Palin Becoming McCain’s Hit Person
John McCain, who has claimed he would conduct a decent campain, is apparently using Sarah Palin to do the dirty work he originally said wouldn’t be a part of his quest for the presidency. For example, during a town hall meeting in Louisiana in July, McCain, while trying to get Obama to join him in town hall meetings, proclaimed:
Senator Obama, truly has the opportunity to embrace a new kind of politics, by committing to participate in these history making meetings. And join in the higher level of discourse that Americans obviously would clearly prefer. My friends, we’re the world’s leader. And leaders don’t hide from history, they make history.
But if we’re going to lead, we have to begin by reforming the tenor of political discussion in our campaigns. Only then, will the American people trust that we can reform a government, that as you know, lost its ability to do so.
However, both in the debate with Joe Biden and in a subsequent interview with Fox News’ Carl Cameron, Palin pushed the idea that Barack Obama’s comments on the war in Afghanistan should disqualify him from seeking the presidency.
“Some of his comments that he has made about the war that I think may – in my world- disqualifies someone from consideration as the next commander in chief.” Palin said, “Some of his comments about Afghanistan and what we are doing there supposedly- just air raiding villages and killing civilians. That’s reckless.
This is what Obama said in August, 2007 in Nashua, NH:
“We’ve got to get the job done there. And that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there.”
What’s being ignored here is that at the time of Obama’s remark (a) There had been more civilian casualties caused by western forces than by insurgents and (b) President Bush concurred with what Obama said, expessing concerns about these civilian deaths.
As of Aug. 1, the AP count shows that while militants killed 231 civilians in attacks in 2007, Western forces killed 286. Another 20 were killed in crossfire that can’t be attributed to one party.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai expressed his concern about the civilian deaths during a meeting last week with President Bush.
Bush said he understands the agony that Afghans feel over the loss of innocent lives and that he is doing everything he can to protect them. He said the Taliban are using civilians as human shields and have no regard for their lives.
“The president rightly expressed his concerns about civilian casualty,” Bush said of Karzai. “And I assured him that we share those concerns.”

That headline needs a little adjustment, Alan :)

Well stated, Alan…but, head for the bomb shelter, lad…..the incoming has already been announced by the McCain camp. Their bombers are taxiing ready for takeoff.
It is a sad commentary on the state of a capmpaign when all that is left is mud, smears, inuendo, lies, rumors, and unsubstantioned accusations(sp). As polls further favor Obama, I fully expect the manure to hit the fan. Fox just reported that Palin is vomiting association and patriotism. Sad. They truly believe that people will like it. Another example of poor judgement.
October 4th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
bob,
You don’t think the liberal MSM and the far left has slung enough mud at Governor Palin her family and Senator McCain?
October 4th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
“You don’t think the liberal MSM and the far left has slung enough mud at Governor Palin …”
No let’s sling some more.
“…leaders don’t hide from history…”
You mean like Palin hiding from the media?
October 4th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Hiya T. The mud hasn’t stuck yet, but it’s still building up about the 5th child/1st grandchild story.
The family doctor Cathy Baldwin-Johnson has gone to ground and is refusing to answer questions, every medical professional agrees that the doctor should be struck off if she really did approve Palin’s actions, the birth record at the hospital has been deleted, there are no pictures of the birth… and Palin went to great pains denying widespread rumours that her daughter was pregnant in the weeks BEFORE she announced that she was herself.
Check for yourself… it’s a problem that only releasing the medical records can make go away. So why are the McCain camp ignoring the issue?
October 4th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
John,
I have no idea what you are talking about. But, Dr.’s can’t answer questions about patients I am sure you are aware of that.
October 4th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
They can if the patient OKs it. It’s worth taking a look for yourself – this will be an issue in the weeks to come.
October 4th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Gotta Love David Letterman…
yessiree, bippy, dooda
Just lie to Dave and you have made a friend for life.
McCain lied to him about his mission to “save” the economy…and now…
It’s open season on Deputy Dawg….er…Sarah Salin (Darth Vador’s other daughter)
VP Debate = Bad Play Date
October 4th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Maybe that’s all Palin knows is to be a hit person since she has very little knowlege on the policy’s of this country. Can’t you right winger see that palin only recites what has been rehersted. What is all this “gotta” and “doggonett” talk about especially from a potential VP so out of tune. She couldn’t answers the question on the debate without shifting to the energy policy. America is going to be the laughing stock to other countries if McSame is elected with his little unknowlegable puppet. Well with the 5th child/1st grandchild story, if true will be a nightmare. Why would the birth records be deleted?
October 4th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
I have read the blogs that claim she could be the grandmother. Honestly, I haven’t found an independent site.
If her daughter had a baby in April, and she is 5 months pregnant now that gives a very slim window for her to get pregnant again….and that is very rare.
October 4th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
ps…a mavarick was a bad running Ford product that still can be seen in some of the finer junkyards near you. It was notorious for having bad interior, a poor transmission, and an engine that missed a lot…..hmmmmmmmmmmm so, when they say they are mavericks……
October 4th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Fact: Sarah had the kid. Sarah’s daughter is pregnant, but a novie at it.
October 4th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Larry Flynt announced he’s making a porn movie with a Sarah Palin look-alike. John McCain called the idea offensive; Barack Obama called it inappropriate, and Bill Clinton said he’ll reserve judgment until he sees the film.
October 4th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Fact: Sarah is a moron and a dumb @ss. No one with half a brain should listen to Palin the Parrot. Polly wants a cracker!
October 4th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Tim,
She has accomplished more than most people will in their lifetime. She is running for national office.
October 4th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
John McCain needs to forget about running a campain of a “higher level of discourse”, and start following the lead of the liberals such as those of this blog, and smear, smear, smear. They can start with Obama’s Muslim religion and work up from there. I urge all conservatives, especially Christians, to elect Sarah Palin as Vice President. In four years she’ll run for the Presidency. ELECT SARAH PALIN.
October 4th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
When you build a house on the freeway, you shouldn’t be surprised when it’s hit by a truck.
“You don’t think the liberal MSM and the far left has slung enough mud at Governor Palin her family and Senator McCain?”
Do not mistake political sarcasm, humor-ladden commentary, and earnest (truthful) diagnosis(like the katie Curic “anger” provoking question…oh, please)of preposterous rationalization as mud slinging….mud slinging is calling Obama a Muslim Terrorist….now, that is mud…false, malicious, and with true intent to do harm based upon an unproven accusation.
October 4th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
When, since 2000 did John McCain run a campain of a “higher level of discourse”?
He just got the same people who smeared him in 2000, to do to Obama what they did to him.
October 4th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Right on, OLDLEFTY….
When the polls drop, get Karl’s kids to do the dirty work….
Too bad the “Plumbers” aren’t around…the McCain campaign would snatch em up…er…oh,they work on talk radio these days????? oh….well….Maybe they can use undercover techniques from the guys in Reagon’s administration who stealthly sold weapons for hostages…er…oh…they’re talk show people, too?
Wow, McCain’s gotta rely on a whole new batch of crooks.
October 4th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
I just read that Katies Restaurant has existied since the ’80’s. That is so friggin’ funny. Biden just keeps putting them out there…and that bit about Home Depot…priceless!
Do you want someone that delusional to be next in line?

Obama to give away our tax money–Larry Leff
By: Larry Leff October 01, 2008
Email to a friend Voice your opinion
For those of you who are not familiar with The Global Poverty Act, of which Barack Obama is the lead sponsor, it is a tax on Americans which will total $845 billion (this is 0.7 percent of the Gross National Product). I doubt you will ever hear this discussed in any debates.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, our current population is 305,154,108 with 111,162, 259 U.S. households. If G.P.A. is enacted, our cost will be $2,800 per person or $7,800 per household.
Here is a condensed explanation of the G.P.A. (along with some of the Millennium Development Goals. The entire provisions are accessible online by typing in Global Poverty Act 2007 into the Google search engine.):
G.P.A. directs the president to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the U.S. foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people who live on less than $1 per day.
G.P.A. is required to incorporate specific and measurable goals and to consist of specified components, including: 1) continued investment or involvement in existing U.S. initiatives related to international poverty reduction and trade preference programs for developing countries; 2) improving the effectiveness of development assistance and making available additional overall United States assistance levels as appropriate; 3) enhancing and expanding debt relief as appropriate; 4) mobilizing and leveraging the participation of businesses and public-private partnerships; 5) coordinating the goal of poverty reduction with other internationally recognized Millennium Development Goals; and 6) integrating principles of sustainable development (this has a direct tie to the U.N. Agenda 21) and entrepreneurship into policies and programs.
Listed here are some of the Millennium Development Goals for you to ponder: 1) a “standing peace force,” (a U.N. standing army-I wonder where the vast majority of soldiers will come from?); 2) A U.N. arms register of all small arms and light weapons (NRA members will love this one); 3) peace education (covering all levels from pre-school to university level); and 4) political control of the global economy. The goals also require implementation of all U.N. treaties that the United States has never ratified. These sound like more Big Brothers taking over at a global level-just a thought.
I do not believe it is the responsibility of American taxpayers to reduce world poverty. We have more than our share of poor and underprivileged in our own country that we cannot get out of poverty, how can we do it worldwide? None of this $845 billion is dedicated to the poor in the United States. America already gives enormous amounts of aid to impoverished countries whose leaders (dictators) probably never distribute the aid. Who do you think will disperse this money? Obama is about taxes, socialism and giving away our sovereignty. Obama is not a good choice for America.

