17-Year-Old Bristol Palin Five Months Pregnant
The announcement of this pregnancy is being positioned as a way to knock down rumors that Bristol is the mother of Sarah Palin’s four-month-old child. It is being claimed that the McCain campaign knew about this before the VP announcement. And Bristol is going to marry the thus-far-unnamed baby daddy.

Here’s what the Palins are saying:
“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates,” the statement concluded.
Liberal blogs which have suggested that Sarah Palin as actually the grandmother of 4-month-old Trig Palin are being blamed for the need to come forward with this information.
“The despicable rumors that have been spread by liberal blogs, some even with Barack Obama’s name in them, is a real anchor around the Democratic ticket, pulling them down in the mud in a way that certainly juxtaposes themselves against their ‘campaign of change,’” a senior [McCain] aide said.
Gee, I’d hate to be the person who asks the “judgment” question here. But can you imagine what the reaction would have been from the right if a 17-year-old Chelsea had been pregnant?

Or, can you imagine the reaction on the left had the right even DARED to criticize Chelsea. You’re despicable Alan.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Go ahead Alan. Tell everyone the actual date on that picture that your liberal friends have been trotting out and pouring over more feverishly than paparazzi looking for Angelina’s many baby bumps. How many shovels have you needed this weekend, anyway?
September 1st, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Wow Alan. I bet you couldn’t wait to put up THAT post. Keep it up. I’m sure the public will understand your criticism. You’ll end up ‘judging’ Sarah Palin right to the Vice Presidency.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Nobody hates like a liberal. For liberals, beating up Palin through her 17 year old pregnant daughter is perfectly acceptable behavior. Your failure to condemn such execrable tactics, Alan, says volumes about you.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:03 pm
The reaction, Alan, would likely have been “I hope she decides not to abort.”
Hey, Alan, what happened to your blog entry about whether Gov. Palin acted responsibly during her pregnancy? BTW, where’d you get your MD in OB-GYN? Alternatively, when did you last give birth?
September 1st, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Hmmm, sure hope she is getting proper pre-nataal care huh Alan, you judgemental asshole.
If you cna’t post hard news, just make something new up eh you shit for brains?
September 1st, 2008 at 2:08 pm
What happened to RESPECTING the children of candidates?
I don’t think respect is in your vocabulary. Or compassion.
I can’t wait to watch your fall from the top to the bottom. All LIVE and online. The internet will broadcast it all. :)
September 1st, 2008 at 2:12 pm
I guess that Gov. Palin was too busy running Alaska to have the birds and the bees talk with her daughter. That is disappointing. However, as someone who believes only in very very limited abortions, I do applaud Bristol’s decision to keep her baby.
Still, the birds and the bees talk could’ve helped prevent this. If our kids are going to ignore our advice and be sexually active, they should be protected.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:15 pm
At one time I respected you, Alan. No more. Leave the girl alone. If you knew anything you would know that Downs Syndrome is chromozonial. Pre-natal care has nothing to do with the Syndrome. Where is your originial post Alan? If you took it down at least you could apologize for your uninformed statments.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:16 pm
What makes you think the ‘birds and the bees’ talk didn’t happen? It’s not like a talk is going to convince a teenager to disobey or go against her parents wishes now is it? And besides aren’t you libs the ones saying if it feels good just do it?
September 1st, 2008 at 2:18 pm

I would love to hear from the evangelicals… I would love to hear from the Catholic Bishops…. Let’s hear how they will spin this one. LOL!
September 1st, 2008 at 2:20 pm
I guess Bristol was asleep at her Assembly Of God Church. Next time her boyfriend should use a condom. What trailer trash. Like Mom, Like Daughter. At least the two of them can go to “Mommie and Me” meetings together.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:20 pm
Is that all you have to say about Palin and her family? Is that all you can come up with? Here daughter is pregnant? Talk about side-stepping and attacking a candidate through their family. EVERYONE showed support when Al Gore’s son had a wild, booze induced, ride with the cops hot on his tale. Remember that one from a few years back? No comments were warranted on your blog when that happened.
I heard about you musings about Gov Palin’s prenatal care. Come up from under the mud for a moment my friend and clear yoursef off!!!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 2:21 pm
No spin necessary. Why would they weigh in on an issue such as that? So easy to criticize isn’t it?
September 1st, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Not only is the daughter knocked up but CNN reports that Todd Palin the husband of Mrs. Palin had a DWI in 1984. Why’s all this being revealed now? It should of been reported last week.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:22 pm
You can’t find anything on Mom (Sarah) so daughter (Bristol) and un-born grand kid are fair game?
Have you no shame Alan?
September 1st, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Sarah Palin put her Country first alright. She put her Country first and her children at a DISTANT second.
The proof is in her daughter’s stomach you stupid republicans.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Alan, Alan, Alan:
When did you become a tabloid pig? Chelsea Clinton may have had 15 abortions for all we know- we WOULDN’tknow, as the Clintons never tell us anything. Neither does the press.
How old was Obama’s Mama when she got married? Oh she WAS pregnant- does that make him ineligable to run for office, the fact that he was almost a ” bastard” child?I have certainly seen some slutty photos of her but don’t recall that you made comments on them…..
Can’t you find something better to blab about? You used to be entertaining, now you only are acting as an emetic..
Gotta go barf- AGAIN! PLEASE- stick to issues, not bullpucks..
By the way, my husband’s Mom wasn’t married, was 16 and we are both physicians with a lovely family of our own. It doesn’t mean anything, and you know it! I respected you when you acted ” More Smarter…”
Grow up, honey. We , your readers, deserve better from you.
Kat
September 1st, 2008 at 2:28 pm
You conservative wingnuts need to take off your blinders.
Yes this is fair game. Why? Because Momma Palin is so firm on controlling everyone’s life. No right to abortion. No right to gay marriage. No right to study evolution.
What crap.
This “Paragon Of Virtue” should be an example of what she preaches. Instead she is a common, everyday human who likes sex – married or not. Same with her daughter.
Normally that is not food for public consumption, but when she tries to preach to others, that’s hypocrisy.
And hypocrisy has to be called out, especially when this lying woman is a step away from the Presidency.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Oops- I meant I saw slutty pictures of Chelsea, not Obama’s Mama. We never see her- isn’t she caucasion?
Kat
September 1st, 2008 at 2:29 pm
This could backfire big time into a huge right to life issue. Considering Obama’s record in that regard, I’d think you bright light bulbs would be smart enough to drop it.
Guess not.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:31 pm
“Bristol and the young man she will marry…”
Back in the day, this used to be called a “shotgun wedding.” Now it’s what the radical rightists refer to as “Christian family values”.
“What happened to RESPECTING the children of candidates?”
You’re kidding, right? Here’s some of the respect recently shown by the radical rightists in posts on this blog.
“…douchebag Nazi…”
“…nutroots…”
“…sick-minded…”
“…asshole…”
“…liar…fraud…coward.”
“…snivling worm…”
“…liberally retarded views.”
“…this jew and that lying bitch…”
“…fucking cockface…”
“…mutant…”
“…disgusting, low and moronic…”
“And Chelsea doesn’t look a thing like Bill.”
The problem with the radical right is you’re utterly without restraint when dishing it out, but when it comes to taking your medicine, well, what can I say? You squeal like little girls.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Bullwinkle:
I don’t recall Mrs. Palin lying- she admitted her daughter i s pregnant. She doesn’t preach, she has beliefs.
You all need to get a grip- Bristol isn’t running for office. Neither is Jamie Lynn Spears….
Kat
September 1st, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Gosh, Alan. I’ll bet the right’s comment if it had been Chelsea would have been to be thankful she didn’t abort. IF the right had dared bring it up, let alone speculate as the left has, they would have been crucified–and any elected official taking part in any discussion would have heard calls to resign. BTW, is the liberal take on this that she is being ‘punished with a baby?’
September 1st, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Keep putting up crap Mr. Colmes, you almost buried It’s About Judgement, Stupid. One more innane post and it will drop off your front page.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:35 pm
I can’t speak for every conservative, Alan, but I know that if it were Chelsea Clinton, my reaction would have been “Prayers for a safe pregnancy and a healthy child” — and a certain amount of shock that the baby hadn’t been quietly aborted.
And i’m still curious — what does your Women’s Studies professor wife think about you intruding into questions about a woman’s reproductive choices?
September 1st, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Allen, Allen, Allen…you try so hard to sound smart and funny. This is the begining of the end for the Dems as you all get swallowed up in your own hate and anger. I have devout Christian friends who have children that have had the same thing happen. At least they have the courage to to make the correct decision to have the children.
“Gee, I’d hate to be the person who asks the “judgment” question here.” Sounds to me that you are making the “judgement” and we all know what is said about that Allen…Judge not lest ye be judged”

