Colin Powell: “I’ll Be Voting For Barack Obama”

On Sunday Morning’s “Meet the Press” former Secretary of State Colin Powell explains why he is supporting Barack Obama for president. Among his reasons:
- Concern about Sarah Palin
- McCain not ready to deal with economic crisis
- GOP moved too far to the right
- Obama gives a broader, more inclusive view than Republicans do
- Disappointment with focus on Bill Ayers, making the McCain campaign look narrow
- Concern with likely conservative appointments to the Supreme Court
- Muslim-bashing on the right, as members of the Islamic faith die for us in Iraq
- Obama has style and substance and is a transformational figure

DENVER (AP) – Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput labeled Barack Obama the “most committed” abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a “disservice to the church.”
Chaput, one of the nation’s most politically outspoken Catholic prelates, delivered the remarks Friday night at a dinner of a Catholic women’s group.
His comments were among the sharpest in a debate over abortion and Catholic political responsibility in a campaign in which Catholics represent a key swing vote.
While Chaput has won praise from traditionalist Catholics for stressing opposition to abortion as a foundational voting issue, voices on the Catholic left have sought to apply church teachings to war, poverty, the environment and other issues.
Although the Catholic left is not new, several advocacy groups have either formed or ramped up activities since 2004. Partly, their efforts are a response to attention given to the pro-abortion rights stance of Democrat John Kerry, a Catholic who was criticized by a few bishops who suggested he should be denied or refrain from Communion.
Chaput, without getting into much detail, called Obama the “most committed” abortion-rights major-party presidential candidate since the landmark Roe v. Wade decision on abortion in 1973.
“To suggest – as some Catholics do – that Senator Obama is this year’s ‘real’ pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse,” Chaput said according to his prepared remarks, titled “Little Murders.”

Colin Powell was a affirmitive action promoted thru his life. He has always been a liberal. During the gulf war he sat at a desk in D.C. and was not in combat. The media called him a hero of the gulf war. Powell was asked to leave the state dept because of incompetance. As for Powell voting for Obama. It is RACISM he is voting for a black because he is black. If a white was to vote white they would be called racist. Every job powell had was left worse than when he came.

White man gets endorsement from four former secratarys of State and 200 white generals
Appearing on “FOX News Sunday,” McCain responded to the news of Powell’s endorsement by saying he still admires and respects his old friend.
“Well, I have always admired and respected General Powell. We are longtime friends. This doesn’t come as a surprise. But I am also very pleased to have the endorsement of four former secretaries of state … and I am proud to have the endorsement of well over 200 retired army generals and admirals,” McCain said, noting the support offered by Henry Kissinger, James Baker, Lawrence Eagleburger and Alexander Haig.
Powell, who has been critical of the war in Iraq despite repeatedly saying he supported the decision to go in, said he is more concerned with the future than the past.
“We now see that things are a lot better in Iraq. Maybe if we had put a surge in in the beginning, it would’ve been a lot better,” he said.

Powell when he left the State Dept.Went to work as a lobyist for the Saudi govt. Surprise the Saudi Govt hasw poured millions into Obama’s campaign. With all the Saudi puppets in our midst it is no wonder the media will not talk about the 250 million dollars from the middle east into Obama’s campaign. Obama is a Marxist and surrounds himself with middle east terrorists. Powell know’s that Powell’s new name Ali Benedict Powell. I served with him in Vietnam. Not Cool: Obama’s Pro-abortion Stance, and Christians enabling him

