Open Thread: McCain vs. Obama – Round 2

“McCain is riseing in the polls because he is a friend of the people. Obama was a jerk and he mis treated Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin. He proves he is a snob and a elitist. My husband is a plumber and makes in excess of $387,000 with 3 employees. We were Obama Biden supporters last week not now. Obama looks down on the middle class

May you enjoy your fantastic tax position. In advance, I’d like to thank you for your patriotic contribution to the national treasury. May your crow be served with a healthy helping of garlic.
I just love those Asian language interludes….
Att den super snygga Prins Carl Philip gjort slut med Emma Pernald har man ju hört rykten om… men här har Catarina Hurtig BEVISET http://www.finest.se/userBlog/?uid=10457&beid=1039525 på att han är SINGEL!!! Ohh yeah!
387,000 middle class..lol

We aren’t even past the first question and Obama has already “won”.
Obama managed to actually answer “Alan’s” economic question while McCain wandered off the reservation into a lecture about tax cuts and home prices.
“Trickle down” is only a golden shower for 95% of us.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
tom sounds constipated
October 7th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
oooh mccain is on the attack ….”cronies”
October 7th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
John McCain is talking and Obama looks like he’s just being polite and givin’ the old guy a chance to talk. I love it.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Don’t get me wrong, though. I LOVE John. But um, I think he should sit this round out.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
“I’ve gotta correct a little of Senator McCain’s history- not surprisingly”.
LOL
October 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
McCain has the nerve to blame the poor folk who are losing their houses for all this mess????? Typical Republican lies. Blame the victim.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
oooh fight fight…I hope someone brings up immigration tonight
October 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
So McCain promises to cut social security and does it with a smile. Social Security is not an entitlement – I paid for it pal!!!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
McCain didn’t bring his A game tonight. He’s not answering the questions, he’s only regurgitating el Rushbo/Sean’s talking points. Obama is actually answering the questions.
McCain thinks the root of our economic problems are falling home prices. Obama thinks the root of our problems are lost jobs falling real wages and the resulting falling affordability of homes.
Obama gets it.
McCain hasn’t said “my friends” even once yet. How long before McCain mentions Raines or Ayers?
UPDATE: 8:22ct and we have our first “my friends”!!!
OH!!! 8:24ct and another “my friends”. TWO!!
October 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
mccain has absoulutely no style with his speaking “my friends” stiff as a board. not saying that obama’s is much better. obama just looks like an arrogant self absorbed politician.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Be nice to McCain. I like him!
October 7th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
The sacrifices we should be making are similar to Jimmy Carter’s “wear a sweater” bit, but there are all sorts of capitalists who will raise hell about that.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Is this a debate or a resume reading?
I’m not sure.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
did you go into the future there anonymouse…I believe this thing just started and you are already showing unbelievable bias. your opinion no longer means anything.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Anyone who wants to take my social security away from me and give them to his billionaire friends in a champagne tax cut is no friend of mine.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
We can “ATTACK HEALTH CARE” ….what a LOUSEBAG.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Mouse said-
““Trickle down” is only a golden shower for 95% of us”
Man, I missed you ‘Mouse.
I started a new job and have been SOOOO busy with it. It’s a great op for me though, so I’m focusing on it big time.
I still pay for Alan’s podcast, even though I rarely have the chance to use it and don’t even have my URL to hear it anymore. But I support Alan Colmes! lol
I wonder if any of the other regulars I’m used to will pop in tonight????
October 7th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I hate to tell you John – the majority of Americans don’t know who the hell President Herbert Hoover was or what he did. Get with the 21st Century grandad.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
There you go again – cut Social Security and give Exxon a tax cut.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
if he says “my friends” one more time I am hittin mute
October 7th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
history repeats itself jake
October 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
“anonymouse … your opinion no longer means anything.”
That’s okay, my dog and cat still like me.
“Man, I missed you ‘Mouse.”
(Tip o’ hat to C^2.)
Oh!!! 8:35ct and another “my friends”!!! Three!!
McCain is still spreading the “Obama wants to raise your taxes and get you fired” nonsense. But Obama takes the McCain curveball and throws a heater back at him in reply. McCain swings and misses.
Oh!! 8:41ct and another “my friends”. Four!! And he throws in a “Ronald Reagan” for good measure.
OH!! 8:42ct, my friends. Five!! Oh!!! 8:43ct, six!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
“That one”!!!!!!!!! You old racist bastard.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Well, it sounds like everyone in here was all ready to
climb all over McCain before it even got started!! Wow!
You all get ready to “march-step” if your friend Obama
gets in. Do you know what you are wishing for???? Goodbye America as we know it.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Molli, with the economy in the state it’s in now and the nation in a state of gloom, is that necessarily a bad thing?
October 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
