McCain On Palin’s Executive Experience: The PTA And Running Our Largest State
John McCain claims Sarah Palin “has been in elected office longer than Senator Obama. This is untrue. Obama was elected to the Illinois senate in 1997. Palin was elected to the Wasilla city counsel in 1992, served as mayor from 1996-2002, and has been a governor for 21 months. So, she has been in elective office, total, about 11 1/2 years, while Obama has spent more months in elective office. Funny, the argument used to be that being in elective office was a negative and that we should have citizen legislators and governors. McCain also cites her experience in the PTA as executive experience, and says Alaska is the largest state. This may be true, but that’s in terms of land mass. And Caribou. And she likes to snack on Caribou. The good suff starts at 3:54:

Palin is a Governor, Obama has been running for president. Oh, Obama did some voter registration and called it “community oganizing” to beef up his paper thin resume.

Pathetic Alan… you’ve fallen from classy to classless in a sophomoric diatribe… maybe you have always been an ass and I just missed it.
August 31st, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Alaska has the same population as Fort Worth, Texas.
Speaking of snacks, I have things in my refrigerator older than the 20 months Palin has been governor of Alaska.
I’m waiting on her troopergate affair to heat up. The timing is excellent.

You said the good stuff began at 3:54. Huh? This means you think Obama has more experience than her? He doesn’t. He’s a windbag just like you. Colmes, you only exist and talk in order to stir the pot. You’re wrong every time you speak. You’re a pathetic excuse for an American and you are IN THE WAY. Seriously, you want socialism, so hit the road – there’s plenty of commie countries that will take you. You just won’t be able to run your mouth.

Alan keep up the good work.. expose the idiot.. oh yeah sarah palin’s baby is not hers.. please highlight this, as this would be another nail in her coffin..lying on day 1 toerag..

Voting ‘present’ as a senator doesn’t get even close to being a governor or even a mayor for executive experience.

haha, TDRO. Just another sign of the impending apocalypse.
Seriously, though, I agree wholeheartedly with him. I really hope that the precautions taken and the general preparedness for this disaster will pay off. I was watching Bobby Jindal speak this morning and I admire his l leadership on this. I obviously don’t agree with him politically on much, but this was just a man genuinely looking out for the common good of his fellow man. It’s times like this where the labels of “liberal” and “conservative” just seem so insignificant. We’re all Americans.
God bless Louisiana and Bobby Jindal.

Grandma Palin will be exposed. She’s a fake, a fraud and a liar.
I give her credit for trying to protect her 16 year old daughterd though. Good job mom I mean grandma.
August 31st, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Mr. Colmes,
Exactly what is “likes to snack on Caribou” supposed to mean? Would you say Mr. Obama “likes to snack on fried chicken? waffles?” Or that you, a Jew, “likes to snack on lox?” Or that Mexicans “like to snack on tacos?” You make no point other than to show that you have prejudices against people that are different from you. Really, you are sinking quite low today.
August 31st, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Colmes, you gutless scumbag, repost your execration accusing Sarah Palin of causing Trig’s Downs Syndrome (a genetic condition that was diagnosed weeks or months before birth) by her activities the day the child was born. You are a spineless coward and a stupid one two. This idiot spew of yours has been preserved and is available for all to view. Taking it off this website merely emphasizes your cowardice and ignorance.

“Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.
As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden’s.
She’s also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counterterrorism plans. Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country’s defense.”
August 31st, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Obama is an empty suit with no leadership experience. Palin has years of leadership experience including being a Governor of a resource rich state.
Palin is a leader, I’m voting for leadership not teleprompter speaking.

