Vincent Bugliosi Makes The Case For Prosecuting BushCo
I haven’t been a big fan of impeachment procedings, as I feel it would take up time Congress could be spent doing more pressing work, and even if it were successful, Bush would be out of office by the time it got anywhere. However, impeachment or not, a case can be made that we have not been dealt with truthfully by this administration and the result has been policies jammed down the throat of the American public that we are now seeing as reckless. These policies have resulted in an unnecessary war, a rediretion of efforts away from true trouble spots, and the losses of life and health that have severely impacted thousands of American families. Concurrently, we have seen executive branch power grabs enabled by Bush/Cheney appointees who have given them permission to skirt legal precedents and ignore conventions and treaties to which we are signatories.
Vincent Bugliosi lays it all out in his book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush For Murder which has received scant attention in the MSM, and here he lays it out for the House Judiciary Committee.

To preserve our laws, and our decency, we must prosecute this administration for trashing the Constitution.

If nothing is done the message to future presidents will be clear: that nothing stands between the white house and absolute totalitarian power.
July 26th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
When there’s a case, as there appears to be here, seek indictment. Congress is obligated to, no matter the risk, even, no offense, Alan, to the Democrats.
July 26th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Well, I suppose if a giant ogre was going to kill us all, maybe Impeachment should wait.
July 26th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
You two are SO RIGHT. Especially RC’s comment. I support Bush’s impeachment bc I’m thinking of the future- I don’t want any other President to so callously and arrogantly use his position to forward some personal goal that costs the lives of innocent soldiers. Bush’s actions are ILLEGAL, and should be treated as such.
This cannot be allowed to happen again.
July 26th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
WFG was typing his comment while I was typing mine. The “two” I was referring to were Sky and RC. But WFG is singing the same tune.
July 26th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
I should say that I am not demanding a conviction. I do believe in letting the results come fairly, not through public pressure. Impeachments should not be kangaroo, politicaly partial courts.
July 26th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
If he is convicted, what mitigations, if any, could there be to his sentence?
July 26th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Mitigations?? he should go to prison.
July 26th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Agreed. I’m concerned that there might be some special executive branch exceptions. Unfortunately, he’ll go to a prison as good, or better, than the one Saddam could have been in exile to.
July 26th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Who was it that offered that to Saddam? I know some nation did. I think it was one of the South African countries.
July 26th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
maybe he has to be tried after he’s done being in office? I think the President can’t go to prison, or something…
July 26th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
That’s sometimes too much of a privilege, but it really depends on the complications of the time.
July 26th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
…but can he be tried for actions in office after he’s left office?
July 26th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
I don’t know. I hope so.
July 26th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389×3434805
Perhaps this answers the question.
July 26th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Okay, he HAS to be impeached.
July 26th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
If he is out of office when he his prosecuted/convicted(that’s an assumption) then he can’t pardon himself and any others that might be implicated. Vindictiveness is not what is needed, but some form of accountability to the law should be the reason for any ‘trials’.
He’ll be gone in a few months and he is basically not a lame duck as much as a dead duck now, so why take congress and the country away from our many needs and concerns to beat a dead horse?
July 26th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
To preserve our laws and integrity. We have to show the world that we are as honorable as we expect them to be.
July 26th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Because this might be our last chance, Budda, and being pitiful is not an excuse.
July 26th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
The problem is the distractions we have are near perpetual: bad economies, states of war, corruption, all things, and more things, which can exist at any given time. Should a leader be made to think he can skirt, let alone violate, his oaths because prosecuting him has potentially terrible consequences by default? When will there not be rammifications to an election?
July 26th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
I hope Congress impeaches Bush tomorrow. Congress cannot do it soon enough.
July 26th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
“…then he can’t pardon himself…”
There was supposed to have been an amendment buried in some bill that would pardon the entire executive branch for something, possibly the use of torture in interrogations, but I don’t recall the details.
July 26th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Bush is acting on the behalf of his Zionist masters and AIPAC will see to it that the Senate, who must hold his trial, will never get enough support for anything to proceed. Clinton’s impeachment disappeared the moment he began killing Muslims with cruise missiles, but that isn’t the story the Jew media tells you.
July 26th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
I remember everyone turning against Nixon because of Watergate. What this administration has done is far worse. Nothing would please me more that to see Bush and Cheney led out of the white house in handcuffs
July 26th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
We are well aware you hate them. To bad for you that’s an actionable offense. You people calling for trials and impeachment are fucking morons. The thinking processes that lead to such positions must be so twisted and deficient.. no wonder the lot of you are angry.. especially Cheryl.
The Left’s hate is about the only thing consistant about them.
July 26th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
To bad for you that’s an actionable offense
s/b
To bad for you that’s not an actionable offense
I cant type today
July 26th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
The argument presented here, as we are predicating it off of the premise Bugliosi presented, is that the deaths of US Soldiers and Iraqis is the consequence of ommissions which can be argued to have prevented this war, had they been included where they should have been, therefor impeachment justified.
Any other high horses you’d like killed, Vince?
July 26th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Zionist masters?? Nobody told me about this, did I miss the memo?
..The Lefts hate/ consistant.. how about Vince Ps hate being consistant? Vince I know you are trying to get your opinion/point across, but please, tone it down a notch or two, you’ll come off as a little more likeable and therefore people will listen and not shut off to your rants. I rant too, so keep it up but tone it down please.
Love and kiss’ to all..it’s a Sat. nite, enjoy it.