how are these two running to be the next president of the United States? how did we come to this? this has got to be the saddest time in American history. the future looks horrible. I guess the Mian calender was right, the World will in 2012. so pick your poison “my friends”.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
McCain simply cannot defend his record of tugging his forelock to the moneyed interests of the Republican party If he was with them – he was wrong – if he was against them then he is a failure.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
end..”my friends”
October 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Mayan calendar…
October 7th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
thanks there furyus…I was working with speed more than spelling. I left out “end” too, “my friend”
October 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Gee you wouldn’t be a Republican would you…
By the way his mother was white – does that make you feel better about her..
October 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
8:48ct, my friends, seven. 8:49ct, eight. 8:50ct, nine.
We’re getting one “my friends”/minute from McCain.
Obama also “gets it” on health insurance. McCain would unwind the current health insurance scheme, as bad as it is, and turn us all loose into the wild. McCain’s plan for health insurance alone should be enough reason to vote for Obama.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
McCain looks weak and dishonest! Obama is looking great! GO OBAMA/BIDEN 08!!!!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Senator Obama is looking good, but Senator McCain is looking better.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
We have universal health care here in Australia. Equal access to health care (especially for children) is no more ’socialist’ than having protection from the police force, or the government paying for the roads I use, or the provision of the postal service.
McCain and the Republicans are dishonest when they talk about this issue.
GO OBAMA/BIDEN!!!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
who cares how others around the world feel about us? I never understood why this matters? do we have to subdue to those that are jealous?
October 7th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
How can we put a man in charge of or armed forces when he turned on his own colleagues in battle and sided with the Vietnamese.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Why would I be jealous of your collapsing economy? Or you unequal health care system? Get real!
America needs renewal! America is on a precepice! Pax Americanus is on the verge of collapse like all great empires before it… OBAMA/BIDEN and an honest re-engagement with the rest of the global community are your best hope!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Now Obama is making sense. He just leveled McCain on the Pakistan issue.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
If Americans are so proud of their country, why do they pretend to be Canadians when travelling abroad?
October 7th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Yeah, we drove the Russians out of Afgan, by being allies to the Taliban… does McCain really forget history or does he not get it
October 7th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
“Afghan freedom fighters”? – he means Osama Bin Laden.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
DAMN……I LOVE OBAMA………..I’m voting absentee for him this week…….He’s JFK 2.0
Don’t let the negative Republicans win with their scare tactics…..booooo
October 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
ALANISACONSERVATIVE, I can see you are here for some intelligent debate and are clearly not out to offend or goad. It reminds me of McCain’s performance tonight, actually…
October 7th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
about obama’s tax repeal of Reagan’s for those at a 1/4 million and up i say if they are upset just grab your boot straps and change places with that lucky family on 20 or thirty thousand dollars and trade places and be happy i’m sure that family would be happy to live on a 1/4 million or more. now go do it
October 7th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Obama just made a mistake by doing follow ups. It opens the door for McSame to do it too
October 7th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
You’re right! I remember the American’s helping the Taliban throughout the 1980s. McCain obviously does not! Just as he doesn’t seem to realise or acknowledge that the US has dozens of ‘advisors’ in Georgia (McCain is friends with the Georgian president)… could be America’s next cold war arena!
Commanders and analysts are now saying that Afghanistan will fail if the current approach continues without a renewed focus and political solutions. For God sake! Don’t pick more fights in Georgia and Iran when you haven’t got control in Afghanistan!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
The Drudge Report has McCain winning the debate – and it hasn’t even ended yet. LMAO – gotta love that liberal media.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
9:00ct, ten “my friends”. 9:01, eleven.
9:06, twelve. 9:06 again, thirteen.
And another “President Reagan”, to spice it up again.
“Equal access to health care (especially for children) is no more ’socialist’ than having protection from the police force, or the government paying for the roads I use, or the provision of the postal service.”
There’re ongoing efforts, Republicans enjoying various levels of success, in the USA to privatize cops, roads and the postal service. Oy, oy, oy!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
McBush fails to acknowledge that the Russians moved into South Ossetia to defend ethnic Russians who were being murdered in the streets by Georgian militias and the Georgian military (There are reports that any male, including teenagers, were being shot on sight). What was the US administration thinking by allowing that to happen (didn’t the ‘advisors’ know?).
If you poke a bear in the eye, it will probably bite you!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
“Firm and determined”… the folly of Iraq has now significantly weakened the US’s ability to respond… that’s the Republicans “for ya!”
October 7th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
