GOP Poised To Use Palin Pregnancy For Political Gain
Word in St. Paul is that the big news will bolster Sarah Palin’s conservative credentials (as though she isn’t already the new national darling of the far-right).
The news that vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old daughter is pregnant came as a surprise to GOP convention delegates Monday, but they said it will boost the Alaska governor’s conservative credibility
Delegates are saying this only adds credibiliy to her pro-life agenda.
At the Republican convention, Fayetteville, Ga., delegate Lane Watts said…”It’s refreshing to hear she’s going to carry it to term. She’s following the example of her mother and walking the walk.”
So, is this what they’ve wanted all along? After all, we’re told McCain knew about the impending bundle of joy. Oh, really?

I’m happy that her daughter keeping the baby. However, I’m concerned with the over-sexualization, materialism, and pregnancy rates of our youth. I’d really like to hear Palin speak out about the importance of SAFE SEX. It’s time for conservatives to stop ignoring the importance of that issue. Teens come up pregnant in conservative families too, dammit! We have to do everything we can to educate our youth.
Have you all forgotten about the group of teens in MA who all decided to get pregnant this year?!
September 1st, 2008 at 8:16 pm
oh, Alan. You just can’t resist your snide remarks when even Obama is disgusted.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Was it ol ElRushbo who said that McCain would destroy the Republican/conservative party? This is one instance where I actually agree with him.