Majority of Congress Democratic with President Obama.
When you lose this election, who’s the next Republican leader? Doesn’t look like there’s one now. How will that change for you ignorant bigots?
October 4th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Careful Palin, folks are going to have trouble seeing you as a victim of the mean left if you go on the attack!
(and Joel, really, please knock it off with the banning vnce thing.)
October 4th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
The incumbent party is shambles. And the swing is toward that other of the two parties. So out with the Republicans, in with the Democrats.
This isn’t stopping John McCain from trying his damnest. So the next four weeks are going to be painful. More so for McCain and Sarah Palin than Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
October 4th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
UM CARA,
I don’t support Obama & Biden, or John McCain. However, Sarah Palin makes the McCain ticket the lesser of two evils. Sarah Palin will make a great Vice President, and the top republican contender for the Presidency in 2012. I hope McCain lets his “pit bull in lipstick” loose on Obama & Biden. There’s plenty of rotten meat on the both of them for her to sink her incisors into. All of you liberals know this and she scares the hell out of you, and I just love it. Even P. Diddy is quivering and quaking under his bedsheets. What a putz. It’s time to do what you, and the liberal smear merchant machine does. Go get them Sarah, and bite them both in the ass and lets watch both of them cry foul like the wimpering babies that they are. Besides, I want to see bad ass P. Diddy cry in his soup. ELECT SARAH PALIN VICE PRESIDENT TODAY FOR THE PRESIDENCY TOMORROW.
October 4th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Fox News is running the VP debate again, so we can all watch Biden stutter through it laughingly one more time.
Fox also ran a special report about how the Democratic Party allowed Fannie May and Freddie Mac to run amuck, and how they blackmailed gutless Republicans to accept this Trillion Dollar giveaway. To start with, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Ried and other Democrats should be arrested and prosecuted for treason for their involvement in this fiasco, followed by all those gutless Republicans for letting Pelosi bamboozle them with blackmail, and went along with this bundle of corruption. The only fresh new face with a strong promising future in this election circus isn’t Obama, the antichrist of America, it is Sarah Palin. Christians and Conservatives need to rise up against the cowardice, and godlessness of liberalism and ELECT SARA PALIN VICE PRESIDENT TODAY FOR THE PRESIDENCY TOMORROW.
October 4th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Sarah Palin is living proof that their are those who who are grounded in Christian American moral principles, values, and dignity who have political aspirations with respect for our Constitution to keep our country great. It’s time to also consider limiting the terms of office of all government positions. Bidens 36 years is absolutely rediculous, and criminal. The President only has two terms. Why should anyone else have more?
October 4th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Sarah and Todd Palin should be thrown in jail for not complying with the authorities. The average joe six-pack would have been carted off to jail at this point.
Goes to show how much the Palin’s value our Constitution.
October 4th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
About those per diem payments to Palin….aren’t they considered taxable income?
October 4th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Tim,
The trouble with you Tim is this. If Sarah broke any law, don’t you think under the current Democratic stronghold in our country, that she would be arrested already? Nice try numbnuts. Thank GOD for Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck and all the other talk show hosts who expose the truth. Even the New York Times is beginning to expose the truth about your candidate, the antichrist of America, Obama, and his minion in corruption “say it aint so Joe”. Maybe the New York Times realizes that jounalists should be unbiased, and to thoroughly investigate the truth to bring back the dignity and respect that the American free press was founded on, and to ignore lame ducks such as yourself who spew the filth without knowing the facts. All of this may be a little too much for a little mind such as yours to grasp, but give it a try anyway Tim.
October 4th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Yep, right on target, here come the Republican scumbags led by Sarah “Ice water in my veins” Palin.
It worked every other election, but not this time.

Only…this time our news cycle and the knowledge base of the internet users doesn’t fit the Republican “grow the mushroom vote” approach to negative campaigning. Ask Norm Coleman about the affect of negative campaigning. It is a foretelling of the results one might anticipate.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Oh, and why is the judiciary in Alaska rejecting Republican efforts to killt the investivation into the abuse of power by a certain governor? You see, truth isn’t smear…it’s truth. It’s always the attempt to cover up that causes problems.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
The Alan Colmes Network, Fox News is running their report right now Tim. Watch it and you might learn something, or ignore it and continue in your liberal ignorance.

Here’s an unintelligent question for most of you. If there’s a credit crunch as we’ve all been told, why do most of us still have our credit cards? I’ve just purchased a piece of property to build a new home. I’ll need a small mortgage. I bet I’ll get it too. Anyone care to make a bet?
October 4th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
You better talk to a gambler….like McCain.
Or, you could ask the “Not ready for prime time” VP candidate that is afraid of NBC’s Meet The Press, CBS’s Face The Nation, or ABC’s This Week, or any other commonly referred to as “normal” major venue. Sean Hannity’s softballing Sarah was a waste of breath. Charlie and Katie were even pretty light on challenging her…even though Sarah tries to pawn it off on a pitiful excuse. If she is the attack dog, send her into an arena worthy of challenge, not the preset message delivery set up in her campaign settings.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
As far as the credit crunch. You may be one of the 6 out of 10 who will not be affected directly. Rather than being flip, you might consider yourself truly lucky for being in that position. I will pray that you keep your financing and get your lot for a new home. I also hope this thing is over by the time your kids, who may not have the same fine credit history as yourself, attempt to buy their first home.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Here’s a little truth to chew on. Millionaire real estate speculators took advantage of the no down payment mortgages to avoid using their own money. They are the primary cause of the forclosure crisis. They drove up the real estate prices, but built more homes than they could sell. Since they didn’t invest their own money, they could afford to take the losses without being hurt financially through foreclosure. So they just simply let it go, and turned their speculator talents loose on oil. Our brilliant liberal Democratic controlled government has just agreed to give these same speculators a trillion dollars to drool over, and the speculators can’t wait to pounce on it, and you’ll have to cover their pocketbooks with higher taxes. We’ve had a national debt in the trillions for years. Funny how the liberal Democratically controlled government could come up with a sum of a trillion in a week for their fans, but can’t find enough for the debt. HMMMMMMM!