I don’t see how anyone thinks McCain is winning. I don’t think Obama is burying him, but I do think Obama is winning by a small margin. Both have made tactical and stategic errors, but they have made some good points.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
McCain is burying himself – he is just an old Cold Warrior with nothing to offer the 21st Century.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
“What I don’t know is what the unexpected will be” – a true Rumsfeldism.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
obama reminds me of a silver tongue devil.lies.lies,lies,blah,blah,blah.what a dummy
October 7th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
9:25. 9:27. My friends. I might have missed a couple but this is at least 14 and 15.
One “my friends”/minute.
I remember the Bush/Kerry debates four years ago, sitting here feeling ashamed as an American of Bush’s nonsense, gobbledygook answers. This time, both of these two are nothing to be ashamed of. Obama presents himself well enough to be proud of.
October 7th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
It worries me that a grumpy old man keeps using the word “fight”. He is so full of cold war rhetoric! It’s not him who is going to fight! It’s young men and women the age of his grandchildren he’s going to be sending off to war… how about just sitting down and talking to people and using the military option as a last resort rather than the first resort!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
McCain lost bigtime !!! LMFAO
October 7th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Best Fox News moment of the night (so far)…
Frank Luntz asked the “focus group” of about 25 people which candidate connected best with them. Vote went to Obama.
Brit Hume, in desperation, said “but they thought McCain did better on the Economy?”. Luntz took a live show of hands. About five people put up their hands.
Luntz said with a straight face “About HALF of them think he did better”. This channel is hilarious!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Terry I was thinking about moving there after all this goes down…”my friend”. but on to healthcare…I do not believe it should be nationalized b/c quality will be lost. let healthcare be determined by the free market, competition raises quality for everyone. the netherlands are doing this now in their country and having great success…so far. as far as the “collasping economy”…I say let those big banks fail, there should be NO bail out. let small local banks take over and the big boys die off. anyone with any idea that this is close to a depression is a fool. this is complete Bush fiscal socialism. he is not a fiscal conservative, which can be seen in his 2002 speech where he said he wanted to free up housing for everyone. some crap about how 3/4 of white people own a house, and less than half of minoritys own a house, and this is wrong. that is socialism at its worst. if you dont have the money you shouldnt be able to buy…”my friends”. both of these candidates and both of these parties are responsible and that is why I wanna move to aussie land….”my friends”. Aussi 08
October 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
We can swap… if Obama wins, I want to move to the US!
October 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Alanisaconservative: Most Americans get their weird ideas about nationalized health care from the media, or they use the Canadian or British System as the only examples for nationalized healthcare. Funny, they ignore the great medicine in Japan, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, etc. But even the poorest examples of the industrialized country are better than our current system in one way. Because everyone has healthcare of even a basic variety, communicable disease is more apt to be identified and treated, preventable illness is less frequent, overall population health is better.
Remeber, poor general population health equals more money and lost productivity and riskier public health.
It really is just that simple.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
McCain did a goog job of linking Obama to Fannie and Freddie. Now he’ll have to capitalize on it.
And to the person complaining about drudgereport, CNN was keeping score too. Both are guilty of trying to shape opinions.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
To the debate performance of McSame and Obama: McCain needed a home run, but appeared as if he could barely hold the bat. Obama: Nice, not thrilling, but nice. Advantage Obama.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
To terry from DownUnder: I could not agree more with your post. As an American who travels abroad a great deal I completely concur. Since most Americans never travel abroad, they tend to think of themselves as alpha and omega. They fail to realize how much we need the rest of the world, and it shows in such stupid decisions as having elected George W. Bush, etc. ad nauseam.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Dog gone it there he goes again calling Obama “that guy” which can be translated to “that black guy” you betcha! McShame wouldn’t even shake Obama’s hand at the end of the debate. What a nasty old man. “You kids get off my lawn!”
October 7th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Nah. It’s too soon to tell who won. I think the polls will say something by Friday. These partisan sites like this one, are not representative of the people on the street.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Hey,my dear republican friends….let’s spend some more money….how about another estimated 300 billion on home mortgage buyouts???
October 7th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
The debate tonight featured our next president and someone whose shorts were a bit tight. I wonder how he will feel when “that one” is taking the oath in January and he is trying to get that wedgy straightened out?
October 7th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
What a pathetic race. A man who is too old, and a man who is inexperienced and an extreme liberal. Throw in Palin, whose job it is to get just enough women to vote with their pssies, America’s future is not bright, no matter who wins.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
McCain quit…That’s it!
October 8th, 2008 at 12:06 am