Fury, V comes before W, so kneel before Vinnie!
July 26th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
George Bush should have been impeached years ago. The thought of this man having no consequences for his actions is revolting.
July 26th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Budda: That’s just it.. I dont hate anyone.
Their whole slander that I “hate” is because I’m critical of Islam.
So because they lack the skills to engage in a real debate on the issue, they resort to the tactic of delegitimization. And I see them having done the same thing with Bush since 2000.
They have been desperate to find a Impeachable offense since the very beginning.
Now Dennis Kuccinich and this author cause a little movement in that area, and they’re all excited.

sounded like the forum was more concerned about the time rather then the content of bugliosi facts and documents?
July 26th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Hi guys, I haven’t read all the posts cause I want to let you know about this movie. I would like to see impeachment proceedings, but I doubt we’ll see anything out of it..plus when can he be forced to give up his “executive privilege?” Does that go away once he’s out of office? Anyway, this is a pbs frontline show from last year? maybe 2006? Very interesting info in it, and it’s scary if these powers are upheld and we get a dictator type president worse than what we have already, we’re screwed even more.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/cheney/view/
July 26th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
And when I watched this show, I had to wonder if we were lucky Bush has been the front man in these 2 terms.
July 26th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Vincent Bugliosi recently did an interesting interview with RFK Jr on Ring of Fire. You can see it at http://www.goleft.tv
July 26th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
I don’t know, I just read through the NIE that he references. I think this man just found a new venue to advertise his book. When was he interviewed? I found something on CSPAN from 2005.
What I want to know is why the Bush admin got interested in Iraq in the first place, and I think the most information on this is that frontline report.
July 27th, 2008 at 12:38 am

Well, I know satire when I see it.
July 27th, 2008 at 1:28 am
LV: Alan had Bugliosi on the radio show fairly recently (possibly in May), I think around the time this latest book was released. I believe he was also interviewed on CSpan’s BookTV at around the same time.
He also wrote an interesting little book entitled, “The Betrayal of America: How the Supreme Court Undermined the Constitution and Chose our President”.
July 27th, 2008 at 1:41 am
RC. I listened to that interview by RFK and the guy can be convincing. I don’t think it’s going to get anywhere..maybe an international court but not in this country. Plus the UN sided with the US and it’s so easy for all the lawyers to twist the meaning of the words…did you go to the pbs frontline report I referenced? If you don’t want to watch the movie you can read some of the interviews. Their minds don’t work the same as ours.
July 27th, 2008 at 1:50 am
Vinnie Pee is a jizzbag that enjoys a good donkey punch every now and then…
July 27th, 2008 at 3:29 am
To our dear host Alan:
Please explain your statement against impeachment: “…I feel it would take up time Congress could be spent doing more pressing work…”
Isn’t their most “pressing work” their Oath of Office: to preserve, protect and defend the United States Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic?
WHAT COULD BE MORE PRESSING?
ALAN, PLEASE TELL US. Please!
Is drilling for oil more pressing? Is corporate welfare for Fanny Mae/Freddie Mac more pressing? Is a special resolution honoring Tim Russert more pressing?
WHAT COULD BE MORE PRESSING than the preservation of the Constitution?
ALAN, PLEASE TELL US. Please!
July 27th, 2008 at 6:50 am
As many others above have mentioned, why are conservatives happy with this unchecked power?
What if the next president is a Democrat?
What if it’s an actual LIBERAL Democrat?
What if there is a REAL left leaning liberal Democrat in the whitehouse?
What if the next attack is a Timothy McVeigh, radical Christian type attack, and the LEEEBRUL president is seen to be spying on Christians?
Are you happy then, that you gave the president THAT much power?
July 27th, 2008 at 10:06 am
oooh Lefty, I’m smiling but I bet some others are squirming at your post.
July 27th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Let’s nut get ahead of ourselves people. Dubya has no intention of letting go of his power…

Crazy just crazy…
July 27th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
oops i meant not get ahead lol
July 27th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
“Are you happy then, that you gave the president THAT much power?”
The conservatives will find some way to pin everything that goes wrong on the democrats. They STILL blame 9/11 on Bill Clinton. Iraq had nothing to do with the WTC bomging, but people out there still believe it. They blame high gas prices on Barack Obama.
This is insane! The conservatives must be living in a parallel universe or bizarro world.
July 27th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Well apparently the Rightists like what Bush has done, so they don’t mind if the administration subverts principle and law and everything America is supposed to stand for.
Ends justify the means.
It’s real easy to say our country is based on all these Christian values, but it doesn’t really mean anything till the day comes when you may pay a price for practicing what you preach.
July 27th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
It was big news when the left said that Saddam never bought any yellow cake Uranium. It was big news that “There were no weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq.” Then 35 tons of yellow cake was found in Iraq. That was totally ignored by the media – not news at all – no big deal. I just wonder what would have happened to the world if Saddam had been permitted to make bombs out of all that Uranium. But who cares, it was an “unnecessary war.” Right
July 28th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
“If you check into this, you’ll quickly find that the uranium a) was not weapons grade and b) was well known to the UN and IAEA and was being stored legally by Saddam’s government. It was legally in Iraq according to international law.”
July 28th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
And we all know that Saddam’s government was one of the most honest and trustworthy in the world!