Wow Alan can’t find anything of substance so you have to scrape the gutter.
Why don’t you mention that Sen. Obama was born on August 4, 1961 (8 lbs 2 oz) about 6 months after his mother and father were married? I guess you don’t want to go near that gutter.
Alan, keep it clean and talk about things of substance there is enough personal problems to go around.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:00 pm
All the media outlets are reporting this story. Have you Colmes-haters visited blogs on their sites to malign them? Hmmmm???
September 1st, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Abstinence Only programs, Ms. Palin?
You can preach it, but you can’t teach it. Sarah, worry less about what other kids learn in school about sex and worry more about what’s happening under your own roof!
Christ how embarrassing. It’s obvious that McCain had no idea about this otherwise we’d have seen Romney or Huckabee standing by his side last Friday. Really lousy job of vetting, Senator McCain. What else don’t we and the McCain campaign know about Ms. Sarah? Sloppy John, very sloppy.
Sarah Palin makes Dan Quayle look like a good pick.
Harriet Myers anyone?
And as far as Alan posting this, Reuters broke the story at 12 noon and it’s all over the internet including the Drudge Report. Stop blaming Alan for the mistakes and poor judgement of others. I know you won’t of course, but you needen’t get so emotional about it. Isn’t that what Rush says, liberals do? lol!

Obama’s parents are both dead. His father died in a car accident in 1982 and his mother died of cancer in 1995. His maternal grandmother that played a big role is raising him is still alive, but she is in her late 80s and can’t travel and doesn’t grant interviews.

“Obama just said this subject is off limits. He has some class. You have ZERO bringing it up. Have you any shame?”
HA! Have you ever MET a Democrat?
Obama’s knives will be carving this up, they just won’t be wielded by him. That’s what Colmes and the other wordhipping minions are for.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Gee Alan where to begin? You really must be concerned that Sarah Palin is an asset to McCain cause you sure have stooped to a record number of lows this weekend. “thus far unnamed baby daddy” since when does a 17 yr. old or any pregnant woman (no matter who she is) have to give you and the rest of the world the name or her childs father so that you left wing loons can go harass him too? “Judgement” what does the 17 yr. olds actions have to do with the parents judgement? I don’t think you want to open the “judgement” issue do you? Let’s not forget about Obama’s “judgement” to allow born-alive babies to be left alone in closets until they die because it might question the “judgement” of the so-called mother and doctor. So much for you saying that children are off limits, I guess that’s only children of Democrats? You have really gone way to far and it seems that you keep digging a deeper hole. You should have apologized for the first item that got you in trouble this weekend and dropped it.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Yeah….good ol’ Christian Family Values. Bunch of damned hypocrites !!
Also, Focus On The Family should take a long look at themselves. Since they prayed for “rain of biblical proportions” for Obama’s outdoor acceptance speech, God decided to send a little weather for their convention.
If I wasn’t a ‘believer’ before, I sure am now.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:18 pm
I think this breaking news is hysterical. The McCain/Palin ticket didn’t break this news until they were promised over six million dollars in donations. Too funny! I wonder now if the talking heads are going to stop preaching about having children out of wedlock because the practice leads to poverty. The person I feel sorry for is Bristol. Talk about piss poor parenting skills. How many marriages last when one marries at such a young age?
September 1st, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Sarah Palin:
“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support,” the Palins said.”
Barack Hussein Obama:
“Look, I got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old,” he said. “I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at age 16, so it doesn’t make sense to not give them information.”
So apparently babies are punishment according to the Great Obie One.

OBOMAMAMA
“In 1959 Dunham’s parents moved to Hawaii to pursue further business opportunities in the new state. She soon enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she studied anthropology. There she met Barack Obama, Sr., a graduate student from Kenya and the school’s first African student, in a Russian class. When they became engaged, both sets of parents opposed the marriage, with Barack, Sr.’s father in particular objecting. Nevertheless, the couple married on **February 2, 1961** in Maui, Hawaii. On **August 4, 1961**, at age 18, she gave birth to her first child whom she named Barack Hussein Obama II.
In an interview, Barack Obama referred to his mother as “the dominant figure in my formative years… The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics.”
WELL, WELL, WELL
September 1st, 2008 at 3:23 pm
You said “Gee, I’d hate to be the person who asks the “judgment” question here. But can you imagine what the reaction would have been from the right if a 17-year-old Chelsea had been pregnant?”
The only question about judgement should be about your judgement and ethics. Attack pieces on minors should be totally off limits.
Shame on you Sir.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:25 pm
I thought Conservative Christians felt women’s chief responsibilities were home and family. So I’m a bit surprised any of them would rally behind a woman with an infant.
I don’t think it’s her time yet. Looks like her daughter’s already gotten lost in the shuffle.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Wow.. am I the blog for the Reproductive System of the Palin family?
Alan: what’s next.. you going to tell us when she takes her next shit and which way she wipes?
September 1st, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Why are we wasting our time with this? This isn’t news nor is politics, nor does it even matter. Look at Barack Obama and when his mother gave birth. These are pointless smears that the media is and some left wing bloggers are putting out there; and it is downright annoying and dare I say evil.
Lets focus on the issues, and this is not one of them.
Thanks,

Statement from James Dobson:
“In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.
”Being a Christian does not mean you’re perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I’ve been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I’m sure the Palins have.
“The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a ‘hypocrite,’ but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans.”
September 1st, 2008 at 3:34 pm
The left can keep up the smears but in the end we on the right are very happy with Palin and that will be proven when the fundraising numbers come in.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Where is the deception? The girl didn’t go behind her mother’s back and have an abortion. She didn’t even consider an abortion. The boy is doing the right thing. People need to decide if we live in the 50s or 2008. So called “values” change with the generations. Nobama’s mother can have a baby with a married man, and she can teach her son morals? Who’s the hypocrite? Nobama says he doesn’t want his daughters punished with a baby. At least Bristol realizes that a baby is a wonderful gift and not a punishment (until they put peanut butter in their hair, that is). I think that shows wonderful family values!

Your question about whether Gov. Palin took proper prenatal care is appropriate. You are probably mad with your mom for her neglect which resulted in your being a half witted idiot.

Kat:
She’s lying when she claims to have broken water in Dallas, given a 1/2 hour speech, driven to the airport, taken a two-step 9 hour flight to Alaska and then a 45 minute drive to the hospital and then delivered.
If she’s not lying, she can withstand more pain than 90% of the human race and is at best an irresponsible mother since when the baby enters the canal a doctor has to constantly monitor the baby’s health 24/7 since there are too many ways for it to die there.
Too many holes in her rendition of things. So while I can’t say I’m 100% sure she’s lying, just say I’m 99.99% sure.
I love it when these self-righteous Christians (Gingrich comes immediately to mind) preach their values crap which they try to ram down the throat of a nation, and then have to fess up to the realities of their lives.

I don’t think this baby will ever be on public assistance, or welfare. I doubt the family will need food stamps or rent subsidies. So, I say as long as people are responsible for there lives, they can have as many babies as they want to, married or not. The ones that do need all the help has as many babies as they want. I’ve always supported my children, without uncle sams help, and this baby is probably going to make this family very happy.

She is not the one who is ashamed of the USA.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Yeah I bet the Palins are just THRILLED that this came out today.
What a great Mom. She has a 17 year old pregnant daughter and a newly born special needs baby and instead of devoting her time to them, because they are BOTH going to need it desperately, she thinks ambition first instead. It’s one thing to be governor of Alaska, it’s quite another thing to join a 24/7 national campaign and possibly become vice president of the United States.
Did she not realize the entire country would know about her daughter when she agreed to take the vice president slot? Did she not realize that she would be exposing her daughter to all this public scrutiny and humiliation?
How incredibly selfish.

BREAKING NEWS
Intercepted emails indicate the Palin family has declined the
generous offers from Obama and the Democratic Party.
One email reads, in part:
Dear Sarah,
We fully understand your daughter’s problem. No good
American should be plagued with an unwanted baby that
will interfere with political future.
We have good news, arrangements have been made with
Governor Kathleen Sebelius from Kansas. She has volunteered
to use her private jet and fly in Doctor George Tiller. He is
an expert on such problems.
Unfortunately, today is a holiday and our Obama Infanticide
clinic is closed but we have contacted the corner butcher shop
and Mr. Harvey Carver is willing to help should you feel
desperate.
Please Sarah, don’t rush to judgment, your daughter has a
full nine months to make her decision. Tiller advises that
you not linger around very long after eight months because babies
lungs are fully developed and they can be quite loud thrashing
around when we stick-um with the giant needle. Besides the
waist material is quite large by then causing us disposal
problems.
Don’t feel guilty, you have Obama’s full support when it
comes to removing unwanted problems.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:21 pm
I can’t believe that you continue to be so graceless, Alan. If you can’t talk about the issues, aim for the family. Firstly, Mrs. Palin flying at the time you are speaking of is not necessarily medically contraindicated.
Secondly, you are assuming something about the right and what our response would have been re Chelsea Clinton. Aside from a few crackpots, I know that it would have been respectful and full of goodwill. We value babies regardless of the circumstances of their conception. Am I to assume that you are a crackpot? From the amount of buzz, I believe you are representing the lefty spin machine.

