Maybe Bush Was Out Of Purell

November 20th, 2008, 11:06 AM EST

President Bush, getting ready for a photo-op at the G-20 Economic Summit, “seems like the most unpopular kid in high school” opines Rich Sanchez.   Think Progress calls it a snub.

Let the video speak for itself.  Try watching with the sound down.

Perhaps Purell, hand sanitizer to the stars, was nowhere to be found.  Certainly, one can understand a president not wanting to get his hands dirty.

  1. I thought it was funny myself, it’s like the people on the back row were just looking in front and behind him. Absolutely hilarious what he’s done for the USA’s reputation. Sad too.

  3. I had decided some time ago that I wouldn’t necessarily shake his hand depending on what it was for. Good for them.

Wasting the last 5+ years on Iraq, job loss-recession, gay marriage and other stupid Republican wedge issues I hope is Bush’s Legacy.

  4. It makes me almost feel sorry for the guy.
    I said “almost”.

  5. I felt that way, too, TDRO. I was feeling a bit sad for Bush, but then I realized, “Hey wait a minute. He’s not extending HIS hand, either.”

Wish the quality was better on the video. I’d like to see if I can lip-read whether the leaders on stage are frozen-smile-muttering, “Move it along, dickweed.”

  6. “Move it along, dickweed.”

Thanks Sarah, I just spit fruit punch all over my monitor.

  7. Yeah…mixed feelings.

Don’t know whether to feel sorry for Bush (well “almost”) or want to choke him for what he has done for the reputation of our country!

  8. You’re welcome, Jim from Jersey!

    :D —*

(that’s my emoticon for “smiley face spitting stream of fruit punch.” Made it up, just for you!)

  10. 4moreyears,

the gay issue isn’t just a “republican” thang. How many of those no voters in California were democrats?

  11. why shake the hand of the person who started this mess and more likely will be a NON factor in the solution!

I would add my 2 cents but the stock market beat me to it

  13. This continued BS about blame Bush for this and Blame Bush for that is getting old. The administration made some poor descisions granted but there is enough blame to go around both sides of the aisle. These problems didn’t happen over night then pile on 9/11 and a couple of natural disasters and those problems only amplify themselves. Instead of laying blame and furthering hate and discord put the energy into solutions of rebuilding this country and its people.

  14. Liberals preach love and tolerance, but all I have heard from them for the last eight years is nothing but HATE AND INTOLERANCE.

That leaves me to believe that liberal democrat=HATE

  15. Are you kidding me Willy? What about love and tolerance for the homosexual person? Where are the conservatives then? What about love and respect for every human being’s right to have equal rights and equal pay. Where are the conservatives then?

You want us to feel bad because we hate the hateful policies a few conservatives espouse? I personally never hate the person. You have to know someone personally to hate them. But I hate that we could have had an unqualified and uneducated person as vice president. I hate that Bush pushed for more deregulation of the lending companies. I hate that his first 4 years had an entirely Republican controlled congress that passed legislation that rewarded oil companies for gouging us. I hate that the Republican minority did all they could to block legislation from a (finally) Democratically controlled Congress, backed up by a spiteful President.

And this is all stuff I see, in my meager paychecks, in the increased prices at the grocery stores and at the pump, and in my utility bills. You can’t blame my opinion on ‘Liberal Media’ (which is another favorite conservative excuse). I watch Fox News more than MSNBC, and CSpan more than both (And Fox News is purely conservative and spins the crap out of stories to demonize the left.)

  16. Sorry, Willy, I misread your post the first time around and thought you were talking about Conservative Preachers who preach hate and intolerance. I was surprised you’d be so honest. Then I re-read it and realized it was more “hate the liberals” BS.

MK, since 6 of the 8 years of Bush’s reign also included a conservative lock-up of the Supreme Court AND Congress, I’ll have to disagree on the “plenty of blame to go around…” Unless, of course, you mean blaming Bush, AND the Republican Congress, AND the last three years of conservative appointments to the Supreme Court. And the conservative hirings when it came to Homeland Security and FEMA. Then, I guess there’s plenty of blame to go around.
