The latest attempt to stay in the race has John McCain and his wing man Lindsey Graham baiting audiences with the “L” word, and  his running mate tossing around the “S” word.  McCain says Palin is being attacked by the “feminist left,” while Graham complains about being under siege by “the liberal media elite.”

In taking a shot at Obama, Graham said to the crowd, “Show us that you understand and see a liberal when he’s standing out there in front of you.”

That’s as opposed to, I’m guessing, an American.  And over the weekend Sarah Palin said Obama is “experimenting with socialism.”

“Barack Obama calls it spreading the wealth,” she said. “Joe Biden calls higher taxes patriotic. But Joe the plumber and Ed the dairy man, I believe that they think that it sounds more like socialism. Friends, now is no time to experiment with socialism.”

Now that’s quite interesting coming from Palin, who just this past summer announced that each Alaskan would get a $1200 “resource rebate” from the government as part of an energy assistance plan.  This is in addition to a $2000 check each Alaskan already receives annually from oil revenues.

John McCain says, “Raising taxes on some in order to give checks to others is not a tax cut; it’s just another government giveaway.” But McCain would tax workers on the value of their health care benefits, while  at the same time saying, “I want to give every American family a $5,000 refundable tax credit. Take it and get anywhere in America the health care that you wish.”

McCain also promises, “I would order the secretary of the Treasury to immediately buy up the bad home-loan mortgages in America and renegotiate at the new value of those homes – at the diminished values of those homes – and let people be able to make those payments and stay in their homes.”

Just who are the “socialists” in this race?
