McCain Hearts Hillary No More
Here is the statement put out by the McCain campaign after Hillary Clinton’s Tueday night speech:
“Senator Clinton ran her presidential campaign making clear that Barack Obama is not prepared to lead as commander in chief. Nowhere tonight did she alter that assessment. Nowhere tonight did she say that Barack Obama is ready to lead. Millions of Hillary Clinton supporters and millions of Americans remain concerned about whether Barack Obama is ready to be President.” —Tucker Bounds, spokesman John McCain 2008
So we will hear all day, all night, all convention, all GOP convention, that Hillary didn’t sell Barack Obama, from those who want Obama to lose. And, if you are a Hillary suppoter who now wants John McCain to appoint Supreme Court Justices, you’re kidding, right?

McBush-BushCain-McBush-BushCain…Hillary painted a clear picture for America!

I just caught an NPR podcast with Professor Robert B. Cialdini, author of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, and according to him the science says that bad news and the threat of bad outcomes simply impacts human psychology far more potently than good news and the promise of good outcomes.
Ergo, Democrats should be screaming incessantly, and in detail, about all the horrible things that will happen if McCain is elected.
It may be the politics of fear, but apparently we’re wired to pay attention.

Lead this country to where? To police the world as democracy cop and instill on to others our love for the Arab magician jebus? We don’t even have a plan or set goal to make this country look like it’s people are remotely sane, this is clearly demonstrated by our leaders and past candidates runing for president and defrocked religious advisors. Just spewing the word change, change from what, headed to where? Changing skin colors of presidents?
Changing from one set of lunatics and changing to another set of lunatics, that’s all this country is about. A country of lunatics being run by lunatics.
A nation of lunatics can only elect lunatic leaders.

Actually, the thought of McCain appointing jurists such as Fred Thompson does bode well for the survival of the Constitution.

McCain is not the only one…..
High Anxiety in the Mile High City
By MAUREEN DOWD
DENVER
I’ve been to a lot of conventions, and there’s always something gratifyingly weird that happens.
Dan Quayle acting like a Dancing Hamster. Teresa Heinz Kerry reprising Blanche DuBois. Dick Morris getting nabbed triangulating between a hooker and toes.
But this Democratic convention has a vibe so weird and jittery, so at odds with the early thrilling, fairy dust feel of the Obama revolution, that I had to consult Mike Murphy, the peppery Republican strategist and former McCain guru.
“What is that feeling in the air?” I asked him.
“Submerged hate,” he promptly replied.
There were a lot of bitter Clinton associates, fund-raisers and supporters wandering the halls, spewing vindictiveness, complaining of slights, scheming about Hillary’s roll call and plotting trouble, with some in the Clinton coterie dissing Obama by planning early departures, before the nominee even speaks.
At a press conference with New York reporters on Monday, Hillary looked as if she were straining at the bit to announce her 2012 exploratory committee.
“Remember, 18 million people voted for me, 18 million people, give or take, voted for Barack,” she said, while making a faux pro-Obama point. She keeps acting as if her delegates are out of her control, when she’s been privately egging on people to keep her dream alive as long as possible, no matter what the cost to Obama.
Hillary also said she was happy about the choice of Joe Biden because he added “intensity” to the ticket. Ouch.
She added insult to injury by coming out Tuesday night looking great in a blazing orange pantsuit and teaching the precocious pup Obama something about intensity and message. She thanked her “sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits,” and slyly noted that Obama would enact her health care plan rather than his.
She offered the electrifying fight that the limpid Obama has not — setting off paranoia among some Democrats that they had chosen the wrong nominee or that Obama had chosen the wrong running mate. “It makes perfect sense that George Bush and John McCain will be together in the Twin Cities because these days they are awfully hard to tell apart,” she said.
Afterward, some of her supporters began crying, as they were interviewed by reporters, saying that her speech had proved that she would make a better president than Obama. And, as one said, she would only give him “two months” to prove himself.
Ed Rendell, the governor of Pennsylvania, compared Obama to the passive-aggressive Adlai Stevenson and told The Washington Post that Obama gives six-minute answers and “is not exactly the easiest guy in the world to identify with.”
At a meeting of the Democratic women’s caucus Tuesday, 74-year-old Carol Anderson of Vancouver, Wash., a former Hillary volunteer, stood in the back of the room in a Hillary T-shirt and hat signed by Hillary and “Nobama” button and booed every time any of the women speakers mentioned Obama’s name.
She’s voting for McCain and had nothing nice to say about the Obamas. What about the kids, I asked. “Adorable,” she agreed. Well, I said, Michelle raised them.
“I think her mother does,” Anderson shot back, adding: “I wonder if Michelle would give the Queen one of her little knuckle punches?”
Bill’s pals said he was still gnawing at his many grievances against the younger version of himself he has to praise Wednesday night; the latest one being that the Obama folks, like all winners, wanted control over Bill’s speech, so that he did not give a paean to himself and his economic record, which is what he wanted to do, because he was incensed that Obama said a couple critical things about his administration during a heated campaign.
Finally, Obama had to give in on Monday and say he would allow the ex-president to do exactly as he likes, which is what he usually does anyhow.
Obama’s pacification of Bill made his supporters depressed and anxious that he was going to be a weaker candidate than they had hoped and fearful that, as in Obama’s favorite movie, “The Godfather,” every time Democrats try to get away, the Clintons pull them back in.
And Democrats have begun internalizing the criticisms of Hillary and John McCain about Obama’s rock-star prowess, worrying that the Invesco Field extravaganza Thursday, with Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, will just add to the celebrity cachet that Democrats have somehow been shamed into seeing as a negative.
So that added to the weird mood at the convention, with some Democrats nitpicking Obama’s appearance, after Michelle’s knock-out speech and the fabulously cute girls, with a reassuring white family in a town he couldn’t remember at one point. They wondered why he wasn’t wearing a tie, fearing he looked too young, and second-guessed Michelle’s green dress, wondering if it clashed with the blue stage, and fretted that there wasn’t a speaker Monday night attacking McCain and yelling about gas prices.
“I’m telling you, man,” said one top Democrat, “it’s something about our party, the shtetl mentality.”