A year and a half ago, when I first heard about Barack Obama, I got excited. I really wanted to support him. An evangelical Christian told me Obama was prolife. I didn’t care that Obama was a Democrat. I wanted a pro-life, pro-environment, pro-racial equality president who took seriously our need to care for the poor and defend the needy.
Granted, I also wanted someone who wasn’t a New Age anti-industry activist with a “Meat is Murder” bumper sticker. I wanted someone who is committed to national defense, but knows when not to go on offense. I wanted someone who doesn’t hear every Douglas fir screaming when it’s cut down.
But, frankly, I relished the opportunity to show I wasn’t a lockstep Republican. I was, and still am, tired of the Pat Robertson sort of Republicanism that supported proabortion-Republican-who-publicly-cheated-on-his-wife Rudy Giuliani because he’s the only guy who could beat Hillary. (This was a non-prophetic endorsement on too many levels to count.)
That Barack Obama is an African-American was a real plus to me, and not for superficial reasons. I believed it could help further the vision of Martin Luther King in my favorite speech of the modern era, in which he said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” I get tears in my eyes just hearing that speech in my head.
I knew from the first time I heard him speak that Obama was cool. And if the candidate I supported, for reasons of substance, also happened to be cool, that would be a nice plus. I coach high school tennis, and I like it when the kids like me. And hey, my generation invented the word cool! (Of course it also invented the word groovy, but….).
Then the sad day came. I checked out Obama’s actual position on abortion and I was demoralized. I found that in every single vote related to the issue he’s favored abortion, its legality and even the killing of children who survive abortion.
But Obama is savvy. He wants to attract young voters, including young evangelical Christians who are sort-of-prolife. He knows to say that he favors reducing or limiting abortions. Which is like limiting rather than criminalizing murder and rape and kidnapping and slavery. A candidate could say “I’m personally opposed to rape,” while he has a 100% voting record favoring the legality of rape. And he could say he favors limiting or reducing the number of rapes. But if he actually supports the legality of the hideous crime of rape, discerning people would see through his rhetoric of rape-reduction.
When I discovered Obama was an all-out defender of legalized child-killing, I was disappointed beyond words. And I knew that in the next election, I was not going to get to be cool.

It’s true that because many felt he had SO much integrity, that they were more willing to believe him when he gave the speech that he now calls a “blot on his record”, they felt that he was placing loyalty to his boss above country.
As far as calling him, a liar, a traitor and un American, some probably have, but seriously, NO ONE uses that divisive rhetoric more than the GOP. It is practically their trademark, since Newt Gingrich’s study, ‘Language: A Mechanism For Control’.
I stated MANY times that if Powell had spoken up and resigned, HE may have been our first black president.
I think the reason he is endorsing Obama now, is because he knows how far the GOP has come from the principles that he once shared with them.

With that short and brief explaination on why you are voting for obama, you have expressed to the nation, the differences between obama and mccain, the differences between obama supporters yelling “change”,
while the Mccain supporters yelling “terrorists and to kill obama”
Mr. Powell, you have opened your eyes and ears to both candidates and like all those good Americans, we know the reality. Obama is the voice of change.
McCain is the voice of the past.

McCain: Obama fundraising hurts public financing
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The vast sums of money Barack Obama is raising for the presidential campaign risk the post-Watergate financing reforms, Republican rival John McCain charged Sunday.
Speaking a few hours after Obama’s campaign reported raising a record $150 million in September, McCain said the overall sum the Democrat has raised for his campaign — $605 million — showed the “dam has broken” for future White House races.
He also complained that the identities of people who contributed more than $200 million of Obama’s total take have not been reported, although that is allowable under federal law because the individual donations fall under the $200 reporting limit.
“I’m saying it’s laying a predicate for the future that can be very dangerous,” McCain said on “Fox News Sunday.” “History shows us where unlimited amounts of money are in political campaigns, it leads to scandal.”
The Arizona senator has been limited to spending $84 million for the general election campaign after accepting federal funds under a program created after the Watergate scandal. Obama initially indicated he would adhere to the same limit, but reversed course and became the first post-Watergate candidate to finance a general-election campaign with private funding.

Obama cuts out tax breaks and raises you taxes.

[1] Make less profit for you and your shareholders.
[2] Raise the cost of a gallon of gas to keep profits consistant.
If 1, you will be screwing over middle america that is invested in exxon, including many many (google it) governmental retirement accounts for teachers, firefighters, etc.
If 2, you will be screwing over middle america that buys petroleum based products. (not just gas, but also plastic products, etc.)