Interesting, isn’t it, the number of “bad mother” “slutty teenager”, “ignorant fundie” comments from the tolerant liberals who believe in women’s rights, “the right to choose” and religious tolerance. Just look at all the threads in question.
But it is somehow the conservatives who are haters.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:45 pm
I supported Palin initially, but now I’m starting to seriously wonder. She doesn’t appear pregnant at all. I mean, in February 2008 she did a Vogue magazine shoot – which she didn’t appear pregnant.
If the daughter was pregnant, missing from school for five months; and they did not Vet her properly because they were waiting for the last moment to see what happened with Hillary Rodham Clinton; that’s just dirty and out right nasty on the McCain campaign. Furthermore, to woman in general.
But, now they come out and say that Bristol is pregnant and going to marry the young man? Well, I think they’re lying more now – that girl does not appear pregnant to me. The lies are becoming more complex. It would be better for her to just come out and say that the baby is not hers (Sarah) and she lied for the daughter and the daughter is not pregnant, but will be getting married.
The more this plays out; or the truth of the baby not being Sarah’s – questions will remain in Independents like me who was only voting for the Democrat if HRC was on the ticket; Sarah Palin gave me reason to vote for McCain; but now, I’m thinking of not voting for anyone. How sad has this nation become?

Alan, what you highlighted is just stupid….have you ever been pregant with you fifth child? Do you know the difference between ruptured membranes or just a leak? Do you know the difference between twinges and timed labor pains? Do you know the difference of wanting your regular ob delivering you versus a stranger? If you have not walked the talk, then SHUT UP! I have been here and done almost the same thing….why becuase a group of strangers delivered my first wit devestating results, an infant death at 48 hours old. My second, I was able to get bact to my ob and got a 32 week perfect baby boy…….
As far as the 17 year — things happen –it was fine for Brittany Spears 15 year old sister……The bottom line here is also, it is nobody’s business…….If it had been a 17 year Chealsa…. it would of been between her, the father, and his/her parents………
September 1st, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Alan, it’s time for Fox to dump you. What the Palin daughter does is, frankly, not your business. Pregnancy is NOT a disase unless, of course, you are a liberal a-hole in which case you probably get an abortion because, to quote Obama, you don’t want to be “punished with a baby”. Alan, you are sick and need to get help.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Thank you, For telling the truth Harvey Carver. McCain/Palin 08.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:01 pm
her daughter is a little slut! Im voting barr 08!
September 1st, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Here’s the “evangelical” spin for you (not that I appreciate being labeled “evangelical” like I’m some crazy Bible thumper, but i digress).
She, Briston, screwed up! But if we keep holding against her, what kind of people are we? We screw up too – ‘liberals’ and ‘conservatives’. Allen screwed up by making this comment, but let’s move on at some point, like the liberal website tries to tell us. If anyone uses Briston’s mistake as a weapon against McCain and Palin, they’re idiots and need to sit a little longer on the toilet to drop out all that liberal, double-sided crap.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Alan, I guess you follow the rule “i”ll do as I want”.
You are still rotten and should be penalized. You don’t target Chelsa and you don’t target Bristol. They are out of your league……You are not helping, you are making things worse. Give us a break and call in sick for the next 50 years so we don’t ever have to look of hear from you again…….
September 1st, 2008 at 5:08 pm
to answer your question: if Chelsea had become pregnant as a teen, like every mother anywhere I would have regretted her age, but would NEVER made it a political issue—-and I’m a Republican woman. You and other libs are turning off American women, I’m sorry it’s at the expense of a young woman who can’t defend herself.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Jim, the apparent lies are more complex for you cause you can’t accept the truth. I don’t for a second believe you were a Palin supporter who then goes on to allege she’s lying. You’re a dem fool trying to spin, the clue being how “sad” this nation has become, a typical lib word. Leave it to the pros like Alan, he’s soo much better at it.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Let me get this right. The Repub’s say this issue is a non-issue. Wishful thinking! I will assume this evening and tomorrow’s roster of right wingers will state that teen pregnancy is quite alright as long as the parents have money to provide the teens involved with shelter, food, clothing and a continued education. Any and all of their analogies will not smoothe over this issue. Teen pregnancy is a big issue in this country and leads to poverty in many cases. I don’t care if the family is rich or poor – teen pregnancy and young love to marriage usually does not lead to a happily ever after scenario.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:16 pm
I’ll answer your question. If Chelsea had had an unwed pregnancy at 17, I wouldn’t have said a damn word. I’m a Republican and, while I opposed President Clinton, I don’t attack his children…..until they get to be 21 and can go out and make their own stupid political statements. If I heard another Republican make such an egregious statement, I’d tell him publicly to leave children out of things. The Democrat Party doesn’t seem to have any control over their mad dogs.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I’m not attacking Bristol. I blame her parents. I blame them for putting this poor girl in this position. As far as the abortion. I agree with the parents. I don’t believe in abortion unless it under extreme cases.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:21 pm
so funny, I read all these posts. The liberals are the ones saying “she’s a slut”, “her mother’s selfish”, etc. But, isn’t it the far FAR left, you know, the people who support Obama, who encourage free sex, hand out condoms in grade school and jr. high, and support any kind of abortion, even if it’s just for convenience? Now, when their ideals and their “free sex” mentality, a product of the 60’s, plays out in the life of Bristol, the daughter of McCains VP pick, all of the moderate to right are horrible.
Thus another day in the mind of a liberal. Force their crap down the throats of America, and when it suits them, call issues like Bristol’s pregnancy a result of the “archaic” values of everyone else. Another reason I WILL NOT vote for Obama, and I advise all Americans who care about reality to do likewise.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:21 pm
I wonder how this young man and his family will feel about the media attention? Is it fair to them?
September 1st, 2008 at 5:25 pm
If my memory serves me correctly…..it wasn’t too long ago that Jenna Bush put out a book about abstinence and safe sex.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Bristol Palin is young and decency demands that she be allowed some privacy in this matter… That said, her mother’s well publicised position on pregnancy and abortion and the fact that she could very well be in a position should McCain win…. to influence policy on these or similar issues makes this a legitimate news story…
Kudos to Obama for having the integrity to do what most republicans would not in telling the press to lay off this issue.
One wonders what the reaction from James Dobson and the republicans would have been if this had happened to the daughter of some democrat… No doubt the self righteous indignation would have been sky high… the hypocrisy is stupefying !!!
September 1st, 2008 at 5:36 pm
C’mon, y’all! Get off Alan’s case, already! He’s doing the best he can, you know, since his hero has always been Georgy Porgy… (”When the boys came out to play,
Georgy Porgy ran away.”)
Go ahead, Alan, keep on picking on young girls and such. Suits you.
Now, the topic of teen pregnancy in general and its relation to morality? Wikipedia (a “source” that needs frequent fact checking, but sometimes, as with the below citation, does have useful info) points out:
Teenage pregnancies aren’t as common in Alaska as a whole as here in America’s Third World County *sigh*, but, thankfully, most references indicate that, like Gov. Palin’s daughter, more pregnant teenage young women in Alaska do not choose the more typical selfish Blue Stater option of killing their babies (after all, it’s just “tissue” that coincidentally contains human DNA, right, Alan? Kind of like you were once just “tissue” with human DNA).
BTW, as to the derisive comments about “abstinence” above, I asked another attractive 27-year-old young woman (I’m in an unique position of knowing more than a few such young people) how her sexual abstinence program was working for her, recently (unrelated to the Palin events), and she reported, “Quite well.” (Short form–long discussion.)
Folks who understand neither statistics nor sociology and have no experience with the long term effects of licentiousness like to cite individual cases of failures of abstinence as “proof” of the idea’s “failure”. Laughably (and sadly), all such people do is show that they can neither reason nor make a cogent argument. Those who accept such arguments blindly make the best argument for “retroactive abortion” I can imagine, though (still not a convincing argument, but the best one available).
This incident and the Palin’s handling of it both go a lon g way toward convincing me that Governor Palin and “First Dude” Todd are two of the rare adults on the political landscape today. Nice going! I’d be happy to set places at the dinner table for the Palins to come to supper. Folks like Colmes? Well, I’d be happy to have him come, but he’d not be happy to stay long, I’m absolutely sure…
September 1st, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Oh, dear. It seems the Abstinence-Only party has an illegitimate bun in the oven. How… um… what’s the word… ironic.
This girls’ mother, the potential president of the U.S., refuses to accept any method of birth control other than abstinence or the rhythm method.
Yes .. ironic is it that they cite privacy as the reason they are not giving out the following information: the man’s age, his last name, and the way he and the daughter know each other. Does this woman not understand how Roe V. Wade and the right to privacy work? Her daughter will have no right to privacy in her next election, if she works to overturn it.
One wonders if Gov, Palin couldn’t persuade her daughter to practise abstinence, how is she going to persuade Vladimir Putin not to invade the Ukraine.
The republican catch phrase for the convention should read “Hypocracy First” rather than “America First”.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:40 pm
If Chelsea would have been pregnant at age 17, I would have been supportive and prouud of her decision (?) to keep her baby. However, you have to believe that she was raised with the idea that abortion is the way to go.
There are only 2 choices: Pro-life or pro-death.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:45 pm
You infer that had Chelsea Clinton been pregnant during the first Clinton campaign, that Republicans and/or conservatives would have trashed Clinton. Possibly. Certainly you would not compare Clinton and his bimbo eruption squad with Sarah Palin. There would be reason to assume a dysfunctional marriage.
Would the Republicans and or conservatives have trashed Chelsea? Without question if she proudly led the MSM to an abortion clinic while she erased her “mistake.” But suppose the Clintons had handled it like the Palins and asked for family respect and privacy? I believe they would have been respected.
But, like the weedhead above who says he would have sex with the Palin daughter, I am sure someone would remark on Chelsea’s unfortunate visage.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:48 pm
I would venture to say that many people who contributed to the 6 million pool are going to be very angry that they were duped. Wolves in sheeps clothing…
September 1st, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Jeez, Alan! Stop typing, slide your chair back, stand up, put some pants on, and and start getting ready for your nightly ass-whipping on H&C. Haven’t you disgraced yourself enough today? I hope Hannity starts off with “How was your day, Alan?”
September 1st, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Chuck Schumer called Palin’s appointment a “Hail Mary Pass”.
Looks like the boyfriend was practicing “Hail Mary Contraception”.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:09 pm
No, Grandmother @5.45pm. There are other choices.
There is the choice to Keep your Panties On. There is the choice to Practice Contraception. There is the choice to put the Baby Up for Adoption. There is the choice to Keep the Baby and Raise it as a Single Mother, without ruining the lives of both Mother and Father in a Shot-Gun Loveless Marriage.
Then again, Conservatives place much emphasis on Getting Married but conveniently ignore ALL of the Commandments about Ending Marriage. Author of the Defense of Marriage Act Bob Barr is now on, what, his 4th or 5th Marriage? I’m sure he is warming up for Number 6 as we speak. Perhaps he could marry Bristol. That would really liven up Election Night 2008.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:22 pm
“But can you imagine what the reaction would have been from the right if a 17-year-old Chelsea had been pregnant?”
………………………………….
Right wing hypocrisy REALLY knows no bounds.
They are like the little kid whose mom tells him to put the milk away:
“I did.”
“No you didn’t…it’s still sitting right where you left it.”
“I put it away.”
“Then how is it STILL sitting there? Did aliens break into house, while you were sitting there, and take it out?”
“I don’t know, but, I put it away.”
They count on that your getting tired and bored, and forgetting about it.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:23 pm
You infer that had Chelsea Clinton been pregnant during the first Clinton campaign, that Republicans and/or conservatives would have trashed Clinton.
…………………………………..
They trashed the Clintons for EVERYTHING!!
They built careers out of trashing the Clintons!
Everything from rapist, drug runner, gun runner, lesbians, crack pipes on the whitehouse Christmas tree….you name it, they made it up about the Clintons.
If Chelsea got pregnant, they would have blamed her parents, AND, liberalism.
They HATE that Chelsea turned out so well, I guess that’s why McCain had to make the disgusting joke about her and Hillary!
PLEASE!
Do you think we just fell off the turnip truck?
September 1st, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Hey Alan I am a christian but also a Independant voter,I had my first child when I was 18. This elistist petulance your side has for the working class is disgusting! Your side of the isle is acting worse than the evangelicals over this stuff. Step down off of your high horse you are making me sick right now.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:46 pm
You do not have to answer to anyone except God and I’m sure God will understand that you believe aborting a baby is less of a sin than having one.
I am glad she is having the baby, I’m sure this baby will be loved. I’m sure her Mother is right that her childhood will be cut short, but there will be lots of blessing that come with the responcibility.
You, Alan Colms are a bitter person, and bringing Chelsea into the arguement was asking for trouble. What does she have to do with it and how do you know that she wasn’t pregnant at seventeen?
You should be off the air, Imus has nothing on you. Instead insulting Black females you insulted all females.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Hey Gina,
It’s mutual!
I am an AGNOSTIC but also a DEMOCRATIC voter,I had my first child when I was 29. This elistist petulance RIGHT has for the working class is disgusting! YOUR side of the isle is acting worse than the RADICAL MUSLIMS over this stuff. Step down off of your high horse you are making me sick right now.