Fred Thompson is a good actor, but not necessarily a good judge.
For further evidence of how that works, ask yourself if you’d let Alan Alda do major abdominal surgery on you. Hawkeye, sure. Alda, not so much.
August 27th, 2008 at 8:25 am
Hearing these Hilary supporters rant about switching support to McSame just underscores that the dems have a share of the racist population too. Hatred for Obama because of his skin color isn’t just confined to the Greedy Old Party.
August 27th, 2008 at 9:07 am
It’s fun watching choice picks of the democratic national convention. It beats any of the bullshit shows on network TV. Go Hillary, Go Bill. Chelsea seems like such a nice young woman, lets see how those 2 little Obama girls turn out since their mama lets them dress in silk spaghetti straps. Yeah baby.
August 27th, 2008 at 9:22 am
I don’t believe that more than 10% of the “PUMA” Hillary supporters fall into that category.
IMO, most of them were already in the tank for whoever the GOP nominated. The GOP desperately wanted Hillary to win the nomination, and now that she’s not even going to be on the ticket, they’re desperately trying to figure out how to fight the election battle.
Racists in the Democratic Party? Sure, there are a few. But the percentage of racist Democrats, IMO, pales in comparison with the percentage of racist Republicans.

I agree with you Joe Mama .. Wish I could edit and put “some” in front of Hillary in my post. But, Hillary was dead on the money when she said “I want you to ask yourselves: Were you in this campaign just for me?”
That showed again her tremendous heartfelt love of this country.
Switching support from Hillary to McCain just makes zero sense. Certainly a move that’s viod of logicial thinking and not based on the issues at stake.

I only wish that McCain, if elected, would be able to appoint conservative supreme justices. The sad fact is that the senate will still be held by the Dems and they have to confirm the selection. They are simply not going to allow for conservatives.
Libs using this scare tactic to garner votes is interesting since this is one of the tactics they have constantly accused the GOP of using. Rovian tactics anyone?
At least if McCain is elected we can count on gridlock keeping congress from running wild with desire to “help us run our lives”. The less help we get from the federal goverment the better off we will be.

Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican
Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.
All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time.
Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification.
He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.
He turns on a radio talk show, the host’s keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day) Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I’m a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have”.

Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican
Although not all the listed “achievements” are true and accurate.
It does show that liberals believe the government should be in charge of taking care of everyone’s problems.
Contrast the above with the words of michelle at her dnc speech when she was talking about her father working hard to provide for her education and the pride he felt doing it. In the ideal liberal world her dad wouldn’t have to do anything for his daughter, the government would take care of his responsibility.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
In the ideal liberal world her dad wouldn’t have to do anything — SNIP —
Most liberals would agree that we need our government involved in part to protect us from the adgenda of greedy HATERS out there. You know, the Rove, Hannity, O’Reilly, Savage, Limbaugh, Beck, Boortz, Coulter types ..

“It does show that liberals believe the government should be in charge of taking care of everyone’s problems.”
No, just that the government shouldn’t create problems for us. Especially when it’s paid handsomely with our taxes to enrich and improve our lives through infrastructure, education, cultural opportunities, safety, oversight, etc.
But then, someone who sympathizes with Aryans and militia groups would have a major beef with government, preferring regression to progression, I would venture to guess.
I’m hep to it, and I can understand the fear and loathing. My dad’s the same way. Archie Bunker on ideological, far-right steroids, with half the heart.