This guy seems to have the facts at his fingertips – his references are listed at the end of the piece. It’s too big to post all at once, so I’ll serialize it :)
Top Ten Clues in the “Who is Trig’s Mother” Mystery
We can agree that the actions of politician’s children, good or bad, per se, should not be part of a political dialogue. However, when a politician engages in unethical practices that involve their own children, certainly that needs to be part of the political dialogue. For example, if a politician is using his young son to collect bribes, we certainly cannot say that the bribery issue should not be part of the political dialog because the politician’s son is involved. In this case, if Sarah Palin has pretended that Bristol Palin’s daughter is her own daughter, and has used it unethically for political advantage, it is certainly a legitimate issue. This does not in any way reflect badly on her daughter and nobody can claim that her daughter did anything wrong in this case. If it is true, it is the mother who has acted deceptively and unwisely.
If true, it also does give us important clues to her potential performance as a vice president. If she did hide her daughter’s pregnancy, it is far more likely that as vice-president she will hide embarrassing facts ins tead of honestly admitting them.
It is important that we clear up the mystery with real facts. Sarah Palin, whatever we may think of her politics, which many regard as Neanderthal, is a charming, funny and talented woman. Irregardless of several scandals, one can even admit that she did not do a bad job as governor for the past twenty months.
Hopefully, she will be exonerated of the suspicions many people have about her actions in this case. Still, voters need to know the truth to make an informed decision about her before giving her their vote for the office of the vice-presidency.
These are the some of the most important facts/clues that lead many people to conclude that Bristol Palin is the mother of Trig:
10. No Announcement of Trig’s Birth at Matsu Hospital
9. No Witnesses at Hospital
8. No Baby Pictures of Birth
7. Extraordinary Risks and A Doctor’s Responsibility
6. A Doctor’s Specialty: Teenagers in Trouble
5. The Invisible Pregnancy or “Where are You Carrying This Baby? In Your Pocket?”
4. The Daughter Disappears From School
3. Five Months: Perfect Timing to Confuse the Issue
2. Bristol Under the Bus
1. Accumulation of evidence.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
10. No Announcement of Trig’s Birth at Matsu Hospital
Two births are announced at Matsu hospital for April 18th, 2008, but neither of them Sarah Palin’s. Palin announced that the baby was born there the following morning. One would imagine that the hospital would be happy to list the birth of the governor’s daughter at their hospital. We cannot think of any reason why Palin would not want it announced officially on their website, unless Bristol was the actual mother who gave birth.[2]
October 4th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
9. No witnesses at hospital
Jennifer Krueger and Daylen Davison of Wasilla gave birth to a child on April 18th at Matsu hospital. In both a Washington Post[3] story and a New York Times[4] article, they appear to be misquoted that they saw Sarah Palin pregnant that night. They are quoted saying just the opposite in a later online blog article that checked out the newspaper accounts:
“We never saw Sarah before the delivery,” said Davison. “I did see her a couple of days after and she didn’t look like someone who’d just had a baby… I was the one pacing around trying to induce labor,” said Krueger. “We saw Todd in the hall, not Sarah.[5]”
So the mainstream media have given two false witness reports in the Washington Post and New York Times, but no true witness reports. A governor gives birth to a one month premature baby with Down Syndrome and no witnesses can be found? Where are they and why have none of them spoken up?
October 5th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Mr. Blaire,
Luck has nothing to do with this mess. It’s called simple mathematics, and financial responsibility. There’s no excuse for ignorance and stupidity. Of course liberals like yourself find difficulty understanding that. Financial ignorance and stupidity is allowing more money to go out than you have comming in. It doesn’t take an Einstien to figure it out does it Blair?
October 5th, 2008 at 12:01 am
8. No Baby Pictures or Video at Birth
Regarding the birth day, it is strange that no pictures of the birth have been released. An article in People magazine describes the birth and all three daughter and the father being there, yet the magazine does not publish any pictures taken at the time of the birth. Today, almost every proud parent has pictures or videos taken of the birth of their child. Proud parents often put them online for family and friends to download. It is very unusual that no pictures have been released.[6]
The one picture of Todd and Sarah holding Trig that has circulated widely was taken April 23rd when Trig was five days old.[7] Another earlier picture with Sarah Palin dressed in red and Todd Palin holding Trig appears to be from April 21st, three days after the birth.8
October 5th, 2008 at 12:02 am
Speaking of Einstiens, heeeeeeeeeeeres Mr. McKee.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:03 am
7. Extraordinary Risks and A Doctor’s Responsibility
Sarah Palin had three high risk factors in her alleged pregnancy – 1) she was 43 years old, 2) she was giving birth to a baby that she claims she knew had Down Syndrome, and 3) she was giving birth one month early. She claims her water broke (leaking amniotic fluids) at 4 A.M. She apparently wanted to give a speech at Noon that day to a Republican Governors conference on energy being attended by six Republican governors. (Incidentally no pictures or videos of this conference have been released). It is unbelievable that her doctor would allow her to give the speech and not advise her to go to a NICU, neonatal intensive care unit, equipped hospital in Dallas, Texas[9] under these circumstances.
In the account released three days later, Palin contradicts herself. She says that she was not in labor in Texas, but then the article says that when Palin contacted her doctor, “Palin said she felt fine but had leaked amniotic fluid and also felt some contractions that seemed different from the false labor she had been having for months.”
In other words, according to Palin, she was reporting to her doctor that she was in real labor. Under these circumstances, it is unbelievable that a doctor would allow her to give her speech and then catch two airplane flights, each around four hours, to get back to Alaska. The doctor and Palin had no way of knowing that Palin would not give birth in the air during the flight, deeply endangering the life of her child and causing problems for the other passengers.
The Matsu Hospital does not have facilities for handling premature babies. Hospitals in Texas and Anchorage, where she landed do have such facilities.
Carol Roye, a professor of Nursing and Public Health, writes this:
When the blogosphere filled with stories that Palin was Trig’s grandmother, not his mother, why didn’t she just ask her doctor, Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, to back up her story and save Bristol the embarrassment? Well, for one thing, Dr. Baldwin-Johnson may be MIA. Her name no longer appears on the website of the Mat-su Regional Medical Center where Gov. Palin is purported to have delivered Trig. And, there is no record of the baby’s birth there. Of course, Dr. Baldwin-Johnson does not want to be found. If she had really told this 44 year-old mother with pre-term, premature rupture of membranes to get on a plane and fly 4000 miles, she could lose her license. That would be malpractice. And Palin says she called the doctor from Seattle to check in. Do you think that Dr. Baldwin-Johnson could do an internal exam via the phone to see how dilated the Governor was? It is preposterous.[10]
October 5th, 2008 at 12:04 am
6. A Doctor’s Speciality: Teenagers in Trouble
Governor Palin’s announcement of her appointees to the Alaska Health Care Strategies Planning Council says this about Dr. Baldwin Johnson[11]:
Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson of Wasilla is a private practice family physician and the 2002 National Family Physician of the Year from the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 1999, Baldwin-Johnson co-founded and is the volunteer medical director of The Children’s Place, and since 2005 has served as a consultant and trainer on child abuse issues. Baldwin-Johnson graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine where she participated in the WWAMI Medical School program.
Dr. Baldwin-Johnson is a family-practitioner. On Oct. 1, 2001, Baldwin-Johnson was named the 2002 Family Physician of the Year by the American Academy of family Physicians.
She was apparently both the regular doctor of Trig’s mother and the delivering doctor of Trig. Checking Matsu Hospital records, the only hospital that she is affiliated with, we find that Dr. Baldwin-Johnson delivered only three babies in the previous eighteen months: on Feb. 7 2008[12], Oct 3, 2007[13], March 17,2007. In all three cases, she was not the mother’s physician. There are two cases listed where Baldwin-Johnson was the mother’s doctor, but not the delivering physician: Dec. 18, 2006[14], and Jan 27, 2008[15]. There was not a single time during the prior eighteen months that Doctor Baldwin-Johnson delivered one of her own patient’s babies at Matsu Hospital; three times she delivered other doctors’ patient’s babies, and twice other doctors delivered her patient’s babies. Thus delivering her own patient’s baby was an unusual event, rather than a normal one for Dr. Baldwin-Johnson.
Dr. Baldwin-Johnson is the founder and volunteer medical director of the Children’s Place, an agency for children who have been victims of physical or sexual abuse[16]. She is frequently quoted for her views on this subject.
“If you don’t know accurately where you are starting from, you can’t measure accurately whether what you do makes a difference,” said Cathy Baldwin-Johnson , a doctor who chairs a task force that tries to improve the state’s response to child abuse, particularly sexual abuse. She also is medical director of Alaska CARES, a clinic that provides exams and helps investigate sexual abuse[17].
About a year earlier, Baldwin-Johnson wrote an article that was published in the Anchorage Daily News defending privacy rights of rape victims:
Today’s media play a strong role in creating community awareness about child abuse and sexual violence. Publishing the private details of these crimes, however, risks re-victimizing the victim…
Police officers, advocates and medical providers all know of victims who attempted suicide after public disclosure of abuse. Some have died. Public curiosity should never outweigh the fragile mental health of someone who has been sexually victimized. The frequency of these crimes can breed indifference or numbness, but for each victim the pain is new, personal and deep. Disclosing a child victim’s identity can shatter their whole world…
It is up to the press to show restraint while fulfilling their journalistic responsibilities. This is not about censorship. It is about the respectful treatment of victims of violent crimes. No one has a right to victimize the victim further by publishing sensitive or identifying information…
Let’s resolve to leave out the graphic descriptions of sex acts and references to collateral information that can potentially identify crime victims. We lose nothing in public safety; we gain much when we grant dignity and privacy to those enduring legal proceedings as they recover their shattered lives.
The fact that Bristol was sixteen, unwed and about to give birth to a child would certainly qualify her as a victim of sexual abuse. Legally, if Levi Johnson was 17 at the time, he cannot be legally prosecuted for statutory rape. If he was 18 at the time (Aug. 2007) then he could be. In any case, as the governor’s daughter, one can imagine the things that would be written about her in such a situation in newspapers throughout the state. Did Dr. Baldwin-Johnson possibly see herself as protecting the privacy rights of a sixteen year-old sexual abuse victim in this case?
In the case of Bristol being the mother, it would seem more probable that Dr. Baldwin-Johnson, a specialist in teen-ager pregnancy-abuse problems, would participate exclusively as both primary health care provider and baby deliverer. This way Bristol could be sure that her “secret” would remain safe. On the other hand, given the increased risks for a pregnant woman over 40 and especially one having a baby diagnosed with Down Syndrome, it seems highly likely that she would recommend that an obstetrician deliver the baby. Since Palin’s pregnancy was not a secret, Baldwin-Johnson took a great and unnecessary risk. If something had gone wrong, she would have taken the blame for not recommending an obstetrician do the delivery.
Admittedly, we do not know the relationship between Palin and Dr. Baldwin-Johnson. It is certain that Palin did appoint Baldwin-Johnson to a state commission and recommend her for an award. She may have delivered Palin’s baby Piper. it is not impossible that Dr. Baldwin-Johnson would decide to deliver Sarah Palin under these circumstances, it is just decidedly more likely that she would decide to deliver Bristol Palin under such circumstances.
Incidentally, I have been unable to find any evidence that Dr. Baldwin-Johnson actually delivered Piper, as claimed by Sarah Palin.

