McCain Hispanic Community Liaison Removed For Racial Comments
Didi Lima, the GOP communications director for Clark County, Nevada, and Hispanic community liaison for the McCain campaign, lost her job Saturday after saying the Democratic Party made blacks “dependent on the government.” And that’s not all she said.
“We don’t want (Hispanics) to become the new African-American community,” Lima said. “And that’s what the Democratic Party is going to do to them: create more programs and give them handouts, food stamps and checks for this and checks for that. We don’t want that.”
“I’m very much afraid that the Democratic Party is going to do the same thing that they did with the African-American culture and make them all dependent on the government and we don’t want that,” she said.
This follows the resignation of Fernando C de Baca, a New Mexico Republican county chairman, who was forced out of his position after saying that Hispanics wouldn’t vote for Obama because they “consider themselves above blacks.”

I guess I don’t know why it would surprise us that someone from the GOP would say something so outrageous. It’s about getting your name in the paper. She probably feels like she may have an opportunity to be VP in a few years. Seeing that the criteria has been reduced making statements that don’t make any sense let alone don’t require any truth.

The stupidity of these people amazes me. Black people are less than 13% of the population in America. White women and children make up the majority of welfare recipients. Last time i checked the stats from the department of health and human resources there were less than 10 million people receiving welfare. 37% of those are white and 33% of those are black. Hispanics, asians and others, make up the rest, although the number of hispanics on welfare is growing. This means that out of 40 million or so black people in america, less than 5 million receive some type of assistance, meaning the overwhelming majority of black people do not receive welfare, although the 33% figure does mean that they are overrepresented. I mean, with widespread internet access, it would seem that factchecking wouldn’t be so hard, and spreading ignorance wouldn’t be so easy, but i guess it’s easier to blame blacks for every conceivable ill.

UM CARA: I am 97% convinced to vote for Hussein Obama, based on leftist mud slinging. I just need to see some of Obama’s accomplishments and voting record listed to finalize my decision. I have searched this fine site and cannot find one thing Obama has accomphished in his career of job hopping. Can you please recommend some sources with positive facts on Obama, not just negative opinions on Palin? I mean McCain, of course.

Is she talking about some of the same people who keep jumping our borders, and spitting out “anchor” babies that make them eligible to receive the same “handouts” that she’s accusing blacks of getting?
How dare she claim a WHOLE group of people are dependent upon the government when anyone with GOOD sense knows you have your slackers in EVERY group of people.

Before we came into the good ol’ U.S.A, we came up through South & Central America! Check Mexico’s History and you will see they owned us just like their white counterparts!!!!!!

I think there is a lot of truth to her statement. I’ve been in the car business for 5 years, three of those years I’ve spent in finance. The majority of the black people applying for loans that I’ve been in contact with draw some type of government check. Most of the time it’s SSI, which is disability. Besides the SSI there is also section 8 housing, Disability for their children (which doesn’t make sense because I’m pretty sure 6 year old kids haven’t yet paid taxes), Social Security, FIA, Cash assistance etc. I’m not saying every black person draws a government check but it sure seems like a lot of them do. And it’s ridiculouse to riddicule a person with the guts to actually speak up about it.

Nick, you’re probably selling those “used” cars that already have 100,000 miles on them. You’ll be surprised to know that Americans of European descent receive the most SSI, the most Social Security because the life expectancy of blacks is shorter and therefore they draw fewer checks, and more Welfare. Black Americans are only 12% of the population. Out of nearly 300 million americans, black people represent less than 40million americans. You are correct when you say not every black person draws a government check, and even more correct when you say white americans draw the majority of checks, and absolutely brilliant when you do your research, google a little bit and discover that the majority of african americans receive no check at all. She should be fired from any job dealing with public policy.

Awful progressive of you to admit that not EVERY black person is eating the government cheese. But you seem to be extrapolating across a pretty wide population by the experience you have had in one car lot. Maybe your car lot is near public housing. Maybe your car lot sells lower priced used cars which would be the type someone on a government check might be able to afford. But as Sepia has pointed out, your conclusions based on your observations do not represent the truth of the black population as a whole.
I work with a lot of black people. None of them are drawing government checks. Would it make sense for me to assume that since the black people I know don’t draw government checks, no black people draw government checks?
Your anecdotal data, even if not skewed by personal prejudice, is meaningless in making a conclusion about the population as a whole.
I would also have to second Sepia’s opinion that this person not be employed in a position dealing with public policy. I disagree with your assertion that Ms. Lima is unworthy of ridicule. I stand by my own assertion that Ms. Lima is a doofus.

FYI..people of Latin heritage do not appreciate being called Hispanics. It is a word that infers that we are the property of the Spanish. Mexicans are not Hispanics, neither are Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians and so forth. Wake up and read America.

I posted my last comment before reading all of the previous posts. It is a waste of energy to attempt to tell the undereducated what they will never understand. Ignorance is bliss. Bliss means happiness, by the way. It is the simple people of White America that McCain hopes to appeal to, it is his reasoning behind Palin aka “..Joe 6-Pack..”
Lets face it..Simple White America does not have the itelligence, the conviction, or the curiousity to learn more. Liberal is the word used to describe those who find logic and historical fact to be more relevant than blind trust. It is the opposite of Conservative that refers to those that clutch to the coattails of others for their knowledge. It is easier to have someone feed you then for you to fend for self. I am not as appalled as most to read the racist opinions noted here, at its core is the basic human emotion–envy.
Since the beginning of this country, Simple White America has been taking advantage of those who are stronger, wiser, faster, and just all around better. Now that’s racism on my part. And I have no problem with that, be who you want to be but make sure that you can back that up with more than your hurt feelings. That’s right, Simple White America, no one cares if you lost your job to a Black person, or if your wife left you or if your business is crumbling. Grow up!!
A couple of fun facts…Lima is a person of Latin descent, the people you voted into control have raised your taxes, taken your children down the road of war, and turned their backs on your needs.