Clinton remarks on Obama during their campaign
By The Associated Press – 20 hours ago
She’s making nice now, but Hillary Rodham Clinton had a lot of sharp things to say about Barack Obama during their tussle for the Democratic nomination.
A look back:
“Shame on you, Barack Obama. … Enough with the speeches and the big rallies and then using tactics that are right out of Karl Rove’s playbook.” — Feb. 2, 2008 speech.
“Senator Obama holds up his original opposition to the war on the campaign trail, but he didn’t start working aggressively to end the war until he started running for president. So when he had a chance to act on his speech, he chose silence instead.” — March 17, 2008 speech.
“Last summer he basically threatened to bomb Pakistan, which I don’t think was a particularly wise position to take.” — Feb 26, 2008 Democratic debate.
“So you decide which makes more sense: Entrust our country to someone who is ready on day one … or to put America in the hands of someone with little national or international experience, who started running for president the day he arrived in the U.S. Senate.” — Dec. 3, 2007 speech
“Well, you know, Senator Obama, it is very difficult having a straight-up debate with you because you never take responsibility for any vote, and that has been a pattern.” — Jan. 21, 2008 Democratic debate.
“If we don’t have universal health care, we will be betraying the Democratic Party’s principles. … Sen. Obama’s plan does not and cannot cover all Americans.” — Nov 28, 2007 speech.
“I know Sen. McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Sen. Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.” — March 2008 campaign commercial.
“Now, I could stand up here and say, ‘Let’s just get everybody together. Let’s get unified.’ The skies will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect.” — Feb. 23, 2008 rally.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — When school was canceled to accommodate a campaign visit by President Bush, the two 55-year-old teachers reckoned the time was ripe to voice their simmering discontent with the administration’s policies.
Christine Nelson showed up at the Cedar Rapids rally with a Kerry-Edwards button pinned on her T-shirt; Alice McCabe clutched a small, paper sign stating “No More War.” What could be more American, they thought, than mixing a little dissent with the bunting and buzz of a get-out-the-vote rally headlined by the president?
Their reward: a pair of handcuffs and a strip search at the county jail.

#4 Do you REALLY expect us to believe that you believe that the Denver police arresting a reporter is wrong, but if the three events above happened to anti Obama people, you would be defending the Democrats?
August 27th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
#1 Typical Conservative, Blame the victims.
Strange, here is an excerpt from the same link you posted at #1.
The ACLU has sued several presidents over attempts to silence opposition, as in 1997, when President Clinton tried to prevent protesters from lining his inaugural parade route
Guess that didn’t fit into your view of “typical conservatives, blame the victims.”
At least you don’t pretend to be unbiased.
Although they were within their rights to attend the event, what was the point of the “bush haters” to attend a bush rally if not to cause problems.
I’m surprised you didn’t bring up when bush objected to being questioned and had the “don’t tase me bro” guy removed by force.

A protest sign taken down in Golden within view of the DNC.
A gigantic protest sign that was visible from downtown Denver this morning has been removed from a hillside near Golden.
…
The groupʼs actions did not violate any state laws and no summonses were issued, Jefferson County officials said.
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/aug/26/huge-protest-sign-be-taken-down/
What did the sign say, of course something that was not in line with the planks of the democrat party. An acronym for Democrat National Convention.

What happened to free speech. I know, the right to free speech only refers to congress not passing any laws. It’s just strange that today Old Lefty posted about bush not wanting opposing voices heard and here are voices that aren’t being allowed to be heard. Of course the aclu won’t take this case up, exactly like the aclu refused to stand up for the boys on the duke lacrosse team that were charged with rape.
August 28th, 2008 at 2:27 am
“Blame the Victims”
Did I really blame them? I play Lotto too. I just prefer not to play in the US Justice system. There is nothing wrong with the fact that they had something to say. The First Amendment says I can say whatever I want. It doesn’t say there will be no consequences whatsoever for anything you say.
I said “It wasn’t like they had principles”.
Do you really think that the media would not have jumped all over the story if they refused to be “victimized” by taking the money? If they refused the money and actually stood up for their principles, Alan or Katy Couric would be having a lovefest with them. They took money instead.
Kinda like saying “I will let you temporarily take away my First Amendment right of free speech if you will give me $80K”.
I for one would not sell my right to keep a handgun for ANY price. IN FACT, I would not sell ANY of my rights guaranteed under The Bill of Rights.
Now, we have a truer picture of a “typical” conservative.

