Palin Links Iraq and 9/11
Addressing soldiers on their way to Iraq (incuding her son), Sarah Palin said that they would “defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoised in the death of thousands of Americans.” Even the Pentagon has debunked such a link, and al Qaeda in Iraq, or al-Qaeda in Mesopotamia, is not the same group that was behind the 9/11 attacks.

For your information, The Bush Doctrine is a phrase used by the liberals. Know wonder she didn’t know what that was?
September 12th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Yeah, but there’s no OIL in Afghanistan, so they have no interest in sending troops there. Plus, Afghanistan has so little infrastructure to speak of, there isn’t enough money for KBR, Blackwater and the rest of the profiteers and mercenaries for Bush/McCain/Cheney/Palin to approve the cost/benefit analysis (as in COST in political capital vs BENEFIT to their purses).
September 12th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
You have a typo, its rejoiced not rejoised. Keep up the good work Alan!
September 12th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
But Afghanistan IS the chosen route for an oil pipeline from Russia and points north.
SOOOO, it’s still in the ‘it’s not about oil’ crowd to keep that country from being overrun by the terrorists.
September 12th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Well, the radical right wants to return us to the 1950s, or the 1700s, so a speech from seven years in the past is relatively up to date.
And it doesn’t really matter what you say, as long as it’s rousingly patriotic.
September 12th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
@ Brenda
“The Bush Doctrine” is widely used by a number of people, including conservatives. People who read and keep up with politics would know this.
September 12th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
The Bush Doctrine is a term used to describe various related foreign policy principles of United States president George W. Bush, enunciated in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The phrase initially described the policy that the United States had the right to treat countries that harbor or give aid to terrorist groups as terrorists themselves, which was used to justify the invasion of Afghanistan.
September 12th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Palin: I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hell-bent on destroying our nation. There have been blunders along the way though. There have been mistakes made. And with new leadership – and that’s the beauty of American elections, of course, and democracy – is with new leadership comes opportunity to do things better.
September 12th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Alan, this is borderline treason on your part, be careful.
You are an expert in current events, world events, world places, political news etc…
for you to proclaim, as an expert that there is not and never was any link between Saddams Irak and the 9/11 terrorists, and to take the next step and say Secy of Defense Runsfeld is a liar for statements in 2003, when my side says there were no lies by the Bush admin, and none have been proven, only accused?
You present the info so others can say Alan Colmes proved it to me, he is an expert so Bush lied and there were no wmd?
When the facts ARE that there were and are links between the main terrorist groups, and UNR1441 was passed? yes passed because Irak had and used wmd’s on civilians, it was all about proving they got rid of it all. For you to say no the Irak war was about Bush lying to say they had wmd’s just to get oil or ? this is far far far into the area of treason.
Its no longer just talk when you present the false information you know to be false since youre an expert as valid information and that the American citizens, if they have any common sense, will believe your information and seek to prosecute the Bush admin for lying and an illegal war; When you know the premise is false.
Its like yelling FIRE! in a crowded theater with theater goers trampling each other to get out and many are injured and some are killed. but you did it just to be malicious.
The absurdity Alan of your argument is maybe like standing at the Grand Canyon observation point and saying there is no canyon at all, the terrain is perfectly flat as far as the eye can see. No Alan, look over there! big canyon, and thats the trail that leads to the bottom! no its not, thats not there, its all just flat terrain and I could walk across because its flat, its flat desert sand. No Alan its a canyon and you cant walk across it. yes I can its a flat desert there…
Obviously the proof is whether the canyon is there or whether its flat and you can walk across. If you try to prove Bush lied or try to prove illegal war? when you get to the reality part Alan then your claim will be shown false. But Alan what about all those people you have tricked?
What a cruel lesson you gave them, telling them the US President during wartime lied to them and committed massive crimes and they should impeach, or the latest wave, pronounce sentence and execute GW Bush for killing US soldiers.
You know the links to terrorists and the wmd were obviously there. Playing along with traitors and saying Bush lied, Rummy lied, illegal war, no evidence? With you being known for careful analysis? It means you chose to incite anarchy and to partake in an effort(s) to overthrow and usurp the US government with the words you share, being an expert on words and information.
Alan, the liklihood of you partaking in treason is like a young George Washington standing next to the cherry tree chopped down, with an axe in his hands and guilty expression.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Bradley, GET A JOB! Like I have time to read all your blather. The US Army is being used as a tool by our government in a war that was predicated on a lie. You enjoy the nation you belong to engaging in dishonest and illegal acts? Go back to the right-wing blogs that enforced all the spin and propaganda you have gobbled up.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
“You have a typo, its rejoiced not rejoised. Keep up the good work Alan!”
Hi, Tyler. Your “its” is supposed to have an apostrophe “s,” because it’s a contraction and not possessive. You might also have added a comma after “work.”
I love it when people riddle their posts with typos, to point out others’ typos.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Sorry Bradley, Alan didn’t proclaim, as an expert that there is not and never was any link between Saddams Irak and the 9/11 terrorists , it was the 9/11 Commission that claimed that.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Working Mom, quoting Palin: “And with new leadership – and that’s the beauty of American elections, of course, and democracy – is with new leadership comes opportunity to do things better.”