McCain displayed little integrity. He uses insults and smears on the road, but can’t do it in person. Even McCarthy smeared people face to face.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:08 am
quit? ******! this is not a rank out contest on the playground of some high school in South Central LA. It’s a presedential campaign. Go watch old episodes of “Yo, MTV Raps”, while others discuss the debate.
Blair_ Obama smears to, and said nothing about the Keating Five, so it works both way.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:13 am
LLL — Cut out the name-calling.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:15 am
I second what LLL said as seen earlier. how in the h*ll the media gave us these two choices for our next commander and chief astounds me? I seriously believe both sides, most democrats dont like their choice, besides the far far left liberals, and republicans dont like their choice. I as a conservative sure dont like mccain. its a win win for the media either way b/c both stink and they will have alot of headlines “my friends”. and Terry I will take you up on that deal.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Didn’t have to use Keating, McCain had a short fuse on himself and self destructed…over and over and over and over. McCain needed a game changer…and he got it….yep, he pulled out a $300 billion dollar mortgage bailout surprise on his own base…the Republicans are just gonna love it….you betcha
October 8th, 2008 at 12:26 am
I can’t wait to have a “that one” thread.
Sorry about the name calling.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:27 am
I can’t wait to see the thread that will involve how the republicans will start eating their own.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:28 am
mccain’s biggest flaw is that he’s not personable “my friends”. kind of like Bush 1. on the other hand Regan, Clinton, and Bush 2 have or had a projection that was enlightning. mccain seems like the old man that leaves cheap tips, and obama seems like a typical self-absorbed, narcisstic politician craving power.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:34 am
my spelling is way off tonight “my friends”
October 8th, 2008 at 12:36 am
It’s like the name use technique used by Sarah. It becomes a contrived mechanism. He made a personal contact with the Chief Petty Officer guy…and that was good…he then went on to blow the answer, but he did make good contact. John isn’t a bad guy. I really believe that John has some major issues with the place where is campaign is and what he is having to say on the road. I don’t think he is comfortable being the Mcarthy slime slinger….even when Karl’s kids are directing him to do that.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:39 am
Obama came across as so incompetent its pathetic, he is so not ready and so deluded there is simply no way.
This townhall style showed how Obama only sounds with it when he can read carefully scripted junk someone else wrote and use facial expressions to appear qualified, but that one is a phoney.
Thats why Obama refused, was too scared, was too afraid to debate McCain in townhall meetings until now. Obama has no substance, he is play acting for my nations most powerful single job and it offends me.
If it were Hillary who was the democrat candidate? Id be saying she and Bill and whitewater and all the scandals to choose from. But I couldnt be saying she is a phoney because she isnt.
Obama really failed in the foreign policy side, he is totally incompetent and green behind the ears? Does this mean green party? Or martian green wearing a human disguise? Or was it a mistake? If McCain had said this Alan would be riding that one for weeks, bumper stickers on his car: McCain said green!
October 8th, 2008 at 12:39 am
our opinions mean nothing. we’re not undecided. it’s the undecided voters that will sway this.
but I’m more interested in turning on the food network to watch Robert Blair eat his own.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:41 am
I understand the spelling thing….it might be a nice addition to the blog…spellchecker of some type. If you are like me (I’m seeking common ground, here), my head moves much faster than my fingers.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:41 am
LOL, well, if you knew my kids, you might cheer for me to eat them. As for munching on republicans; no thanks…tough cookies, they be <== more pirate talk LOL
October 8th, 2008 at 12:43 am
Colorado 49.3 45.3 Obama +4.0
Ohio 48.9 44.9 Obama +4.0
Florida 48.3 45.3 Obama +3.0
Nevada 49.6 46.6 Obama +3.0
Missouri 47.8 47.5 Obama +0.3
Virginia 49.9 45.1 Obama +4.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:47 am
During the primaries, the margin of error for Obama was much more than 4% in Pa, NH, CALIFORNIA, and other states.
Heck, if you take out the confederate states, it’s the blue states that overestimate Obama the most in polls. That’s why 4% is just too small for Obama followers to get excited about.
Yellow Dog. Source?
October 8th, 2008 at 12:56 am
So Obama is currently ahead in the polling numbers.
Does this mean that you democrats do NOT want Hillary to be substituted in and Obama kicked out?
October 8th, 2008 at 1:03 am
Why wasnt Obama aksed if (God forbid) he somehow won, would his first order be to paint the whitehouse black?
October 8th, 2008 at 1:06 am
No, he’d ask Bill Ayers to paint it a swell shade of blue….maybe, purple….
October 8th, 2008 at 1:15 am
I’m rewatching on CNN with the tacking gadget thing going on….man, it says it all.
October 8th, 2008 at 1:16 am
let me guess, CNN is showing Obama has more favorable support?
Is it true that an internal email at cnn tells its employees that they are required to vote for Obama but without using his name directly?
October 8th, 2008 at 1:18 am
It isn’t them…it’s the gadget controllers…the independent voters they have using it.
October 8th, 2008 at 1:21 am
hey rob how’s it going?
October 8th, 2008 at 1:25 am
i see the chatroom is filled with more angry conservatives! lol!
October 8th, 2008 at 1:26 am
Well, it is sad to see McCain do so poorly. It’s like watching a great champion fight on too long. His best chance was back in 2000. Now, he’s taken a few too manhy head shots. He’s lost a step, and I for one, find it almost hard to watch him struggle with what Karl’s kids are telling him to do. It’s sad. It would never change my vote, but I find it sad.
October 8th, 2008 at 1:32 am