“Our brilliant liberal Democratic controlled government has just agreed to give these same speculators a trillion dollars to drool over, and the speculators can’t wait to pounce on it,and you’ll have to cover their pocketbooks with higher taxes”
And you were doing so well in your post before that.
Under Barrak Obama’s administration, the taxes on the rich will help counter some of that profit taking by the speculators. However, there were many thousands of non speculators who have suffered because of the deregulation and lack of oversight. The national debt also is a function of the devaluated dollar, the trade deficit that has grown to gargantuan demensions, the “off the budget” expenditures for the Iraq war, and teh runaway republican congress until 2007 (the dems didn’t take over leadership…not dominance, leadership until January 2007), and the largest expansion of government (between 2000 and 2007) in the history of our country.
The interesting thing about distasteful legislation, the blame is a shared agreement between the parties. At least the dems kept their side of the agreement with the “leaders” of the republican caucus.

5. The Invisible Pregnancy or “Where are You Carrying This Baby? In Your Pocket?”
According to the Anchorage News of March 6th:
That the pregnancy is so advanced astonished all who heard the news. The governor, a runner who’s always been trim, simply doesn’t look pregnant. Even close members of her staff said they only learned this week their boss was expecting.
“I thought it was becoming obvious,” Palin said. “You know, clothes getting snugger and snugger.”
But people just couldn’t believe the news.[18] Her closest co-workers were “astonished”. According to the Anchorage News article, “She’s known as a fashion plate, but said she hasn’t been dressing differently to cover her barely perceptible bulge.” This contradicts the New York Times article of September 9th:
The governor, thin to begin with, began an elaborate game of fashion-assisted camouflage. When Vogue photographed her, five months pregnant, for a profile in January, she hid in a big green parka. At work, she wore long, loose blazers and artfully draped accessories.
“All of a sudden she had this penchant for really beautiful scarves,” recalled Angelina Burney, who works across the hallway from the governor in Anchorage.[19]
Was she trying to hide her pregnancy as the later N.Y. Times article states or was she not trying to hide her pregnancy as she stated on March 5th? Not only was she not showing pregnancy before the seventh month, apparently even on the day she gave birth she was not showing, On the flight home, “said spokeswoman Caroline Boren. Palin was very pleasant to the gate agents and flight attendants, as always, Boren said. “The stage of her pregnancy was not apparent by observation. She did not show any signs of distress,” Boren said.[20]
How invisible was Palin’s pregnancy? This is from an article in the Anchorage Daily News, March 12th, one week after Palin’s announcement, Elise Patkotak,, a woman writer in Anchorage:[21]
I know life is not necessarily fair, but this is ridiculous. I look more pregnant when I’m constipated- than Palin looks two months before delivery. Where is the fairness in that? I have friends who swear they looked more pregnant seven minutes after conception than she does now…
I will eventually get over the desire to stand up and scream at Sarah Palin , “Are you kidding me here? You’re seven months pregnant ? Where are you carrying this baby? In your pocket?”

4. The Daughter Disappears From School.
According to Time Magazine: Mark Okeson, the assistant principal at Wasilla High School, said (Bristol) started her junior year there last fall, in the town where Sarah Palin grew up, but Bristol transferred to an Anchorage high school mid-year.
“I never heard the story why,” he said Monday.[22]
It is odd that the governor of a state would transfer her daughter out of her high school in the middle of a year without giving an explanation as a curtesy.
After Palin was selected by McCain, many sites reported that Bristol had mononucleosis. The earliest report of this that I could find was from the site Talk.Politics.Misc.[23] In a post on August 29th, at 2:31 P.M., Mike Robets cites jibegod as stating four months earlier:
Palin’s daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.
Here is Jibegod’s full post which was apparently published online in March of 2008, a month before Trig’s birth:
On March 5th, 2008 Alaska’s Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44.
The controversy arises from two sources: First, Palin does not appear pregnant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months. While this is debatable, you can judge for yourself here: http://gov.state.ak.us/photos.php
Second, Palin’s daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.
Apparently, this rumor has made the rounds in the upper echelon of the Alaska legislature, and is a closely guarded secret. As far as I know, this rumor has not been discussed by any media outlets, in Alaska or otherwise.
The points here are based mostly upon hearsay, and I’m not trying to destroy an innocent family. However, a Republican politician hiding a pregnant teenage daughter seems rather newsworthy.[24]
According to Wikipedia[25] and flickr[26], Jibegod is an anthropology student from Anchorage. The important thing to note here is that the rumors of Bristol being pregnant already exist in March, before Trig’s birth in April. Governor Palin’s spokesperson, Bill McAllister confirms and adds to this in an Anchorage Daily News article by Kyle Hopkins:
McAllister was an Anchorage TV reporter before working for Palin. He said Palin once approached him – before people knew she was pregnant – assuming he’d been hearing rumors.
“She said it’s not true about Bristol,” McAllister said.
At the time, the rumor would have been that Palin’s daughter was pregnant.[27]
The reporter says that Palin approached him before people knew that she was pregnant. She announced March 4th. This means that in February or earlier, Sarah Palin was already aware of rumors that Bristol was pregnant and approached and told at least one newspaper reporter that they weren’t true.
This seems important. Palin was trying to stop rumors that her daughter Bristol was pregnant before she announced her own pregnancy.
It is now nine months since Bristol Palin left her school for unexplained reasons. Not a single reporter has even asked the simple question why?

You all are way to pre-occupied with the Baby issue. News flash women give birth all the time while holding jobs.
PS – The Attacks on Governor Palin are so petty and ridiculous that it only strengthens her. She has been attacked for Being a mom, wearing glasses, winking, not using the same political vocabulary as the Washington insiders, having an accent, being a soccer mom, being a christian, coming from a small town, for hogging up too much media time, simultaneously for hiding from the media, for being John McCains pitbull, for being too harsh, for being too soft, for having no foreign policy background, etc. Strangely enough every foreign leader she has met with has given her praise for sincerity and intelligence. Wow it must hurt you guys to hate this woman so much.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:10 am
Conservative,
You’ve just proven my point.
Your side is reduced to attacks on character because you have nothing to offer.
Continue your hate and vitriol…please.

3. Five Months: Perfect Timing to Confuse the Issue
After the controversy had emerged and began to be the most talked about topic on the internet about McCain’s choice for Vice-President, the campaign acted quickly. They announced that Bristol Palin was five months pregnant. If Bristol had been reported four months pregnant, there would still be the possibility that she was the mother and had gotten pregnant a short time after the birth. If they had announced that she was six months pregnant, people would have wondered that she was not showing signs of pregnancy. So five months was the perfect number – it made it appear impossible for Bristol to be Trig’s mother, while not needing to show signs of her current pregnancy.
If this was true, her examining doctor would have been brought forward to state the facts in the case or they could easily have released a sonogram picture with Bristol’s name on it. Now it is three weeks later, she is allegedly approaching six months pregnant. I am unable to find any recent pictures of Bristol on the internet.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:10 am
2. Bristol Under the Bus
Why Not Just Show the Birth Certificate and/or a Few Medical Records to End the Controversy. Why make an announcement that your unwed teenage daughter is five months pregnant? Once the first pregnancy rumors had been destroyed with real evidence, who would really believe the second pregnancy rumors. Nobody would have given credence to them and nobody would have asked about them.
Actually, if this wasn’t done to suppress the truth of Bristol’s birth of Trig, then we have to question what kind of a mother Sarah Palin is, as an article by teen magazine editor Bonnie Fuller does. She quotes another teen magazine editor in her article:
No wonder getting pregnant in high school is truly a girl’s worst nightmare, points out Atoosa Rubenstein, the founding editor-in-chief of CosmoGIRL! magazine, and later the editor of Seventeen magazine. Bristol Palin should have “the protection of her mother right now and not be paraded around as a platform. She should have had the privacy to make her own difficult choices and now she has to support her mother’s ambitions and policies regardless of what she wants for herself — she’s been thrown under a bus,” believes Rubenstein.[28]
It is simply hard to believe that Sarah Palin is that callous a mother that she would expose her child in this way. On the other hand, if she had already made the sacrifice of protecting Bristol by pretending to be Trig’s mother, it is understandable how she would consent to this type of exposure for her daughter.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:11 am
The whole debate about the Palin children is a distraction from the real issues of either campaign…or at least one of them. Let that Palin birth story go away and focus on the real issues of the campaign…it’s the economy, stupid.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:11 am
1. Accumulation of Evidence.
One is amazed at how simple this story would have been to stop, assuming Sarah is actually the mother. Instead of simply yanking her daughter from school in midyear without explanation, Palin could have given a reason to the principle. If she had mononucleosis, she could have said when they could expect her return. Instead of telling news reporters that her daughter wasn’t pregnant, she could have taken Bristol to her office one day and shown the reporters that she wasn’t pregnant. Instead of astonishing her colleagues by announcing she was pregnant without showing that she was the slightest bit pregnant, she could have worn something to show off her pregnancy. She could have visited a doctor in Dallas after she had gone into labor to make sure it was safe to give her speech that afternoon. She could have released pictures or videos of her speech that day to the Republican governors showing herself eight months pregnant and going into labor. She could have told the airlines that she was experiencing labor pains and might give birth on the airplane as any mildly sensible person would do. She could have had someone take a picture of Bristol, showing that she was not pregnant, holding the baby after it was delivered. She could have brought out a copy of the birth certificate instead of needlessly announcing Bristol’s pregnancy. At every turn, the simplest steps of bring forward evidence would have stopped the story. Instead, she tried to suppress it with anger and distractions.
Even the McCain campaign demand that she be treated with deference and not be asked questions about her family is extraordinary.
Sarah Palin will start giving interviews “when we think it’s time and when she feels comfortable doing it,” says McCain campaign manager Rick Davis. “Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children? Until we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference, I think it would be foolhardy to put her out into that kind of environment.[29]”
The news media has been asking political candidates questions about their family since the country began. This is the first time in history that the news media has been forbidden to ask such questions. How the Republican Party has intimidated the news media into being deaf and dumb on this issue is an interesting question that needs its own investigation.
When one takes into account the amount and totality of the evidence, one may conclude that it is overwhelmingly probable that Bristol and not Sarah is Trig’s mother. At this point, it is difficult to read the evidence any other way.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Wow – Bristol Palin may be a promiscuous tramp….. newsflash… go to EVERY highschool in america and you will find Promiscuos Tramps girls and boys. Conservatives and Liberals. Its a sign of the times folks…. get over it.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:13 am
Furry Puss – the story has zich to do with the kid’s promiscuity, but everything to do with the duplicity, lack of judgement and totally fugged-up character of a woman who could have her finger on the big red button a few months from now…
October 5th, 2008 at 12:18 am
John – Need we point out that Senator Obama himself asked that the children get left out of the politics. Governor Palin is under constant and full scrutiny by the press, she is far from getting a free pass. If there was substance to your claims the DNC investigators in Alaska will get to the bottom of it. Robert Blair is absolutly right about this being a distraction from the real issues.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:19 am
You are falling for the distraction tactic….don’t….it is mearly a way of diverting everyone from the real issues of the campaign. Don’t join the repubs in the mud…it is their natural turf, after all, and their advantage.

