Alan Keyes is now behind an effort to deny Barack Obama California’s electoral votes. On what basis, you ask?
The one-time presidential candidate who stopped by Illinois to challenge Obama for a senate seat in 2004 when the Republican Party couldn’t find anyone who actually lived in the state to run, believes documentary evidence is required to prove that President-elect Obama is a natural-born citizen.
Voila!
General Georges Sada, of the Iraqi Air Force under Saddam states in his book, “Saddam’s Secrets” that Fifty-Six (56) plane loads of WMD’s were shipped to Syria before the invasion, plus an unknown number of truckloads. He names the principals in the transactions and states he gave the coalition forces names of the pilots and other particulars.
Most in the intelligence community believe the three 18 wheelers loaded with cash (dollars, Euros, etc.)which disappeared during the invasion actually was payment to Syria for storing the WMD’s.
Further, the 20 tons of chemical materials, including nerve gas and blistering agents, used by Al Zarqawi to construct a chemical bomb in Amman, Jordan must have come from this stockpile. Jordanian intelligence (Mukhabarat) who uncovered the plot on April 26, 2004, stated that had this bomb been exploded, up to 60,000 Jordanians might have been killed.
One more question: I keep hearing people calling PRESIDENT Bush a liar because we went into Iraq after wmd’s and didn’t find them. When there was ample opportunity to sneak them out of the country, how do we know that wmd’s were never in Iraq? We know some were used there so how is it so hard to imagine that they were simply hidden or moved?
All of this is totally unnecessary. I see people looking like fools on both sides of the argument. From what I have seen, I would venture to say that President Elect Obama was more than likely born in Hawaii. On the other hand, I still agree that it is really odd that rather than just get the document and make it available, the Obama campaign tried to bury it. Why not just put it all out in the open and be done with it? The media is not without blame in this either. Digging up all the dirt they can on McCain/Palin that they can find (not to mention Joe the plumber) but they wouldn’t touch this one (because they were afraid it might prove to be true?) and instead just constantly sidestepped it and then after a while had passed of doing nothing indicated that we were beating a dead horse saying that it had already been settled. I don’t understand any of this. If we would all just be open and honest, this would not have happened.

Being born a U.S. citizen has everything to do with the requirements to be POTUS.
John McCain was born outside of the U.S. because his dad was in the military and stationed there at the time of John’s birth, which automatically makes him a citizen of the U.S.
It’s funny how Obama went to Hawaii to visit his sick grandmother and then like majic his birth certificate was sealed so that nobody could see it. And, by the way, his grandmother died on the eve of the election and I do not think he even went to the funeral. What a guy.

Innocent civilians died in the bombing of Iraq, (remember Shock and Awe), whether they were targeted or not. Many more died in the violence that followed, and in the landmines that are the result of cluster bombs.
As for 9/11, Bush/Cheney were not interested in terrorism, because they were focused on missle shields, and invading Iraq.
As for Katrina, they did nothing about the levees, and put an incompetent croney in charge of FEMA. After all, the 04 election was over, and they were just poor people who don’t vote for Republicans anyway.

It does matter; it is in the constitution. You can cry all you want about Bush destroying the constitution, (he didn’t) but it doesn’t matter. We still have one and if Obama is not a citizen, he isn’t qualified to be president. If the media had done their job as reporters, this story would have been researched and done with by now. There are consequences in not doing their jobs.

I have just read the actual court filing in the challenge and it brings up several very lagitimate issues as to Obama’s status as a “natural born citizen”. I hope that he produces the appropriate documents and goes on to be one of our greatest Presidents. BUT if he cannot produce the proof he has no business being president. I thought this issue was all over with and settled but after reading the filing I am very concerned. Read the document!

I was born in Texas, and the current copy of my birth certificate doesn’t look like my original either. And you can barely see the notary seal on my copy (though you can feel it) what are you expecting to see on a low resolution picture? What I can see is a faint line in the lower corner that looks like a notary cert # line from a typical stamp. I would dig mine out but I can’t be arsed to do that over something stupid like this.

They demand to see his so-called ‘vault (original hospital) birth records’. If ‘they’ don’t think the official Certificate of Live Birth issued by the state of Hawaii is proof enough, why would they feel a hospital record is any better? It’s too easy to forge an offical state record, but a hospital record is impervious to forgery?
I guarantee if Obama provided a ‘hospital document’ of his birth – people would immediately claim it was a forgery.