September 1st, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Wrong again, Alan. Of course this will increase the creds of the Palin family. Her daughter has decided to keep the child and raise it to be a loved human being. Of course that is difficult for someone like you to understand because you and your party would naturally take the easy way out and kill the child.
You are making this way too easy, Alan. Are you really this dumb?
September 1st, 2008 at 8:33 pm
and by “kossacks” i mean the regulars who are telling this kid to STFU already.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Alan, will you be carefully following the prenatal care of Bristol Palin? We need to make sure she follows correct prenatal care .. and who better to ensure that than the utterly qualified Alan Colmes?
September 1st, 2008 at 8:36 pm
At least mom and daughter can go to mommie and me together.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Sounds as though O’Reilly has some doubt about the evangelicals (the lesser knowns in society) being okay with this scenario.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:42 pm
this is so damned…
weird.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Listen I don’t give 2 flying f*cks what the GOP tries.. I know this original story now about how palin’s last child was in fact her daughters, was a typical rovian trick to distract the public and to shore up support amongst its base. Now fools like O’Reilly and his ass lick lackey Juan Williams trying to conjure sympathy for palin. Listen no matter how they try to spin it.. her last child’s is her daughters.. fact..My main gripe is that this woman is so fcuking loopy..listen.. she was a member of the Alaskan independence party..check for yourselves.. see the policy’s.. gripe 2.. is this the most qualified person in the whole united states..fcuk off is it..
I’ll make a prediction now..O’bama wins by a landslide.. even if the white un educated middle class.. trailer trash buy into this right wing stich up job..the rest of America wont.. John McCain should be fcuking arrested for this stunt..
September 1st, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Your plain and simple FEAR of this woman have got you libs frothing at the mouths, and running around in some kind of manic feeding frenzy. Real men and women don’t respond to a challenge this way, only scared and irrational little children do. You will lose in November because you disgust rational people with your irrational behaviors. You seem to have no sense of proportionality, no sense of knowing when to back off a losing proposition……much like spoiled brats in a toystore. “If I just scream and whine a little longer, they’ll give up and see it my way!” Sarah Palin is a class act, and looking at her only makes you feel the dirtier by comparison.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Oh really! And Obama had no idea Reverend Wright was like he is and in trun Reverend Wright did not know that Obama had such strong view about abortion.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:54 pm
What does Rev Wright have to do with the fact that a minor is pregnant and the GOP is trying to pass this off as a personal family matter? And trying to make political hay out of the fact the Palin family is pro-life? The GOP is the party of family values. Laura Ingraham spends hours and hours talking about the vile and filth on tv. However, she sure didn’t speak up tonight about the tragedy of teenage pregnancy or kids too young to be getting married.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Listen Alan..*im so pissed off*.. im an Independent, as such I have 3 questions that I believe all candidates must answer..
1) Do you believe a president must have and show a good temperament? and if so, would you allow all records on you to be fully disclosed to the American public?
2) A president at all times must show good judgement, have you always displayed this, give example.
3) I believe the president should be a man of honour, what’s your definition of honour? The candidate(s) that answers these simple questions truthfully, will get my vote.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Anita, you’re right about the “trajedy of teen pregnancy”! I think it was tragic that Obama’s mother got pregnant and gave birth to him out of wedlock!!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Who would have ever thought the party of Reagan would eventually make promiscuity a part of their party platform?
The Cons are starting to sound like free love hippies.
This is only more proof that you can never really “catch” a lunatic at anything. The lunatics can always find themselves a little wiggle room. Even if their logic means nothing to most of us, it’s apparently enough for them to say “WE WIN!! WE WIN!!”.
The Cons are lunatics.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Obama has spoken many times of the struggles he had growing up and has praised his grandparents for their love and support. BTW, I am not advocating abortion. I agree with the Palin’s in keeping the baby. The issue again is – TEEN PREGNANCY.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Anonymouse is so right!!! Promiscuity is such Democratic thing!!! Obama’s teenage mother must have been quite promiscuous, and a participqnt in bigamy too….
September 1st, 2008 at 9:11 pm
This is what I want to know who is going to come first the country or her family. I have 4 kids and don’t work and can’t always keep up. I also have a special need child, and they take a lot more time. Especially when they are toddlers. Sounds to me like her plate is overflowing already. I just whonder if she is really up to it. I think one bridge to no where is enough. Now do I really need to list the rest of the things out there she has going on? So what does happen if the vice president nominee gets arrested?
September 1st, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Bill Bennett – didn’t he write a book about virtues? However virtues became a private family matter.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Man, you guys can just taste the FEAR can’t you?
September 1st, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Ad Rem and Anita.. yeah I am fearful, I am a father of 3 kids. My oldest son has been fighting for this country in Iraq for the last 6months.. When the war was first started, me like others fell for the right wings media machine..(cnn, fauxnews).. Im not fcuking buying this. If John McCain wins, with his obvious display of senility and starts a war with Iran or worst russia.. would you sacrifice your child or loved one, just to satisfy his desire to lift his shame in vietnam, when he fully complied with the enemy.. His father never forgave him for that.. Listen this country has had eight years of fools running the country..why should we give the same fools 4 more..
September 1st, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Dear John,
For a “psychiatrist”, you sure have lousy grammar!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Lol could you imagine it..John McCain dies in first year in office.. palin takes over.. that means that the presidents got a whore of a daughter living in the white house.. lol.. and the bitch is trying to preach abstinence to the rest of us.. fcuk that..
September 1st, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Ad Rem..I’m angry.. what’s your excuse..’participqnt’..wtf does that mean…fool
September 1st, 2008 at 9:21 pm
If McNasty could squeeze Romney on to the ticket, better yet.
Promiscuity AND Mormon underage, plural marriages!! The new Reaganism. The shining city on a hill, filled with old pervs!!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Anita=republican baby momma..*don’t know who the daddy is..raised by the state*
September 1st, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I think Miss Palin is probably a very nice person. She has no foreign policy experience. She also has a minor child that is five months pregnant.
My beef with this deal is the hypocrisy of the Repub party. I have listened to hours and hours of the right wing talk about the tragedy of teen pregnancy. How many times have we heard them praise Bill Cosby for speaking up about such social issues? How many times did Rush criticize Obama for speaking up about the need for parents to take responsibility for their children?
And I think it was low class to keep this issue underwraps as the McCain ticket laughed to the bank with six million dollars in donations. (lack of full disclosure)
September 1st, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Yea.. you really hit it on the nail JOHN.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Alan: I listen to you and Sean every night. I am a Sean fan. Be that as it may, I heard you tonight inquiring about the safety of the animal being cared for during the hurricane. You libs care more about the non-humans than the humans. Your snide remarks about Palin’s daughter verified this mind set.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Believer or not there is much interest in the care of animals during a hurricane. LA did an extremely good job in caring for the citizens pets during this emergency. People love their animals.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:34 pm
“Man, you guys can just taste the FEAR can’t you?”
LoL, a seventeen year old girl is unmarried and pregnant and the family values party says this adds to somebody’s conservative credentials.
Oh, I’m sorry. I thought conservative means first you wait till you’re an adult and you’re married before you engage in sex. Man, I got it all backwards!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Dear John,
That makes Obama, a “bastard” of a President in the White House, by your logic?
September 1st, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Dear John – are you a representative of the conservative party? If so, I am glad I am not a part of party.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:44 pm
You libs just can’t get the thought of “sex” off your minds! You’re obsessed with it. You’re all caught up in this grotesque game of “gotcha”. You’re pissed as hell ’cause us conservatives aren’t falling all over ourselves in an orgy of self-flagillation. We see a loving and caring family. Perhaps they’re not perfect, who is?…….certainly not a bunch of hateful self-righteous libs!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:50 pm
err yep…a bastard he may be.. but at least his got experience and has policy’s to fix this country.. Obama08
September 1st, 2008 at 9:57 pm
You are a boob… get a real argument. You are SO desperate and your arguments are lame. It is convenient to twist facts to make your points. Go ahead. Talking to you is like talking to the wall, except the wall is more intelligent. Drink the Kool-Aid. The fact is the selection of Palin left you and your party TOTALLY taken by surprise. She is brilliant. She possesses AT LEAST as much experience as B. Hussein Obama (…more–she’s a Governer, versus a State Senator-cum-Senator who votes ‘PRESENT’) and she is intelligent and articulate. Go ahead… find your dirt on her. It will come back to get you in the end. The thing is this: she is amazing and you and your party know it. This is all a matter of 1-upmanship. A pox on you and your party. Your latest comment on the program this evening: Obama has more foreign policy experience than Dubya. You are an idiot. The facts alone demonstrate how wrong you are. How can a State Senator and sitting Senator who has spent the past 2 years campaigning out of his entire 1st and only term possess FP experience in excess of Dubya as governor??? You are an a**. Governors of Texas have significant FP experience because the deal with Mexico. You are a double a**.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:58 pm
You know in the good old days we’d stone the unwed, pregnant girls and send them straight to h3ll for their crime of fornication.
That’s what the Bible tells us to do.
Think this was a problem? Well, who’s perfect?
September 1st, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Please. This is disgusting. Alan, leave this woman and her child alone. Follow Barack’s example, this is off limits. You should be better than this, but you obviously are not, including your disgusting comments on Palin’s prenatal care. Why are you trying to personally drag this woman in the mud, can’t you argue policy?

