A funny thing happened to me the other day. I’ve been contemplating purchasing a handgun and the other night decided to go to the sporting goods store to find out some information on the various models and prices. I expected to just take a look and ask a few questions, putting my purchase off for a few more weeks if I made it at all. On the way to the store I was listening to your show, something I haven’t had the pleasure of doing before.
After I had listened to several callers and your responses I grew frustrated by the attitude you all displayed. The elitist, we-know-better-than-you, mindset made me shudder to think of the rights you’ll be taking away as soon as you think you can. As I pulled into the parking lot I had changed my mind about looking at guns, I decided I wasn’t leaving the store without owning one. I’ll need it after you and your liberal friends begin dismantling the Constitution and doing away with my rights.
Yes, Mr. Colmes, I have rights, if you don’t like some of them that’s fine but don’t think because your candidate wins the election you get to re-write the Constitution. The founders put the second amendment in it as a check on government power and a way for citizens to protect their own lives, not as a guarantee to go hunting or target shooting.
I just wanted to thank you for helping me decide to buy a handgun, without your attitude I may have put it off too long.

I am so glad to listen to your radio show. I am an avid supporter of Barack Obama and I am also a volunteer for the Campaign for Change field office in Colorado. I never used to listen to any Am station before. However, while working on my graveyard shift. I was so pleased to hear someone who shares some of my same oppinions. I was so excited, I have been listening to Am 760 ever since. I am disappointed however with not being able to get through on the phone at night….Oh Well. Alan, the work you are doing is very important. You have a very tough audience. You handle yourself very well. I know you are making a difference because people of all persuasions and party lines call or write to you. If the right wing fringe did not like you, they would stay listening to the same mindless humdrum of the right wing radio stations that specifically cater to them and their ideals. Yet, they call to argue with you regularly. I guess it must be some type of sport! The only reason I believe you receive soooo many angry callers is because there are some people who just don’t know who they should be angry at. They would rather listen to other people who make up their mind for them, or people who will pander to their ideas to reaffirm some type of affirmation that Barack Obama is somehow not one of us and is such a terrible guy. What people don’t seem to realize, is that if Barack Obama had questionable ties or was bad in any way, he would not have been able to run for President of the United States to begin with. For those of you that are reading these posts. Barack Obama is a decent man. He can relate and speak to all sorts of people of various races and ages. It is not a crime to have intellegence or to be educated. Barack Obama is not talking down to anyone. He loves all people. Barack Obama represents one of many types of American dreams. He came from humble beginnings and worked hard to make something of his life and cares so much for the rest of us, that he wants the average “Joe” to have a chance at a good life too. Our Country has changed alot over the years. We are a nation of freedoms and passions that make us hold staunchly to our beliefs and ideas. Nobody is forcing anyone to vote for Barack Obama if you don’t want to. You do have the freedom of choice. So, use your choice wisely and be prepared like all of us to deal with the consequences. Consequences cut both ways.

A family of six died.Mr. Ryan was behind the, License for bride operation. The point is the left wing liberals, and the vast uneducated population of America has chosen to support for President an whose past affiliations are blatantly obvious. Obama and all his questionable affiliations should be taken serious. I am not to the left or to the right. However, it is clear Me. Alan you represented the opposing view very adequately. Sometimes difficult because of Sean’s zealousness. I took the show to be somewhat like high school debate class. The teacher gave you a side to defend and it was not always the side you were on. I feel that your job was to defend liberalism although i felt you did not always align with that view 100%.
Good luck in your venture. I am a conservative and enjoyed both you and Sean on the program. My objection to liberalism in general is that i don’t want confiscatory taxation on my earnings to be spent in areas i don’t agree with. Abortion for example. It is presently the law of the land. Ok, but at least remove state, local and federal funding of it. That makes me a party to the crime.
Again good luck as i believe you indicated that you are christian and that makes us brothers. Just with different views of how charity should be meted out.

I’m a conservative and sided with Hannity’s ideas 97% of the time for his political views while I sided with you 100% of the time for you political views. I guess I agreed with you “politically” 3% of the time.
You have been so important to “balance” FNC. Your time with Sean has give you creedence and I know your next endeavor will be even better.

I kid. I’m very conservative but I guess I miss you on Hannity and Colmes. I don’t see how the show can become just Hannity.
I rarely agreed with you politically (O.K. never) but I had to admire your fairness and open-mindedness, which I truly believe can be and must be a part of any effective liberal or conservative policy.
As a matter of fact, it’s the close mindedness of both the far left and the far right that turns off the American middle(the majority of us all). Ann Coulter pushes people in the center to the left while Bill Maher pushes people in the center to the right. They both confuse the applause they hear from their own choirs as having some meaningful impact on their individual causes. I never felt that you did that.
Hannity and Colmes was the best thing we had since the days of Michael Kinsey and Pat Buchannan on Crossfire.