Tim in NH -
It’s only being reported now because nobody knew who Sarah Palin was a week ago – including McCain!
September 1st, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Alan,
My, my. First you pick on Gov Palin, then Cindy McCain, now the 17 daughter of Gov Palin. What is next, the McCain’s adopted daughter? Oh..I don’t think you would go there…since she is African American?? Or would you Alan??? What kind of relationship did you have with your mother?? Why do you find delight in picking on women???
As a person in the medical field I do have my asumptions why you do what you do. But my polite upbringing causes me to keep that asumptions to myself.
As one of your fellow liberals said “We (liberals) need to just shut up!!
September 1st, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Oh please, now do you really expect us to believe that had Chelsea Clinton gotten pregnant as an unwed teenager that none of you Clinton-bashing Republicans would have said one nasty word about it?
Had that happened, even today you “ever so loving and non-judgmental Christians” would still be calling her some little whore. Even if she chose to keep the baby, you wouldn’t have cared less that she made the “loving decision” to not abort. It wouldn’t have mattered, in your mind she’d be nothing but a whore.
But it’s a mute point. Chelsea has turned out to be a bright, compassionate young lady.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:30 pm
I kind of have a feeling poor Bristol was TOLD she was marrying “Levi”.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:34 pm
you know – liberals always attack – always have a “point to make” when it comes to Christians, conservatives and people with a higher set of moral or ethical (or political) standards than “kill ‘em if you don’t want ‘em”, or “since they’re going to have sex…”
I don’t being called a hypocrite – and i doubt most down-to-earth Christians mind it either. But what bothers me is the idea that you people don’t think you are as well. Just as much as everyone else in this world, the liberal-minded and the Obama supporters are hypocrites too. You call the politically moderate and conservative, not to mention the Christian community, self-righteous…fine. But don’t you see? For you to call some other group of people hypocrites and self-righteous means that you are calling yourselves the very same things! You can’t stand on a soap-box and do anything else but be hypocritical and self-righteous.
My suggestion is, stop trying to be one-sided on everything and be human beings. Look at things with some bit of reason or common sense. Ask yourself why others who don’t share your thoughts believe what they believe. Do some research and ask the tough questions. At the very least, you’ll appreciate the opposing views, if not discover some merit in them. I have a very close family member who had an abortion, so I directly experienced both the pre-abortion thinking and the post-abortion fallout. And for the past 20 years I have not wavered in my pro-life approach. And I believe that I have enough experience to stand on that. I have also directly experienced a pre-martial, teenage pregnancy, and been personally influenced by it. I know that the persons involved are still sorry for what they did, and would never encourage anyone to do it. I also know that they, like me, know that teaching abstinence is the BEST way. Education is ALWAYS better than compromise.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Danielle,
Chelsea has turned out to be even more. She has her Dad’s deft touch with folks, combined with her Mother’s discipline. A killer combo.
In years to come, Chelsea could be Governor of New York or CEO of Paramount Pictures or whatever she wants. Meanwhile, Bristol will be standing at the kitchen sink. Staring out the window. Dirty dishes piled high and the screams of 8 children filling the Double-Wide. A 350 pound bear-stained Levi sprawled on the couch. And she says to herself “What in Hell was I thinkin’?”
September 1st, 2008 at 7:53 pm
But, like contraception, education is no guarantee either. Those being educated will finally need to make the right decisions with regard to the education they received. I will say that those who do the right things will feel better about themselves, and because they avoided a compromise that could kill them, they’ll be able to face a future filled with hope, joy and a sense of pride, knowing that they did the right things. I wish I could look back at my life and say that I did the right things, but to this day I still face the consequences of my past. So here I stand, telling you, let’s not teach our children that it’s ok to compromise on things such as sex, abortion, and the like. That may not be the “liberal” way, but it’s the right way, and the best way. And if our children do screw up, let’s love them and support them in any way we can, for to do any less is inhuman. To use something like this situation for political reasons is evil.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:53 pm
The Veep must be proud of her little angel ?
how many kids do you want alan???
September 1st, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Republicans play the nasty/hate game better than anyone. Anything that they see as remotely negative, coming from Democrats is attacked as nasty and hateful. They would have been all over it if, like you said, it had been Chelsea who was pregnant. I admire Obama for not wanting to play their kind of politics but I also worry that if you don’t play their game that you might lose.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Had it been Chelsea who was pregnant we would have never known it because she would have killed the child. Simple as that.
Those calling this kid a slut and her mother a slut maybe should think about Obama’s mama…was she a slut, too?
September 1st, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Epiphany -
I agree with both of your comments regarding Abstinence Only Programs and Palin being selfish regarding her family obligations.
Palin vehemently opposes any type of sex education in schools, supporting “Abstinence Only Programs”. While I can’t say for certain why she feels this way, I am assuming that her views are based on the fact that “good parenting is enough” and that if kids are raised as they should be – then there would be no need for sex education or contraception. I will give Palin the benefit of the doubt and assume that she and her husband did raise their children with these values. But at the very least, this proves that no matter how good the parenting is that “Abstinence Only Programs” do not work. Although I support Bristol for choosing to keep the baby, I am sure she is not trilled to find herself in this situation at the age of 17. Had she been exposed to sex education, perhaps she wouldn’t be in this situation.
Even as a liberal woman who certainly supports women balancing work and motherhood; this situation is to the extreme based on her current family dynamics and the responsibilities of potentially becoming the Vice President of the United States. This woman has five children, including a son that will soon be deployed to Iraq, an unwed pregnant teenage daughter – who will certainly require her support, and most importantly a 5 month old baby with special needs. I have worked with disabled individuals for over 15 years; I can’t even begin to tell you how much time, support and care parents must (and should) devote to a special needs child. I admire Palin for making the decision to have this child; but along with that decision comes the responsibility and dedication this child deserves. There is no way she can do all of this as the Vice President of the United States; it’s very selfish for her to even consider it. We’re not talking about being the Gov. of Alaska, a doctor, a lawyer – we’re talking about the Vice President of the United States.
I have a problem with Palin’s priorities – particularly since she claims to be a conservative pushing the family values agenda. There are many women much less conservative then Palin (including myself) that would never even think of compromising their family in her situation.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:48 pm
…Or a 17 year old mother of Barack Obama? No one on the right has made an issue out of that. Or that Barack was sent to live with his grandma…. a grandma, who maybe should have stayed home to raise Barack instead of climbing the corporate ladder at the bank she worked at. Or let’s take a deep look into the mistakes Barack Obama’s grandmother made in raising her mother, who birthed Barack?
Maybe we should start taking a hard look at Barack’s children? What kind of grades do they get? Do they have any behavior problems in school? Do they speak out of turn.. pass notes..turn their homework in on time? How about Michelle Obama’s prenatal care.. was she careful?
And of Joe Biden – - should he have relinquished his Senate seat when his wife died? Raising two boys alone is hard work and requires a lot of attention, you know. Was he selfish in not stepping down? Should he have stayed home and cared for those boys instead of selfishly pursuing his career?
Good grief people – can we look at the actual issues now and stop attacking Palin’s family?
I love the nuance here than McCain didn’t know and only announced the pregnancy for political gain. Ya know, the pregnancy would not have to have been announced at all (at least not so soon) if your liberal friends at the Daily Kos didn’t run with that ridiculous story about who the real mother of Trig Palin is. Sheesh!
September 1st, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Family values.
Shotgun marriage!!
Shotgun marriage!!
September 1st, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Trace~ Just because someone’s daughter gets pregnant doesn’t mean she put her kids a “distant second” as you put it. Did Obama’s grandmother put his Mother a distant second????? Is she a lousy mom?
September 1st, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Also Trace, could you help me be an smart liberal??? Cause I is just a dumb Republican.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Bullwinkle~ Controlling some one’s life and being a hypocrite, just like so many of your liberal friends. Conserve energy, use less gas and on and on, while they’re flying around on jets. That’s okay though isn’t it.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Hey Bullwinkle,
How many babies have you had? I’ve had 5, all natural. No drugs, no epidural nothing. So yes, it can be done. My water broke 10 hours before I finally delivered. Just because your water breaks doesn’t mean you begin active labor right away. But of course that doesn’t matter to you liberals who’d like nothing more than to paint her as an irresponsible parent.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:25 pm
I’m just sorry her name is Bristol. Is that because Palin wanted to work for ESPN which is based in Bristol, CT? I hope not…
September 1st, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Gayle, yes, you are dumb. Glad you realize it. You want to become a smart liberal? Let’s begin with you becoming smart first. The liberal stuff will simply follow.
Let’s start with a simple lesson. Conservatives want to control everyone’s life as much as possible. This is against their ’small government’ platform, but that’s just the first instance of their hypocrisy. How do they want to control people’s lives?
- Control a woman’s right to choose
- Control a gay person’s right to marriage
- Control other countries e.g. whipping some democracy on Iraqis (who never asked for it in the first place)
- Controlling scientific fact by editing out portions that don’t agree with their Christian ideals
- Letting fanatic Christians post the Ten Commandments in public places as if they speak for everyone
I could go on but won’t. These fools actually believe that they “know” what God thinks and wants us to do. The fact is Gayle, they wouldn’t know God if He bit them on the ass and don’t really have a clue about God at all. They just like to act as if they do.
Liberals on the other hand tend to allow people to choose.
- A woman can choose to have an abortion or not
- A gay person can choose to be married or not
- A foreign country can choose its government, we don’t assume that our method of government or belief is right for everyone
- Allow science to research and publish at will, we are not threatened by whatever they may find
- We do NOT allow certain secular groups to impose their beliefs on others, so no Ten Commandments anywhere except in church
IOW, we give people their freedom and allow them to express it as they wish.
Absorb this Gayle, it is your first step into the light.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Laura Ingraham tonight on Bill O’Reilly’s Show. Praising the Palin family for “choosing” to have this baby.
Isn’t that what we Liberals want? The Choice.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Isn’t that what the writers of the Bill Of Rights want too?
Yes!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Bullwinkle,
If you are so enlightened and libs give us freedom to express things as we wish, why do you guys break out all of the words of love against people with opposing views?
September 1st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Alan, you are pathetic !!
It’s time for Fox News to cut you free and save their Great reputation…