Alan is the best. He owned Rove tonight on Hannnity and Colmes. Rove was steaming! Colmes shut him down back to back. Hasity was trying to get Karls attention time and time again, yet he kept turning to Alan to try to rubut Alan’s true, cutting, statements. Comlmes Rules.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:08 pm
All I want to know is, when was the decision made that Bristol was going to marry the father, 5 minutes after the story broke? After all, she’s 5 months pregnant. You’d think they would have hauled them to the chapel the next day.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Two things the left can’t understand: Love and Compassion.
Values? You betcha.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:12 pm
I am so disgusted with all of this garbage I’m reading. I’ve never read such vile and hateful stuff in my life. Just because a girl gets pregnant doesn’t make her a slut or a whore. It doesn’t make her mother a bad mom. It makes me want to cry that libs are so disgusting and hateful. I know conservatives can be too, but man. Why don’t we focus on issues like the war or gas, rather than take cheap shots at a 17 year old. Has not one person here never made a poor choice? Did we all listen to what our parents told us? If there is one person here who can say they did, more power to you. But lay off, you guys are making me sick.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:13 pm
No one is perfect, much less a teenager. She is very blessed to have her family to support her. These are HUMAN values.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:16 pm
I’m sure we’ll know everything when Mrs. Palin releases all of her medical records, right?
September 1st, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Well said “Kitchick”!
September 1st, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I’ve been scanning all of the messages at various websites left by both sides of the issue. It is abundantly clear that liberals are absolutely losing it over this VP pick. All they do is dream up some crap and throw out expletives. That’s all. Typical libs!
September 1st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
The Actual headline should read:
” Liberal Talk show host Alan Colmes Poised To Use Palin Pregnancy For Political Smear Campaign and ratings boost”
Coming from the Same Man who Advocates privacy for minors seeking abortion , Advocates for Minors being able to obtain Abortions without a parents consent. Yet he Bristol Palin doesn’t deserve any privacy. Laughing my ass off at the hypocrisy you will sink down to to get ratings. Nice exploitations job there.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Kudos Kitchik!!
September 1st, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Alan you are full of dirt today. Have you no shame?
September 1st, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Interesting points about Palin’s background and family. Something I still want to know about McCain. He has ridden on the coat tails of so many folks. He Grandfather and Dad. How he finished third from the bottom on his Naval Class and still ends up in flight school. They usually pick the cream of the crop…don’t they. He crashes 2-3 planes and get shot down. Returns and gets an appointment as the Navel Liason to the Senate. Stepping on the backs of his family again. This guy is reckless not a maverick look at the Palin pick. How can she help run the country.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Unbelievable – you Republicans will try to “spin” anything – to the point that it doesn’t even make sense.
Now, are you telling me that McCain actually believes that Palin’s unwed, teenage, pregnant, daughter will strengthen the “we run our party based on conservative family values” Republican ticket based on the fact that the daughter is choosing to not have an abortion?
Since when is TEENAGE PREGNANCY a conservative family value?
This is some of the most illogical thinking I have ever heard!
Republican Delegates say: “It’s refreshing to hear she’s going to carry it to term” (as if no other woman carries their baby to term – she’s the only woman in the world who doesn’t have an abortion). “She’s walking the walk” (she’s walking the walk because she’s not having an abortion? – is being a minor who’s pregnant walking the walk?. So if walking the walk is classified by not having an abortion – would you say that some crack-addicted, bi-sexual, prostitute who gets pregnant and decides to gave the baby is walking the walk?).
They say this situation “will boost Palin’s conservative credibility”. How? Will somebody please tell me how teenage pregnancy will boost her conservative credibility?
This has nothing to do with judging Bristol Palin. I respect the fact that she has chosen to have this child. Nor am I judging or mocking this young girl for making a mistake – we all make mistakes.
But the handling of this issue is very insulting to the American people. All that needed to be shared was that Palin’s teenage daughter was pregnant, the family asks for privacy during this time – that’s it, end of story! But no, what do they do? Drag this young girl, who is probably scared, stressed out and feeling like a disappointment to her family (although she shouldn’t, but I’m sure she feels that way) into the spotlight by making stupid remarks like “look, look at her unwed, teenage, pregnant daughter – this is the proof that Sarah Palin has conservative family values”. This is not only offensive to her daughter, but one of the most unbelievably stupidest tactic I have ever heard.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Erica @10:32 pm…
Perfect.
Alan’s rule: Privacy for all except the children/family of a Republican Candidate.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:01 pm
What I find very amusing is the Need to tear down a teenager trying to discredit the Mother. Perhaps since this debate has started it is time to send Private investigators to delve into the Birthing procedures of both Obama Daughters. To make sure that Michelle followed proper birthing techniques and used only good judgement while pregnant. We will need a detailed timeline starting with the time her water broke. I believe that Since Alan started this line of questioning we need to take it further. We need to Question Senator Obamas Judgement if he was smoking at the time of Both pregnancies or around both girls as babies .Perhaps we should demand to know if Michelle ate a proper diet, afterall her judgment should be looked into. But most importantly, we need dna testing to make sure they are really his, and that they really weren’t fathered by the Tooth Fairy. I mean using Alans own justification, We are only doing it because the other side did it first… Right?
