McCain surrogate Nancy Pfotenhauer had a difficult time extracting her foot from her mouth, even when given the chance, after saying McCain is popular in “real Virginia,” as opposed to Northern Virginia.  And that’s because “real Virginia” is “more Southern in nature.”  Does that mean that whatever is “Northern” in America isn’t real?  This dovetails nicely with Sarah Palin’s recent exhilaration at speaking to “the pro-America areas of this great nation.”