“I know Sen. McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Sen. Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.” — March 2008 campaign commercial.
Thank You Hillary…. I don’t think I could have said it better myself…LOL
August 28th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Wow! So the ACLU defends EVERYONE’S rights.
Who would have thunk?
Liberals think that Clinton was Republican light, (actually slightly to the right of Eisenhower).
It may surprise you to know, but most liberals are concerned about ALL executive abuse of power . We just think that while Democrats increase their power, ( on a number scale), 1-5, Republicans do it 5-10.
We are VERY worried that Obama won’t give it back, and McCain will seize more.
…………………………………………..
Just a few of MANY examples:
Kevin Egler, a 45-year-old teacher, is fighting a ticket he received for posting a sign that said “Impeach Bush” in a public garden, according to The Plain Dealer.
The Record-Courier says Egler was accused of “advertising on public property” and faces a $125 fine if convicted of putting the sign on public land near an intersection in Kent, Ohio.
November 2, 2004
Joel and Jeanne Kerwin of White House Township, New Jersey, wanted to tell their neighbors and anyone else passing by on the busy road outside their house just how they felt about this election.
So they put up a huge canvas sign in mid-October that had yellow ribbons on it indicating support for the troops. The sign, which was about twenty-four feet long and three feet high, said, “Save America, Defeat Bush.”
The Township of Readington didn’t take kindly to it. “The township gave us a summons because the sign violated a zoning ordinance that says political signs can’t be bigger than sixteen square feet,” says Jeanne Kerwin, a medical ethicist at Overlook Hospital. “They said they had five complaints about the sign. We didn’t argue; the ordinance is the ordinance. But before we took it down, it was stolen.”
Highway blogger found not guilty
by David Forbes on 03/06/2008
Jonas Phillips, the West Ashevill
The man arrested for holding an “Impeach Bush/Cheney” sign over the Haywood Road/Interstate 240 overpass in August — a form of protest known as highway blogging — was found not guilty today on charges that he was obstructing the sidewalk and endangering motorists.
District Court Judge James Calvin Hill said that the prosecution had insufficient evidence to prove its case, as none of the arresting officers had observed any pedestrians being blocked by Phillips’ actions, and that he did not believe reactions from motorists who honked their horns was enough to prove his sign a dangerous distraction.
You just said in your previous post that the ACLU defended Clinton protesters.
We will see what happens when they go to the Republican convention with signs saying
G rand
O ld
P edophiles
And the Duke lacrosse team was a criminal case, NOT a free speech case.
The ACLU is concerned with civil liberties not criminal cases.
That’s why they went to bat for Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.

Smee Again,
So they should incurr ALL the legal fees, and NOT accept the award, even when the court rules in their favor? Just be happy with the ruling?
And if the people who put the dnc sign up in Colorado were arrested, and won a court battle, THEY would not accept the money, and just shell out the lawyer’s fees??

Politics KILLED Democracy.

ABC Reporter Arrested in Denver Taking Pictures of Senators, Big Donors
Where was the outrage? All you did was post a link. You seemed quite bothered when bush did the same thing.

Are you posting this on the right blog?
Are you copying and pasting comments from other blogs?

My above post from August 28th, 2008 at 2:18 pm,
IS a copy and paste from 6 posters on the the liberal website BuzzFlash.
It demonstrates the outrage from the left as well. Some on the right act as though the left ignores this story.

And if the people who put the dnc sign up in Colorado were arrested, and won a court battle, THEY would not accept the money, and just shell out the lawyer’s fees??
PLEASE!
I thought the point was about free speech and the government interfering. Now it’s about the money?
Actually, the mainstream, infotainment, ratings driven, monopoly, deregulation loving, Sumner Redstone states that “Republicans are better for my industry”, media largely ignores these stories.
What’s the big deal? That republicans make the country a better place for business than the democrats? Is that the message you think should be on the media? Thousands of companies on television telling everyone that democrats are bad for business? And the smaller the business, the worse democrats are.
Would it make you happy if the media paraded a slew of welfare recipients admitting the democrat party is better for them?

No,the Republicans make the country a better place for monopolies and multinationals who send jobs to China than the Democrats.
Actually I would like to see more coverage of trade agreements, the role of the WTO and IMF, and the effects they have on average people, how many people returned to their homes in New Orleans, discussions about private, proprietary ownership of voting machines, the fact that most generic drugs are made in India, (don’t know if it matters, but I don’t think most people know, and they won’t find out when big Pharma spends so much in ad money).
That’s why Teddy Roosevelt pushed for and signed the Sherman Anti- trust Act, that no one will enforce since corporate money became so influential.
Would it make you happy if the media paraded a slew of CORPORATE welfare recipients admitting the REPUBLIC party is better for them?
Or are you just happy with the endless celebrity, gossip about candidates and missing girls?

Make no mistake, I’m against corporate welfare. If business is failing let it fail. If there is a need for the service/good someone else will start a company to replcae the failed on. Supply & Demand.
Or are you just happy with the endless celebrity, gossip about candidates and missing girls?
It depends if they are cute female celebrities. :)