September 1st, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I used to enjoy your show with Hannify, but with your recent slobbering of blame on the mother for a child’s misfortune of having a life altering disease, I will not be able to tolerate you any further. Good by viewer. Also, I hope you aren’t lucky enough to dodge the many diseases (MS, cancer, you name them)you are going to possibly face as you age to your end. Oh, you’ll blame someone.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Why should Sarah Palin’s daughter be allowed to privately and personally deal with her unplanned pregnancy, when Palin does not feel that other women are entitled to make a private decision about abortion?
September 1st, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Newflash to all Libs! The Palin family had to let the media know the Girl is pregnant. They Stated very publicly that they wanted her privacy respected and that it was a personal matter. Unfortunatly with the media the way it is, that is impossible so they must show there support publicly as well as privately. For those of you to stupid to understand Conservative home values are cherished, However when mistakes are made ( As happen in every household in the world)Your Character lies in the choices you make. By keeping the Child instead of Aborting it( Which is the easier road) Bristol made a difficult and wonderful decision Which shows character. Family Values encompass supporting your loved ones through difficult and often bad situations as well as the good.
This is life, there is no 100% ideal utopia where everything is perfect all of the time.
And if you think The media would have left this girl alone for one minute your living in fantasy land.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Bristol should have an abortion before her mom makes it illegal…
September 1st, 2008 at 11:17 pm
John,
You seem to know quite a bit about Obama’s experience and his policies. Maybe you can answer the question no Obama supporter can? What exactly is his experience and what has he done that makes you think he can and will enact any of his policies? And while you’re at it, explain to us why the only executive experience he has he has chosen to hide? Especially when that executive experience also involved his pet policy…education. And don’t let Alan tell you it’s because he only had a nodding acquaintance with one of the others involved in the only executive experience he can boast.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:24 pm
CNN can’t be bothered to ask Obama about the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the only executive experience in his resume, but they send a reporter to AK to chase down a rumor started on Kos? And liberals are happy with this?
September 1st, 2008 at 11:28 pm
“…’cause us conservatives aren’t falling all over ourselves in an orgy of self-flagillation.”
Rrrrrrright! Instead you keep posting here to cry cry cry!
“…you don’t understand Christianity and that it is about forgiveness and love…”
Rrrrrright! As demonstrated by the tons and tons of radical right-wing profanity being posted here!
“All they do is dream up some crap and throw out expletives…”
Rrrrright! And I think “crap” is an expletive!
“For those of you to stupid to understand Conservative home values…”
Rrrrright! Lot’s of forgiveness and love! And it sure seems like mom passed on her “values” to the daughter!
September 1st, 2008 at 11:29 pm
“What exactly is his experience and what has he done that makes you think he can and will enact any of his policies?”
He was born to no one in particular and now he’s running for the presidency and he did got this far without 1) help from the Bush dynasty, or 2) admirals in the family.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Liberal Rottweiler..hahahahahahahahahaha!! Your complaints sound more like a Liberal Yorkie!!! Keep on yelpin’ yorkie….and get yourself housetrained while you’re at it!
September 1st, 2008 at 11:34 pm
When are you people going to get it? It has nothing to do with judging people that make mistakes.
There are plenty of elected officials (and their family members) on both parties who behave in less than desirable ways (whether it be teenage pregnancy, affairs, drug use, etc). The issue isn’t necessarily their behavior (unless it’s something particularly hideous). The Democrats beef with the Republican Party is that they run their entire ticket with this “holier than thou” bullshit, “our party is the party that represents conservative family values” bullshit – as though nobody but them have any moral values. So when your party has a scandalous story – of course the shit is going to hit the fan.
In general, I think most Americans are pretty forgiving people – but nobody likes a hypocrite. When are you going to get that point? It has nothing to do with judging people, it’s about the party having the gall to act “holier than thou” while criticizing Democrats who display less than perfect morals – at the same time Republicans are displaying less than perfect morals.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Mr. Colmes, no matter how many ways you spin and re-spin this story, you just don’t get it. The private life of this young lady is none of your business.
So why don’t you get on to some REAL issues?
September 1st, 2008 at 11:37 pm
Tom, I so agree how disappointed I was to see Sean and Bill and Gingrich and Laura completely ignore the fact that Alan had made several of these sickening posts on this site. I sent a note to Sean I wouldn’t watch or listen to him.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:43 pm
In general, I think most Americans are pretty forgiving people – but nobody likes a hypocrite
Something we can agree on. Too bad you don’t see yourself as the hypocrite you are. The young lady has never expressed her views. She may be as liberal as you are. Her husband and older brother are not registered republicans. But hey. All’s fair…
September 1st, 2008 at 11:43 pm
This story about Palin’s daughter is a valid issue –
Bill O’Reilly
September 1st, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Obama has shown some class on this issue. Too bad the same can’t be said of many others.