Blaire,
I’m not rich, and I probably earn less than most of you. I’ve got a $5,000.00 cap on my only credit card that I refuse to allow to go beyond $500.00. I’ve saved much of what I’ve earned to pay cash for the only new car, a 328i BMW, I’ve ever puchased, and recently made a cash purchase for the property. If I can do it, than anyone in America can do it if they have a mind to. If you’re waiting to be LUCKY, than who’s the fool? I knew a young man of 25, who bought a home with a mortgage, and sacrificed dating, partying, and entertainment for sometime. He was the brunt of the joke by many of our coworkers. However, that young man paid off that mortgage in 6 years at 29 years of age. Those same coworkers were envious, but also ignorant. They too attributed his accomplishment to luck. Nitwits, every one.

Fox News, the Alan Colmes network is again running the VP debate. Bam, Sarah just kicked “say it aint so Joe” in the the teeth again, causing a stuttering response from Joe that’s just hysterical to watch. 36 years of political experience gets it’s ass kicked by someone involved in the national platform for only five months.
Funny, funny, funny.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:43 am
Hey Alan,
A suggestion. The next time Hannity wants to beat the dead horse that is William Ayers (something that is no doubt coming down the pipe again with Palin bringing it up at her latest Town Hall), maybe we should discuss McCain’s connections to G Gordon Liddy. Connections that run just as deep as Obama’s to Ayers.
He’s donated at least $5000 to McCain including $1000 this year, held fundraisers for him and McCain has called him an “old friend”. Gushed over him on his radio programme – “It’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”
This is a man who is up to his eyeballs in Watergate, was imprisoned for conspiracy, has plotted kidnapping, murder, convenient ways to kill government agents and has a deep electric fondness for Hitler, who he “gives him strength.”
Does this thug get a shrug of the shoulders? If only he was connected to Obama…i’m sure he wouldn’t be rated a mention on Hannity’s crayon scrawled talking points list.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:43 am
It’s “Blair” with no ‘e’ at the end.
I drive a 93 Toyota truck with an antennae that rusted through fender and rides on the wheel well. I agree on the credit cards…I have one and it has a zero balance. I have it for emergencies ONLY. My daughter was one of those young kids who got conned. Yes, she should have known better. Yes, she didn’t seek advice on the mortgage terms. Yes, she showed poor judgement. And, yes, she lost her house in foreclosure. She is presently working hard and living in an apartment again. She accepts responsibility for her ignorance and pride in not seeking more advance advice.
I totally understand and congratulate that young man in his accomplishment with the mortgage. I agree that he has every right to be proud of his accomplishment.
When I was young, my wife and I saved our change and everything else for ten years to get the downpayment for a home. We were successful and cherished that house…..raised three kids there, too.
Ya know, we gotta be careful….we have much common ground in our outlook. Scary, huh? LOL
I repect your success and your opinion. I’m a cash and carry guy, too…..love it not to owe folks. I also like to overpay my utility bills so that they owe me…love that position. But, I’ve worked my butt off to get there. I certainly don’t take it for granted.
The important stuff to me now is the non material matters. I’m not saying yours should be, the conservative, I only say that to explain who I am.

“If I can do it, than anyone in America can do it if they have a mind to. ”
A friend of mine who has been working in her career for over 35 years just got laid off. She always paid her taxes, never had much of bills, has a little used neon that suits her fine. She has been searching for a new job for over 5 months now. Nothing. She even applied to work at a hospital cafeteria, safeway… rejected due to being over qualified. She is paying out of pocket for full health insurance, which she has to have due to medical difficulties. She went to a job interview last week for a position at a small firm, was told that over 65 applicants applied for that one position. She has went through her savings to make her mortgage these past months. She can’t sell her home, she is on the verge of selling her little car for a few thousand just to get by a little longer. A few more months and she will lose her home.
And people like you imply that she didn’t work hard enough. That every person down on their luck is some druggy or mental case. That is how out of touch the republicans are. Our unemployment rate is only going higher. Do you think all those people are going to be able to pay their mortgage for 6, 8, 10+ months while out of work?? My friend is going through her retirement to make ends meet.
By somehow claiming that YOU worked harder than her is laughable. She did do everything right. Republicans don’t care about people like this, and that is why mccain is going to lose this election.
October 5th, 2008 at 1:07 am
I think when one states that desire brought them all that they have, it is okay…with the caveat that for every “heads”, there will be a “tails”.
Hard work, or desire, is never enough alone. I understand what you are saying, JIMMCCO1. I, too, have many an example of people who have struggled and have yet to enjoy the benefits of all their efforts. I will keep that lady in my prayers.
It is also true that many people “down in their luck” are victims of circumstances far beyond their control.
I believe it is all our responsibility to offer a hand up to those folks…not just a hand out. Biden said it best in the debate…they need help, not pity.
October 5th, 2008 at 1:19 am
Palin already started the attacks today. The Obama campaign is ready to respond. McCain campaign just pulled another dumb move…when you are going to attack, you rarely find it beneficial to warn the press and your adversary that you are going to do it.
It’s like sending your candidate to Iowa to sit with the Des Moines Register editorial staff (the most liberal paper in a state that will be going to Obama) when you can’t even keep resources in Michigan to fight for yourself. Smarts aren’t a keystone of that campaign move, and now this. Thanks for the heads up, kids. The news cycle is far shorter than the ones that held advantages for a negative campaign. Look at the results in the senatorial campaign in Minnesota. Franken is now in the lead because Coleman went negative. Perhaps, the McCain campaign isn’t suicidal? Yeah, right.
October 5th, 2008 at 1:33 am
After reading all of the comments on this page, there is one thing that seems to stand out to me: the level of hatred amoung conservatives (specifically “the conservative”). I don’t know why these peaple fear change as much as they do. Stop wasting everyone’s time with your insults and trash. As an undecided voter, I value intelligent commentary in regards to the candidates and thier positions. The only things that the conservative writers in this forum have contributed are equivalent to smut magazines commentary on Britney Spears.
That being said…None of these candidates are saints. AND NONE OF THEM ARE THE ANTI-CHRIST (you moron). But Sarah Palin, in my opinion, is not ready for center stage. She is intelligent (to commit that many crimes without getting caught – she’d have to be), but she is not prepared to make decisions on her own. She has obviously been a spokeswoman for the conservative powers that be. She has done nothing but avoid the “liberal media,” ( all of which is owned by wealthy CEO’s – I’m sure they are all very giving liberal’s) and go into attack mode when confronted with legitimit(sp) issues.
Leave the negitivity at work. Hopefully the winner will be decided on merit. And to the conservative – congrats on your property purchase. But buy American cars…there’s an American worker counting on it!! Peace.
October 5th, 2008 at 1:36 am
It is a shame that our political candidates can’t campaign without resorting to attack-dog tactics. Unfortunately, that is what “we the people” respond to. Looking at the comments made in this discussion from both the left and the right it is easy to see where each of the candidates get their inspiration to be nasty. They (or their staffers) read this stuff too and then shape their message to match what they assume we want to hear. That is why the candidates sound so caustic. I guess if we want our candidates to change we will have to change ourselves.
October 5th, 2008 at 1:42 am
We’ll start in December…but, until then, I’m afraid it’s going to be “dog eat dog” until then. I pray that Obama can remember that truth is the strongest defense against slander. Wasn’t it Lincoln that said something like, “If you keep telling lies about me,then I’ll have to start telling the truth about you.” ?
Well, that may be the best course to take. However, honorable men have tried that before (like Kerry) and were swift boated ……so, if John Mc Cain has any honor left, it might be nice to show it.
October 5th, 2008 at 1:47 am
Respectfully disagree about getting down and dirty with the creeps, Robert. Choosing this half-baked Alaskan as his running mate just shows how little McCain really cares about America and how obsessed he is with his own ambition. I would literally put nothing past him in his grab for power.
Argue till you are blue in the face about policy – the wingnuts just cannot absorb it. Look how many of them still believe Obama will raise their taxes!
If all they can grasp is abortion, sexual morality, god bothering and loving America (well, selected aspects of it), they have to be made to understand that the possibility of this power-crazy, lying know-nothing woman becoming President is the single strongest reason to reject McCain.