“But can you imagine what the reaction would have been from the right if a 17-year-old Chelsea had been pregnant?”
Alan, Is this your stock in trade Justification for being vile each and every time? Do not forget Senator obamas own mother went through this at almost the exact same age.
Don’t you understand that each time you do something like this, and justify it this way you undermine your point? You have now lowered yourself to fight in the way that disgusted you in the first place…. Which makes you a Fool, a coward and mostly a hypocrite.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Alan, There would have been Zero from the right if Chelsea had been pregnant at 17. Remember, she was OFF LIMITS!
As should the family of Governor Palin.
You just don’t get it do you?

Why Bristol Palin Matters
By mcc – September 1, 2008, 5:38PM
I’ve seen suggestions that the just-revealed pregnancy of Sarah Palin’s daughter doesn’t matter. I think it does. This is why:
Q: Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?
[Sarah Palin]: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support.
The thing that’s important about Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy is not that a 16-17 year old got pregnant out of wedlock and the family chose to support it. If that’s their choice, that’s their choice. The thing that’s important is that Palin wants to create a situation that will tend to leave everyone else’s 16-17 year olds pregnant as well, with choice nowhere in the equation.
Palin wants to prevent teenagers from learning what they need to know about sex, and instead replace that teaching with filler that moralizes and preaches but doesn’t do anything. She wants to prevent abortions even in cases of rape or incest. She wanted to amend the Alaskan state constitution to require parental consent for teen abortions, ensuring that the choice in cases like Bristol Palin’s will be made by the mother’s parents and not the mother. She was put on the Republican VP ticket more or less explicitly as a representative of the American evangelical subculture which believes all these things and wants to write them into our laws.
The Bristol Palin situation matters because of what it tells us about why Sarah Palin, and the subculture she represents, is doing all these things.
A drive-by commenter at 538 says:
Sarah and Todd Palin have issued the following statement: “We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby…”
Interesting. I see that this was Bristol’s DECISION and they are proud of her DECISION. They are glad that she exercised her CHOICE.
They are in deed (if not in word) pro-choice.
A thread-starter at FreeRepublic says this:
Mary, Unwed Mother of Jesus, Did Not Abort the Baby
Bible ^ | 1 AD | Bible
Posted on 09/01/2008 12:03:15 PM PDT by xzins
Mary, unwed mother, did not abort the baby Jesus.
She did the right thing.
Joseph had his concerns, but he came around when God spoke to his heart about what he really believed.
Sarah Palin says she’s “proud”.
What we see here is the intellectual bankruptcy of the “pro-life”, anti-contraception, anti-sexual-freedom crowd: that they don’t and probably never did care about the sex, that they don’t care so much about marriage as long as you get that in place retroactively, that their morality begins and ends with creating babies. This is what the “culture of life” is about, where its endpoint goes: Teen pregnancy isn’t a bad thing or something to be concerned about, it’s essentially neutral. The only point at which teen pregnancy becomes a practical or moral problem is if you try to prevent it.