September 1st, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Danielle dear,
Where do you get this idea that all conservatives are “holier-than-thou”? Were you raised by fundamentalist “snake handlers”, or punished by sadistic nuns? Really, your view of Conservatism is quite backwards and ill-informed!
September 1st, 2008 at 11:51 pm
Well this is fun. **Her father and older brother**

The Republican party sickens me. McCain uses and abuses people Sarah and Bristol Palin is no exception.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:04 am
Koi,
The only thing being abused, is your use of the English language. When you speak in the plural, “are” would be correct, not “is”.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:14 am
Palin. Look, this takes nothing away from her as a person. It appears she is a fine lady. But….
Our new Republican VP candidate is a baby machine. She has popped out five so far and now has her daughter doing the same. Why her kid is barely above the age of statutory rape and is pregnant. One baby machine has created another.
And what’s to keep mom Palin from feeling the urge again? Do we really want a pregnant vice president in office? The country will have to purchase a larger Vice President’s residence.
This hokum about balancing work and private life is a joke. Ask anyone else who has had five kids. And she’s soon to be a grandmother. Where is she genuinely going to find the time to be a real vice president?
Another issue: from the Chicago Tribune story that says “A medical journal urges to trim carbon footprint with fewer children.” Responsibility in today’s world means one or two children. Whether or not one believes in climate change, we are on our way to dramatically overtax this planet’s resources by having so many off spring. Politicians and media keep thinking lots of kids are a point of pride. Not so anymore. The population in the world today is growing too large. Palin’s personal choice of five and a daughter that is bringing out more is a bad example that does not show responsible behavior.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:15 am
Hey–guys
none of this sounds to me like anyone’s bashing the girl. the point is the hypocrisy.
i feel bad for this girl, she’s only 17 and has been sucked into a maelstrom that will have a profound effect on her life.
the other point is that this is a person who has a whole bunch of kids, and now kids having kids, and she wants to be vice president too? with all the Cons’ “family values” blablabla, isn’t it fair to ask about the personal values of a person–not a woman, a person–whose plate is full to overflowing, whose kids obviously need her very much–and who would be our country’s VP on top of all that? isn’t it fair to want to know more about this whole situation, especially given McCain’s age? what if something happens to him and she’s the Pres?
i don’t know about ya’ll but ….these sure sound like valid ??? to me..
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:17 am
Willie is a Muslim hater!!!! (Not too late to self-abort Willie!)
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:18 am
Alan, it’s obvious that Governor Palin scares the cr*p out of you. Just leave the kid alone, okay? And the post you removed regarding Governor Palin’s water breaking, is all over the web. You really are the Court Jester of FoxNews.