Exactly, Working Mom. And since McCain and Palin have pretty much agreed with 95% of everything Bush has done, said or believed, we have a better “opportunity to do things better” with the “new leadership”….of Barack Obama.
The other alternative seems to be nothing but the same potential for “blunders,” if allies hating our guts and 4,000 dead could be considered such.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Sorry Sarah, but “its” is not supposed to have an apostrophe unless it is possesive. “Its” is one of those contractions that doesn’t need an apostrophe. And a comma is not necessary where you suggested.
I love it when people ridicule other people’s typos only to find out they were wrong in the first place.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Oh, BTW Sarah, I’m a liberal as well, just figured I had to mess with you on that one. Sorry to be a jerk.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Inkscribe, you really need to buy a copy of Strunk and White’s “Elements of Style.”
Its, possessive: The dog hid its bone in the backyard.
It’s, contraction: It’s the opinion of this poster that Inkscribe has just made an error.
The sentence, “It’s ‘rejoiced’….” was meant to be a contraction of “it is rejoiced.”
You’re right, you’re kinda being a jerk. But you’re a liberal, so I forgive you.
September 12th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
One option we have is electing a guy who wants to cut military spending, decrease our weapon capabilities, stop production of nuclear weapons while those who hate us continue to develop their own arsenal, and re-distribute income.
yeah, I would feel safer given terrorists don’t like to sit down and talk and we are not a socialist country. But Iran is a “tiny” nation that we don’t have to worry about. He and the leader of Iran have a lot in common. They both think they are their people’s saviour.
September 12th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Really, T. Mason? Because I see a lot more Republican figures, mainly religious right-wingers, claiming to be able to walk on water and calling for imprecatory prayers.
September 12th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
“…this is borderline treason…”
Only in a Stalinist state.
“Its no longer just talk…since youre an expert…”
Alan’s not an expert just because you say he is.
“What a cruel lesson you gave them, telling them the US President during wartime lied to them…”
I’m overwhelmed by your compassion.
“…the liklihood of you partaking in treason is like a young George Washington standing next to the cherry tree…”
Washington torched Manhattan in retreating from the British, after being prohibited from doing so, and then he lied about doing it. How’s that for treason?
September 12th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Haven’t seen any Republican have someone from their party actually compare them to Christ, or compare their opponent to Pontious Pilate. Nor have I seen any of them construct a Greek temple from which to speak to the masses.
The stage at the DNC was good enough for the lion, Senator Kennedy, and for obama’s former opponent, Hillary Clinton (who should be the lady running in the top spot) and even Bill Clinton…. but that stage wasn’t good enough for He who shall deliver us all.
Maybe what offends and scares you the most is the fact that those prayers might actually work?
September 12th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Dear Alan, Why doesn’t someone get the Navy JAG records on the Forrestal fire. During the investigation, one admiral thought some people should be questioned and 20 were but no names were ever made public. Some crewmen blamed McCain for that because they said he wet-started his plane. All planes were loaded with heat seeking bombs and McCain’s plane was the one hit. You’d have to go through the Freedom of Information Act and the JAG reported that all names were placed in their “long term storage.” If McCain is innocent, wouldn’t they want to release this to exonerate him; however, I think you might find that his Adm.father had the records destroyed.
Keep at it!

Sarah -
“imprecatory prayers”? Christians do not pray for curses.
September 12th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Just more evidence of her lack of understanding regarding international issues.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Wanna talk about a lack of understanding of international issues? Let’s talk about how Obama believes Iran is small and not an issue, or how we are going to decrease military spending, and decrease funding for our missile defense systems?
Maybe it is a “good” idea to stop production of nuclear weapons and get rid of the ones we have since China, Iran, Russia, and so many others who do not have our best interests at heart already have them or are close to having them.
Maybe his latest comment about 8,000 troops coming home will make sense. He was upset that more weren’t coming home, but then turned around and said we needed to send MORE to Afghanistan. You can’t have it both ways.
Better yet, why don’t we all just sit around a campfire, “talk” out our issues and sing kumbaya with our enemies? maybe they won’t bomb, nuke, or decapitate us in the process.
Now THAT’S understanding foreign policy….right?
September 13th, 2008 at 7:31 am
That’s because, T. Mason, liberals prefer to achieve peace with other nations and withold war as a last resort.
Peace brother.
September 13th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Sorry Bradley, Alan didn’t proclaim, as an expert that there is not and never was any link between Saddams Irak and the 9/11 terrorists , it was the 9/11 Commission that claimed that.
Sorry but to be accurate (which is anathema to your liberals’ arguments) but certain left wing liberal fringe wacko’s who were at the 911 commission may have said no connection; They may have said no top level operational planning was driven from Irak as far as we can tell.
The only links are that a few terrorist leaders were in Irak doing something, and its assumed Saddam was ok with that, as Saddam had said he wants to launch attacks on the USA. IOW some involvement or harboring of terrorists prior to 9/11.
But nowhere is it claimed that the strategy for 9/11 was controlled fully in Irak.