Just like the other left leaning hate blogs you allow your posters to insult Americans. The following post from above just shows the bigoted judgmental characteristics of so called liberals. Use of the term “trailer trash” is offensive and just shows the small mindedness of a lib snob. No wonder the liberal media is so poorly thought of and continually fails.
I really do think you need to explain yourself on that “pre-natal” blog post. It’s out anyway and you look like a fool so why not get a backbone and admit it was an error on your part?

What a great Mom. She has a 17 year old pregnant daughter and a newly born special needs baby and instead of devoting her time to them, because they are BOTH going to need it desperately, she thinks ambition first instead. It’s one thing to be governor of Alaska, it’s quite another thing to join a 24/7 national campaign and possibly become vice president of the United States.

I think that this whole situation shows what being so adamant about super conservative family values as a parent does for your family. Your children are much more likely to want to rebel and make bad decisions just to stick it to their parents. I see this type of thing every day. I’m not saying that parents shouldn’t teach their kids values. Quite the opposite, it’s very important. But it’s also important to give kids their space and be reasonable.

Family values.
Shotgun marriage!!
Shotgun marriage!!

I was thinking the same thing. You have to think her parents had a BIG say in that, and I don’t think it’s right for her to be rushing into a marriage at 17.
I’m about the same age as her and I can’t imagine getting married at this point in my life.

Alan, that rash and itch you have been fighting, and the acne on your face. There is no cure for it; it’s called scales. All snakes have them.
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:18 am
Alan, I want to thank you, and the rest of your kind, for your disgusting treatment of Bristol. As a result of the Obama-nuts liberal diarrhea of the mouth, my liberal-leaning wife has decided to vote McCain.
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:22 am
Obama was so quick to say that candidate’s families are off limits. However, we all remember 4 years ago, when BOTH Kerry and Edwards brought up Mary Cheney, V-P Dick Cheney’s lesbian daughter, during the debates. Mary Cheney had NOTHING to do with the election, but the disgusting democratic ticket brought her in anyway. Mr. Cheney showed true class, and a father’s love, when responding to these pathetic statements. Candidate’s families were fair game then, as far as democrats were concerned, and it is VERY clear they are STILL fair game, if it gets them a single vote…even if the object of their attack is a teenager.
Just when you thought democrats couldn’t sink any lower, they surprise you every time!!!!
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:33 am
All of this “she preaches abstinence and her 17 yo daughter is pregnant” garbage nauseates me. Sex education and the government dispensation of contraceptives via the school system surely has not DEcreased the number of teen pregnancies. No, the numbers have risen.

Gayle, it is because those of a conservative bent are trying to shut down our right to choose.

I have to stop and say one more thing since I am new here …congratulations Alan.
I really don’t watch your show on Fox because after all, it’s Fox. ’nuff said.
But one night I decided to drop in since I thought it might be somewhat balanced with you & Hannity.
Well, that was the show where the discussion swirled around Edwards’ affair. Hannity was an obnoxious boob and dominated the discussions. You weren’t even on camera.
But when it was your turn, you switched the tables on him and talked about how McCain had left his wife, riddled with cancer, to go after Cindy…how he loved hot women and his wife had become fatter with the disease. He jettisoned her faster than he got out of any of the 5 fighters he crashed.
The other Republican talking head pretended you hadn’t spoken, but Hannity’s defense was pathetic, defending McCain’s adulterous actions because he had been a POW.
How about the 5 years this woman waited for him, not sure if he was alive or in what shape he’d be in if he ever returned? Did that count for anything in McCain’s view of things? Guess not.
Anyway, bravo Alan for putting Hannity in an untenable situation which he still (stupidly) insisted on supporting. Good work.

CEO Obama: Republicans claim that Governor Palin is a proven manager – of a state with a population of 683,000 – 80,000 less than that of San Francisco. Maybe the 21 months she’s been in office make her a proven manager, but during that same period, Barack Obama has managed one of the most successful political campaigns in American history: a campaign that just conducted the most effective Democratic Convention ever, ending with an acceptance speech in front of 84,000 people and watched by more than 40 million Americans.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:27 am
Best Joke: We liked this analysis of Republican leaders: “George H.W. Bush was born on third base and thought he’d hit a triple. George W. Bush was born on third base and promptly stole second. John McCain was born on second base and married third base.”
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:28 am
Alan: You not only mentioned but highlighted the word “choice” in your critique of the posted statement and assumed that the word “choice” was related to abortion. I would politely submit that those of us who firmly believe in pro life, would consider other “choices”. In order to be fair and balanced, you should ask her, prior to assuming. Probably, the “choices” involved were: future planning, whether or not to raise the child alone, marry the father, continue her education, be a stay at home mom…. etc. I trust your fairness and hope that you clarify this issue and act accordingly! BTW: I enjoy your show on the Internet. I teach in Korea.

The invisible force at play:
3 of my so-called undecided mates paid me a visit last night and they were all surprised to learn that I’ve switched allegiance from republican to democrat, considering that I am fifth generation conservative and they demanded the reason. My answer was simple really and it went like this.
Obama was the most unlikeliest candidate in this election to be the nominee of his party and also the front runner in the election against a POW media favourite like John McCain. Why was this? I had noticed a reoccurring pattern. he was continually surpassing all expectations of his candidacy and the bias media wasn’t exactly on his side, even though he was getting the vast amount of coverage. He had major setbacks (rev wright..rezko etc)which would have doomed many an opponents campaign, but not his. Why was this? He had become a force beyond the control of government and continually confounds the media, so much so that they in their own interest have manufactured the myth that this race is close. Karl Rove and John McCain knows this is not the case and if the MSM was honest to the American people and told them that in fact Obama leads by over 57% by conservative estimates. (data taken by European political scientist) Why do you think all the major leaders of the world was falling over backwards to be seen with Obama, even though ideologically most did not agree with his policy’s. Lets look at Russia, recently Putin has been going on major TV networks around the world highlighting the truth that the war in Georgia was orchestrated by Bush to help McCain win the US election. Did you know that if Obama becomes president, Russia leaves Georgia, normal relations re start. Now I know the reasons as to why his become the phenomenon he is, but I’ve decided not to tell, as during my studies of him, I have decided to join the most successful political campaign in American history. Here’s a clue, when Obama said in his historic speech, that its not about him, its about you, he truly means it. At his acceptance speech in Invesco park, sitting in front seats were political leaders from all round the world why? This political masterpiece of a campaign could in actual fact work for any government and with any leader, if certain political conditions were met. Obama’s campaign has re written all political science theory’s including the republicans. There have been ample examples of where JM campaign has copied Obama’s and many occasions where Bush has implemented his policy’s. Fact.. The only way JM thinks he can win is by going negative and by overtly playing the infamous race card. But do you know that it wont work, can’t work.. Listen if you don’t believe me..Sean Hannity and others of the likes, now has result to slandering and race baiting and messaging of opinion polls to delude the public. Now you might say I’ve been bowled over by hype and soaring rhetoric, but I have not, I have looked at his policy’s and I can truly say that even if he only implemented half of his proposals, America would still be better off. I am a patriot and I would put my country before any party and as such I can only ever vote for Obama. My 3 friends have all been converted.
Why did JM make such a desperate pick of palin if the race is close? Why is Karl Rove asking for the help of 527’s. Why is the media giving JM a pass in this election, considering that he is making gaffes only a daily basis and MSM is choosing not to report it? This is not about race, party, class, its about change which appeals to all.. John McCain could stop a campaign, but not a movement.