Thanks for the grammar check Ad Rem. It’s not gonna hurt as much as when the Republican ticket goes down the drain.
“Aides to Mr. McCain said they had a team on the ground in Alaska now to look more thoroughly into Ms. Palin’s background. A Republican with ties to the campaign said the team assigned to vet Ms. Palin in Alaska had not arrived there until Thursday, a day before Mr. McCain stunned the political world with his vice-presidential choice. The campaign was still calling Republican operatives as late as Sunday night asking them to go to Alaska to deal with the unexpected candidacy of Ms. Palin.”

God yes, Cindi…..I know I’d sleep better at night knowing an illegitimate son of an un-wed teenager with a Muslin father, who later deserted his family, who has scads of half-relations living in squalor…was running the country!

Alan ask JM or surrogates about these..please..
In a piece posted tonight at the NIeman Watchdog site, Barry Sussman, editor of the Watchdog (which is affiliated with the NIeman Foundation at Harvard), calls on John McCain to release all of his Navy records, particularly those surrounding three unusual accidents that he was involved in before getting shot down over Vietnam.
Sussman was a reporter and editor at The Washington Post for 22 years and had a role in the Watergate era at the paper.
He wrote his call in response to a massive Washington Post piece by Micheal Leavy on McCain’s Navy years, noting “Leahy mentioned, without laboring over them, three near-catastrophes McCain had as a pilot. Reporters should look into these incidents. They should do so soon, and not wait until just before the election, or after it. It’s unusual for military pilots, let alone presidential candidates, to have so many mishaps in a relatively short career of flying What do they tell us, if anything, about McCain’s judgement, ability and character?”
The second accident was particularly troubling, Sussman suggests: ‘”McCain had completed flight training and was deployed to the Mediterranean. ‘He was flying low one day when he decided to have some fun,’ Leahy wrote. He dropped so low that he knocked down power lines over southern Spain, cutting off electricity in the area. McCain later referred to his own behaviour as ‘daredevil clowning’ and said he had created ‘a small international incident.’”
Leahy wrote that McCain had a “desultory performance” in the air. On the face of it, the incident in Spain stands out as an example of rash, poor judgement. The other two also raise questions. How much was a problem with the equipment, how much was pilot error? What about McCain’s responses: What do they tell us about his temperament?
The Navy investigates all such events and keeps records of them. Included as a rule are accounts by the people involved, which generally are not made public. One of the first steps for reporters would be to ask McCain to have the Navy release statements he made–or to release them himself. Reporters should also file Freedom of Information Act requests with the Navy for all documents pertaining to McCain’s crashes and incidents.
A journalist with experience in such research says the files should contain “accident/incident/safety reports” and first-hand accounts. In addition, this journalist notes, “given the age of the incidents, it would appear the records for them would be in the Naval Historical Centre, and FOIAs go through the Chief of Naval Operations. FOIA information can be found on the Web site of the Naval Safety Center.”
Reporters also might seek a Privacy Act waiver to obtain all of McCain’s military and health records, including those from the Naval Academy. McCain and his supporters have made his military career–his knowledge and judgement–a key to his campaign, a main reason to vote for him. His behaviour as a young rebel is widely known and wouldn’t surprise or shock anyone. McCain wants to be president; he should be willing to have these records made public.