Your friend epiphany seems to have disappeared. Bob the union man appears in the chat-stream sometimes.
Colmes draws many “angry conservatives”. Freepers, left over from when Colmes was picking on Miss Sarah. Angry conservatives are drawn in here like bugs will gather around a yard light.
October 8th, 2008 at 1:36 am
lol!!
October 8th, 2008 at 1:38 am
Wish people could leave the BS insults aside and stick to the issues. gets old listening to this tit for tat stuff.
October 8th, 2008 at 1:39 am
I’ll keep my bug zapper handy.
October 8th, 2008 at 1:40 am
I enjoy your contributions, Robert. Lotsa fun :)
October 8th, 2008 at 1:44 am
so I didn’t see the debate. How was it overall. Anything productive from either of them?
October 8th, 2008 at 2:00 am
Both are claiming a victory as expected.
AP is out with a story that Obama may have received millions in donations from abroad.
October 8th, 2008 at 6:37 am
McCain Looked old!, wait, he is 72.
Where is his Lapel flag pin?, right, war hero, he does not need one.
He needed an oxigen mask and a wheelchair last night.
October 8th, 2008 at 11:20 am
LLL demeans women:
AP is out with a story that Obama may have received millions in donations from abroad.
Hey LLL, chicks don’t like to be called ‘broads’. Get with the 21st century already.
Plus, according to campaign finance law, one dame can’t give millions to a candidate. Maybe this doll gave 2300 schmackeroonies, but I find it hard to believe this honey gave millions.
Now please cease using words like ‘broad’. Show a little sensitivity.
October 8th, 2008 at 11:33 am
Not much good debate here…..just mean words. Don’t learn much about why we want Obama. I am thinking about voting for McCain….Obama disked HILLORY. Then she has a good chance next election. Obama is not ready and I think he will make things worse!
October 8th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
carepi, grow up.

