  1. My husband is libaral like Alan. He has a PhD and he belive he is Elite but he is not rich. To my opinion Elitism is controvarsial. He do not think Donald Trump is Elite. He is just rich. Prices of Laura and Cindy’s outfits do not make them elite. They will be observed by millions of people. They want to look good. They are girls. We want to look good.

  2. LOPA-
No offense here but, after reading your post several times, I can’t help but suspect you may be one of the imposters/plants the R party is using to play mindgames. I may be wrong but, some of the callers to ElRushbo’s show, in the past several days, sound mighty suspicious to me – especially the guy who said he had recently lost his job but, was so overcome by Sarah Palin that he is going to send a donation, from his severance pay, to the McCain campaign.

  3. Oh thank god the GOP pow-wow is finally over! McCain’s speech was so boring; I could barely stay awake. As expected, he talked about being a POW – and not much else.

But I have to admit, it wasn’t quite as nausating as that Moose-Ass’s speech. I want a woman in the White House; but I’ll hold out for a decent one. Nice try – but the ploy of acting like some tough bitch doesn’t cover-up the fact that she lacks education and knowledge. Acting like an asshole doesn’t get you very far in understanding the complex issues of the Middle East.

And how many times are we going to be forced to look at that teenage knocked up daughter and her high school drop-out “daddy baby”? They aren’t really the problem; it’s having Moose-Ass preach about “walking the walk” and “family values” while having to look at those two at the same time.

  4. Speaking of free for all,

I heard on one of the shows that Ted Nugent was mad at Alan, but they had made up… What was that all about?

  5. I believe the story was the other way around Alan was upset with Ted Nugent because Ted called Hillary a vulgar name.

  6. Stupid,

It isn’t Palin’s daughter’s fault, or her boyfriend’s fault that Palin is running for VP. They did not have any choice or say in the matter, I am quite sure, so why don’t you and everyone else just leave them alone. I imagine it is tough enough to be 17 and pregnant without people trying to use your pregnancy as a way to beat up your mom.

There is plenty of ammo to use to show why Palin should not be a heartbeat away from the presidency, leave the innocents out of it.

  7. Yeah…it’s sad, Bristol appears sweet. Unfortunately, I envision an episode of Jerry Springer and a double-wide in her future.

  8. Nah, Bristol won’t be living in a double-wide. But, if she were currently living in a double-wide, the Repubs would be labeling her as white trash.

  9. Chase,

Another unkind remark about a 17 year old kid, with a gratuitous swipe at people who live in trailer parks thrown in for good measure. A little more love for our fellow man, left, right, or center, would not cost any of us anything and would improve the world a great deal.

She apparently has a supportive family, and it sounds like the dad is sticking with her and their future baby as well, so she is much better off than many in that situation.

Hopefully this will inspire people on both sides to look at ways to help less fortunate young women get through these types of difficult times.

  10. Them dbl wides is nice. Much better than them projects. How come yall dont never make fun of them people that live in that government housing. At least we is payin for these here dbl wides. We aint costin you liberals a damn dime.

  11. SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,SIR,CLICK.

  12. Encore…..if Bristol were a poor young woman living in the projects the Repubs would look down their noses at her and label her as trash.

  13. Alan, Please stop goofing around with Liberaland while trying to play clever talk show host. Way too much Uh,Uh,Uh,Uh,Uh,Uh,Uh.

  14. I heard Bristol is continuing her education after she gives birth. She is going to major in community organizing. Go Gurl.

  15. NEWS FLASH: More people murdered in Chicago this year than soldiers killed in Iraq. How can this be. Were not these same Chicago communities oranized and tamed by Mr.Obama.

  16. I certainly hope she obtains a higher education than you show yourself to possess.

  17. Don’t need much education to spar with liberals. Little common sense and parents of opposite genders works just fine.

  18. You obviously put yourself up in the class with Bristol Palin. Keep dreaming chucklehead!

  19. FYI: Was listening to Howard Stern Thursday, Mike Walker, National Enquirer, was on. He has a spot every Thursday. He informed Howard he allready has “three (3) reporters on the ground in Alaska” checking out Sarah Palin. I’m sure they will bring back something. Stand by Liberals, will keep you updated as the dirt rolls in.

  20. The Friday night free for all.I am in it to win for the full three hours.Should be a wild show.

  23. Anita, you show your class by going after the children. I’m childlike, pick on me.

  24. This was fun, I enjoy your show Alan. My pet peeve of the week. “God forbid, what if something happens to McCain?” bye all

  25. You sound like a nasty little plug-ugly bully. Some free advice for you buster – you really should obtain some role models in your life, who are truly Christian people. Give up the Sean Hannity’s and Rush Limbaugh’s of the world. They are dementing your mind.

  26. So if Gov. Palin Locks up her daughter, and runs every aspect of her daughter’s life, Gov. Palin would be accused of being a control freak that is stunting her daughter development and stifling her daughter’s freedom to express herself. it is only that Gov. Palin is a conservative that she is catching so much flack. Its near impossible to watch the news without someone commenting on the way Gov. Palin is dressed, her hair, her kids, or how much she doesn’t appeal to the average working, soccer, or stay at home Mom. I think they believe if they say it enough it will become true.

  27. Palin can’t hide from the media forever. Maybe she’s a coward. Just like McCain…

  56. Bob, yes the traffic was awful. People were calling in to WWL telling stories about being stuck for hours & not having bathrooms…having to go along the hwy, running out of gas. One lady left with husband & children & pets and drove for hours to a shelter which they had been told would accept their pets. When they got there, the shelter would not take their pets so they turned around & were going back home. She said they spent $140 on gas to get there to the shelter ($ they needed for there bills).