oh, and Alan IS the Court Jester of Fox News and HE ROCKS!
the court jester is the only one in the king’s palace who can speak truth to power, and it is a position of great delicacy and honor. Alan carries on these conversations with grace _long_ after I’d be sputtering and swearing—not to mention he’s one of the only talk radio hosts who genuinely engages callers on both sides of the issues and addresses these very inflammatory things in a decent, civilized way.
this division between “left” and “right” is tearing apart our country. Alan’s show is as free-for-all as it gets. communication is the only thread that has a chance of knitting us together again in a way strong enough to make things work. and i don’t see real communication between sides happening much, outside of Alan’s show. i for one thank god for it, (the show) because it’s my dose of sanity at the end of some very long days.

AD REM,
I think you should feel better knowing the background that Obama came from – and the fact that he still managed to become an Ivy school educated Senator and the first African – American nominated for President of the United States.
Your point doesn’t even make any sense!?!?! “Born to an un-wed teenager” – How can Obama be judged for his parents behavior when he wasn’t even born yet? – “Who’s Muslim father later deserted his family” – So is was infant Obama’s fault that his father deserted him?
People do not have control over their parent’s behavior – but parents do have control over how their kids turn out. Relating these two situations is just stupid!
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:40 am
Oh my goodness. How this will look good for the GOP I’m not sure.

OOh, gets your dander up when someone “disses” you candidate doesn’t it Danielle! I’m aware that his background is not of his choosing, however, his political affiliations, and church are. The number of children Palin chose to have, is none of anyone’s business, nor the methods which she employed to deliver them.

Give it 48 to 72 hours, Palin will be a thing of the past.
From troopergate to diapergate this will be the end of this Republican ticket as we know it. How sad!

Apparently you have never been a parent to a 17 year old teenager. But since you feel it is alright to hold the mother responsible for the daughters pregnancy , perhaps we should hold all parents fully responsible for the actions of there teenagers. Make them pay for Tagging, Street Crimes, Drug dealing, Car accidents criminal and Civil, instead of throwing the kids into juvie…. Throw the parents in jail… thanks Danielle I like your train of thoughts!

You guys need to wake up to this Palin lady. From 1994-1996 she was part of the AIP (Alaska Independence Party). Check out their website, http://www.akip.org
This group believes that Alaska should be an independent nation from America, or at the very least have the opportunity to vote on it. Furthermore, they respect Alaska’s state constitution before America’s. Unlike McCains new motto “America First” the AIP’s motto is “Alaska First – Alaska Always”. Check out the video she sent the AIP this year for their convention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI
This lady has no business anywhere near our White House. You may have thought Rev. Wright was unAmerican, but at least he’s not running for office. John McCain should be ashamed of himself for being willing to leave our country in the hands of someone he doesn’t even know. What kind of good judgment is that?
The above can be confirmed at the AIP website and on ABC News.

Remember when David Shuster was suspended for saying the Clinton’s were pimping out the adult Chelsea (and he was speaking in metaphor..)
Just the mere hint of using a sexualy metaphor was a job-threatening offense when it came to the Clintons.
Now Alan questions if it was McCain’s plan along to use a girl’s pregnancy to impress the Pro-Life crowd.
Do you folks realize the implications of that speculation?

When I first heard the announcement that McCain picked a women, I thought how wonderful it is that the Republicans are trying to progress. Then when I saw them via T.V. and saw all the children and a special needs infant, I wondered if Mcain would be hanging her child out there to make political points on one of the most hot buttonm issues of our time, other than war. If they make that choice, they are putting Sarah’s children out as far game. Tragic!

Then I saw the announcement on T.V. and wondered if McCain would use her children to make political points on one of the most hot button issues of our time other than war. How tragic. McCain reaches the front line of battle in a national campaign and sends out a women with a special needs infant and pregnant teenage daughter to take the hits. Makes me wonder what his war plan would be if he picks a fight with Iran and it gets tough. Some warrior!!!!!!! God help us. If this is Mcain and Palins choice, They have no one to blame but themselves. No one coddled Cheney, Gore, Biden or Hillary. A little reality check,PLEASE.

