Happy Birthday LiberaLand
It was just before last Thanksgiving that I was playing around on the computer and spur-of-the-moment went to Blogger and started doing this. I had the idea for something called “Liberaland” and had previously registered the name, but wasn’t sure I’d actually be able to pull off and actually enjoy working in this medium. Well, I never looked back. We migrated to Wordpress.com and then took the thing and put it on alan.com, which had been in a holding pattern for some time.
Thanks to the very able work of designer Ryan Eanes, and webmaster Jack Kratoville, along with my senior radio producer, Joel Morton, we’ve gone from a few hundred hits a day to thousands. According to our blog archives, here is where it all began:
Don’t Jews, Muslims and Atheists Get Any Credit?
Shortly thereafter, Bonnie the Beagle made his Web debut.

Thank you very much for being a part of the growth of Liberaland at alan.com. Feel free to let us know how we can be even better for you going forward.

Happy Birthday LiberaceLand!

Work on the software a bit if you can, the spam filter is annoying. Other than that, it’s a swell place, thanks for having us, and Happy Birthday to the Blog.

Well, most of the ideas I have would be more matters for Wordpress, I would think. For example, it would be nice if the comments were numbered, and if you could directly reply to a comment. Something more like a traditional forum.

Also, the e-mail alert feature needs to be fixed, or started, whichever is the case. And another thing, why am I starting to feel like a stereotypical Jewish mother?

Did you know, Alan, that there’s a song called Dark Alan?

I’m actually your first commenter. I’m Eff25.

Well, a page for posting webpages and stories we recommend would be nice.

Someone else talk, Alan begs you.

Happy Birthday Liberaland!!! I love your blog, it’s my favorite place to be online and I’m proud to have been one of your earliest posters. Always interested and happy to see what you have to say Alan.
Now what can you do to improve this blog. Gee, hmmmm… what could possibly make me jump for joy out of my skin if such an improvement were to take place…?
Can you say spam filter?!! Well of course, I knew you could! A different spam filter? None at all? How about just one that doesn’t hate me???
Now watch this post of mine not show up again.
Other than that, congratulations on another successful venture!
Happy Thanksgiving Alan to you, Jocelyn and Bonnie.
And Joel too. :)

Ah, and Happy Thanksgiving, Alan, all.
November 27th, 2008 at 12:39 am
Well, I’ll be back later to see how much this has turned into a debate about god.
November 27th, 2008 at 12:46 am
WFG you are so right…it appears that so many need this forum to spew their personal views of THEIR religion that the topic is lost and becomes irrelevant. Please folks, stay on topic or at least be humorous. I got over all this type of endless ‘debate’ when a soph. in college… and that was a long time ago.
Happy Turkey Day and don’t eat too much.

Budda, how can you have a Happy Turkey day if you don’t eat too much?
I plan on being in a tryptophane induced coma tomorrow evening.

Get a load of this. I looked up “Republican Actors” in Google, and this page came up among the results, http://www.republicanoperative.com/forums/entertainment-forum/3514-list-conservative-actors-celebrities-etc.html
I think three things will be obvious. 1. Some of them probably aren’t conservatives, let alone Republicans, and perhaps not even libertarians. 2. The lists are poorly supported with evidence. 3. The first post equates military service with conservatism.
The list is a few years old, but I was inspired by a picture to look something up, and I came across that page. I’m sure there’s worse, more absurd.

Ok, I should have read more closely. The author does say it’s not necessarily a strictly conservative list. I jumped the gun. My apologies.

Love the forum as-is. Congratulations on reaching the 12th mark. What gift anniversary is 12? Wood? Paper? Desk set? How about some doggie-Geritol for lil’ Bonnie?
Live long and prosper, Alan & Co. (especially Bonnie).

Thanks for this site, Alan. I started listening to your show in Pittsburgh, then I kept following it down in North Carolina. Now I am in an area that has no affiliates for your network, but I am able to keep up via the blog and the podcasts. I look forward to seeing what you put together for your new cable show. Keep doing what you do, it’s great entertainment.