The truth about the Palin family is starting to leak out. The SNL joke simply said what a lot of people in Alaska have already known for some time -

Please, leave the family out of it.
I agree with you,John. But, what should Obama do? Should we take advantage of McCain’s penchent for succumbing to gambling’s addictive qualities? Should we talk about his cancer? Should we attack him because he cheated on his first wife? Where should we draw the line?
October 5th, 2008 at 2:44 am
Relying on a physics concept – all other factors aside, the simplest most obvious answer is usually the correct one. If that idea is applied to this election it seems as though Obama / Biden have a clear edge. I won’t take it for granted that they will win. I made that mistake with Gore vs. Bush. I won’t put anything past desperate conservatives that see thier “white, upper middle class” way of life being threatened.
I really do root for Obama, but I hope he overcome alot of the bigotry and racism in this country and its politics.
October 5th, 2008 at 2:45 am
I contend we should strictly stay with the truth and not attack personality beyond his temperment to hold the office that controls “the button” and so much more. McCain’s temper is something that is already well known and is not something admirable in a president….we’ve already seen one president who couldn’t control his mouth…we don’t need another “loose cannon”.
October 5th, 2008 at 2:48 am
cheating on one’s wife is fair game if were going to go that route. That is a question of character. And that certainly is in the playing field – if that is the route we are going to go. I praise the left for not taking advantage of this fact.

Now, I wonder if Sarah is watching with the sound down.
Say, did you ever watch the older tapes of her debates in Alaska? Funny, there were no winks and very mild accents and speech patterns…almost none as a matter of fact. Hmmmm, could the little dearie be puttin’ one on to appeal to them mid western Dakota (Fargo) folks?
October 5th, 2008 at 3:09 am
Don’t know much of her past, but it sounds about right. The whole decision to include her on the ticket is about as thin as paper. Frankly, if I were a Repub, I’d be insulted to have her representing me. She was obiously a choice in respone to Hillary – playing to the trendy neocon masses. The whole right ticket is fairly rediculous this time around.
October 5th, 2008 at 3:18 am
What we need to do is pound the pavement, talk to anyone and everyone you can. Most people don’t know about Sen. Obamas’ policies, what he stands for where he wants to take this country. Compare policies, with Sen. McCain, show the vital differences between the two. I agree the family shouldn’t be involved but the moral judgements are important. You must acknowledge the republicans wanting to push the moral ticket and how each has hypocrisy in their (Sen. McCain, Gov. Palin) own lives. You have to acknowledge his temper and what that might mean when becoming the President and making decisions too quickly, asking questions later mentality. Most people who don’t know Sen. Obama are afraid because they think he doesn’t have any experience. Remember, Prsident Bush supposedly had experience and look where that’s gotten us! Intelligence is a quality I’m looking for in a leader, Sen. Obamas’ degree in constitutinal law should be touted much more than it has been. His professionalism and his demeanor and the fact that he is one of us, coming up from poverty, he knows exactly what people are afraid of, what their looking for and what will inspire them. He is the American dream, yes he has a big house, went to a prestigious college, but he had to work hard to get there. And was exceptional at it as well. The hardest people to reach are going to be the ones who still harbor feelings of racism. That I’m not sure what to do with or how to handle that. Some people will never change, no matter how bad life gets for them it’s too hard to change their minds, ignorance is bliss they say, we just have to show them the ticket that will bring them that bliss.
October 5th, 2008 at 3:29 am
Poor management of the campaign. I can’t even count how many managers and advisors McCain has gone through over the course of the primary and present campaign. It seems he has some problems in identifying talent, or he doesn’t have a clear vision in what he wants, or he is erratic in his emotional state and requires chaos to confirm his own image of control over situations he faces.
In any case, it doesn’t bode well for executive decision making in a position that requires a level head, and soft hands. We’ve already experienced an individual that took consistency to the point of stubbornness. To have a chaos creator in the position would be a change…but, wow….the world would not forgive us for many years. We aren’t loved already….having a chaos creator would make things far worse.
October 5th, 2008 at 3:32 am
Right on, Faith! I’m already there and the benefits are dramatic. So many people I meet are rational, not ready to accept the lies, enuendo, rumor, or slander. They want the truth.
October 5th, 2008 at 3:34 am
What scares me about McSchemp is his willingness to go war with Iran. Now I’m not a fan of the fanatic running thier show, but guns and bombs can’t be our 1St response. I live near Niagara Falls – what a target!!
Obama seems to have a firmer grip on negotiation. We, the US, were once regarded in high esteem. I don’t believe McForgetful can take us back there (for the repubs – the names are to make light :-) )
October 5th, 2008 at 3:42 am
Faith made good points. People are affraid of change. How do get past this?

Being a woman, I am not thrilled at all of the prospect that Gov. Palin could become the next VP, never mind the next President. I acknowledge the fact of her being Gov. and Mayor, but I’m not sure she has enough intelligence to run the country. She’s wrapped herself around her own little world up there in Alaska and hasn’t bothered to keep herself involved enough in the world around her. Had she done so, she would not have been sequestered for so long and had such a negative impact in other interviews she has given. I’ve said this before in another blog but I don’t see the professionalism in her, her demeanor and the way she portrayed herself during the debate. I was embarrassed as a woman watching her winking and blowing a kiss and yes, adding a little sexiness to her conduct, all the while asking for respect and complaining about sexism. Too much for me, not the qualities I’m looking for in a VP. I don’t want “Joe 6-pack” leading me, I want someone who’s much more intelligent, more discerning and a little less smug.
October 5th, 2008 at 3:46 am
Hopefully the public will see through the gimicks
October 5th, 2008 at 3:51 am
Man or woman – her demeanor and lack of respect for the position overall constitutes reluctance. As I said before – she does’t think for herself, therefore does not deserve the responsibility
October 5th, 2008 at 3:54 am
I can tell you about racism. I’m a white woman married to a black man. There’s a man I work with who was helping me and my husband with our computer. He never met my husband, only talked to him on the phone. While at work he’s always making racist remarks, about blacks, about mexicans, oddly enough he’s voting for Sen. Obama. He just hates the republicans bad enough, I suppose. Anyway, he just said one too many things at work and finally I had to say something and when I told him my husband was black he was shocked and said, “He can’t be black, I spoke to him on the phone and he sounded white” I asked him why because he didn’t say Yo waas up , he said, “Yes, he must be educated, like Obama” That’s the mentality we have to cut through. I understand when Sen. Biden said Sen. Obama was clean. Which Sen. Obama forgave him for that statement. I don’t really think he meant anything demeaning by it but on the other hand that is what alot of people think. They only see the black that they portray in movies or the crime on the television. That’s the mentality we need to change. Just like not all whites are the same or Asians, Europeans, or any other nationality. I beleive Sen. Obama is the man to bring that change about. You have to want it, to beleive it, to live it.
October 5th, 2008 at 4:01 am
Barack obama isn’t about change. If he was he woudn’t have a political lifer with 36 years playing his sidekick. If he’s elected he’ll have to raise your taxes to pay for the one or two promises he might keep because that’s all he’ll be able to do after he’s raised additional taxes to cover the present giveaway. Damn, don’t any of you liberals have any common sense for practical mathematics?
October 5th, 2008 at 4:03 am
hey conservative, whats up?
October 5th, 2008 at 4:07 am
I believe we must learn from our experience. I believe others can grow from us sharing our experience as a source of learning. In recovery, people share three things with each other….experience, strength, and hope. It is that same sharing that supports the learning of others regarding the campaign and Obama. I believe we need to keep sharing our experience, strengths, and hope with each other and other folks, too. Obama’s policies and platform provide a wide range of opportunities to stick to the issues and gain trust in the future potential of America.
October 5th, 2008 at 4:07 am
To achieve change, an experienced VP is a good choice. The wisdom of the system but not the obligation of one of the players…
October 5th, 2008 at 4:09 am
As far as raising taxes…Can anybody tell the last pres who didn’t? I’m not being a wiseass, I really want to know.
October 5th, 2008 at 4:11 am
Hey conservative, you get my comment about buying American? You with your BMW ;-)
October 5th, 2008 at 4:13 am
How can you degrade Sen. Biden for his years of service when Sen. McCain is not that far behind him. He also has had plenty of time to make change, where is it? Sen. Obama is young, he’s new, he has fresh ideas he’s not intollerant. He’s willing to listen and discuss other peoples’ opinions. Let’s face it, neither Sen. Obama nor Sen. McCain aren’t going to be able to keep to some of their promises because of this bailout. They’re both going to have to decide which policies are more important and what they want to spend our money on. I am confident, however that Sen. Obama has my best interests at heart and he and Sen. Biden will protect the best interests of the working middle class and not the upper echelon of society. Sen. McCains’ priorities are for the top 1% of this country and when you’re talking about putting country first it means the people who keep this country moving, not just companies and the rich.
October 5th, 2008 at 4:28 am
Mr. McKee is the typical godless liberal darwinian freak of human excrement. He likes to attack children, and families of respectable people to make his political point. Scumbags like him are common within this liberal blog where so many of you uneducated scatterbrained high school dropouts can only spew hate without any decency because he believes we evolved from animals anyway. His parents didn’t keep him in his cage long enough and should be shot along with Otto’s. Maybe they both have the same mother? Yeah, now that’s some filthy spin to spew, eh McKee?

