Responses to this post...

  1. The ads dopey, and not particularly well executed or original, but I don’t think the McCain campaign is trying to call Obama the anti-Christ.

  2. Is anyone else having trouble loading the site?

  3. McCain must be Methuselah…

  4. Not sure why Alan would use “Antichrist”.. it totally distorts the discussion.

I think the ad is great.. it clearly shows Obama in his own words relying on a cult of personality that is the hallmark of David Axlerod.

  5. So we switch from a president who’s infallible like the pope to one who’s anointed by God.

    What’s the problem?

In fact Jesus visited me last night and told me that Barack has been sent to us to rescue America from the dark forces of racist traitors and the false prophets of the evangelicals and the brown shirt thugs of the right-wing neocons.

  6. I’ve been hearing that this ad is full of code words meant to get to those who read the Left Behind series.
    and believe in the endtimes.

It’s REALLY sad when McCain isn’t even religious.

  7. All this makes little baby Jesus cry…

  8. I think Alan is the one mentioning the anti-christ. This ad makes Obama look like Moses.

  9. I’ve heard that too, OldLefty. But this is nothing new:
JFK was supposedly the antichrist because he was Catholic
Ronald Reagan was supposedly the antichrist because his first, middle and last name add up to “666″.
This is just a ploy by the right to get the evangelical vote. I hope people are smart enough to see that.

  10. uh.. you are the people inventing the antichrist comparsion.

dont let your self-created stereotypes get in the way of reality.

  11. Hmmm.

I listened to el Rushbo this morning explain to America that Obama is just “dumb”.

But this “news” came from a man who once described Bush The Orator as “magnificent”.

We might as well accept that 28% of Americans are willing to believe that “Yes, Obama is the A-C!!” and move on. Some morons can’t be reasoned with.

How Obama prepped world for the Antichrist

America has never faced so many different crises at the same time in living memory. The war with al-Qaida and Islamic terror, the Iran crisis, Afghanistan, nuclear proliferation, the rising price of oil, the falling dollar, enemy acronyms like OPEC, NAM, OIC, U.N. … Obama is correct in saying that the world is ready for someone like him – a messiah-like figure, charismatic and glib and seemingly holding all the answers to all the world’s questions.
And the Bible says that such a leader will soon make his appearance on the scene. It won’t be Barack Obama, but Obama’s world tour provided a foretaste of the reception he can expect to receive.
He will probably also stand in some European capital, addressing the people of the world and telling them that he is the one that they have been waiting for. And he can expect as wildly enthusiastic a greeting as Obama got in Berlin.
The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist. And it seems apparent that the world is now ready to make his acquaintance.

    Dear world, please confront America

Is it possible to fall out of love with your own country? For two years, I, like many Americans, have been focused intently on documenting, exposing, and alerting the nation to the Bush administration’s criminality and its assault on the Constitution and the rule of law — a story often marginalized at home. I was certain that when Americans knew what was being done in their name, they would react with horror and outrage.
Three months ago, the Bush administration still clung to its devil’s sound bite, “We don’t torture.” Now, Doctors Without Borders has issued its report documenting American-held detainees’ traumas, and even lie detector tests confirm they have been tortured. The Red Cross report has leaked: torture and war crimes. Jane Mayer’s impeccably researched exposé “The Dark Side” just hit the stores: torture, crafted and directed from the top.

How George W. Bush’s close ties to Islamic lobbying groups — and to an accused supporter of Palestinian terrorism — may have brought him his razor-thin margin of victory in Florida.

” On March 12, 2000, Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, met with Muslim leaders at a local mosque in Tampa, Fla. Among them was Sami Al-Arian, a Kuwaiti-born Palestinian who was an associate professor of engineering at the University of South Florida.

But Al-Arian had unusual credentials for a Bush campaigner. Since 1995, as the founder and chairman of the board of World and Islam Enterprise (WISE), a Muslim think tank, Al-Arian had been under investigation by the FBI for his associations with Islamic Jihad, the Palestinian terrorist group. Al-Arian brought in Ramadan Abdullah Shallah, the No. 2 leader in Islamic Jihad, to be the director of WISE. A strong advocate of suicide bombings against Israel, Shallah was allegedly responsible for killing scores of Israelis in such attacks.”

  19. This ad does not profile Obama as the Anti Christ. It merely places emphasis on his acting like he is already the president. I for one am dropping my support of him because it is impossible to pinpoint what the guy really will do if elected. There is no substance to anything he says and he will say anything with no substance to get elected

It is easy to see why the election was trending to Hillary during the final primaries. We have the wrong nominee.

This man does not have the experience or the moral integrity to be president.

I’m 52, and I don’t recall ANYONE with the BOTH experience AND the moral integrity you are looking for.

Perhaps Carter had the moral integrity, but you guys hated him.

McCain had more experience than Obama, but it did not guide him to good decisions, and he doesn’t seem to have a grasp on things.

    I don’t see integrity either.

The deranged Naomi Wolf calls for attacks on the US.