Are you saying being elected to the Wasilla city counsel and then being elected Wasilla’s mayor, doesn’t count as elected office? What, pray tell, do you consider elected office?
I mean, you just go on to prove McCain right. If Obama was first elected in 1997 and Palin was first elected in 1992, that means Palin held elected office five years before Obama. Just keep digging your hole Alan…
August 31st, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Maybe my math is bad, but Sarah Palin was first elected to office in 1992 and has been serving the public since. The only elected post she hasn’t had was an appointment to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, from which she resigned because of the shady ethics of the otner members.
Barack Obama was elected to the Senate in 1997
…..didn’t 1992 happen about 5 years before 1997???
August 31st, 2008 at 9:19 pm
All of the spam Colmes is getting is simply hillarious.
I mean, consider the situation. What you have here is Alan Colmes, a gutless weasel talk show host who was handpicked by Sean Hannity to be his debate opponent on Hannity & Colmes, a prime time show for the Republican Fox News Channel, headed by former GOP operative Roger Ailes. Hannity picked Colmes because he was gutless, shallow, weasel-faced and annoying.
Fox is a Republican outlet. So they give conservatives exactly what they want. A whining, gutless caricature of a liberal. A token. A pathetic little monkey that only has a job so hypocritical, jackasses like Brent Bozell can pretend that “HURR FOX IS BALANCED, THEY’VE GOT THAT LIBERAL ALAN COLMES”.
And now, when he does something that they don’t like, look at the pure rage that explodes across right-wing blogs.
Hate to break it to you Allah Pundit, Ed Morrisey, Tammy Bruce, Ace of Spades, but Colmes exists to amuse you fucking idiots since your so pathetic you can’t deal with a real liberal being allowed on your favorite news channel.
The only thing more pathetic than a gutless, token-weasel like Alan Colmes are the conservative idiots too stupid to realize that he’s only there to keep them sheltered from the real world.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Alan,
Sarah Palin was ELECTED in 1992 – Obama was ELECTED in 1997. Last time I checked my math 1997 came after 1992 – are you truly that STUPID?

This is my first visit to alan.com. WOW!
Every night an H&C I try to keep an open mind. When Alan speaks I grit my teeth and try to understand some essence of his views. I don’t appreciate the snide remarks, the hit-and-run verbal tactics and the self-pity when someone actually wins a verbal battle. But I still try to understand.
That was then, this is now. Visiting this site has disillusioned me beyond my ability to overlook tactics to discover heart. Here I find none. You have no code. I’m sorry for you and your family.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Did I understand Sen. McCain correctly then, that Sen. Obama in all his years serving in the State & US Senates does “not have one single day of executive experience.” Because that would then mean that Sen. McCain is admitting that in 26 years of his serving as US Senator, Mr. McCain does not believe he himself has ever had any executive experience. And he’s the one running for President? Perhaps HE should consider being Gov. Palin’s running mate in order to better serve America, country first you know. After all, she ran a PTA. Every PTA parent is now qualified to be US President. Oh wait, the Constitution stipulates the qualifications are that you be a 35yo & over natural born citizen living here 14 years to qualify. Nothing about PTA status. I’ll be running for the office in 2012 since I have more executive experience than all of them put together and fulfill all the actual stipulated requirements.

But but Trace, Alan has studiously documented every moment of Governor Palin’s delivery of her son. He’s got a timeline!!!
The blog author (who could use a set of closing quotes) also uses a rather derogatory tone about PTA involvement which undermines his earlier insinuation that she doesn’t have enough concern for her children.

I am not a Republican or a right winger, I am a mom of a disabled child. I have never been to this blog before today when I heard what you wrote about Gov. Palin and her baby boy born with Downs Syndrome. I have never been so disgusted by a so-called “progressive”. I plan to let as many people and agencies as I can know about your vile post. How low, I mean, going after a special needs baby….there are no kind words to describe it.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Alan Colmes is a little weasel. If he has to say this to her RUNNING MATE, before recoiling from the right(eous anger) and taking the post down, the man has no balls.
Of course, Fox News isn’t completely “fair and balanced”. However, ‘Tom’, between the other two networks, we conservatives get Glenn Beck. That’s it.
Getting past partisan sniping, I’m sure that Governor Palin has the experience to be a competent VP. As noted above, she’s privy to much classified national defense information, she was elected to public office in 1992, and she “likes munching on caribou”. Which she kills herself. She’s an NRA member, a pro-lifer, and a real conservative. Hell, I’d vote for her over McCain OR Obama.
Keep it real… unfortunately, that’s not happening on this blog…
August 31st, 2008 at 9:46 pm
What is this tendency the Lefties have in inventing scenerios that have no basis in reality, and then launch some kiddie sing-song type attack. Like Tom’s for instance.
That he actually believes there is a “Republican bubble” somewhere and that it exists on Fox.
Every conservative who has major issues with the GOP will tell you the number one persistant problem is that they do no PR .. There is no bubble.
There is a Left wing bubble though….. which of course is why braindead Leties just assume there is a Right-wing one… because Lefties are incapable of not viewing their ‘enemies’ as anythign other then mirror images of themsevles.
I think that’s why they invest so much in ugly personal attacks..they just assume everyone is as assholish as they are .