October 5th, 2008 at 4:37 am
Faith,
Obama, Biden, and McCain all put their stamp of approval on the brilliant liberal bailout package. While the majority of the citizens said no to it, they ignored them and went on with it as though they didn’t exist, and you think they put you first? They went on with it because of brilliant liberal numbnut thinkers like yourself who believe the bull dung. McKee and Otto must have a sister too? Looks like the primates have been busssssssssy!
October 5th, 2008 at 4:48 am
Mr Conservative, I think you have anger issues. I hardly think you’re argument reaches any credibility with the language you use and the name calling. You certainly can’t copmare all liberals on this blog as the same as I can’t compare you to all christian right wing republicans. Although I can say I am glad I am an atheist because if that language is any indication of what a christian should be I am dignified enough on my own not to use it. Although, had I the inclination to speak to people that way, being I am without morals, I wouldn’t be perceiving myself as being hypocritical.

October 5th, 2008 at 4:53 am
Hey Trapnell does the S stand for S**T for brains? Or, are you related to the lower primates I’ve addressed? I assume it could be one or the other. No? Ok, then it’s both.
October 5th, 2008 at 4:54 am
Palin didn’t support it because, oh wait – she’s not qualified enough to!! Trusting her is like asking a kid to coach a super bowl!

October 5th, 2008 at 5:02 am
And since you added Sen. McCain in that scenario as not being putting me first, you have another candidate in mind? I put my trust in the person that carries himself with more dignity, has better ideals, understands the core of America, having lived through poverty, racism and the struggles we face every day. Sen. McCain is an angry, desperate man who doesn’t make me feel very safe, he’s a quick decision maker, without thinking, which can get us into more wars we don’t need. His decision making is debatable with the choice of Gov. Palin, in my opinion, is not the best choice he could have made. He is out of date and she is uninformed.
October 5th, 2008 at 5:03 am
There’s no hate Faith. I’m simply doing what all you liberals do. No foul language here. Gee, and I was hoping if I could be like the rest of you, I might be allowed to join your club of self esteemed buffoonary. You’ve hurt my feelings Faith, excuse me while I blow my nose.

I don’t understand how someone that appears as intelligent as yourself can retain such a narrow point of view
October 5th, 2008 at 5:04 am

October 5th, 2008 at 5:06 am
I’m sure as a devout neocon you can come up with at least 3 better candidates for VP

Isn’t a part of Christiananity (sp) being a missionary? Hey Conservative, your doing a HELL of a job:-)!!!!
October 5th, 2008 at 5:12 am
Faith,
I appreciate the level of tolerance that you’ve shown. Classy. As for myself, I let my self get roped into this BS that the extreme right spews out.
Taking a moment and reviewing, it is easy to see where the appropriate vote needs to cast.
“Ask not what our country can do for us, but what we can do for our country”

October 5th, 2008 at 5:23 am
Say it aint so, there you go again comparing me to all liberals. I believe conservatives are the ones that belong to the buffoonary club, your leader is Gov. Palin as she made a joke of the debates. I can’t help you there. Forgive me that I hurt your feelings. I hope you have a big enough tissue or maybe Sen. McCain will let you use his sleeve. (Insert previous statement here), you are angry, you can’t talk or have a discussion without insulting someone. That’s all I have to say to you, you’re certainly not helping your party any by acting the same way and talking the same talk they so blatantly accuse the left of doing, this conversation is going nowhere. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
October 5th, 2008 at 5:23 am
S. Trapnell,
Thank you, I try. It’s exactly what they want you to do. Believe you me, it gets hard at times, but seeing as how I don’t know any of you personally, I try not to take statements personal myself. I have been known to go at with my friends who disagree with my views, but that is friendly and all in the spirit of debate. That was what Sen. Obama tried to do in the first place, be civil, change the ways of the elections, but the good guys always lose especially in politics and I think he has a hard time being mean and vindictive. Taking the high road makes you look good, but doesn’t always get you what you want. Let’s hope that changes. Good night, I have to go, maybe talk some other time. “Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but to get better”-Sydney J. Their “ONE” is a fraud. Everywhere he has been, he has clearly shown to be a fraud: Columbia, Harvard, “The Community”, Annenberg, The Senate, personal relationships He is one huge POS.

Talk about glass houses.
Ayers, as far as I know, has never been convicted of a crime. Obama’s relationship with him is cursory at best. Palin, on the other hand, actually sleeps with a card carrying member of the Alaska Independence Party. A bunch of secessionist traitors.
Look up the word sedition.

All this talk about lipstick and hockey moms has blocked our minds from seeing what is obvious. What is another name for a female dog? It seems like the McCain camp is baiting someone in the public to use “The B Word” to make Palin a victim. This would outrage the Feminists and galvanize the angry female vote and neutralize Obama’s Youth Movement. It’s not going to work…no matter how they use Palin to attack. What she is doing is ugly, but that woman is fine. Good people can do ugly things. Palin is no different.
October 5th, 2008 at 8:36 am
Obama wants to tax the rich, and business. Great. Nothing like inflation to compound the problems of a recession, or maybe an eventual depression. Brilliant liberal mathematics has shown once again how it towers over financial common sense, and responsibility. Obama must have asked Joe if throwing good money after bad might make it all go away!
October 5th, 2008 at 9:31 am
CECIL JONES,
Another magnificent liberal smear tactic. Not a speck of fact, only a theory to misuse and misinterpret as truth. A true liberal, and as dumb as a rock. I’m impressed!
October 5th, 2008 at 9:44 am
Why hasn’t the lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng arm of the IRS gone after the CEO’s to recover their millions made from failure? Why has the Democratic nitwits invested almost a trillion in worhless paper, hoping by some miracle of their gods, that the worthless paper may some day make a profit? Didn’t Wall Street use this risk tactic already? Didn’t the same Barney Frank allow the start of worhless paper investing within Wall Street in the first place? Oh, come on people. Liberals can’t admit a fault, but can sure point a finger. Has it always been a liberal psychological tendency to blame others for their own mindlessness? Or, is it hereditary?
October 5th, 2008 at 10:16 am
“With people so extreme as these, they only get along with others who agree with them. The Obamas and the Ayers/Dohrn agree with each other.”
And Palin would obviously have no problem being McCain’s Cheney, or his Himmler.
Definitely a barracuda. She’d cheerfully stick a knnife in your back if you disagree with her vision for the world.

