When the Valley Stream, Long Island Walmart opened at 5AM the day after Thanksgiving, it truly was a Black Friday.  Two Hundred people bum-rushed the overnight stock clerk to get to the bargains, tearing the doors off the hinges in the process.

Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.

Just a few feet from the dying worker, a pregnant woman was knocked down.  After being treated by paramedics she was told, “There’s nothing we can do.  The baby is gone.”

Shoppers hardly paid attention to the woman who miscarried or to the man who lost his life.

“They were working on him, but you could see he was dead, said Halcyon Alexander, 29. “People were still coming through.”

Only a few stopped.