I am justified to call her whatever i want.

But i guess i can see your point.. calling people names is your style.. i shouldnt do it.

  26. Danielle, my last comment was not directed to you.

  27. Alan is succumbing to conspiratorial scheming of the Olberbite variety. McCain’s ad if anything just makes Obama look like some sort of evangelical TV personality (look at it and think Pat Robertson, or for real amusement Hagee, you’ll see what I mean) and is just dismissing his action as the inevitable savior of America as purely silly. Its a harmless ad and the only people who get bent up over it are the same PC slave pussies who can’t stand hearing anything against their cult master.

In fact this election has been extremely innocuous, even Hillary Clinton’s scuff with “The One” wasn’t as horrible as previous elections. The Bush-Clinton 192 debacle was vicious, during the Republican primaries of 1996 Bill was sniped at frequently as an oblivious gadfly (check of the Lamar Alexander commercial on youtube) and skirting the law by claiming as C-in-C he was on active military duty and could not respond to numerous sexual harassment suits. And the madman Gore gave the nod to several hate groups using racial divisiveness against George Bush and the Byrd case, which Bush actually had demonstrated one of his strong moments of governor of Texas denouncing and eagerly allowed the death penalty for the beasts but didn’t cower to the New York/San Francisco fascist Nazi scheme of thought crimes.

Obama has gotten the soft gloves and anyone who wants to shelter him from the good natured jabs really should start thinking about how sensitive fellows like Putin and Ahmadinejad are because honestly, they won’t give a FUCK about respecting that bitch, they’ll give him saccharine flattery to his dumbass face and do a troop movement between his legs while he’s distracted in a haze of bong smoke. He damn sure is no savior, but quite possibly the one who will deliver us INTO evil.

Apparently it’s Vinnie’s style, since he does it soooooo often.

  29. I have to sink to your level.. which is pointless… responding to Lilliputians is a no-win situation.

  30. “He damn sure is no savior, but quite possibly the one who will deliver us INTO evil.”

    ………………………………………..

    Bush/Cheney already did that.

Nobody thinks Obama is a savior, but he will have a BIG mess to clean up.

Actually if I cared more about my party than my country, I’d probably want McCain to win, and let the Republicans clean up their OWN mess.

And what’s this about Putin and Ahmadinejad?

Didn’t Dear leader look into Putin’s eyes and see his soul?

And Ahmadinejad is only there because these weak, morally bankrupt, little men, Bush/Cheney are in the whitehouse.
Iran was leaning more our way until these bufoons invaded their neighbors and started threatening them, and the Iranians said, ‘We better get a belligerent,
    religious wacko of our own!’

And by the way, only in right wing world does Obama get treated better than McCain in the media.

The reality based community, can’t imagine the 24/7 coverage there would be if Obama had an affair and left his wife for a younger richer woman after she had an accident.
Or if Michelle had been addicted to drugs and stole them from her charity…..
The right wingers would be on the fainting couch!

  31. It must be torture to go through life and maintaining all your various tit-for-tat tally sheets.

maybe that’s why the Left seems incapable of having a strictly-factual conversation.

  32. all the tornado sirens in Chicago started to wail a little bit ago.. they just stopped.

  33. “I have to sink to your level.. which is pointless… responding to Lilliputians is a no-win situation.’

That’s impossible, since you’re beneath me

  34. The fact is, McCain has nothing on Obama and he’s just grasping at straws. This ad is one example.

  35. Old Lefty:

Ahmadinejad is only there because Jimmy Carter dropped the ball and wanted to try out the precursor towards Obama foreign policy. I hope you love the results.

Obama also is working on making the US withdrawal of Iraq resemble the spitting image of the helicopter embassy lift from Saigon.

As for Putin, everyone knows Bush has hauled ass to set up a missile shield in Poland and the Baltic states to box that mofo in. Of course Bambi the messiah wants to ban weapons of decent decimation, and once again I’m sure his charisma will be all it takes to talk Putin, Lil Kim, and Mahmoud the holocaust denier (david duke’s role model I see) out of trying out their own. Bush has made some serious screw ups in executing effective stability in the middle east, but Iraq is turning around after he finally listened to someone outside of Rumsfield’s Kissingeresque circle and so far we’ve blocked expansionism in the Far East.

You want to screw up the world, do like Obama wants and invade Pakistan for ANY reason. And if you really want to make things interesting get boots on the ground in Sudan or other unstable African oil producing countries, if you really want to see record high gas prices lets just do what all the pot smoking activists want because they heard about it in a Clooney documentary or on a Zach de la Rocha CD. Obama is weak and uncertain and everyone can tell that now, including foreign leaders with their own agenda.

Putin wants to start opening bases in Cuba and if you know anything about 1962 all I have to say is that Obama is no JFK. That “liberal” assassinated dozens of petty dictators and set up governments all over the Caribbean and Latin America that weren’t necessarily big fans of human rights, just so long as they were committed to stopping the spread of communism.