Now we learn of another success by Obama using this playbook. Kenyan insiders say Obama was part of takeover strategy
Former members of Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement party have told WND when Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama visited Kenya on a “fact-finding” trip in 2006, he was carrying out part of a secret election strategy that also included exploiting divisive tribal tensions and ultimately taking advantage of rioting that left 1,000 dead.
This strategy included the following
Odinga did conduct a campaign against President Mwai Kibaki by charging his administration with corruption, advancing anti-Kibaki sentiments aimed at inciting Kenyan youth to vote for Odinga and ultimately calling for protest by Odinga’s fellow Luo tribal members. The “protests” turned violent, and in January and February a brutal wave of Odinga-supporting, machete-wielding Luo mobs killed an estimated 1,000 members of the Kikuyu tribe, displaced over 350,000 Kenyans from their homes and destroyed some 800 Christian churches, all without a single mosque being damaged.
The sources reported Odinga simply was following the script his policy strategists laid out for him in the Nyongo strategy document.
The general tone of the strategy was to encourage the Odinga campaign to claim to be leading in the presidential race regardless of the actual numbers and be prepared to proclaim victory even if Odinga lost.
The officials poll results showed he lost to the incumbent by about 250,000 votes.
The plan called for “opportunities” for Odinga to pursue, including efforts to “exploit anti-Kikuyu statements,” with a determination to “leverage the vulnerability of the Kibaki administration responses to corruption” and confront Kibaki with “a powerful anti-corruption message.”

Black Catholic Bishop Holley: Abortion Exploits African-American Community
One of the top black Catholic leaders in the nation issued a call for the African-American community to do more to reject abortion. Bishop Martin D. Holley, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington, says a new report underscores the racist nature of abortion and how it preys on black Americans.
Bishop Holley issued a statement LifeNews.com received responding to a report by the Guttmacher Institute, named after a former Planned Parenthood president, showing black women have abortions at five times the rate of white women.
“As an African American, I am saddened by evidence that Black women continue to be targeted by the abortion industry,” the bishop said. “The loss of any child from abortion is a tragedy, but we must ask: Why are minority children being aborted at such disproportionate rates?”
“Our legitimate commitment to other social concerns must not push the primary moral issue of abortion onto the back burner. It clearly must be at the heart and center of our discussion of the survival of African American people,” Bishop Holley said.
The report, released in September, found that, although abortion rates have declined among all racial and ethnic groups, large disparities persist with Hispanic and black women obtaining abortions at rates three and five times higher, respectively, than non-Hispanic white women.
Between 1994 and 2004, the abortion rate for Hispanic women fell by 20% and there was a 30% decline among non-Hispanic white women. But black women saw the lowest decline — at 15 percent during the same time period.
Black women account for 37% of abortions, white women for 34%, Hispanic women 22% and women of other races 8%.
Holley serves as chairman of the Sub-Committee on African American Affairs at the States Conference of Catholic Bishops and is a member of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities.
In comments provided to LifeNews.com, Bishop Holley also called for the federal defunding of the abortion industry.
“Every year the federal government gives over $300 million to Planned Parenthood. Last year for the first time, Planned Parenthood took in over one billion dollars and reported a profit of $51 million,” he said of the supposed non-profit organization.
The Bishop called upon African Americans to “defend our community by rededicating ourselves to family life and marriage, promoting the gift of chastity and marital fidelity, committing ourselves to prayer and service to others and defending the life and dignity of each human person.”
“We can welcome every child as a gift and we can overcome abortion,” he said.

Bishop reminds Catholics to remember Judgment Day in the voting booth

Robert J. Herman, the administrator of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, has written a column reminding Catholics that their vote will be a decision weighed on the Day of Judgment. He urged Catholics not to treat the unborn as the neglectful rich man treated Lazarus in the biblical parable.
“Judgment Day is on its way,” the bishop wrote in the St. Louis Review. “We cannot stop it. We don’t know when it will come, but just as surely as the sun rises daily, the Son of Man will come when we least expect.”
“For many, this coming election may very well be judgment day, for this election will measure us,” he continued, referencing Christ’s words of judgment in Matthew 10:32-33:
“Everyone who acknowledges Me before others, I will acknowledge before My heavenly Father. But whoever denies Me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.”
Bishop Herman asked the faithful to consider what kind of witness they give to God when they enter the voting booth on Election Day.
“The decision I make in the voting booth will reflect my value system. If I value the good of the economy and my current lifestyle more than I do the right to life itself, then I am in trouble,” the bishop wrote.
