Geez, do you GET it already? The dagger means bulk sales! BULK SALES, i.e., artificially buying many books to make conservative books look like best-sellers!
Get it? ONE liberal book for ONE dollar = no dagger. THREE conservative books for ONE dollar = dagger.
Sheesh! Should we try speaking esperanto? (try googling THAT, T2P)
Here you go sport.. Maybe this will help.:)
I wasn’t denying there are conservative book clubs. There are liberal/progressive book clubs but that doesn’t address the issue being discussed.
http://www.progressivebookclub.com/pbc2/viewBook.pbc?id=32
Strange, the progressive book club sells a liberal book for one dollar when joining the club, yet I didn’t see any daggers on the NYT list for this book.
Strange, couldn’t find any impartial sites to corroborate the claim.

“Liberal books NEVER sell as well as conservative books. I wonder why.”
Well, P2T, as your hero Bill O’Reilly once said, “hate sells”. And he should know, being the #1 hate peddler on television. Many of these right wing books are full of lies, innuendo and most of all, hate.
Well, of course it is very important to figure this out, because everyone knows what the majority of people believe is usually correct.

It’s easy to discredit a crackpot.
Will obama even try to discredit David Freddoso and his book “The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media’s Favorite Candidate”
August 21st, 2008 at 1:03 pm
I don’t get it. If his books are full of lies, why does he get published? Isn’t that libel?
August 21st, 2008 at 1:06 pm
There are plenty of books not worth reading or reviewing available at the “Current Affairs” section at Barnes & Noble. Anytime I see a book like Corsi’s or Coulter’s, I’m asking “why would I waste my money buying this?”
August 21st, 2008 at 1:11 pm
I don’t get it. If his books are full of lies, why does he get published?
If it’s full of lies, why isn’t corsi being sued?
August 21st, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Public figures have a very difficult time suing for slander or libel.
Courts basically have said they are fair game for any crackpot.
Blatent and outright accusal of crimes might be an exception; not sure.
August 21st, 2008 at 2:15 pm
All Corsi cares about is selling books and Obama’s campaign is giving him press time you can’t buy for all the money in any advertising agency.
August 21st, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Corsi’s book, Obama Nation, is published by Threshold Editions, a conservative publishing imprint at Simon & Schuster, which is edited by Mary Matalin, a political strategist for the Republican Party, and former assistant to President George W. Bush and counselor to Vice President Dick Cheney.
August 21st, 2008 at 2:30 pm
“Gah! We’re not talking about McCain tonight, so don’t even go there, Alan.” — What a gas! I love it!
I also loved (paraphrasing of course), “I wrote an article about 911 conspiracies, but I didn’t publish it because I knew it was even more full of turds than my usual krap.”
August 21st, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Were to start… he just wants to make money and when he is at it help McCain plant the seed of doubt. Remember why Kerry lost in 2004?
bottom line, Mr Colmes, foxe’s contributor and douchbag KARL ROVE is behind all of this, just like this dickhead Hannity calls it, “the architect”,right, the architect of this mess we are in!
August 21st, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Ann Coulter gave Hannity another “flash”?
Sorry, but she ain’t got the goods to “flash”.

And let us not forget that Mary is married to james carville.
Ever get the idea that once the doors of congress are closed both parties get together and laugh at us?

How many times does it need to be said:
AD HOMINEM FALLACY!!!!
If the accusations are false, then disprove them. If they are true on their own merits, it really doesn’t matter if a schizophrenic who thinks he’s the Messiah is the one that made them (though that would be ironic).
August 21st, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Tom, I assume you are a Republican.
Alan’s jumped the shark, like most liberals they know if they fuck this election up then there won’t be much chance of a Democratic Party in the future so they’re losing any sense of order. I think the 2002 mayoral election between Democrat Gavin Newsom winning only by 4% against Green candidate Matt Gonzalez was indicative of a complete loss of faith in mainstream liberalism, the far left are siphoning off supporters and if they can’t successfully take over the White House through the traditional organization it will be time to start looking at other options in the grassroots realm.

