Palin Making False Assertions About Troopergate
Republicans would call it “lying” if Obama did this. Reporters from the Anchorage Daily News, KTVA-Channel 11 and KTUU-Channel 2 were allowed one question each on a conference call, with no follow-ups. Here is a transcript and audio of the call.
One of the things Palin said was:
“Well, I’m very very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing,” Palin said, “any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that.”
Jake Tapper at ABC shows that this is untrue. The report did say that Palin’s firing of the Alaska Safety Commissioner “was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.” The report goes on to say:
[Palin] “knowingly, as that term is defined in … statutes, permitted Todd Palin to use the Governor’s office and the resources of the Governor’s office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired. Her conduct violated AS 39.52.110(a) of the Ethics Act…”
The report states: “I find that Governor Sarah Palin Abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act … Compliance with the code of ethics is not optional…
Asked by the Anchorage Daily News if she did anything wrong Palin said, “So no, not having done anything wrong, and again very much appreciating being cleared of any legal wrongdoing or unethical activity at all.”
But she was not cleared of any “unethical activity.”
Palin also stated “There was no abuse of authority at all in trying to get Officer Wooten fired.” That may be her opinion but it is not what the panel concluded.
Palin elaborated by saying, “I don’t micromanage my commissioners and ask them to hire or fire anyone, and thankfully the truth was revealed there in that report, that showed that there was no unlawful nor unethical activity on my part.”

This woman is most unsuited to the position she has been put forward for. McCain’s choice of Palin as running mate has demonstrated his lack of either competence or good judgment. The American people deserve better than this!
The conservatives are so dishonest! Imagine what Hannity would do with this IF this was a finding against a Democratic nominee… I can’t wait to how Hannity will try to put a positive spin on this!

Palin did not rise to the top because of her efforts to get a good education. She rose because she had the ability to bite and destroy the hands that helped her. Mr.Tapper and the Committee and Alan all seem to have overlooked one large factor in this finding.Which puts it and the complete investigation in the true political perspective.When you are elected to office you DONOT lose your rights as a citizen.That said the committee said that Todd Palin was the one pressuring Monegan to fire his brother-in-law and that she did not stop him.Now as a citizen it was and is his right to do that if he feels that his brother-in-law did something unsafe,illegalor unfitting as a State Trooper.Now look at the facts as admitted to on National TV by Trooper Wooten.He tasered his 10 year old STEPSON (Todds nephew not step nephew)he was caught drunk on duty in the police car more then once,he has or had other abuse complaints against him,but would not comment on them.He amitted to illegally shooting moose.When asked if he had made any threats against any members of Palins family he said of course not.With his background of abuse and unlawful acts would you believe him.But yet the “impartial and unbiased”committee felt that Todd had no right to do everything he could to have this low life slime ball fired.Monegan felt 3 days off was punishment enough.And yes if I was the Palins and Monegan had done that I would have done everything I could to get Monegan fired also.And I’m sure if anyone of you had been in their place you would have also.This was a complete kangaroo court from the begining and the reported findings show the lack of intelligence of the committee.And the plain hatred of the peopleon this site.

The committee that investigated Sarah could have returned a recommendation to proceed with a criminal investigation. It returned no such recommendation.
While the Dem members of the committee were under extraordinary pressure from the Obama campaign to find something to smear Sarah with and they came up empty handed.

The reason why there was no recommendation was because Alaska is an employment at will state; therefore, in reality she was within her right to fire the safety commissioner. To refresh your memory the Troopergate investigation was started months before Palin was picked by McCain as VP. However, it was found that both she and the first DUDE abused their power in the firing. Furthermore, why would the first DUDE be calling anyone about firing anyone in the Alaska government? He has absolutely no position in that government! And then both thumbing their noses at the legal system by refusing to testify. Where do you think “Joe six pack” would be if he refused to testify?It’s just more of the same old Bush above the law mentality.