I soooooo love this.
How much you wanna bet the girl had no intention of marrying the guy who knocked her up until Mommie got choosen by Mr Mac.
Now thanks to Mommie, she has got to marry some guy when she’s 17 just to make all you those gun luvin, gay hatin, god sucker guys and gurls happy.
She’s gonna be a Democrat until the day she dies!

Alan,
I thought you leaned by the nasty remark…oops I mean the nasty insinuation you made about Bristol. Your making this worst for Obama. I’m a loyal democrat and believe you should drop this attack on the Palin family. This isn’t good for our party. People like you in liberaland are the ones causing all the problems. I’m a moderate democrat and at this point I’m looking at the McCain/Palin ticket.

September 2nd, 2008 at 7:24 am
Alan,
I would like to know who you think you are to pass judgement on the Palen family? You don’t know what went on with that young couple and what her family told her and didn’t tell her. I have a friend that has 2 boys and 2 girls in her family three of them got pregnant they were given all the choices a parent could give a child before and after pregnancy. So my question to you is have you ever heard of hormones at that young age?

September 2nd, 2008 at 7:45 am
Let’s see…Palin has close ties to a terrorist, having been in charge of spending $49 million of the terrorists foundation funds…she has a sister kept in a rundown, slum of a place…she is good friends with a convicted swindler who also financially benefited from her position in government…she was member of a church that taught hatred of blacks and America…and the Republicans have the gall to nominate her as VP? Wait…I did get this reversed. That’s an apt description of the Dem’s PRESIDENTIAL candidate. And what do they have to disqualify Palin…a 25 year-old DUI on her husband, a pregnant teen daughter, and the compassion and conviction (hard word for Dems to understand) to have her 5th child. Yes, I can see how the Dems are licking their lips in anticipation of all that baggage Palin has!

I am very disappointed in you, Alan. I actually enjoyed “Red, White, and Liberal” and considered your points, while vastly differnt than my core, valid.
Since then you have turned into a nasty libtard with all the implicit hypocrisy that moniker entails.
Take a few of your recent posts re: Palin and daughter and turn them around on Clinton/Obama. You’d be screaming to high heaven if conservatives attacked as you and your ilk have to date.
You’re morphed into nothing but a lib hack rather than a reasoned liberal.
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:15 am
Perry, love your brilliant reversal thing. Clever that.
I’m going to have a go too.
Let’s see, Obama is a member of one of those churches that say if people have babies out of wedlock then they are sinners and will burn for an eternity in the firey depths. Anyone who does that is bad, bad, bad and probably evil as well.
Oh whoops, then his daughter goes and does that exact same thing. Bet he feels real silly now being so high might and so down right hypocritical, don’t you think Perry?
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:51 am
I cannot believe some of the comments here, attacking a candidate through their 17 year old daughter. The daughter gets pregnant, so she is a bad mother? A 22 year old DWI conviction when the husband was 22 years old? How desperate is desperate. Please. Focus on the candidates. Ridiculous, ridiculous. I bet no one who posted these attacks ever raised an eyebrow when Obama admitted to using cocaine. Hypocrites, hypocrites.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:02 am
Why can’t Allan just admit that Gov. Palin scares him because the GOP 2nd is more qualified than the Dem. 1st. It’s sad how he has to go down this road because he can’t debate REAL issues.
Has anyone else noticed that the left keeps comparing Obama to Palin and not Obama to McCain? Makes you if they know they’ve already lost.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:08 am
JPW wrote…”Let’s see, Obama is a member of one of those churches that say if people have babies out of wedlock then they are sinners and will burn for an eternity in the firey depths. Anyone who does that is bad, bad, bad and probably evil as well.”
JPW…your theology is not right. Neither Obama nor Palin belong to churches that hold pregnancy out of wedlock results in a fiery death. They both belong to churches that teach grace through Christ. All are sinners saved by grace…even you should you put your faith in Christ.

………………………………………
Absolutely!
#1 Rev Wright is no where near as bad as the right wing preachers who hate America.
– Falwell and Robertson blaming America for 9/11
– Hagee calling Hitler the Hunter sent by God to return the Jews to Israel.
– From Frank Schaffer:
When Senator Obama’s preacher thundered about racism and injustice Obama suffered smear-by-association. But when my late father — Religious Right leader Francis Schaeffer — denounced America and even called for the violent overthrow of the US government, he was invited to lunch with presidents Ford, Reagan and Bush, Sr.
The ONLY difference between Rev Wright’s Comments and those of the right wing pastors is that Rev Wright is angry that the government uses it’s awesome power to, in his opinion, hurt the little people, and the right wing pastors are angry that the government does NOT use it’s awesome power to keep the little people, according to THEIR beliefs, in line.
If only because McCain wants the votes of their followers, I think that THEY have a lot more influence over him than Wright over Obama.
#2 Tony Rezko,
Obama bought land at fair market value, and was not implicated in ANYTHING….right wing smear.
#3 William Ayers,
Obama was EIGHT years old.
If you are concerned with ACTUAL terrorists, you might want to start with Saudi Prince Bandar, who Barbara Bush calls, “Bandar Bush, and The Bush family’s connections to the bin Ladin family, and the Bin Ladin Group.

President Bush’s grandfather was a director of a bank seized by the federal government because of its ties to a German industrialist who helped bankroll Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, government documents show.
Union Banking was seized by the government in October 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act .
Imagine if we had seen endless loops of that for the 04 election? Can’t be because this is a powerful, white, old moneyed family, can it?
Yeah, all these accusations of Obama are just desparate right wing smear and fear and PALE in comparison!
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:28 am
It’s incredible that the far left brings a 17-year old pregnant girl into the limelight…for what purpose. Meanwhile, John Edwards, a real candidate at one time, gets a free pass with his lying about an extra martial affair and probable child…Jesse Jackson gets a pass with children out of wedlock…Bill Clinton got a pass for oral sex in the White House with an intern…and the best you Dems can do is to take your best shot at a young girl who has NOTHING to do with this campaign. Very sad.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:29 am
Oldlefty…there you go again…partial truths.
One thing we agree on…Hagee is nuts!
Obama got a sweet deal on his land at $300,000 under as Rezko closed on land at the same time right next door. Coincidence?
So what if Obama was 8 at the time of the Ayers activities. Ayers has never repented and has lately stated that he was right and should have done more. Obama the man, not the 8 year old, befriended Ayers, served as chairman of his foundation, oversaw the distribution of $49 million (the recipients of those grants is currently being researched), and started his political campaign in the living room of this terrorist.

I also feel she should step down – with a special needs kid and pregnant daughter what type of VP would she make- how focused could she be? What type of education does she have? we hear she met her husband in Highschool? so what formal education? I hold people in public office above others – and, no I don’t want my kids to look up at her- she’s trash. She is trailer trash with a position. She should step down and let someone that other people can look up to ( Kay Baily or Condi Rice) take the VP spot. If she were a good mother she would take care of her family better – what next she’s VP and traveling while nannies let her other girls get pregnant. I am a single divorced mom of 2, working and yes its hard, really – she is not a super woman – she needs put home first, Stay in Alaska and spare your party the embarrassment. Why expose your family for your own career elevation.
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:27 am
Perry, Palin dragged her family on the stage- she should have thought it out before accepting the VP spot. She is so self absorbed, tossong the baby with downs syndrom out there. She could have simply said no. No I will not subject my family to this circus just to get more power.
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:35 am
Betterthanthat…
You sound a bit angry. Who cares for the Obama children when both parents are at work…a nanny?
Why call her trailer trash? You don’t even know her. What has she done to you to cause such harsh name calling?
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:37 am
I love how conservatives get so pissed when others challenge their moral superiority complex. This is an issue not because of her daughter but because of her. She has little experiance as a politician and claims her motherhood as part of her experiance resume. Now when it comes out that she has failed her state and daughter by not allowing conventional sex education in public schools (instead teaching abstenince only ed) this becomes and issue. An issue that calls into question her policies, and like cop-gate, her judgement and moral standing. Republicans just dont like it when the scandle is on the other foot (so to speak). And while this young woman should not be in the middle of this politcal fray, it is her mother who put her their, dont forget that. To naively think that this was not going to and should not be a issue in the media is rediculous. This is the reality of the world we live in, especially for politicians and she should have known that going into this situation. She should have turned down the offer for the VP position, but like most modern politicans, her vanity and need for power got held more weight than that good of her family. If you are looking for someone to blam for this story being in the news, dont get angry at blogs or news casters, blam her mother for putting her in that position.
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:42 am
So if it were her husband running for VP would this even me an issue?? With a Downs Syndrome baby and his teenage daughter being pg how can he focus?? OH WAIT!!! This would not even be an issue so that question would have never come up!!!! So why is it coming up with Sarah??? Is it because she is a woman??? Of course it is!!! How could you call her trash?? What reason would you have for saying that??? Sarah Palin received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho, where she also minored in political science. Is that what you consider trash??? She is in no way “exposing” her family?? Why are people trying to make a big deal about her daughter being pg?? There are alot of teens out there that get pregnant! She is doing the right thing AND has the support of her parents and she is getting married!! So please tell me what is wrong with this picture?? OH wait NOTHING!!!! It is not like she got pregnant and is aborting the baby or not getting married!!
So please Alan grow up and leave the kids out of this!!! There is no reason to even bring her into this!!! She is not running for VP her mother is!!!
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:46 am
Lets think about it – Both mother and daughter were pregnant at the same time? Sounds like a TV show – Jerry Springer? Truth hurts – maybe she should think about tieing the tubes, or birth control? And I’m Catholic – YES!
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:49 am
I have kids and yes they should be educated in school and at home – as matter of fact my 3rd grader goes to a babptist school thats 17k a year. So kiss my ___
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:51 am
Thanks for the update on her education. I did ask about it? but anywho – I would respect her more if she stepped aside. Really – I’m explaining why McCain picked trailer trash to my 3rd grader. Why should I bother. Its looking like Britney Spears, first kids look up to her than…you know the rest. Really – not worth the hassel, I’m embarassed for her. Let the kids alone yes – but get your dumb A– out of the spot light.