Amen, Brother ‘Mouse!
August 21st, 2008 at 4:33 pm
see a book like Corsi’s or Coulter’s, I’m asking “why would I waste my money buying this?”
Corsi’s book is currently #8 overall
Coulters books have been #1
Yeah, why read books that are so popular.
And pelosi’s book is #9,490.
Liberal books NEVER sell as well as conservative books. I wonder why.
August 21st, 2008 at 4:34 pm
“if they fuck this”
Wow, Jani. That’s pretty salty talk, and yet you seem to identify with a party largely populated by the Religious Right. Do you kiss your “Kill a Commie for Your” Mommy with that mouth?
I thought you Repubs were supposed to be modeling Christian behavior and family values for the rest of us schlubs? You know, because you’re so Christian, and not, like, Muslim. Except for the great Muslims you want us to die for right now.
I’m heartened that you recognize Corsi as a “crackpot,” though, and that the anti-Obama literature is largely published by conservative publishing houses, not middle-of-the-road, established firms.
August 21st, 2008 at 4:41 pm
You wouldn’t know a Hominem if it bit you in the Ad, Tom.
“Liberal books NEVER sell as well as conservative books. I wonder why.”
Larry King explained it recently.
Conservatives have a scam going:
1) Pay conservative writers to portray flimsy evidence, editorials, opinions and hearsay as fact (how else can Corsi write 8 books in 4 years?), and then
2) Pay to operate conservative publishing houses,
3) …to publish the dreck, and then
4) They buy up multiple copies of the dreck, which they then give out for free to their cronies or start “conservative book clubs: buy 3 for a dollar!”
5) And that’s how they artificially manipulate the books’ climbing up the best-seller lists.
It’s a “best-seller” list, not a “discriminating readers” list.
More lying from the Republican Religious Right.

Sarah, for the billionth time I am unaffiliated. I have no faith in any major party, but I have been especially amazed at the ability of Democrats to lose elections. I really thought Bill Clinton had turned a corner but apparently he was an anomaly, and I know some Republicans will always attribute his success to Ross Perot and Bob Dole’s inadequacy. I find this to be untrue, he was very conscientious of the pulse of America and though some on the “progressive” left attack him for what they see as cowardice or betrayal, he was very efficient at building a working coalition in Washington and for the most part maintaining a healthy domestic infrastructure. I just think some of his foreign policy choices set the stage for some rather unforeseeable difficulties, some of which are only emerging recently.
He never should have gone to Kosovo is all I’m going to say for now.
I am not a Christian or a follower of any religion. I am an individual. I call ‘em like I see them, and McCain’s crew clearly banked on low expectations. I’m not sure how well this housing thing will turn out, but it was a great set up for the Rezko reminder, whether that was intentional or accidental. The point is to keep changing the dialogue of the election, I see Obama’s current lapse mostly a fault of being reactive rather than setting the tone. McCain was having the same problem earlier before he lucked out and popular opinion turned towards drilling and the Republicans in the house threw a publicity stunt.
American voters are not logical, otherwise elections would be a lot more predictable on the basis of issues rather than narratives. I suggest you pay attention to professional liars like Frank Luntz because they understand the groupthink involved in voter blocs very well, just as Democrats secured victory in 2006 by causing conservatives to lose faith in their disloyal representatives.

#1 Conservative books get bought in bulk by right wing think tanks, therefore, their authors get invited on more shows, therefore, they get more exposure.
Also, right now,
THE DARK SIDE, by Jane Mayer. (Doubleday, $27.50.) How the Bush administration embraced the practice of torture.
THE PROSECUTION OF GEORGE W. BUSH FOR MURDER, by Vincent Bugliosi.
THE WRECKING CREW, by Thomas Frank. (Metropolitan/¬Holt, $25.) The deliberate mismanagement
Are also on the NYT bestseller list WITHOUT bulk sales.

Googling “bulk sales” “ann coulter” finds a lot of liberal sites parroting what you said.
Strange, couldn’t find any impartial sites to corroborate the claim.
Isn’t michelle malkin a right-winger, why don’t her books sell?
August 21st, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Ya, if you look at the current NYT hardcover bestseller list you’ll see all the right-wing books have daggers, indicting bulk sales, while the left-wing books don’t, such as Suskind’s expose on the Bush regime, currently at number 3.
August 21st, 2008 at 5:20 pm
John McCain is a coward….
August 21st, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Truth2Power, I’m glad you’re curiously thinking out of your box. I should have figured you’d see Larry King as MSM (but how about MTM? MGM? just kidding).
Daggers mean bulk-sales probably inflated the book to the “best-seller” list. This is from wikipedia: “Bestsellers tend not to be books considered of superior academic value or literary quality, though there are exceptions….Ultimately, having a great number of buyers creates a bestseller….”
August 21st, 2008 at 6:03 pm
NYT puts a special mark like a + when they are bought in bulk.
