Rudy G. is on CNN right now saying, “I can’t believe Obama didn’t pick Hillary, I think it shows a lack of judgement.”
Is there an echo in here?
Rudy, naturally, followed that up by calling Obama a “tax and spend liberal.” These guys need to get a fresh script to read from. Their lines are old and moldy.

Alan, can you convince Bernie Sanders to run for president and then be his running mate? He’s the only honest leftist in Washington.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Obama- Give me $40 million to cover my debts or my delegates and I will walk out of this convention. /s/ Hillary.

You make the conservatives proud, Suntan. I elect you speak at the RNC. And in your opening remarks, be sure to use some of the posts you’ve left here. Like the one above, for example.

Since you brought him up …
“Carry the battle to them. Don’t let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don’t ever apologize for anything.”
“I never gave anybody hell! I just told the truth and they thought it was hell.”
“America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.”
“Experience has shown how deeply the seeds of war are planted by economic rivalry and social injustice.”
“It’s plain hokum. If you can’t convince ‘em, confuse ‘em. It’s an old political trick. But this time it won’t work.”
“My choice early in life was either to be a piano-player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there’s hardly any difference.”
“Those who want the Government to regulate matters of the mind and spirit are like men who are so afraid of being murdered that they commit suicide to avoid assassination.”
“You want a friend in Washington? Get a dog.”

Jimmy Hoffa’s Teamster drivers are company drivers. His drivers don’t purchase any diesel fuel, their employers buy it and pass the cost on to their customers through fuel surcharges.
The price of diesel (not gas!!!) hurts the independent drivers who pay the extra cost but have a more difficult time passing the cost on. Independents are not Teamsters.
Ask Hoffa how he feels about opening the southern border and bringing Mexican trucks/drivers into the USA.
August 26th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Independent drivers usually don’t care much for union drivers.
Partly because they know the union drivers make somewhat of a decent wage while the indy may be working for next to nothing. Partly because the company drivers are often speed limited to 60-65mph and getting in the way of the indy’s who think they have to run 90mph to make any money.
Your caller is a good example. He’s convinced himself that working indy makes him a “cowboy of the open road” only after he grew up watching Claude Akins as Sonny Pruitt in “Movin’ On”. I doubt that your caller makes even $10000/year. His claims of doing better than ever are absurd.

A memorable quote from IMDB, “Movin’ On”, 1974:
Union Trucker: “Gypsie truckers – always broke or with some social disease.”
Sonny Pruett (independent, owner operator): “Well that depends…”
Union Trucker: “On what?”
Sonny Pruett: “On whether I’d accept your check, or your wife’s favors.”

Anymouse..You are right. The railroads and big trucking companys which are union are not hurting at all.In fact the high fuel price’s has helped us.The independent trucker has nobody fighting for them.
August 26th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Both parties have failed this country, yet they both blame each other . . . indicative of a bunch of addicts
August 27th, 2008 at 12:01 am
I wouldn’t exactly say the companies aren’t hurting at all, but they at least have the chance to pass some of their high fuel costs on to their customers.
Non-union drivers for small companies get some benefit from the big company union drivers whether they know it or not. The decent wages and benefits of Teamsters employment filter on down to the non-union company drivers. The owner operators are something different.
Opening the USA up to Mexican drivers/trucks is the single issue that will kill the American trucking business if it ever happens. Teamsters, non-union company drivers and owner operators will all go down together in a big, steaming heap.

Mr. Colmes keeps saying truckers are being hurt by the high price of “gasoline”. That truckers are spending a fortune putting “gasoline” in their trucks.
You put gasoline in the car or SUV. You gas up the lawn mower. You might clean your paint brushes in gasoline (a dumb idea but people do it).
Trucks haven’t used “gasoline” since about 1925.
DIESEL FUEL!!! Trucks are fueled with DIESEL!!!