McCain’s pick of Palin destroys the argument saying that Obama is not ready. I would respect McCain more if he picked somebody else like Ronmey. His pick of Palin flat don’t make any sense at all. If he had to pick a woman, why not Condolezza Rice, or Christina Todd Whitman, or Elizabeth Dole? I bet none of you have never heard of Palin before last Friday. Today, I hung around the young people today at the church picnic. I had to do that to avoid another annoying conversation on politics.

How many times have I watched Hanity and Colmes?? Too many to sount. I can’t tell you Alan how very disappointed I am in you. I did think you had some class and were able to make a good case for the liberal side. What the hell happened??? You have fallen in the gutter with the rest of the pathetic left wing dominated media. With NOTHING to get your teeth into you have allowed a total lapse in judgement (speaking of judgement) to inform your character. While you speak of woman’s issues as if you have something of an idea of what they are, I now realize you are speaking from one side of your mouth and acting like an extreme left wing mouthbreather from the other. I am so ashamed of you. How can I watch H&C now? You are just the same as those Daily Kos mysogynist mouthbreathers. I am not on some hate Colmes rant. It is just that having watched you for so long, I now feel sick.

Yes, he is. He’s trying hard to turn the truth into a lie by comparing “months” served. Shoot, why doesn’t he break it down into days served and remove the weekends? Did Colmes subtract all the vacation hours taken by each person? How’s about minutes and bathroom breaks?
Facts are facts: Palin began serving in elected office while Obama was perfecting his stammer as an unelected socialist. Colmes is attempting to get around facts like the precious little liberal he is.
“Which is the largest state?”
:)
That would, in fact, be Alaska. Geography is hard. For some people, anyway.
Once again we see facts confusing the heck out of liberals. They think those pesky things are misleading.

“Damn, can these people get over being mad at Alan for making a bad opinion?”
Why sure. Where did Colmes admit he “made” a “bad opinion?”
“Do you want to lynch him?”
Racist implication aside, no.
“I never feel that way about Hannity and I certainly don’t always agree with him.”
So what?
“The behavior carried in this blog is only proving Alan right.”
But, I thought the “opinion” Colmes “made” was “bad?”
I for one am more than ready to rub Colmes’ snout in the ridiculous, unfounded, unthinking, uncaring, incompetent opinion he rendered. And if he’s going to be stupid enough to render it, he should be vertebrate enough to face it. It’s that whole “personal responsibility” thing liberals like to ignore.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:57 am
“Exactly – why would he choose a Democrat, when there’s plenty of “Family Values” Repulicans with those qualifications to pick from.”
Well, that certainly reaffirms the way liberals define “family values.” But then, they no doubt base it on personal experience.

“Does Barack Osama Hussein Obama,s experience as a drug dealer count as executive experience?”
It’s probably worth more than any experience you or Johnny-boy have.
But let’s think about it. Drug dealers face heavy competition over sales territory and market share. They have to deal with severe market regulation. It’s a cut-throat industry. A hostile take-over involves something far more dangerous than some effete Republican lawyer in a Brooks Brother’s cut. And there’s nobody at city hall or in Washington to lobby for special favors or tax breaks.
So, yeah, I’d say probably a drug dealer could teach you and Johnny-boy a whole bunch of things about free enterprise and economics.

Well, Alan I have done a lot today to try to inform others of your attack on innocent children with disabilities. I will resume again tomorrow. I think I will start telephoning rather than just using the internet tomorrow. Attacking babies with Down’s Syndrome is not okay Alan, not even for a “progressive” “democrat”. What ever happened to the democracy in the word Democrat? Was it stolen by some Chicago thugs or some far left fringe? Alan, I want my party back, and you’re not in it.

