Obama, Acorn, And Fighting The Latest Smear
One of the narratives Republicans are developing in the presidential campaign (now that every other one has failed) is to tie Barack Obama to ACORN, a community organizing group that has been accused of fraud in voter registration in swing states. The McCain campaign is hitting hard Obama’s work as an attorney for the group years ago, his having conducted leadership training events, and money paid by the Obama campaign to Citizen Services, Inc., an ACORN affiliate, for the purpose of registering voters.
ACORN responds to charges against the group:
“Rumors of Acorn’s voter fraud have been greatly exaggerated and to a large extent manufactured,” Bertha Lewis, the organization’s interim chief organizer, or chief executive, said Monday in a conference call to announce that the organization had registered 1.3 million people to vote.
Ms. Lewis said it was Acorn itself that informed state officials about some questionable registrations collected by its employees that are now under investigation. Acorn said it had terminated the workers involved.
It turns out that when Obama represented ACORN in a 1995 lawsuit, ACORN was on the same side as the Justice Department. The training events consisted of two hours of work. And, money paid to Citizen Services was reported in campaign filings.

First of all, I’m sure that after the Florida voting issues that the Repubs are RELISHING in the opportunity to accuse a Democrat of voter fraud.
Second, the Fight the Smears summation on the Obama/ACORN connection states that Obama is being attacked with “naked lies” on this subject. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter. Most Americans are too damned busy to do any real research to determine the truth or falsehood of political accusations.

This is why Iglesias from New Mexico was fired.
In fact, two of the nine U.S. Attorneys who were fired in 2006 were targeted because they refused to bring criminal charges against individuals affiliated with ACORN, according to interviews and a Justice Department report issued last week on the circumstances behind the federal prosecutor firings. The firing of another U.S. Attorney was due, in large part, to his refusal to convene a grand jury and secure an indictment against individuals for voter fraud.
But it’s the firing of former New Mexico U.S. Attorney David Iglesias and the accusations of voter fraud leveled against ACORN by GOP operatives in that state that appeared to be the most egregious case of partisan politics, according to the DOJ report.
Iglesias said that Republican officials in his state were far less interested in election reforms and more intent on suppressing votes.

The paper quotes Barack Obama on his role as head of Project Vote and says the statement ‘linked his 1992 work to ACORN in a meeting with ACORN’s leaders in November.’ In fact, Barack Obama has a long relationship with ACORN, to which he and unrepentant terrorist William Ayers funneled nearly $200,000 from the Woods Foundation, and as recently as February of this year his campaign paid nearly $1 million to an ACORN affiliate for services related to get out the vote efforts. It is clear that Barack Obama is not being honest about his association with ACORN, just as he has not been honest about his association with unrepentant terrorist William Ayers. The media has an obligation to investigate the obvious contradictions between Barack Obama’s rhetoric and his record.

I went to a Obama rally yesterday. I was very disappointed. The people who were there were mostly paid by the unions to appear. But the other group were communist party members and every radical group imaginable. They strong armed the crowd and pushed away the people who did not have signs. I was the President of Columbia University and Barack Obama was my favorite student. Ah yes I remember him well. He was a good student and always held doors for me. He would always bow in my presence and sometimes sing My Yiddishe Mama if he had the time. Sometimes he chewed gum. I did once catch him in the men’s bathroom smoking a cigarette but I don’t want to get into that. That was definitely unsavory.
Sometimes though, he didn’t make his classes because as you said Accorn, he was a member of the Black Panthers and the Black Liuberation Army. Also the Black Lubrication Army and the Black MUSLIN Fabric Liberation Army. Also the Black Liberia Party and the Black Librarian Army.
He missed some classes with all that activity but hell, he’ll always be tops with me!

Barack Obama’s handlers and enablers cannot argue that it didn’t happen. Barack Obama’s “Fight the Smears” page says he never organized with AC ORN (i.e. he claims he wasn’t there), which has been exposed as an outright falsehood. Now that his own campaign has been implicated directly with highly credible allegations of election deceptions, he can’t even argue that he was just following orders.

Regarding abortion, the Republican party has been using that issue for a long time to get people to vote for them, but it is established law. Electing McCain will not cause the constitution to change, thus making abortion illegal.
I’m sure your church has a number of charitable activities around supporting unwed mothers. Probably praying and helping in those types of activities would do more for preventing abortions than electing McCain.

Obama is for abortion and letting live births die. We do have programs for un wed mothers including adoption. The Cardinal said a catholic can not vote for a politician that believes in abortion. They are in direct violation of the bible. As a 87 year old Catholic I agree with the Cardinal. Obama treats babies like merchandise. I am very impressed with Sarah Palin and her love for the unborn as well as the children.

Working along side ACORN is not the same as working FOR ACORN.
The money Obama’s campaign gave ACORN earlier this year was for voter registration for the primaries.
Many of the ‘questionable’ registrations were pointed out by ACORN itself.
