L.A. Times Responds To Accusations of “Suppressing”
In response to the McCain campaign’s claims that the Los Angeles Times is “intentionally suppressing” a potentially damaging videotape of Barack Obama, the Times’ Jamie Gold makes a point that should be obvious:
“More than six months ago the Los Angeles Times published a detailed account of the events shown on the videotape. The Times is not suppressing anything. Just the opposite – the L.A. Times brought the matter to light.“
It’s a bit strange for John McCain to suggest that the Times is guilty of “media bias,” and for Sarah Palin to accuse the newspaper of “kowtowing” to Obama, when it was the Times who exposed this story in the first place. In publishing the story, the Times didn’t do Obama any favors. And anyone who wishes to see that story, including its detailed account of the video, can easily find it here at latimes.com.
It frustrates me that all the media has bias and shows only a “spun” version of what is going on. We need change, but not change from a socialist with ‘iffy ties (Obama) or a Washington insider who is child when looking at economic policy(McCain. Change that begins with the American people. This change will see new leaders chosen and a new direction taken. Unfortunately this would unite the Republicans and Democrats (who would lose power) and they would pay off the media outlets to try to quell true change!

I think LA Times wrote this story and openly discussed the tape back in April is because at that time, the primaries were still going on and they were supporting Hillary Clinton. I’m sure LA Times wanted to help Hillary by writing this anti-Obama story! But now that Obama is the Democratic candidate, being that the LA Times is always in the tank for a Democrat President (just any Joe Blow Democrat really), that they are now protecting Obama from this potentially-harmful indictment against Obama and his nefarious ties to all these anti-American and anti-Israelis that pretend to call themselves Americans.
I cancelled the LA Times about 10 years ago because at that time, I thought they were way too liberally-biased, so at this point, I don’t trust LA Times to ever give me the straight story on anything!
Journalism is DEAD as we know it! I’m ashamed of the LA Times! And they must have no moral scruples to print such a bogus newspaper and make people pay for such a rag!

I was actually reading a paper today, and realized the answer to your statement

Instead, I would propose the old west is coming at The U.S. border states from the lawless drug runners, sometimes the Mexican Army, helping to run drugs and human smugglers coming out of Mexico.

I can’t think of any argument that would explain why news media either by television or by print could ever be referred to as “liberal” or “biased.” I have been watching CNN and other news agencies for years and also read several newspapers. I think that the reason John McCain and Sarah Palin are so behind in so many aspects is because they accuse everyone and everything as being “Liberal Or Biased” if we don’t agree with them. It’s crap! But if I were a seasoned politician as John Mccain is, I would not have picked such a bad running mate and I would not have declared war against the same agencies that could have made or broke my political career. It’s incredible. Any person with Any real rational thinking would find this to be another Piss poor tactic by the McCain/Palin ticket. Republicans should have known better. They used these same media agencies in the past and they helped their cause and they were therefore elected. So, what is the difference now?

People with real rational thinking are leaving the major media outlets by the droves, because of the bias they show. Newspapers are losing money hand over fist now. They are slipping in every area of accounting that can be applied. Do the numbers not mean, a whole lot of people think bias in the media is a major problem. Why is fox leading the pack now of all the news outlets, or at least the cable news channels.

The reason why people are attracted to Fox is because they enjoy the sensationalistic, self-righteous conservativism that’s overly exaggerated on that show.
Conservatives are addicted to Fox, but what’s scary is that they view exaggerated levels of bias as “balanced.”
And the reason why print newspapers (the most credible source in our country) are losing money– and not all are– is because of the advent of all other forms of media, AND the fact that America has become too cheap and lazy and STUPID (illiterate) to read and understand print news.

I think it is the other way around. We watch it because we feel we are getting the truth, and we see it, by all the stories they break that the big 3 and the major newspapers don’t cover. Also, you are right about newspapers losing customers because of other outlets, mainly the internet, but I believe that opens the information flood gates, not allowing them to be the official gate keeper any longer, and it is showing.

Hannity/Comes is way slanted to the right. There are many , many regular on the payroll Fox conservatives (Hannity, Rove, Dick morris, etc… all against Colmes.
And because Colmes is a decent human being who actually let’s the guests speak (whatever side of the political spectrum), the conservatives guests get way more airtime than the liberal ones do. Hannity asks a question, answers it himself, asks another, he himself gives a fake answer he thinks the guest might give, then asks the real question, then interrupts the guest while the speak (if they are a liberal guest)
I like H&C because I like Alan, and I respect the good fight he brings to the table day, after day – but that show is WAY not fair and balanced.

Colmes is a decent human being who actually lets the opposing side speak…stop your killing me. He’s a steamroller…. As soon as someone starts making a point he disagrees with he starts talking over them and brings in the liberal guest. He’s quiet most of the time on the tv show because he’s usually wrong and can’t think of anything to say..

My son, Sgt. Daniel Eger, age 25 newly married, is serving this country in Iraq. HE BELIEVES IN WHAT HE IS DOING!!! Don’t let the Liberal media fool you, the Iraqi people are grateful and they have told my son as much. And none of those guys are on the FOX payroll.
I didn’t say there weren’t liberal guests, obviously there are. I’m looking for liberal, paid by FOX, regular contributors (Juan is one, but he is hardly ever on the show, nowhere near as much as Rove or Dick – I wouldn’t call Mort liberal, and he too is almost never on the show)

I agree it is shameful the way Bush has limited press access to things like coffins being offloaded of planes, and press access to military funerals (in the cases where the families want them).
It does seem like Bush has done as much as he can to try to make us forget the men and women dying in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Alan, to his credit, every week reads the names of those who have died in Iraq.