Its amazing how treasonous some of you liberals are, to say so boldly that your hero, Saddam was innocent and such a great, truthful man, so upstanding and honorable? (which is stupid so far) but to then say the sitting US President lied and launched an illegal war against the benevolent, peaceful Irak for no apparent reason? oh wait, just to invade and steal the oil?
You have a duty and obligation to check out those claims. babbling idiots or delusional lunatics may spout such idiocy, but for otherwise rational people on the political left to say such things when its easy to find out the facts? this shows an intent, a bias, a motivation against the USA.
Alan Colmes is an expert on such news and on current events. His employment requires he be what? stupid and uninformed? does Alan have any clue about current events? does he question guests on the show at all? I think so. Common sense says Alan is an expert, and he personally meets with all kinds of leaders and other experts to discuss current events.
For Alan to say, or for a congress person to say “no wmd in Irak” or “Bush lied” when they are in a position to be informed and they know the claims are false? As experts this is far into the territory of treason.
We need a modern day Joe McCarthy and to hold McCarthy hearings to find traitors in our midst, and the USA needs to then carry out capital punishment, execution, on those found guilty of the most serious offenses. Just like it was for most of Americas existence
September 13th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Eric “US Army is being used as a tool by our government in a war that was predicated on a lie. You enjoy the nation you belong to engaging in dishonest and illegal acts?”
how would you know? what lie? its always about some lie, what lie? a lie has some specificity, it must be said by someone, so who and when, about what?
the nation doesnt engage in such verbs, people do. I supported a full invasion strike force into Irak as of December 2002, it was a mistake to wait until March 2003 to invade.
Knowing everything I know now about the details of Saddam and Irak? I would still have demanded the USA invade Irak. it was the right decison.
I tell others from my own knowledge and experience. not from exposure to right wing blogs. and typically most right leaning places are desparately afraid of hearing anything but their own opinion. I disagree with the far right fringe kook conservatives on several big issues. Like Ive supported McCains stand on immigration, the far right wing is flat wrong. If the USA, Canada and Mexico form a trade alliance or NAU? this is a very good thing and I fully support it. the far right wing is delusionally wrong on the NAU.
the far right only likes the war because their answer to what they dont like is to attack or punish it. islamic radicals? attack and punish them. illegal immigrant families? attack and punish them. higher taxes? attack and punish them. wrong color flowers? attack and punish them.
Im sick of offering informed and correct viewpoints only to have right wing blogs delete my comments or kick me out for being confrontational.
so why dont YOU go to those right wing blogs?
September 13th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
The “far right” is a phantom that doesn’t have any significance
The far left however has major influence and like bradley said, it’s abysmmially uninformed about who are our enemies are.
I want to know what the “requirements” are to be on a Fox Show because Alan certainly has no idea what he’s talking about.. and refuses to learn. Steve Emerson comes on time and time again , educating the public on the dangers of Islam in America, and Alan , each time, acts as if all of this is new to him
how can someone be exposed to so much information, from peopel who are the best at what they do, and remain competely clueless?
September 13th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Vince I think its partly how the left sees the world, without a God.
So since the left says there is NO God, any bible or Christian religion should stay out of schools, govt, public display, etc. because this God thing interferes with the elite leftist view of philosophy, their generic replacement for religion.
Not sure what the thing is, but utopia is where everyone is happy? so terrorists are simply unhappy. The Bush admin and war hawks only want to keep terrorists unhappy by this war and fighting. Jimmy Carter had it right by just surrendering and giving them cash or whatever they want, then they will be happy.
September 13th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
the far right? just to randomly pick some media person, Michael Savage is a fool with a radio show, he is demented and would qualify to be mentally disabled, impaired, sick, whatever.
The nonsense trash he spouts at times is not pro American. Rarely he says something worthwhile, most of the time its psychotic
People in general who claim that Savage should be president are probably on the far fringe kook right.
Another person in right wing talk radio who has gone deep into dementia world, the formerly bright Mark Levin. Sadly he is no longer mainstream conservative, assuredly NOT Republican. What he says these days has no significance.
so there is a far right, they were organized in 2006 telling everyone NOT to vote in Republicans, so Nancy Pelosi could win, ruin the economy and likely stop the war so terrorists could take over then the far kook right could say see? now you have to elect us or keep the democrat majority.
The far kook conservative fringe wacko crackpot right wing traitors are the ones who refused to vote GOP, to make a point about immigration, dubai ports, spending, Harriet Miers and other things. duhhhh lets conservatives done stay’s at home and nots vote’s for none of thems republicans, acause they is not… uhhh something, they’s aints doin the thing they is suppose a be doin. So we’s dumb stupid conservatives gonna… duhhh stays home and not vote for them republicans…. duhhh pass the moonshine, Cletus!
the far right fringe conservatives are the ones who gave us “House Speaker Pelosi”. Thanks alot, BASTARDS!
September 13th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
TDRO,
You can’t acheive peace when the other guy wants you dead. Peace can only come when both sides are rational and WANT peace. Islamic fundamentalists do not want peace, they want jihad as they have proven.
The moment we lose our will to fight is the moment we lose our freedom.
