On Monday’s Radio Show…
October 6th, 2008, 6:00 PM EDT
• Salon.com Blogger Glenn Greenwald, whose book Great American Hypocrites is now out in paperback, discusses today’s collapse on Wall Street, the bailout, and the race for the White House.
• Columnist Peggy Noonan, author of Patriotic Grace, wants Americans to unite across party lines. But is that even possible as the campaigns get dirtier and dirtier? Noonan responds.
• Futurists Paul Guercio and Dr. George Hart of The Merlin Project share their political predictions for the 2008 Election and beyond.

Joel - urgent. Please set up a post about the fabulous mini-documentary on McCain and the smoking gun evidence about how he helped Keating avoid scrutiny for years, costing the taxpayer billions and many thousands of Americans their life savings.
Almost unbelievably, Fox has been playing excerpts!

Merlin Project looks like an interesting site. Futurists are always exciting with their forecasts….no matter what they are.
October 6th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
So does the Merlin project think the world will end in 2012? On the front page they have an endtimes trak that stops in 2012.

Noticed that….looks like something to listen about tonight.

Could someone tell me how Sarah Palin reconciles her prolife views with her capital punishment views?
October 6th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Sarah Palin complains about “sexist” attacks, etc., but wasn’t her very nomination based on sexism? Does anyone really believe, if she were a man, that she would have been chosen as the VP candidate?

The relevance of the Keating 5 is that it has similarities to the way we got into our present situation. Deregulators and cronyism. Sure, McCain was found innocent, but was censured. Kinda like OJ was found innocent of murder, but was chastised in the press. It doesn’t matter…the real issue there is that we don’t want someone who helped get us into that mess doing it again.

come on Alan both sides are bombarding the other remember mccain as a 3rd term voting 95% of the time come on…obama votes straight party line as well.
wright is old news but then so is keating..save the cry baby stuff….this is politics so deal with it.sad as it is this is what both parties have become.

The reason Obama can vote with the Democratic party al the time is that they are right all the time. Keating 5 has some lessons for the country. Deregulation and personal relationships led to that disaster. Deregulation led to this disaster. Now, did the “innocent” McCain learn his lesson when he was censured? Hope so….because OJ didn’t learn after he was found innocent, sure hope McCain isn’t like that.
James, if there was something to learn from any of the old news garbage the republicans are spewing into the angry mobs they attract lately, it would have already been used. This is purely and emotional appeal to the worst in people. Fear and hate are emotions that are separated by a paper thin layer of rationality. To play with those emotions is to play with dynomite.

Peggy Noonan was full of crapola. I saw her give the same psuedo-tortured response on Meet The Press. She cannot pretend that the two camps are equally engaged in mudslinging. Cambell Brown from CNN did the same thing in her article today. Peggy Noonan cannot pretend that right wing radio, plus conservative politicians are not MORE nasty and fully engaged in slinging mud at Obama 24/7. I used to have respect for her speechwriting capabilities, but i lost a modicum of respect for her last night when she stuck with the “both sides are negative” line and the “the left is getting mean because they are winning” line. Peggy Noonan knows better.