Linda,
Garsh, ya think?
October 8th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
CNN’s tracking device was fascinating.
An aggregate of the “undecided” Ohio voters seemed to track “positive” for Obama over McCain during the debate, but… when asked face-to-face after the debate who they were probably going to vote for, the Ohio voters tucked tail and raised their hands for whitey, although to be fair, the number of undecideds and Obama voters seemed to outnumber them.
The other interesting thing was, every time McCain attacked Obama, the group’s aggregate opinion of him took a nosedive.

Sarah,
I watched the debate on CNN (their sound quality was better than FOX, at least on my cable feed)
I am surprised the F2F result was in favor of McCain – Obama was very noticeably tracking more favorable than McCain, especially amongst the fillies (to carry my previous joke in this thread one post too far).
Every time either of them went negative, the response was negative as well. But people do respond to negative ads, obviously. Maybe it is a short term vs. long term thing. In the short term people don’t like it, but once it has had time to fester in their subconscious it has the desired effect. Anyway, interesting, and not good for Obama.

I am so suprised that McCain didn’t crush Obama when he was talking about how he would fight genocide.
McCaine must have felt kind by not replying ( Then why not support the war in iraq ,and the stopping of that genocide.) or When Obama said he was planning to get most of the money for his budget from the money he would save not having troops in Iraq. Then a few minutes later said he would just move the troops to Afhganistan. My question is how can you save any money for the budget if the troops will still be in the middle east unless he plans to leave them there with no support?
October 8th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
McCain wouldn’t leave them there with NO support, but they DO give mopre to the private contractors.
October 8th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
I know McCain wouldn’t the question is would Obama?
October 8th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Hi, Um Cara: “Every time either of them went negative, the response was negative as well.”
Absolutely, when Obama did it, it went down or flat-lined as well. But in keeping an eye on it, it diidn’t seem to lurch nearly as much as when McCain did it. This might not mean they disagree with McCain, though.
Perhaps in the privacy of the polling booth, the positives will carry over.

If it were a “best of five” ticket debate series, John and Sarah would be done for the season. Obama was even judged to win on Fox. That alone should get him twelve extra “Rove sucks” points.
The daily tracking polls showed on a decrease in support for John relating more to his campaign’s failed personality slime tactics….oh, the Sarah hate mob rallies only affect the wingnuts.
In seven days, both will show up for one more debate…maybe. I’m wondering if John will run off to see about stopping the Pacific tide from coming in. His last suspension of his campaign only resulted in him running over 1000 ads during the suspension….great ability to manage things, John….your own campaign didn’t even follow your directions.

