Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing
I’m tired of seeing so much high fructose corn syrup in beverages.
In soda, it has been found that by using HFCS instead of pure sugar it can make the soda 10 times richer in harmful carbonyl compounds. According to one study, carbonyl compounds are elevated in people with diabetes and are blamed for causing diabetic complications such as foot ulcers and eye and nerve damage. Another study concluded that foods with increased fructose “produced significantly higher fasting plasma triacylglycerol values than did the glucose diet in men” and “if plasma triacylglycerols are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, then diets high in fructose may be undesirable”.
Pure cane sugar is better and better for you than all these sugar substitutes. In fact, Jones soda switched from high fructose corn syrup to pure cane sugar as a marketing tool. I’m now finding myself looking at labels to avoid sugar substitutes. Even if you have to wait for Passover–

–ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby.

We’re too worried about this kinda crap. Everything causes cancer now. Don’t go outside – sun causes cancer.
HFCS is no worse for you than honey or sugar by most studies. Even if it is – who cares.

actually, i stopped drinking coke for a month, and i lost 5 pounds!
it appears that coke actually wides your load(tummy) so for all you people who drink a lot of heavy drinks like coke and dr. pepper and pepsi and you want to lose weight….
try those small packagaes they sell at any dollar general store or even walmart that say:
SUGAR-FREE
it tastes the same (to me) compared to a heavy sugar-carrying drink!
STOP DRINKING THE SUGAR and you will lose the weight in your drink!
look at alan colmes! he is in shape!
all he drinks is sugar-free drinks.. and of course lots and lots of drinks to get drunk from all the political world of sitting next to hannity every night!

Alan, I just want you to thank you for your frankness. I am a long loyal of Fox News and to be frank I used to hate you like anything. Off late, I realized that we conservatives have no moral bearings. I used to think that the college dropouts Hannity, Rush and Glenn Beck are intellectuals, but they are there to earn money by spreading hate. I was in their charm for long. btw, you are also there to earn money but please do not spread hate or classify America into different things.
The moment McCain chose Palin, I realized that I am done with Republicans now. She may be a good governor but he is NOT fit to be a VP (or a P). Someone sent me an image of bumper sticker McCain ‘08/ Palin ‘09 and it scared the hell out of me.
Peter,
Independant.

Everything causes cancer now.
Processed food and animal by products.
actually, i stopped drinking coke for a month, and i lost 5 pounds!
I lost about 7 in 6 weeks.
I was listening to one of our liberal talk radio stations. He had a guest on; Dr. Fuhrman. Check it out.
http://www.drfuhrman.com
I have lost 20 pounds in 9 weeks.

also….
91% OF HFCS’S ARE DERIVATIVES OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED CORN.
AMERICA IS BECOME DEATH.

Alan,
I justed wanted to let you know that even though I’m a conservative, I appreciate your frankness and liberal counterpoint to Sean Hannity’s conservatism daily on Hannity & Colmes. I love it when you tell Sean that you’re a “Liberal and proud of it.” At least you’re honest about being a liberal. Thanks again.

Subject: Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing
“Everything causes cancer now.”
Because most everything we eat and drink is processed full of harmful crap by people who don’t give a damn if you’ve got tumors growing out the sides of your head as long you go on buying the crap they’ll selling.
How do they get away with it? Aided and abetted by the same people who say the FDA doesn’t need any more money because they’ve already got “enough” inspectors.

High Fructose corn syrup is one of the worst things for your body.

I fail to see the significance of resumes to sugar but since I don’t usually drink soda, I’ll remark on the resume. Sen. Obamas’ resume is more impressive than that of Gov. Palins’ resume by virtue of their college education alone. There is no comparison of a journalism degree to that of a law degree. Constitutional law is what governs our society, since Sen. Obama taught this I believe he has a much better grasp of the presidential office. Fortunately he is not campaigning against Gov. Palin but is opposing Sen. McCain, here again, much more impressive degree as Sen. Obama graduated magna cum laude, President, Harvard Law Review, B.A. in political science, specializing in international relations. Sen. McCain gratuated 5th from the bottom of his class. He was a sub par flier, because he had little patience to study flight manuals, was a mediocre pilot, at best, crashing 5 planes. I don’t know what ignorance you refer to as these are facts and I looked them up all by myself. You, however fail to see the reality and rather breed on insignificant drivel and namecalling. Ignorance breeds fear, fear feeds hate, and hate will engulf Sen. McCain and his campaign.

Ha ha suckers! In Brasil Coke uses real sugar, in addition to being healthier, it tastes better.
But, the McDonald’s french fries aren’t nearly as good here, so there is always a trade off I suppose.
October 27th, 2008 at 8:19 am
Faith,
You forgot to mention that Palin is a crazed dinosaur denier who thinks the Antichrist is alive amongst us, and that the rapture will happen in her lifetime. I.e. this evil little woman is too much of a short time thinker to be so close to the nuclear codes.
Not such a good resume, IMO.

I had a roommate that was a dietician and she told me that if you eliminated all sugar drinks from your diet (including some juices which are high in sugar) that you could essentially lose 20 pounds in a year alone without doing anything else.
Well I can’t do that because Coke is so tasty. Luckily Coke Zero isn’t that bad.
October 27th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Hey Conservative,
Why do we conservatives take refuge of Christianity and religion when we start loosing our arguments?
I am a chritian but as far as I know, my religion does not spread hate. This is what Palin is doing and that drives me nuts. It took a long long time for us to get over with this and I am not ready for this over again.
McCain is a very good politician but face it he has lost his bearing. I voted for him in 2000 and 2008 primaries but this time I will probably vote Nader or Obama.

Want something made with real sugar. Then drink Dr Pepper bottled in Dublin, Texas. Its made with real cane sugar and is wonderful! Hard to find though but it’s worth the effort.
October 27th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Eileen…Dublin Dr. Pepper is the soda that God himself drinks.
Great now I want one.
October 27th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
I hear you. Give me the sugar not the substitute.
I love Jones soda.
October 27th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
HFCS is used because the price of US sugar is kept artificially high by the Fanjul family in Florida. 60 Minutes once did a piece on them.
Price ceilings cause shortages, price floors cause surpluses. Rent control causes shortages, ethanol subsidies cause surpluses.
McCain famously and steadfastly, on principle, has NEVER supported ethanol subsidies at any point in his career, much to the chagrin of Iowans.
Free trade lowers prices for everyone and is why Bush should continue to push for free trade with Colombia, South Korea, and one other country I cannot remember.
October 27th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Adam, the other country you might be thinking could be Brazil.
But, while I agree in principle with free trade, I have problems with it when labor leaders/organizers in Columbia are being assassinated regularly, for example.
There have to be some basic human rights parameters applied to free trade.
October 27th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
It’s a free world. Something alot of people are forgetting these days.