Jesus, after watching the markets free-fall last Friday, why would ANYONE question other countries’ interest in this election?
THEY have to live with the consequences, too! The Bush administration, by and large, has been a NIGHTMARE for other countries.
Tony Blair lost credibility, the German chancellor got groped by Bush for godsakes, and thousands of foreign troops have lost their lives in the Middle East.

I guess @ this point that’s the best thing for her to say. She is still under investergation with he personell board to defind if their is any unlawfulness in her mis-trust to the ppls for ethnics reasons. I think Palin should not judge Sen.Obama since she has be proven to use her POWER in the wrong way. Why was Todd involved in the case and using public office to talk to the commissioner concerning the brother-n-law. There is always two sided to any marriage and Yes Palin is lying since this was her sister. Palin has to mush negative baggage that has not be resloved to consider herself for he 2nd highest position in the US. Palin should resign.

So if you knew a Police officer who beat your sister in Law, tasered your Newphew, shot moose illegaly and who knows what else- you would do nothing to get this person fired?? He has every right to call people inside the Goverment and demand action. Most of us would do something-atleast he didn’t beat the s!!! out of the guy. We live in a Democracy and have every right to call up any politician and demand action!

Why is he a professor at a school in Chicago and living quiet well. He may be an unrepented terrorist as Sean harps on. He had to say something when he was standing in front of the judge who let him walk. What’s with that? Could you bring people on your show who can explain this so sean can stop sucking his thumb long enough to listen I would like to know. I think we want to hear the results.

Since Palin reads all the newspapers and magazines I’m sure she read the commision report or maybe her handlers posted it on a teleprompter and she read it from there. Like GW she can’t put a sentence together without a teleprompter. The supporters of Palin are having a campaign in there pants.

What Barry Obama’s Tax Plan means to us. In the words of T Boone “It will be the Greatest Transfer of wealth ” in human history. The transfer of our Tax Dollars to those who do not pay TAXES.
It is the biggest wealth redistribution scheme in history. To make it FAIR ( Barry O and Nancy Pelosi) for those who do not have as much. ( We want to be fair, now. Nancy use your own money)
They want our Tax Dollars to fund their Radical leftist programs ( wealth redistribution), entitlement programs ( to buy more votes later, and get you hooked on government handouts, free money) .
It is really sad that you work ,save ,invest , for a better life and finally get to where you can relax and Barry O , Nancy P. want to take it away ( Higher Taxes, i.e. steal it ) from you to give to those who do not pay taxes and those who do not work.. To pander and buy votes with government handouts, entitlements . We ( The Tax Payers) did not get any special deals or handouts from the government, we worked for it, we invested it, we saved it for the future . And, thus we will be penalized for our hard work and financial planning.
It does not give one a lot of incentive succeed and strive toward the American Dream , because when you get to that MAGIC $250,000 , Ol Barry O and Nancy P are going to take it away from you, give it to someone else.
Plus the Democrats are already talking about reinstituting the Band On Offshore Drilling. Talk about Political year lies and deceit for political gain.

Gov. Palin has a lot of nerves calling Sen. Obama a terrorist. I saw and heard from MSNBC last week and on CNN this morning that she has close ties to the Alaska Independent Party. This group is a radical group that wants nothing to do with the United States. I also heard that she will be called back next week for another hearing concerning her abuse of power.
I would like to know why other networks are not covering this.
Also, the Acorn drama does not have anything to do with Sen. Obama. He did help to start the voters registeration drive along with the Justice Department back in the day when he was a lawyer.
Also, the voters registerations taken that was illegal had nothing to do with Sen. Obama. The dishonest workers trying to make a buck did the wrong because they were lazy. Those fraudalent applications will not affect the elections because those none existing people can not vote without the proper identifications. The dishonest people just made up names in order to be paid. They were in the wrong not Sen. Obama. I speaking from what I heard from MSNBC and CNN. Thank you