First, the facts:
1) In Hawaii, a Birth Certificate is issued by hospitals and forwarded to officials.
2) A “Certificate of Live Birth” is issued where the infant wasn’t born in a hospital. I.e., born at home or born out of the country.
3) Obama would be a natural citizen IF born in the US OR born to American Parents outside the country (as was John McCain). However, if ONE parent is not an American, and he was born outside the country, then he is not a natural citizen.
4) Anyone can post a birth announcement. It is also very common to post them in places the parents formerly lived. Obama’s doesn’t state where he was born and is thus irrelevant to this discussion.
5) The Certificate of live birth on the Obama web site has been proven to be altered using Photoshop.
6) Constitutionally, IF Obama were to be declared ineligible before being sworn in on January 20th, then the vice-president elect would be sowrn in as president. I.e., Joe Biden would become the 44th president.
7) Historically, the requirement in the Constitution is believed to have been placed there solely to prohibit Alexander Hamilton from ever becoming president.
8) The Alan Keyes lawsuit, if successful, would be quite different. It would prevent California Electors from voting for Obama. While CA’s 55 votes wouldn’t matter, other states might follow. In such a case, Democrats might not have enough votes to elect the president in the Electoral College and, like the 1800 election, the House of Representatives would then make the election. While I’d expect them to elect Joe Biden, the House is not bound to do so by any law. This scenario could be VERY interesting.
So, IF Obama has nothing to hide, and in fact was born in a hospital in Hawaii as he has stated; Why is he (and the DNC) spending bundles of money to fight lawsuits when obtaining and presenting a Birth Certificate would cost less than $25.00? Noting the above possibilities for chaos, you’d think they would be rushing to Hawaii to obtain documents.
Worse, there is some compelling evidence that Obama was adopted by his step-father and became a citizen of Indonesia. (School records, etc.) Thus, he might not be a citizen at all. Note that the U.S. does not allow dual citizenships. While other countries do, and some people retain their former passports, for an American to become a citizen of another country requires renouncing his American citizenship.
Basically, for Obama not to put this to bed by presenting proper documentation reeks of secrecy, conspiracy and plain old political hoodwinking. Do we really want these sorts of actions by our president?

While I agree with most of what you just posted, you are incorrect about this:

Even if born in Hawaii, Obama’s father was a British citizen, who by British law gave his son British citizenship at birth. Obama has admitted as much on his fight the smears web site.
Now, the issue is that people who are dual citizens at birth are not “Natural Born” citizens. They have split allegiance to another country, which is exactly what the founders intended to prevent in the Commander-in-Chief of our armed services.

Hi Sarah, I’m back from “them thar hills” and almost lost my shirt! Just kidding! It was the best time losing my money. Time spent with my daughter was worth more than that.
I don’t understand how some of these people can still think if Pres.-elect Obama is not a citizen, he could still be in the position he is in now. There’s too many factions(ie-republicans) that would not have allowed him to come this far if he were not a citizen.

The Supreme Court will either hear the case or decline to hear the case. Your scenario is valid only if the Court declines to hear the case AND Obama continues to refuse to provide his birth certificate. I.e., Obama has the power to prevent future discussions on this subject simply by presenting a certified copy of his birth certificate.
Should the Court decline the case, the Constitutional question is left in limbo and demands that Obama provide a certified copy of his Birth Certificate will escalate.
IF they hear it, there will be lots of news about it, whatever they decide UNLESS they sidestep the issue of clarifying natural citizenship. Excepting that sidestep, it will be over before inauguration day and the Constitutional question will be settled.
Basically, we have a Constitutional crisis and will see whether the Supreme Court has any fortitude. I wouldn’t call that red tape.
IF you check the events not covered by the mainstream media, you’ll find lawsuits in several states to require Obama to prove his citizenship before the electoral college meets to elect him president. (He hasn’t been elected, yet – remember the Nov. election doesn’t elect the president and vice-president. The Nov. election selects the electors). E.g., Alan Keyes has filed suit in CA to prevent the casting of electoral votes until the issue is settled.
Constitutional questions are common. The 1800 election was an electoral tie and went to Congress. It took 33 votes before Thomas Jefferson was elected president over Aaron Burr who became vice-president.

All of this is totally unnecessary. I see people looking like fools on both sides of the argument. From what I have seen, I would venture to say that President Elect Obama was more than likely born in Hawaii. On the other hand, I still agree that it is really odd that rather than just get the document and make it available, the Obama campaign tried to bury it. Why not just put it all out in the open and be done with it? The media is not without blame in this either. Digging up all the dirt they can on McCain/Palin that they can find (not to mention Joe the plumber) but they wouldn’t touch this one (because they were afraid it might prove to be true?) and instead just constantly sidestepped it and then after a while had passed of doing nothing indicated that we were beating a dead horse saying that it had already been settled. I don’t understand any of this. If we would all just be open and honest, this would not have happened.

One more question: I keep hearing people calling PRESIDENT Bush a liar because we went into Iraq after wmd’s and didn’t find them. When there was ample opportunity to sneak them out of the country, how do we know that wmd’s were never in Iraq? We know some were used there so how is it so hard to imagine that they were simply hidden or moved?

He names the principals in the transactions and states he gave the coalition forces names of the pilots and other particulars.
Most in the intelligence community believe the three 18 wheelers loaded with cash (dollars, Euros, etc.)which disappeared during the invasion actually was payment to Syria for storing the WMD’s.
Further, the 20 tons of chemical materials, including nerve gas and blistering agents, used by Al Zarqawi to construct a chemical bomb in Amman, Jordan must have come from this stockpile. Jordanian intelligence (Mukhabarat) who uncovered the plot on April 26, 2004, stated that had this bomb been exploded, up to 60,000 Jordanians might have been killed.