I don’t think “The One” is interested in stopping that but rather promoting soft socialism worldwide because he thinks that will magically end religious fundamentalism, mistakenly like a bunch of cloistered fools such as Dawkins and the others. The 19 hijackers were all college graduates, Ayman Zawahiri is a doctor, OBL is a multimillionaire contractor – the LAST thing you need to do is funnel more money to politically unstable regions like Africa or the MidEast with maniacal grassroots socialist/jihadist movements in countries that have governments too weak to contain them. Which is virtually everywhere south of the Sahara. This moron could end up having to conscript teenagers to die in the Guineau swamps to keep a Nigerian refinery operational, but you douchebags never think that far ahead or consider that Zbigneiu Brzezinski is whispering in Obama’s ear how to run the world.

  36. OldLefty, you said: It’s REALLY sad when McCain isn’t even religious.

This sentence is clearly wrong, McCain is a Christian, how interesting, those on the liberal left will say the founding fathers were not religious when all the proof shows they were* (as described, inclusive ibid) very religious; and even with the proof McCain is a Christian that one could easily check out, the statement goes forth in total inaccuracy McCain is not, when he is

  37. Jesse Helms,

Iran is in the state it’s in because Eisenhower,(who, otherwise, I liked ), caved into pressure from the big oil companies to overthrow Mossadegh, and install the Shaw, a brutal dictator with his SAVAK as enforcers.
The Iranian people hated him AND us for supporting him, and that hatred grew until they had the opportunity to launch their revolution.
‘I hope you love the results.’

    1. *”Obama also is working on making the US withdrawal of Iraq resemble the spitting image of the helicopter embassy lift from Saigon.”
    2.
Don’t Republicans LOVE Viet Nam now, because the government there provides cheap labor?
And both McCain AND Bush seem to be following Obama’s lead:
In an interview with CNN Friday, John McCain said that he thinks Obama’s 16-month timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq is “a “pretty good timetable.”
Bush just calls it “horizon something.
    Malili endorses Obama’s plan.

Your missile shields do nothing but line the pockets of the arms industry.
And PUTIN is only there as a backlash to the oligarchs. At the 1991 G7 meeting, donor countries, led by the U.S., told the embattled Soviet president that there would be little aid on offer unless he embraced radical free-market reforms that bore no resemblance to his plans for transforming the Soviet states into Scandinavian social democracies. When Gorbachev hesitated, his usefulness was suddenly and violently called into question by elite western media, enamored with the newly christened “Washington Consensus.
The Economist, in 1990 urged Gorbachev to adopt “strong-man rule” and imitate Pinochet, even if it involved “blood-letting.” The Washington Post likewise supported the idea of a coup and thought Russia needed a “despot [like] Pinochet.” So much for Gorby Fever.

Using phrases like,” socialist/jihadist movements” indicates a lack of understanding of socialism OR radical Islam.
We have ALWAYS chosen to support radical Islam over secular ,nationalist, socialist leaning leaders BECAUSE Islamic economic system ABHORS socialism.

Your Reagan/Bush/ Cheney has supported Radical Islam with their petro dollars, funneled into the Saudi royal family, to support the spread of wahabbism and radical madrasses all over the world

The right wing neocons and the right wing jihadists are peas in a pod, my friend.

  38. Bradley ,
Some of the founders were religious, some were not.
Franklin, Washington, Jefferson, Paine were all deists.

Thomas Jefferson wrote “The Jefferson Bible,” in which he sought to separate those ethical teachings from the religious dogma and other supernatural elements that are intermixed in the account provided by the four Gospels.

    He also said,

“The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg. ”
In Notes on Virginia (1782), Thomas Jefferson

As for McCain, does belonging to a church make one religious?

  39. The McCain campaign is running things like McCain is Bush. Smear, smear, smear all the way to the polls…just another thing, among many, that McCain shares with Bush.

  40. They complain that Obama’s “come together” message is just kumbaya non-sense. But a new body of research says that the feeling of social connection can have powerfully tangible effects in all sorts of practical domains. Check it out at http://www.scienceofloneliness.com

    no, just belonging doesnt make one religious, nor does it guarantee salvation;

    far right wing what?

So are you opposed to the bible based scenario where all those who are saved are taken up and then the tribulation happens? what is the belief that you dont belief?

  43. The founding fathers were deists… this is more ignorant folklore like bigfoot or the lochness monster or ufo’s in area51

its so historically inaccurate its amusing

  44. Some of our founding fathers WERE deists.
As it turns out, the most well known ones.

  45. Bradley,
I don’t believe that the Bible comes from God, anymore than the Bhagavad Gita, the Koran, the Diamond Sutra, or the Gnostic Gospels.

Each seems COMPLETELY wrong to the other.

I believe there is SOMETHING greater than myself…the rest is man made, to exert control over other people: at least in MY opinion.

Only the Bible does not contain mistakes or errors on those things we can prove, the other religious documents/books or whatever contain claims that can be disproven with science.
