friend and comrade” and a person that he “respects”, while at the same time saying that he doesn’t speak for him-

then why doesn’t that rule also apply for Obama and Wright? Hmmmm????? Answer THAT Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh!

  4. DUH it’s not a problem for McCain! Straight talk – He doesn’t need help paying his bills and gas for his vehicle! Dumb DINOSAUR! Get a time machine and come to the future already so you can see what REAL working middle class Americans have to go through everyday to make sure they have food on the table and a roof over their heads!

  5. The first thing that came to my mind after hearing Senator Gramm’s comments was that that is exactly what I hear from the main stream media day after day: whining and complaining about how bad our economy and our country is. You will never hear a mention that 95%+ of all Americans are paying their mortgages on time. Never a mention that 95% of Americans are employed. Never a mention that we have not had a terrorist in America since 9/11. Never a word that the war in Iraq is being won. Never a patriotic word. Just whining and complaining. It is not a surprise that these atitudes are spreading.

  6. “There is no one in America that is more respected on the issue of economics than Senator Phil Gramm.”

I have a lot of respect for Alan Greenspan. He seems quite smart. He says smart things. He gives the impression that he actually thinks about things before he opens his mouth.

Senator Phil seems like an intellect dominated by attitude and cynicism, and his remarks seem typical of barroom blather.

Reminds me of the “nay-sayer” stuff from Bush the First, heh.

  7. Are any of the bastards running going to do anything for the TAXPAYERS that are in financial trouble?
    Like rewrite the bankruptcy laws?
The republicans STUCK it to the people about 3years ago [rewriting the bankrupcy laws].
DO THEY HAVE THE BALLS TO SPEAK UP DURING THIS CAMPAIGN???????!!!!!!!!!

  8. I don’t think respecting someone’s views are the same thing as total agreement with everything the person says. McCain gets to decide what he agrees and disagrees with. Just like Obama. I had no problem with Obama spending time in his church and being able to discern what messages rang true for him. I will extend that courtesy to McCain.

  9. All I have to say is laugh now,pay later. Im waiting for the presidetial on stage debate(s) Thats going to be where the men are separated from the boys.

  10. Don Stone apparently is doing fine with 95% of his buds! It’s thosw whining folks losing their homes and jobs, stocks plummeting, pensions dissolving, Medicare and social security at high risk of vast under funding, crumbling infrastructure from lack of repair, NO still in shambles; a war we’re supposedly “winning” (give me a break) paid for not by all those rich satisfied non whining 95% but by the children of the future who will be robbed by the current “just doing fine” folks. And by the way great patriot…think about the terrible hit to our military personnel and equipment yet to be touched so that we might take on real enemies which actually threaten us; and the unfunded costs for the myriads of good solid veterans who are promised benefits many will never see and health care they need but won’t get. 95% doing great…my _ss! Wake up and smell the roses!
