Republicans love to portray Obama in particular and Democrats in general as elitists. But take a look at garb on the current first lady and her would-be successor from Wednesday night’s festivities:

At least they weren’t wearing sunglasses encrusted with diamonds with a name on them.

EVERYTHING that the Republicans say is the opposite of the truth:
They talk about “elites”, but it doesn’t get more elite than those who have their personal fortunes tied up in the industries that benefit from the VERY foreign policy that THEY get to make.
The right wing corporate media moguls profit from the ‘moral decay’ on TV and movies, then profit from the right wing gasbags bloviating about the same ‘moral decay’.
They cheat, divorce, use hookers, and tap around in men’s rooms while lecturing the rest of us about ‘family values.’
They talk about ‘supporting the troops’, but they spare tax cuts for the millionaires and billionaires or welfare money for their corporate cronies, to adequately fund them, cut their VA benefits, and let the disgrace of Walter Reed happen on their watch.

- McCain is a true American hero in an age when the word is thrown around loosely
- Palin seems to have a strong family, and it is impressive to see the positive way she is supporting her daughter
- The United States developed and used military might to stand up to true evil in WWII, and was morally strong enough to resist the temptation to keep territory (ala Russia) after victory

I can see you are frustrated – I got that way yesterday after an endless conversation where everyone was trying to convince me that Obama is a socialist without providing any evidence, then getting mad that I was not convinced by them saying ‘he wants to redistribute wealth’ without any examples of what they meant. (Vince was the lone exception, by the way, he did back up his thoughts with a couple examples).
I gotta say, I like the positive way you engage those you disagree with though SKY. And admit it, it is more interesting to talk w/ folks who don’t agree with you all the time!
I agree that Alan is really good – he does his best to engage in actual conversations, challenges people to back up their blanket statements, and is pretty funny. I disagree with him on a few things (the biggest current thing I disagree with is his response to Russia invading Georgia).

The convention just showed a little movie that is a bio of Sarah Palin.
She is a great woman. She was just a regular person like us .. She joined the PTA to be involved with her kids education, and then didn’t like what the town was doing , so she set out to run for office to fix it.
And then she ran into the entrenched corrupt politician who she fiercely fought.
And she kept on fighting corruption.. as high as she could find it, no matter who was doing it.
And now she is asked to be Vice President of the United States.
I think that is a remarkable and inspiring story.
This is why I love America and so many others do.

Alan engages people from all sides in real conversations, I’m not sure why you would insult him in that way. He has spoken very respectfully about McCain, he very strongly disagrees with Palin’s stance on a number of issues (as do I, most certainly) and points that out, but I haven’t heard him be a ‘prick’ about her.
I’m sure you guys disagree on most things. I am sure there are things I disagree on with every poster on this blog, and every person on earth. But we don’t have to insult each other.
Palin has some admirable qualities, but she definitely is not someone I want to be president, because of her politics.

I am completely appalled at her leaving ALL of her children so soon for WORK (In around the mid-late ’90s, she becomes mayor of Wasilla. Her children at the time were 9, 7, 4, and then gives birth to Piper in 2001- So, did she DESERT those very YOUNG children to run back to her office duties after Piper’s BIRTH, also??)

I hope everyone stops talking about her, to tell you the truth, but I do think it is possible to talk about her in certain ways, without it being humiliation. But, sincerely, I will listen closely for it going over the line in his future shows.

It was gone during the GOP convention. I noticed how she was clapping with such gusto, hugging everyone, and holding up little Trak with no difficulty. And now today the cast reappears. Is it purely coincidence that it is the same arm casted as her husband’s was in his video clip showing him coming home from the war? Was she injured or is this some subliminal attempt to remind us of his tragic war story?

Glad to see the leftoids continue to confront the pressing issues of the day. Unlike Allen and many libs, I find an attractive, well dressed, heterosexual woman very interesting. Matter of fact, I grant that Bela Pelosi’s single grace is that she dresses flawlessly. Anyone put a price on her beautiful, golfball sized Black pearls? Are our shabby and pusillanimous ways outraging the fastidious people who have sent an innocent man (Dreyfus) to a living hell, taken to their embraces the slimy guilty one, and submitted to indignities Emile Zola – the manliest man in France?
Is it Spain’s respect that we are going to lose? Is she sitting sadly conning her great history and contrasting it with our meddling, cruel, perfidious one – our shameful history of foreign robberies, humanitarian shams, and annihilations of weak and unoffending nations?