LOL. You’re an absolute fucking moron. Fox News, Republican talk radio, the Wash Times, the New York Post, NRO, right-wing blogs, etc…
Yeah, no echo chamber there. No bubble. You’re a complete fucking idiot, aren’t you? It’s amazing how fundamentally stupid some Republicans are. How they can actually sit there watching something like Fox, which features a non-stop parade of partisan Republicans from Neal Cavuto to O’Reilly to Hume to Ingraham, Gibson, Gutfeld, Fox & Friends, E.D. Hill, Hannity, etc… and actually manage to convice themselves that “HURR FOX ISN’T A BUBBLE, ALAN COLMES HAS A JOB”. OF course, ignoring the fact that Colmes only has a job because Ailes didn’t want a serious pundit sitting opposite Hannity, so he handpicked the most gutless weasel he could find to represent the Left.
It’s fundamentally AMAZING how ignorant REpublicans are of the facts. You show them studies proving that Fox stacks its guest lists with four times as many Republicans than Democrats, or incident where Fox News reporters have been caught fabricating quotes by Democratic politicians–and still, you have mindless fucking idiots like Vince P. who try to convice themselves that they’re not living in the bubble.
Well, according to Scott Rasmussen, he’s full of shit. Because 90% of Fox’s audience is Republican. That’s what we like to call a “bubble”.
But don’t worry dude, keep telling yourself that you’re getting objective news from a former attack strategist for Richard Nixon, Reagan and Bush.
Moron.

I think you should have more of a concern over our current president not being able to read a map! You know, considering he bombed the wrong country!

I believe we have had the Republican Executive Experience for 8 years:
Bush and Cheney both had a lot of this “executive experience” – look where that has landed the U.S.
Budget Deficits
Trade Imbalance
Housing Crisis
Banking Crisis
War
Decaying Infrastructure
No Jobs
Poison Paint
Re Generating Two Super Powers (Russia – China)
….
Do we need more ….. ??

I would like to know why Palin has been credited as having been against the bridge to nowhere when she was all for it until their was a national outcry about it. And it’s not like she gave the money back….she just used it for other things.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Listen Alan..*im so pissed off*.. im an Independent, as such I have 3 questions that I believe all candidates must answer..
1) Do you believe a president must have and show a good temperament? and if so, would you allow all records on you to be fully disclosed to the American public?
2) A president at all times must show good judgement, have you always displayed this, give example.
3) I believe the president should be a man of honour, what’s your definition of honour? The candidate(s) that answers these simple questions truthfully, will get my vote… nah just kidding..McCain could not answer none of these.. so i guess it’s Obama by a landslide..

Today John McNobrains was out trying to score political points with the hurricane crisis in new Orleans, but my memory is not short and I remember this time 3yr ago when JM was out celebrating his birthday with bush whilst 1800 Americans died and he showed no support to the victims..see proof here…..
that attitude was borne out in McCain’s actions and votes. Forty Senators and 100 members of Congress visited New Orleans before he did; he finally got there in March 2006. He voted against establishing a Congressional commission to examine the Federal, State, and local responses to Katrina in mid-September 2005. He repeated that vote in 2006. He voted against allowing up to 52 weeks of unemployment benefits to people affected by the hurricane, and in 2006 voted against appropriating $109 billion in supplemental emergency funding, including $28 billion for hurricane relief… This fool should not be a senator let alone president.

Just responding to folks who say Obama has not been tending to his senate work…trolling for votes ect…if you check records for not casting votes …Mccain is at the top of the list at 63 % ..even scored higher at nonvoting than the senator who had a brain hemorage..go figure…and this stupid talk about obama serving 147 days in the senate??? If so why is the Rnc counting 900 days since Obama visited Iraq…can’t have it both ways….If Mccain wins this election Im jumping the border fence and heading south…this lovefest for women coming from the Republicans makes me laugh out loud….

Attention Obama Haters:
Obama spent 8 years in the Illinois Senate. Most of you give Palin huge credit for being a Senator for 1.5 years as more important than being a senator. Your argument makes her more qualified than McCain too since she has her “administrative” experience.
I’m sure she’s a great lady and I like what she brings to the table…but the argument about all that great experience she has is very lame.

According to a 12/10/06 article in the Herald Tribune:
“While the 49th is an Alaska National Guard unit, Hildreth reports to Colonel Michael Yowell, commander of the 100th Missile Defense Brigade, based in Colorado.”
So apparently Palin is NOT Commander in Chief when it comes to this “special” unit. Funny that the original blogger who wrote this up never mentioned that. Note that this blogger never actually said that Palin commanded the 49th. He or she only said that the 49th was in Alaska. Hmm…
It’s scary how fast misinformation can travel. This particular misinformation already appears on dozens of websites(often plagiarized, I may add).