  57. Mr. Palin is a union member with card only. No longer works. He’s a stay at home. They can afford it.

  58. I didnt know that Mary.Thats some good info.I will pass that on to my fellow union members..

  59. The Red Cross set up a shelter for 400 people at the Civic Arena in St. Joe. They were told that people from New O. would be airlifted in by the Air Force (we have an airbase here). After the volunteers had spent several hours setting the whole thing up they received a phone saying that they were “too far away” & would not receive anyone. They torn it all down again.

  60. I saw furyus on here earlier. No response from him.Are you going to call in tonight Mary?

  62. There have been lots of complaints about disorganization & communication problems that have not received media attention. But I guess as compared to Katrina it went better. Some saying it may be months before power is restored to some areas of New O. That’s inexcusable!
We had the ice storm here last Dec & most power was up & running again in less than a week. We had trees down everywhere. Our power company had help from lots of other states & we had many Mexican immigrants hired by a tree trimming service…guys working more than 24 hrs in the cold to get the job done. Can’t tell me it would take so long to fix New O.

  63. Bob, I doubt I will call 2 nite. I spoke to Alan once this week already. & did a Graffiti.

  64. Mary I remmeber the ice storm.I was listening to Alan when the ice came.I didnt have power for a week.I am a part of some sorry ass co-op.The others that had ameren ue had trucks roll into town like an army.I saw the stikers of the electrians union on all of there big trucks as they restored power in just a few days.

  84. Your conservative callers always seem to be rude, pushy jerks.

Of ourse, your callers are a representative sample of the greater world because nearly all conservatives are rude, pushy jerks.

Regarding Palin, I hope the media embargo doesn’t hold up. Keeping her under wraps for 60 days, only feeding America filtered information, may be the best way to get her elected but it subverts the democratic process.

If the cons really are putting “Country First”, they need to let Palin loose on the country so we can get a good look at her. If we get a good clear look at her, I’m confident most of us will be turned off by her. She’s nuts.

    Hello, regulars!!!

  85. I wanted to make a point on gender roles. I’m a mom of 3 boys. I work for a large corporation and am the bread winner for my family. My husband is a stay home dad. (A home maker if you will). When I get home form work, my house is clean and dinner is made. My kids are bathed and homework is done. My baby is feed diapered and content. My two year old is on his path to academic stardom. Gender role is situational. I have ambition to succeed and take care of my family. My husband has his own ambition and goals. He sacrifices his short term goals to play the best role for our family and our economic situation. There are many days I wish I could stay home and care for my family the way the way my husband does. Our role reversal is based on situation and if I had a choice I’d be the homemaker. I think that it may be fair to say that with an amazing attempt to shatter the glass ceiling I’ve lost my opportunity to take a step back into the honorable role of a stay home mom. I started on a career path that out weighed the income my husband could make. For the moment my paycheck pays the bills and feeds my children. Is it possible that society’s social grace in not wanting to upset the delicate balance of gender and to avoid sex discrimination placed me in this predicament?

  86. Obama,Obama,Obama. Take us with you Obama. We speak your name. More koolaid anyone?

  87. anonymouse,
Your the one that is rude calling conservative’s rude pushy jerk’s take a look at what your saying. Can’t you say anything without insulting people. We are all americans and we all have different views that doesn’t make either one of us right or wrong. Do you just want your voice and your opinion if so go to a country that allows that because we live in a democracy and have the freedom of speech. I have the right to my opinion and you have the right to yours.

  88. You say “for the moment,” Tiescha. For the last eight years the significance of workers to the reigning philosophy is that they are units of production. [actually, prior too with McDonalds' windfalls due to Welfare "reform"] The trickle-down-job-exportation paradigm wanted ever more production out of these units and got it…without fair rumuneration. That’s all we count for. Like Obama points out, we’re on our own.

  89. Anonymouse, you say “embargo” and you’re right. We live in media embargo land (liberal land is still off in the distance). Remember the Stephanopoulos and Gibson performance earlier this year? Actually, I really don’t know WHERE to begin. Gas prices are connected IMO to how we tried to enforce The Carter Doctrine which is connected to fall out/blowback from same which is connected to the Caspian pipeline project right now (Carter didn’t start the whole thing). Who has mentioned the pipeline at all? Only Palin. She’s got the her byte and her point lodged on her fans’ mental back burners already…while Dem focus groups, commentators, and life-narrative conjurors would all just give you a blank stare if you brought it up. Gad zooks, we should breathe something about the real world to those clods!? They’re not ready for the truth! Meanwhile, in so many words, Daniel Schorr sez Palin’s speech was a dynamite success. Tragedy is…he’s right. Sorry, the elitist media will not join the issues. Arguments on both sides lumber around on high like those rocks at Disney World.

I’d like to say more positive things about Lakoff’s ideas, but I suffer from the same time contingincies as many other laymen out here…dial up connection, chores put off from work days after which I dropped like a stone with Lehrer putting me to sleep, and other things. I’d like to return to it in the future if anyone else has interest. If we did what he said IMO we could help Obama keep the huge lead [1)He's gonna need it
2)I don't believe the CBS poll]. Unfortunately, now I only have time to mention my one break with Lakoff’s approach. There is something else important that he left out IMO. I will call it/them “blind spots.” Blind spots occur when there is absolutely nothing in the public mind or in the-collective-wonk-mind germane to an issue of utmost importance. Simply put, we don’t know 20th century history cause no one’s bothered to relate it. Most likely nine tenths of the profs in this land would have heart attacks if they were confronted with the real deal themselves.

But Lakoff gives me hope. I disagree only in thinking instead of doing 2 things at once, we gotta do three.