September 2nd, 2008 at 1:44 pm
I was amazed by Cindi McCains hat switching comment- that someone in the party finally admitted that Republican ideology is not synonomous with American values! It was a revealing comment and it should be hammered home to independents and disillusioned Republicans that Rep. leaders feel more allegiance to their party than their country.
As to the Palin frenzy- I see Mrs. Palin as a power hungry control freak who knowingly put her families issues in front of the microscope. She wants this VP slot no matter who it hurts- I feel she is willing to sacrifice her childs well being to furthur her own political career. I would never to this to my daughter.
It is unrealistic to expect that such a controversy would be ignored especially since it is the right wing extremists who for years have been shoving their family values down America’s throat, advocating abstinence alone, and trying to stop schools from providing info on birth control and STD’s. It is this hypocrisy that is fueling the issue, and I think the Republican party should be held accountable for this “do as I say not as I do” attitude. One last point, can you imagine the fall out if the Dem VP nominee was the one with a pregnant teen?? Does anyone on this board believe for a second that the conservatives would NOT bring the issue up? Wake up America its time for a change, and for the record take a look at what 8 years of “experianced” political leadership has done to our country- on that basis alone it is evident that we dont need “experiance” we need a good leader and “experiance” does not mean qualified.
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:52 pm
I hope KOI is right, I hope it IS the end of the Republican Party as we know it today, and that it returns to a saner time before the Religious Right and fascist Neocons got their hands on it.
Talk about Backaland! Lincoln, Goldwater and Eisenhower are absolutely puking in heaven right now. This is how Family Values (coined by Gingrich, of all people) has bitten them on the ass, and the candidates’ personal lives, as they’re touted by Neocons, has spotlighted the bad judgement, tunnel vision, the hypocrisy, the regressive and predatory thinking that now abounds in my old GOP.
McCain would have had a better candidate in Lieberman. It’s too bad no one in his party wants him to win.

Republicans tout Governor Sarah Palin’s experience as commander-in-chief of the Alaska National Guard as preparation to be commander in chief of the United States.
Let me tell you what a Governor who is commander-in-chief does — or more accurately, does not do. She does not command.
I was commander-in-chief of the Vermont National Guard when I was governor of Vermont from 1985 to 1991. I flew in a helicopter when I visited the troops at Camp Drum where they were doing their summer training each year. I attended ceremonial events and had my picture taken with the troops, just like Governor Palin. That was it.
I had zero authority over the troops. I even tested my power during my term of office when I objected to the Vermont National Guard being sent to Honduras for training. I was responding to many of my constituents who objected to the guard being deployed there because they feared it would heighten U.S. participation in the strife in Nicaragua.
I was promptly told, “No way.” To make certain that no Governor tried to be “commander-in-chief” of the national guard the Congress passed a law in 1987, called, the Montgomery amendment which states “that a governor cannot withhold consent with regard to active duty outside of the United States.” In 2007, governors’ powers were whittled down further by the John Warner Defense Administration Act: “the Governor of a state is no longer the sole commander-in-chief of the National Guard during emergencies within the state. The President of the United States will now be able to take control of a state’s National Guard units without the governor’s consent.”
Governor Palin may have some qualities that would enable her to perform as Vice President, but being commander-in-chief of the Alaska National Guard is not one of them.

If right wingers can say that Obama threw his grandmother under tha bus, it is appropriate to say that Ms Palin threw her daughter under the bus.
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:49 am
Let’s look at your choice, Obama: He admitted in his own book to using crack and pot. His big accomplishment was the failed Chicago Annenberg Challenge, founded by Bill Ayers, unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist and a friend of the Obamas. Ayer’s female accomplice, Bernadette Dohrn, went into hiding and eluded capture for over 25 years, finally turning herself in. Her conviction was shortened by a Bill Clinton pardon. Barack Hussein Obama represented the group, ACORN, which has been convicted of falsifying signatures in elections.
He associated himself for over 20 years with reverend Jeremiah Wright who recently was quoted saying: “Barack knows what it means to be a black man to be living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary can never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a n—–.”
Please read Barack’s own book and do some research on Barack’s associations with Tony Resko, Bill Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis, Reverand Jeremiah Wright, Father Phleuger, Louie Farrakhan (Nation of Islam), Moammar Gaddafi (Libya dictator)and Raila Odinga..
Don’t be fooled by the liberal media….inform yourself and make up your own mind. I will think you will clearly see Barack Hussein Obama lacks the clear judgment it takes to be Commander in Chief.