You make no sense, its not “Jerry Springer” to have both be pregnant. Why should she think about tieing tubes, or birth control? Is there something wrong with having 5 children? I do not want to have 5 kids, but if she does that’s her business.

BETTERTHANTHAT.
SO if your children do get pregnant early…does that make you trailer trash and a poor mother as well?
Was Obama’s mother trailer trash for getting pregnant out of wedlock?
Be consistent in your argument.

well yes – his mother was trailer trash too.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:23 pm
yes – I would be a bad mother for not being there as much as possible, also I’m the one who guide her no to make stupid mistakes – if I’m home with her as often as I am. How can she get pregnant if she is always supervised? huh

you failed to comment … if your daughter gets pregnant early, does that also make you a bad mother and trailer trash?
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Betterthanthat…
You simply can NOT supervise your children ALL OF THE TIME. Just not going to happen. They get to a point when they make their own decisions, good and bad. You do your best to teach them the right way to live life and then trust them to do so. If your daughter does get pregnant early, it does NOT make you trailer trash or her anything less than a young lady who made a mistake.

God damn Perry,
You’re a busy little bee ain’t ya. Thanks for the invitation to put my faith in christ, who for the record seemed like a cool dude but I believe in human beings rather than the tooth fairy, santa claus and some old white guy sitting on a cloud in never never land.
A few facts for you to contemplate Perry.
There are approx 100 billion stars in our galaxy and 200 billion galaxies in the observable universe.
And you want me to believe that the inhabitants of an obscure planet circling an obscure star in an obscure galaxy just so happen to have a god that created all that. Bit arrogant, and just a tad deluded don’t you think Perry?
So thanks for the offer, but no. I live my life based on my own set of moral values, not some kiddy fairytale. But hey, I welcome you with open arms to the land of rational independent thinking, where you act with kindness and charity to your fellow human being because you are a human being too.
Think about it. It will change your life.
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Perry,
There you go again with that CONSERVATIVE brand of moral relativism.
-Rezko:
Obama bought a slice of Rezko-owned property next door to expand his yard. COMPLETELY LEGAL AND ABOVE-BOARD.
The only ‘issue’ was timing….Rezko was being investigated on other matters completely unrelated to Obama. The Senator has acknowledged “it was a BONE HEADED” thing to purchase the yard while Rezko was under a cloud.
Obama DID NOT BUY HIS CHICAGO HOUSE FROM REZKO. He bought it from a couple who called his “the best offer”http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=a_9sOM

You’re more concerned with this than the BILLIONS that Bush gave out to cronies in no bid contracts at cost plus, with NO accountability? Or the 8.8 Billion unaccounted for in Iraq…where auditors were unable to verify that the money was even spent for its intended purpose.
-Ayres??
REALLY??
But you are OK with the Bush family making their PERSONAL fortune with the Saudis who sponsor and support the VERY people who attacked us on 9/11, even as they are claiming to fight “terrorism”?
Getting their business associates from the Saudi and bin Ladin families out of the US after 9/11, when Americans were stranded…
You don’t question THEIR loyality??
And you want to point at Ayres??
Then I really have nothing to say

Bush and the Arabs…nope, I’m not cool with that. That’s why the sooner we get rid of Saudi oil the better.

JPW,
Your not nice are you? I guess thew truth hurts huh? Oh by the way I’m not a female.

JPW…”So thanks for the offer, but no. I live my life based on my own set of moral values, not some kiddy fairytale. But hey, I welcome you with open arms to the land of rational independent thinking, where you act with kindness and charity to your fellow human being because you are a human being too.”
JPW…read back through this and see the hate-filled speech against Palin by people that knew nothing about her last week but now seem to know everything, her thougths, motivations, etc…and you want me to join that group of independent thinking?

Betterthanthat says…Let’s see – do you have ovaries? then shut the F- up , you have no say so do you?
Beterthanthat…I really do believe that you are better than that…you have no idea if I am male or female. Seems you run out of facts soon and then resort to anger and cussing.
Why are you so angry with life?

I say the sooner we get off of ALL oil the better.
I’m not good with possibly doing irreparable enviromental damage, so they can just sell the oil overseas ANYWAY, and it’s just a cheap short term fix.

Leave it to Colmes to not even try to be “classy”. fox should fire his sorry rear end.

Perry,
really – think about it do you?
anyway, she’s no super woman and she will be stepping down soon…
NO ROLE model – I guess anyone can run? I can only hope she spares her kids and family from anymore pain.

Oh by the way if my kids get pregnant it would make me feel I was not a good parent, ( that would be my thoughts – what did I do wrong, why wasn’t I there…) I would accept it and let her choose what she wanted to do. It would be her decision, yes I would stand by her – but I would not run for VP.

Ok perry.. I bet you feel stupid now.. polls are now saying that Obama has passed the 50% threshold.. This is no close race.. even the right wing foxnews has admitted the same poll numbers.. The thing is, Europe’s top political scientist suggest the poll numbers are even wider..57% conservative estimate..there is a blogger in the US, that has actually predicted more accurate polls than all the so called established groups.. I will look him up.. and share the info.. you must feel as stupid as I imagine you to look.. And to all the doubters out there..look at my earlier posts…

Alan,
What appears to be fairly consistent throughout your Web comment sections, is that the majority of posters; whether liberal or conservative appear to have little respect for you. In fact it seems that really no one has much use for you.
Must be because you just generally suck.

You know, I usually quote Barry Goldwater’s statement to Bob Dole in the 1990s “Did you ever think that you and I would be considered liberal in our own party?”
But I think Goldwater had it all wrong– I think WE’re

Colme’s is a dirtbag, and that is an insult to dirtbags worldwide!

Jackie, i have my good days and my bad days just like everyone else, but i’m an okay guy and I apologize for my dumb remarks earlier.
I just got mad with everyone ganging up on Alan. I mean he has the balls to work for Fox and suffer that ranting dribbler Hannity spewing forth garbage day in day out, only to come here and get abuse.
i mean give the guy a break.

JPW,
It’s ok to have an opinion but don’t jam it down someone elses throat. The only thing that bothers me is Sarah Palin is running for VP not her 17 year old daughter. Whay attack that young girl? I think people need to take a step back and think of how many people they know that have gotten pregnant before they were married. Also Alan needs to talk to an obgyn about down syndrone it happens at conseption as far as I know water breaking would never cause it. I think we all had better take a step back and think about all of this and what we are saying for what politics? We are Americans first not republicans or democrats. As far as Alan goes he is a big boy and needs no protecting from anyone. Alan also needs to take a long look at what he is saying too. Have a nice day to you all!

I consider myself moderate, but when I was on the right, if Chelsea had been pregnant, I would have been so happy for her. Life is so precious- so much precious life has passed away. I would have been thrilled to see the baby pictures. I would have been happy for the baby because her family has bucks and her parents could offer wonderful opportunities. As far as how it affects my judgement of the parents of a child who has an out of wedlock child. What teenager listens to their parents. Especially when all of someone’s buddies (won’t mention any names) in Hollywood are marketing with billions of dollars how great it is to not wait.

Oh, gee, Alan. Well, we know that you could not be the father, because, from what we have seen, you are not “manly” enough to do the job.

From Trace
The proof is in her daughter’s stomach you stupid republicans.

Now if it were even possible to have a baby in the stomach – then Monica Lewinsky – would be the one to have one there.
Perhaps you need to rethink the stupid reference?