Negative campaigns no longer work.

Dear Alan
I never look at as a McCane as an old man. Look Governer Plin was looking like Joe Bidon’s daughter. Some one is always older than some one. My 18 year old nephew think Barack Obama is an old man and he talks like his English teacher. The debate was super boaring. Democrats will say Obama own and Republinans will say McCane own.
May be they should have a debate and Modaretors will be Alan and Sean.
My opinion is, conservative indeprndents will vote for Sen McCane and Labaral Indipendents will vote for Sen Obama. Debates are super corrapted.Bottom line is democrats wants to win. Obama people are doing same thing as the did with Hillary. They are buying vote and declairing victory. Hollywood money is behind Sen. Obama.

This is a very bad man WTF. I am a christian woman from Kenya. Odinga murdered many Christians. Obama endorsed him. He is Obama cousin. You use the n word and say others do to. What about the thousands of Christians murdered and limbs cut off by Obama’s cousin. I guess black Christian people are not worth as much. Shame on you. Obama has never repented for this. He is responsible for endorsing him and gave him credibility.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
I have not posted for a long time. I am disgusted. I wanted Hilliary to be nominated. I do not like Obama nor do I trust him. Last nights debate confirms it.
I wished Hilliary could still get in. Obama has to many
scandals around him.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Why do you think Hillary wouldn’t be smeared by all the old smears?
October 8th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
I will vote for McCain….can’t trust Obama at all. He could have had Hillary on his ticket and he didn’t even concider it. We do not know Obama and he has to many shady deals and friends.
October 8th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Oh, puhleeze.

Robert Blair
You must have been watching a differant OFX news than what I saw, IN the telephone poll McCain won that debate with over 80%. I just wish he wouls have pulled out the stops and really hit Obama with his own words. for example when Obama said he was going to get most of the money for his proposed budget from not having troops in Iraq then turned around and said he would move the troops to Afghanistan. You cannot keep the troops in the middle east and not spend the money to keep them there.

I cancelled my subscription to Fox news channel here in England. What I dont understand is how a quiet decent man like Mr Colmes, shares a stage with somebody who as climbed out of the gutter like(Hannity).
Its hardly surprising my country as major problems with idiots like that being allowed to broadcast there cynical and zenaphobic views. Perhaps Mr Colmes can ask Profanity why our country has to borrow trillions of $$$$ from China to function and keep going. We keep on about human rights and China being a communist country, yet George Bush/JohnMcCain keep going cap in hand to the Chinese so they bail us out.

Fox is the only station you can learn all the news…others are one sided. I like to know what I am talking about and not just one point of view…make up my own mind! Hillary is one thing….Obama is another!
Obama didn’t even concider her for the ticket. If you listen to all the facts….he has a lot of things he does’t want anyone to know or ask about. Not ready to have him run our Country.
As far as Colmes he….I don’t like how he talks over everone when he doesn’t want to hear what they have to say. Give me Kristin Powers any day….she doesn’t make us look like a bunch of weirdos

Bah. Tony probably still has BBC, CNN International, maybe Bloomberg, plus all the local stuff. You are crazy, Linda, if you think Fox is the only valid station to get the news.
I like Fox fine, it is good to get a perspective on how conservatives think, but there is no way it is ‘fair and balanced’ like they say. Sure they generally bring in a Republican and a Democratic guest, but the Republicans get tossed softballs, and the Democrats are asked questions like ‘When did you stop beating your wife’.
Plus, OVERWELMINGLY, the regular commentators on Fox are conservative. Fox is obviously conservative, if you watch carefully you can catch them giggle when they say ‘fair and balanced’.

MCCain is a proven war hero who fought bleed and remained faithful to this country for 5 years of torture. Obama has no record of anything. Joe Biden said Obama is not tested

McCain is riseing in the polls because he is a friend of the people.