Why I’ll NEVER vote for Obama:
It’s a very personal reason and yet cuts to the heart of the ISSUE regarding Obama’s character. You see on March 6, 1970 I was a army NCO stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia. Having recently returned from combat duty in Vietnam I spent an inordinate amount of time at the NCO Club. Enter Bill Ayers and the Weathermen. Also, on March 6, 1970 a bomb exploded prematurely at a Weatherman bomb factory in Greenwich Village, New York killing three of Bill’s radical friends. That bomb was purportedly meant to kill NCOs at a club on Fort Dix. I have always taken it very personally that Bill and his friends would want to kill me or friends of mine. And, yes I had a couple friends stationed at Fort Dix at the time. Not only that, but Bill doesn’t regret it. Bill is quoted as saying he should have done more. Further, Bill says he “doesn’t discount the possibility of doing it again”.
Enter BHO. I believe there is much more to the story but Obama agrees that he once attended a political fund raiser at Bill’s house early in his career. A fund raiser meant to promote Obama’s political career.
There is NO way in hell I could support a man who calls Bill Ayers “a friend” let alone the fact that Obama took money from Bill and Bill’s friends to further his political career.
For those who support Obama consider the following: Despite having authored two autobiographies, Barack Obama has never written about his most important executive experience. From 1995 to 1999, he led an education foundation called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), and remained on the board until 2001.
The CAC was the brainchild of Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground in the 1960s. Among other feats, Mr. Ayers and his cohorts bombed the Pentagon, and he has never expressed regret for his actions. Barack Obama’s first run for the Illinois State Senate was launched at a 1995 gathering at Mr. Ayers’s home.
Bill Ayers knew Obama very well or Obama would never have been named to head his foundation. Bill and Obama are also credited with writing the by-laws for the foundation. There is much more to the relationship between Bill and Obama than meets the eye.
And for Obama’s supporters in the middle it might be wise to research all the money pouring into his campaign from the extreme left. If elected the extreme left will own him.
October 5th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Why I think the problem with McCain is one of character as well as judgement:
After the Bush campaign smeared McCain’s military service as well as his wife an daughter, he turned and employed the same people to engage in the same smear tactics that he found so unscrupulous in 2000.
I fear this demonstrates the very lack of honor that Ross Perot spoke about:
“But Ross Perot, who paid her medical bills all those years ago, now believes that both Carol McCain and the American people have been taken in by a man who is unusually slick and cruel – even by the standards of modern politics.
‘McCain is the classic opportunist. He’s always reaching for attention and glory,’ he said.
‘After he came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona. And the rest is history.’
His poor judgement, and recklessness has been shown over and over again with his gambling, his joke about Chelsea Clinton, his “bomb, bomb, bomb,…bomb, bomb, Iran, and his irresponsible choice of running mate.
I guess I agree with George Will for once.
John McCain does not have the temperment to be president.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Fidelity of marriage is an issue. It also is holding to an oath taken in the house of God. Where does John McCain stand on fidelity and it’s importance in his life?
Now, there is an argument on issue and temperment.
October 5th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Maybe that’s all Palin knows is to be a hit person since she has very little knowlege on the policy’s of this country. Can’t you right winger see that palin only recites what has been rehersted. What is all this “gotta” and “doggonett” talk about especially from a potential VP so out of tune. She couldn’t answers the question on the debate without shifting to the energy policy. America is going to be the laughing stock to other countries if McSame is elected with his little unknowlegable puppet. Well with the 5th child/1st grandchild story, if true will be a nightmare. If you believe for one second this Country was not founded with a Supreme Being in mind, you are gravely wrong. The entirety of it was, and still is, to this day. There is rich symbolism all around you, and you, too self-interested, fail to see it. This Country is split, its ring is sour. There is not one person in the Nation who will forget the year 2008–the year will be called, to our grandchildren, “The good old days of Twenty Oh Eight.” No matter who wins. The trick, cleverly hidden in this party-bickering, is for individual citizens to unite–regardless of party. But Americans aren’t able to do this–they unite by finding a common enemy–the “other party”. America and all it was founded for, that “great experiment”, is at risk. The Supreme Being, with certain measure, will prevail. How ego-centric we are, as Americans, to assume an American is required to prevail. We are losing our Country, our Constitution, our freedoms, our dignity, our integrity, our One Nation Under God. It isn’t about red vs blue. It’s about who’s going to be naming that God…and by what name. If you ask any culture, “Where is your God?”–they point straight up–not left, not right. Straight up. Americans are too busy pointing at each other. September 11th visually was so tragic to Americans, they came together. One half of the “Rescue Plan” was due to foreign investment. Who’s buying up America now, so cheaply? Have you even bothered to look? Or are you studying polls while vast plots of houses and developments are being scooped up by foreign investors? Who’s buying all that cheap stock out there? Who will play with your money again? Osama said he would take away American’s security. How secure are you seven years after September 11th 2001? Or do you need to see a plane to shake some sense into you?

Some thought there was a supreme being, some didn’t.
Then for those who did, the question becomes, Whoes supreme being?
That’s why Thomas Jefferson nailed it when he said,
“Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear…
Do not be frightened from this inquiry from any fear of its consequences.
If it ends in the belief that there is no God, you will find incitements to virtue in the comfort and pleasantness you feel in its exercise”

I don’t support Obama & Biden, or John McCain. However, Sarah Palin makes the McCain ticket the lesser of two evils.Sarah Palin will make a great Vice President, and the top republican contender for the Presidency in 2012
Is it purely a personality thing, or does she have some set of policies that you prefer to McCain?
October 5th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Letting us know about a persons true background in past is far from mud slinging. It is only fair to inform the people of the United States of all of the facts in any person who is asking us to be our president. I hope you agree with that also. You know balance.

Vnce asks:
Do any of the mental giants here know what the impact would be on the amount of interest the Fed Govt pays if interest rates started to rise?
I’m no mental giant, but I’ll take a stab at it…
Umm..
It would lower the risk of inflation?
It would make T-Bills a more attractive investment?
Wait.. You are more a glass half full guy, than glass half empty…
So, I’ll say the answer you are looking for is:
– Irony alert on. I’m just kidding here. No offense meant –
It would completely devastate the economy of the U.S. as an even greater percentage of GDP would go towards paying back debt. The Marxist Democrats, having created a distraction for the citizens of the U.S. would then implement their TRUE plan. They would spread Islam, while doing everything possible to destroy Christianity. Soon after, the Apocalypse will be upon us.

Sarah Palin is not the only woman( in the world)who has ever carried a Down Syndrome baby to full term.So that’s not a unique policy to run for VP. Many woman have gone to the bathroom. Is that a policy,as well?
October 5th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I don’t think anyone except the left is making an issue of her down syndrome baby. He was not carried to full term, he was born about a month early.
October 5th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Only a wright winger is making an issue of Obama bieng: muslim, terrorist, anti-american, antisemetic, “not one of us”. Oke, the baby was premature; my mother gave birth to a premature Down Syndrome too.
October 5th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
pierre,
That isn’t why people want to vote for her. It is an endearing fact, but does not have any bearing on her ability to lead other than perhaps the fact that she will fight hard for programs for special needs children.
October 5th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Do you mean to say that people are actually going to vote for Palin? Don’t they know that John comes along with that package?
She is about as endearing as a butcher without four days sleep. She may fight hard, but I’m not sure she knows how not to hurt herself. Why do I believe that? Why won’t her handlers talk to anyone outside of the few selected interviews she’s already had? No Face The Nation, Meet the Press, This Week….not even The View/
She can’t even go to a softball show like Tonight, Today, Late Night, or Regis. Man, they really don’t trust her with anyone who can ask one of tricky follow up questions that dig bellow her paper thin surface of knowledge.

Tell Hannity NO BOUNCE …. mwaa haa haaa haa oh wait, there was in fact a bounce, FOR OBAMA!!! He’s at 52% today and leading for the first time among men….. even Joe 6-Pack isn’t that stupid to fall for Palin’s winking and folksy speak….
And even if Joe 6pack is too stupid to believe all her false character assaults, he won’t show up to the polls anyway…he’ll be in the throws of hunting season….mwaa haa haaa haa
If the McDesperate campaign wants to have a debate on character, I’m sure Obama would be happy to have that debate…I don’t think you can stand on the moral high ground when both people on that ticket have cheated on their spouses, not to mention being involved in scandals…keating & troopergate….uh, yeah, I don’t think they want to go THERE!

Have you ever seen a kitten get angry? We laugh at kittens that get angry. They are cute. They spit, growl, snarl, jump around and fuzz up. Well, have you seen Sarah (Barbie on crack) Palin’s attack?
McCain enters dangerous territory by entering the nasty phase. He loses focus on the immediate needs of people…..the economy and it’s affect on them. The market is down the crapper…who cares about Bill Ayers and what he did in the 60’s? Also, you bring up the prospect of revisiting John’s old friend, Charles Keating. Sad, but things don’t bode well for a disorganized, message missing, mis directed campaign.

Ayers & Obama aren’t nearly as scary as Liddy & McCain.
“In 1971, after serving in several positions in the Nixon administration, Liddy was moved to Nixon’s 1972 campaign, the Committee to Re-elect the President (officially known as “CRP” but to opponents known as CREEP), in order to extend the scope and reach of the White House “Plumbers” unit, which had been created in response to various damaging leaks of information to the press. At CRP, Liddy concocted several plots, some far-fetched, intended to embarrass the Democratic opposition.
These included firebombing the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. (where classified documents leaked by Daniel Ellsberg were being stored), kidnapping anti-war protest organizers and transporting them to Mexico during the Republican National Convention (which at the time was planned for San Diego), and luring mid-level Democratic campaign officials to a house boat in Baltimore where they would be secretly photographed in compromising positions with call girls.”
and also:
“Liddy has donated $5,000 to McCain’s campaigns since 1998, including $1,000 in February 2008. In addition, McCain has appeared on Liddy’s radio show during the presidential campaign, including as recently as May. An online video labeled “John McCain On The G. Gordon Liddy Show 11/8/07″ includes a discussion between Liddy and McCain, whom Liddy described as an “old friend.” During the segment, McCain praised Liddy’s “adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great,” said he was “proud” of Liddy, and said that “it’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program.”
